Sounds like a job for a Fourier transform. I will try to give it a look in the upcoming weeks once I get access to my Laptop that runs Labview again. I am not too familiar with audio formats and their compression methods but I've worked with image compression and proprietary file structures already, so I might be able to help out.
What programming language are you using? Not too comfortable with my programming skills but I'll make do.

    Hello everyone!
Looking for the forums, I see that there is no real advice on how to effectively use your resources and time when trying to acquire cards and money in this game. This is one of the most basic and important aspects of a game like BF, and thus I'll take some time to explain how it's done.
    Table of contents
Introduction TradingMaking a profit by trading Using Auction HouseScouting/Hawking/Low-bidding Speculating Flipping Other ways to make a profit and what NOT to dorPvE Grinding Begging Spamming Conclusion 1. Introduction
Do you like making money? Do you enjoy making great deals? Need help gathering those bfps for that sweet new promo? Well look no further, as I walk you through some important aspects of trading and interacting with virtual economics.
When trading in games, or even in general, the purpose is hopefully to have both parties leave the trade happy with what they got. This is what trading is all about, giving away something you don't need to receive something you need. There are several ways to accomplish this, and I will try to cover most of them in this guide.
    Let us begin, shall we?
    2.Trading
Regular exchanging of wares is the bread and butter of any seasoned trader. It's the most common and basic form of trading which involves two parties exchanging something they value to receive something they don't value; be it money, wares or services. It has existed for as long as we could communicate and has proven to be very effective. The good thing about it is that it's simple, fast and is (hopefully) consensual most of the time.
This doesn't mean that the method is flawless though. Trading can sometimes result in one of the parties being tricked into making a trade that's profitable for the other party without their knowledge. This, of course, leads to some pretty harsh feel-bads when the poor guy finds out that trading his promo Swamp Drake for the sweet-looking Lost Grigori was a really bad idea. That feeling is something we should all work together to prevent. The key to preventing that is making sure to be able to differentiate a rip-off from a good deal. No matter how you look at it, trading a promo Swamp Drake for a Lost Grigori is a rip-off. Even if the person says that he REALLY wants that Lost Grigori. This is because 2 weeks later, when he decides that he doesn't want to play shadow-frost in PvE anymore, he'll really miss that Swamp Drake. One could argue that he would've learned a lesson and won't do it again, but why should that be necessary? If the person with the Grigori would've refused the trade and asked for him to something of equal value, everyone would be more happy in the end.
Now that we have that out of the way, we can move on to the actual process of making good deals. A good deal is achieved when both parties walk away from the trade happy and stay that way. Now you may ask "But PorousBoat, how can I make a profit off of trading while still not ripping people off?". This is a very good question, to which I happen to have an answer.
2.1 Making a profit by trading
If you've ever spent any considerable amount of time, or even any time at all in a game where trading is present, you will have seen people as well as bots (that's another disussion) spamming "WTT/S/B ITEM X FOR PRICE/ITEM X". These messages are often quite annoying, but they're there for a single reason; it's effective. These people often utilize the method of buying things in bulk and selling them of individually for a higer individual price. This method is perfectly viable and can make you a very good profit. The only problem with it is that it requires an immense amount of time.
For instance, say that you find a person selling their collection of 150 commons and uncommons for 175 bfp as a bulk price. If you then sell each of those cards for 3 bfp individually, you will make a 400 - 175 = 225 bfp profit. This was a good deal as both parties were happy and both made a profit in some way. Selling those cards can be easier said than done though, as the demand is probably pretty low. That's why you see those people and bots spamming 8 hours a day.
    3. Using the AH
The other main way of making money and acquiring cards is by use of the in-game Auction House (AH for short). The AH lets a player put up a listing for a certain card for a certain price that they decide themselves. Other people can then either bid on the card, where the highest bid wins, or buyout the card, where a price is set prematurely. This price is regulated by the current value of the card based on supply and demand. You probably already know that though, so I won't explain it. Now that you understand the puprose of the AH, we can get into how we make a profit out of it.
    3.1 Hawking/Scouting/Low-bidding
The simplest way to make money off of the AH is to simply browse it through and bid on cards that are very cheap relative to what they're actually worth. Say that a card is worth 100 bfp, but someone put it up at an auction for 10 bfp. If no one else bids, you just made a 100 - 10 = 90 bfp profit. This method isn't what makes you the big bucks though, as it is very unreliable and takes a lot of time and effort. I only recommend doing this if you see an offer that's too good to pass up.
    3.2 Speculating
Another way to make a profit through the AH is to speculate. This method is a lot more unreliable than the others, but can make you amazing profits when pulled off correctly and takes little to no time to set up. It functions similar to flipping, which I'll get into later. Speculating involves buying a card that you speculate will rise in price for some reason in the foreseeable future. This may be due to increasing demand because of meta change or decreasing supply (a promo or such).
Buying a larger amount of that card can possibly make you a massive profit, presuming you were correct. If you weren't, you're stuck with 50 copies of Global Warming that no one wants. This makes the method very much of a risk-reward thing, where you put yourself at a great risk for the chance of making a large profit. I only recommend this method if you really know what you're doing.
    3.3 Flipping
This right here is the most effective way of earning money when you know what you're doing, but takes a lot of practice to learn to do effectively. Flipping is a pretty advanced method involving abusing low supply by buying out large amounts of a card to resell them all at a slightly higher price, thus raising the value of the card artificially. For instance, say there are 50 Scavengers on the AH priced at 50 bfp with that being the lowest price. If you buy all of those and resell them for 51 bfp, you will have profited 51 x 51 - 50 x 50 = 50 bfp. This may not seem like a lot, but when done right with large amounts of cards you can net massive profits, with little to no effort. If you want to be really fancy, you can make sure the item you're flipping is on the rise in price, thus making your profit even larger by combining flipping and speculating.
Note: All of these methods have no guarantee of netting you a profit. They require you to take some pretty great risks, and you WILL fail. Especially in the beginning. Don't let this scare you though!
4 Other ways to make a profit and what NOT to do
"But PorousBoat, are those the only ways to make a profit?" I hear you cry! No! Those are not the only ways to earn money in BF. This guide was made to walk you through the best and most effective methods of turning a profit. That does not mean that there are not other ways to go about making a psrofit in BF. Let me tell you a little about some of the alternatives, along with things you should NOT do.
    4.1 rPvE Grinding
As silly as it may seem, unless there are major changes (which there very well may be), rPvE grinding was a somewhat viable way of making money through selling gold and tokens. This was extremely time consuming and ineffective though. Almost to the point where you were better off playing PvP for the gold. I highly recommend you to stay away from this method unless you have to do it for some reason.
    4.2 Begging
This should go without saying, but there will be people who think this is a good idea every now and then. Please stay away from these people and don't do it yourself.
    4.3 Spamming
This is also something that is very common, which is unfortunate because of how ineffective and annoying it is. People sending random trade requests/messages/offers should not be interacted with, and probably ignored as well. Don't do this, folks.
    5. Conclusion
In conclusion, the best ways to make a profit in BF is to utilize the methods I've gone into above. I appreciate any and all feedback you may have, as well as suggestions for points that I may have missed. I look forward to updating this thread with further content when more information is released. I thank you for taking the time to read this guide, and I hope to see some of these methods employed when the game is available!

  4. Kaliber84 liked a post in a topic by Kapo in Promo Snapjaws vs. Completionists - and a possible solution...
Dear Skylord, Skyladies and other Skyfolk; Yes - this is my official Whine-Thread about the Promo Snapjaws, begging the Devs for mercy for me and other Completionists.
For as long as I can think, my playstyle of any game was a completionists approach. If there are achievements I go even for the craziest ones, go for every aspect of a game no matter if its PvP/PvE/whatever, in simple words: I gotta catch them all. When I encounter other players, usually I have the expierience that Completionists are not super rare, but not that many players want to do "everything", especially if there are low or no rewards for it.
When I joined Skylords Reborn, my timing was kinda unfortunate: Severy other players said I should enter the PROMOMOUNTAINEER code, and they were surprised that the code has become invalid - so I guess I joined shortly after it ran out. I got myself two good decks and started my usual jouney: unlock all maps, do achievements, do all expert maps while collect all nature cards first, then all legendaries, then all frost cards, and so on. In the collectible card aspect, I'm about to finish with just 3 promos missing, and the closer I get to this finish line, the more my mind returns to the snapjaws. Its "THE MISSING CARD", and people like me are bothered by this greatly. Especially, since there is no information out there if it might return or not. Asking about it brought to light that the devs have not decided upon this.
I totally understand the concept of rewards for a special group of people. Get something very special under this-and-that circumstances, and the rest is left out. Like, "this is the reward for the people who have been there since the beginning". In other games, I am usually on the side that has the reward already, and encountered multiple times that restriction have been loosened or removed, and some special titles/items/... havent been that special anymore. But to be honest, after the first impulse that my "hard work" didnt pay off subsided I didnt care that much for long. Usually you have lots of other stuff to show off, and if some things are devalued, sooner or later it always happens as long developers are still changing and developing the game.
Long story short, here are my suggestions what to do in that aspect, in hope that the devs take this into consideration:
    1. Make an annoucement that Promo Snapjaws will never be obtainable again, and it stays a special reward for those who have been there from the start. While I wouldnt be super happy about this, it gives some peace of mind. Its better then the current state of them, where nobody knows nothing and false hope can rise.
    2. Make them available once a year like Santa or Easter egg, e.g. on the release date as Skylords Reborn "Birthday" card or something similar.
    3. (this is my favourite option) Since only completionists are bothered by this, make an Achievement to "Collect X cards" and the final achievement for having one of every card is the Snapjaws. So, if you really care, you can work towards it. You may or may not include Promos in that achievement, with Promos it would be incredible hard, but real Completionists will work toward it anyway. no matter how hard it is. Sidenote: Since Battleforge has an collectible card game aspect to it, I was very surprised that there isnt a "Collect X cards" achievement already.
    4. Any other crazy Achievement would be welcome too, if it fits more in the general roadmap of Devs plans for new Achievements. "Play X games with Snapjaws in your deck", "Win a expert map with at least X Legendary cards" or whatever - in the style of the Dragonkin achievement.
Of course I talked to several people how they feel about this issue, and in some cases they brought it up because they share the same fate as I do. To be honest I have no idea how much opposition this ideas generate inside the community, especially amongst those who have been really there since the beginning. And I feel those people should be rewarded, maybe with some special title, avatars or something. But for those who joined later its harsh for Completionists that the reward is something important like a promo card.
So, that is my Suggestion/Whine. Hope to hear from the devs regarding this issue, even a statement like (1.) would be welcomed, to put the minds at rest.

Thanks for reporting the bug. It happens, because we internally switched to another form of config file. We need to find a working solution on how to handle this special case for the MapEditor.
As a workaround you could try to do the following steps.
Replace the existing pcre3.dll file with the file from the downloaded BFR Client.rar archive Start the BattleForge executable with the parameter -online. Simplest way is to start a command line or PowerShell and call it like so: BattleForge.exe -online (CMD) or .\BattleForge.exe -online (PowerShell)
The game will start up, but probably throw some errors. As a consequence you need to close the client by shutting down the process manually. However the config file will be created by the game and you should be able to start the MapEditor.
  6. Eirias liked a post in a topic by Kaliber84 in Suggestion to rework Twilight Transformation: Twilight Evolve
I like the idea of a straight evolution path for each creature. For the sake of simplicity I think it'd be best if the evolutions are primarily stat boosts. Not sure if the ability will see much more popularity if one still needs to manually activate it and pay the power cost for every single unit but then again, who knows. The main advantage is that with the given suggestion one is actually able to get some use out of the transformation passive abilities most Twilight units have. I was never a fan of those passives to begin with though, as many of the cards are vastly overloaded with pages of descriptions for all the effects one can supposedly activate.

In short I am strongly supporting any idea that simplifies the current mess that is the Transformation ability into something more stomachable.

TL, DR: I looked for BF fonts and these are the ones I found that share similarities.
In my quest to create a logo for the Battleforge Creator's Guild channel (formerly Skylords Reborn Community) I have been on the lookout for fonts that are similar to the one used in the original logos of BF. As I have already experienced when helping with the creation of the "Battleforge Reborn" banner it is incredibly time-consuming to create every letter by hand. You need to determine or recreate the core shape, add background layers, colouring, shading, and then fuse all of the letters together into a whole by texturing and blending it together. So for new projects I'd like to have a font at hand where I can at least use the shape without the need to do major adjustments to it. Someone with more typographical knowledge than me might find something even better than I have. But these are my results.

@Darian DelFord Your thread from 3 years ago might be a bit outdated but if you`re still interested here you go.

    Disclaimer:
All of the fonts are licensed and need to be bought for official use. As I don't have any commercial interests I take the freedom to use them as templates and modify them as needed. Just keep in mind that this is not open-source or freeware per se.
    Ravenwood - https://www.fonts.com/de/font/aerotype/ravenwood
This one really stood out as it is almost exactly the same in many regards. While at first it might look a bit weird when comparing it to the BF font the single letters share many characteristics like general shape, thickness, proportions and even the edges line up in most places. If anyone ever has the ambition to recreate a Battleforge font as a whole this would be the place to start and adjust.
    Gottar - https://www.fonts.com/de/font/intellecta-design/gottar
This one is not really that similar to the BF font but then again it shares a lot of details with it where the Ravenwood font is lacking. This font should not be used as a direct alternative and can't be used to predict what letters would look like that are never seen in the original BF banner. But it can be used to complement the Ravenwood font with parts and details.

Whenever we win a game, we're greeted to the image of a juggernaut. It's cool, badass, and to top it all off we get a victory tune that is different based on the faction we used to win with!
However, i always wondered...Why doesn't the image change as well? Why don't we see creatures like the Tremor or Dreadnought for frost victories? Grimvines or Thornbarks for nature victories? Harvesters and Overlords for shadow victories? Victory screen differences are just a small aesthetical change but one i would personally like to see.
Why not even include victory screens for the splash factions? If that's possible?
  10. Neox liked a post in a topic by Kaliber84 in The Fire Worm Dilemma
The Fire Worm is the ranged T4 unit with the best attack / power ratio in the game. Some cards might be arguably better but Primeval Watcher fulfils a different role, Fire Dragon needs to build up rage first and Magma Fiend suffers from low range, low hp and mediocre mobility.
Up until now I never played the Fire Worm so I can't evaluate how it plays ingame. But compared to other T4 cards it doesn't lack stats.
The main problem is IMO that it gets 2 abilities that require it to go right into the midst of battle. Percussive Birth is even worse on this card as it is dazed when summoned and does not have the hp pool to make up for that when it is being spawned close to enemies.
Still I don't think the rage ability is the way to fix this. It would make the card incredibly strong and put it into a role that is already filled by the Fire Dragon. Instead I propose to simply take away Percussive Birth and increase the range by 5m. Or give it an ability that lets it spawn undazed. That would be interesting too.

I think this could be very easily fixed by changing the effect of Nether Warp so that it only refreshes the duration instead of applying it again.
A different option would be to lower the teleport delay after the first teleport. If this is set to a high enough frequency then units like Shadow Mage won't be able to finish their attack animation before they are teleported to the start again. This would make most armies useless for any offensive and effectively negate any benefit gained by the affinity. I don't know what kind of impact this has on the server performance, given that it hasn't been implemented like this from the beginning.

  14. yoda8789 liked a post in a topic by Kaliber84 in Sell cards to "void"
I'm also in support of this. But I think you should get for the cards instead of  . Even though I can't say why I'd prefer it that way. Just seems more correct to me to give out something one might be able to use even after owning every single card in the game. Also 1 won't make much of a difference in the current state of the game even if you sold 50 cards. But something like e.g. 150-2k gold (for common-ultrarare) do mount up to some nice upgrades.
I wonder if it'll be possible with the client though.
@flergon It most likely won't be able to keep the market 'healthy' though. As soon as enough pieces of a card are destroyed the worth will go up by a couple of making it worthwile to sell again and lowering the prices back to the original level. I fear that the vast pool of unused common & uncommon cards won't change their prices even then but some rares and ultrarares that aren't worth much might rise in price. That's still a good thing imo but one shouldn't have great expectations of what this will be able to do.
The data gained from the destruction of cards should be invaluable to make balancing changes in the future though. So please go ahead devs and make this happen.

I am currently working on a brand new logo for the community channel.
For that I want to incorporate symbols of every (playable) faction. While I would've thought that there are existing symbols I can't find any.
So in short now I need new symbols for every faction and I am asking everyone in the community for ideas, advice or even sketches. If you have any suggestions please let me know and I will see if I can use them.
The symbols should be simple, intuitive and representative of the faction. Ideally anyone would be able to draw a symbol in a couple of seconds. And even without color someone else could recognize the faction it represents.
For example a 7-pointed start enclosed in a circle would probably be recognized as and is easy to draw.
But a spiral might not be recognized as even though it is a common motive in many nature cards.
Thanks for any and all input!
  16. Kaliber84 liked a post in a topic by Eirias in Replay Repository
I propose a section of this forum dedicated to sharing and commenting on replays. (Obviously this shouldn't be a priority because the open stress test comes first.) This would be something like the devplatform or cardbase, but would be a site for uploading and finding specific replays.

Someone recently asked me for some replays. I was going to refer him to bfcards.info, but it looks like that site has been taken down. Hence the need for a new site. (btw, if anyone knows who ran bfcards.info, please refer him to this thread)

bfcards.info was a place where people uploaded replays, and others commented on the replays and voted (1-5 stars) to help people sift through and find relevant replays to learn from.
If anyone has a backup of those replays (or has other replays saved that they want to contribute), then let's use this thread to coordinate the sharing of replays. I know several players such as @RadicalX and @Anonymos have shared some replays from their personal repository with me, but I want a more centralized location.

One way or another a replay-sharing page needs to be built. I can't think of any reasons that the devs wouldn't set it up on this forum (eventually), but if they don't there's nothing stopping us from independently setting up such a site.
So let's discuss some useful features! I think each replay uploaded should include
    1. Map
    2. Time of match
    3. orbs played
    4. player names and ranks (at least approximation of ranks)
    5. date played/uploaded
    6. If it's ranked/unranked or part of a tournament
    7. comment section and 1-5 star rating from viewers
    8. Tags
And we should probably create a list of pre-made tags that can be easily searched, like "long t1" or "t1 rush" or "no t3" or "big t3,"  etc. I hesitate to suggest tags like "no lamer" because that might cause some flame wars. . . .

So what do you guys think are any other features that should be in the Replay Repository?

And until a repository is set up, if anyone has replayed uploaded to google drive or dropbox or anything, feel free to share them here!

I'm quite fond of the revisions that I made. The spearhead should be less pronounced and in turn the anchor should be more recognizable as a symbol. The harpoon is in the place which the anchor "handle" would usually be to reinforce the anchor in the image.
Next up would be finishing up and fine-tuning.
The harpoon will get a second hook The spearhead might see minor reshaping The anchor will be fine-tuned The proportions of single elements (especially line width) will be adjusted to feel more consistent Any other ideas of how to improve this?

PS: Many thanks to the fabulous suggestions by @Kitsurubami and @Wormas who made this design possible.

I really like this idea but tbh it reminds me of AC symbol and I do not see the anchor or spear itself in the logo at the first glance. Maybe I would make the anchor a bit more pronounced, so the two elements would not merge into something unrecognizable.
(I even tried to do something to illustrate my point even though it doesnt feel right to me)

Possible bandit icon line art (hopefully this one doesn't look like an alien nipple/boob like my last attempt at an icon).

maybe a skull with crossed harpoons would fit the bandits. I-...I mean my nephew drew this insanely well cropped logo:

I don't really have any ideas for twilight but you might want to look at "twilight willsapper" for some inspiration

Simple is indeed what I am looking for. But I'd also like to use existing motifs already found in the factions if possible. The pure faction symbols aren't that hard to create/find.
Color schemes are actually things I want to avoid. Logos I want are ones that are also recognizable in black & white.
What I really need is something for the mixed factions. They have existing motifs but most of those are also used by other factions and are thus unusable to me.
Here is the logos so far. Next up is Lost Souls. Bandits, Stonekin and Twilight still need convincing ideas.
    Edit: Added Fire symbol
