Disclaimer: This is more a fun deck. Not advised for beginners. Might have difficulty clearing harder rpve 9 maps.
    Hey Skylords,
I've been playing around with some rpve decks and wanted to share one of my favorites:

T1: Standard T1 fire start with Nomad G, Eruption and Mine. Of course a Shadow start is also viable to get your Resource Booster out earlier
T2: Bandit Minefield to take the T3 camp easier.
T3: At T3, build your Shadow orb as T3 to get early boosters. You can start building your army of Gunners afterwards if you are not the one building the Shrine of War.
T4: Get your second fire orb and start going ham on the camps with your Gunners + spell support.

    - Why Corsair? Corsair buffs all friendly Bandit units by 60%!!!
    - How do you keep your Gunners alive? By applying unity on your Gunners they will share 1 life pool. If you cast Blood Healing, the whole group will heal.
    - Make sure you do not target your own units with Amok as it affects both hostile and friendly entities.
    - Unity works on 8 units. If you have more than 8 gunners, make sure you use both Unity to cover as many units as possible, without too much overlap.

Attached you can find a replay with all four players playing a gunners deck in the current MotM. Its a whole lot of fun!

After a short discussion on our discord, I decided to make this quiz.
You need to name all the Twilight edition (first edition) cards that were in the original game.
The time limit is 20 min.
Feel free to share your results!

    Hello People of the sky,
It´s time to fight with a perfectly balanced deck, as all things should be

Update: Winners, Replays, Stream and more can be found in this post:

What does this mean for deckbuilding?
    Deck Rule 1:
Your deck has to consist of:
     4x T1 Cards
     4x T2 Cards
     4x T3 Cards
     4x T4 Cards
    Deck Rule 2:
Your deck has to consist of:
     5x Units
     5x Buildings
     5x Spells
1x Wildcard (Can be one additional Unit, Building or Spell)
    Deck Rule 3:
Your deck has to consist of:
     4x Fire Cards
     4x Frost Cards
     4x Nature Cards
     4x Shadow Cards
no neutral cards! (Moon, Rogan, etc.)
no mixed cards! (Twilight, Lost Souls, etc.)
    Game Rule 1:
Every card in your deck has to be played at least one time.
Hint: You are allowed to switch orbs to play for example “Fire Dancer” with 2 Fire Orbs.

This sounds complicated, how do I check if my deck legitimate?
    The funny BOT-Website is back -> www.t1421.de
You can upload your replay and use one of two modes.
-> “Cards Played” -> Checks which cards have been played within the replay and if the run conforms with the ruleset
-> “Cards in Deck” -> Checks which cards are in your deck and if it conforms with the deck rules.
Hint: Start a match, wait 1 second and upload that replay to be certain, everything is within the rules.

OK I think got it, tell me the rest:
Map:                          Behind Enemy lines Difficulty:                   Advanced Goal:                          Win as fast as possible within the deck and game rules above Until when:                23.10.2022 23:59 CET Winner Stream:         28.10.2022 18:00 CET via my Twitch (https://www.twitch.tv/ultralord_t1421) Replays:                     PM in the Forum @T1421 or DM via Discord Ultralord#9706 Replay name:             BOT2_[Your Username].pmv

This is too easy! Give me a “real” challenge!

    And what can I win?
There is one ranking list for “perfectly balanced” and “overbalanced”:

    1st place:                     7 General Boosters
    2nd place:                    4 General Boosters
    3rd place:                     3 General Boosters
    4th place:                     2 General Boosters
    5th -10th place:           1 General Booster

    11th-14th place:          200BFP
    15th-20th place:          100BFP

Fastest Player using a “overbalanced”-Deck gets a Promo Fallen Skyelf!

    Top 4 Players using a “overbalanced”-Deck get one of 4 Shadow/Fire/Frost/Nature Booster.

There are 16 Cards in the random draw (only one per player). Place 11 and lower get priority.
So when all player lower place 10 got a card, player 1-10 could get their chance.

I have a very bad habit of commenting even if I know nothing about the topic.

There is also a third way, which involves lots of luck and patreon.
For example Keystone in Starcraft 2 is a Heartstone inspired card game, with (in my view) way more interesting deck building, mechanics and okayish gamemodes (3v3 is awesome) - great experience created with lots of love and dedication.
The creator currently earns ~300 dollars for releasing and balancing a few cards a month (I make it sound easy, its not!), as a side project he does next to his actual work. He has put a lot of effort, time and dedication to get where he is now.

    Another interesting example on priv.

If you have passion for creating amazing games and don't expect them to cover your bills, eventually you will build experience and projects large enough to make them profitable; but if you want to do games because they sell well and drop your current job for it, it may end up ugly.

    About game engine
I believe Unity is free until you earn 100 000$ a month, it's widely used within industry and can create amazing things. There may be other engines you may find easier (but more specific) to use, I played a few decent cashed games from RPG maker for example.
But I guess you should do a solid research outside of this forum before you start work.
    About coding languange
Once I watched a great video explaining which one is the best. (sorry, I spent 35 minutes looking for it and couldn't find source 😕 )
Each languange is a tool, and is better for different kind of tasks. Do you want to make your game with hammer or screwdriver? Well, that depends on what game it will be.
I heard something with front and back-end capabilities could be worth consideration, but again I know nothing about coding.
Do solid research about what languanges are good for.

Oh, and most importantly, if you want to help, dedication to work on the project for months and capability to invest lots of time in it are two most important things you need, you can learn the rest on the fly.

    Hello @Riviute,
Creating an indie game, and having a job that have nothing to do with development is pretty common. If you would want to make games for a big company it would be also very different from making an indie game, and might also be far from your dream. If you would would like to earn enough from making an indie game(s) you will either need to target scam kind of games for phones, which isn't much about the development itself, but about the marketing and studies how to best hide the fact that it is legally allowed gambling with real money for children, OR make another technological advancement like Minecraft. Unfortunately these are scales, but with big empty space in the middle 😞
When I started with Skylords Reborn I did have almost 0 (or actually 0) experience in reverse engineering, server development, networking, server management, game development, ...
I stated programing so many years ago, first in some game-ish things where I give a wizard visual instructions, and wizard then followed that "program" to complete some objective, but I find the command pallet kind of limiting, so I looked up actual programing language on the internet (which is much easier these days, and you can find much better languages). It was C++ and I started creating programs and games I did know at that time.
I would say good way to start is decide what you actually want to do. There are options to make games from purely aesthetic point of view without writing a single line of code, or from purely design point of view without doing any art, or the "engine code", or you can do purely the coding part, follow some simple or existing design, and use free art, or buy the art, or you can do it all, or you can join some team.
We use no game engine, and EA did use some old internal engine, that to my knowledge does not have a publicly known name.
We use multiple programing languages for different things like Rust, C++, LUA, C#, ...

    Patch #400036
Welcome to our newest patch. This update contains a follow-up to our larger patch earlier in the month with new achievements and changes to existing achievements.

    General Changes
Added notificaton when all gold chests have been opened. Fixed bug where you could start campaign PvE matches with free PvP decks. Solved numerous smaller textual inconsistencies in the UI. Renamed "Delete all" to "Collect all" in the mail window. Added dialog box that mentions the mails will also be deleted, instead. Removed map seeds from the random PvE map pool known to crash the game. This should solve the issue where a random PvE map crashes on start-up. Faction ability icons are no longer displayed as status effects on a unit to conserve space for non-permanent effects. This includes: Life Stealer (Bandits), Elusive (Amii), Adamant Skin (Stonekin units), and Adamant Alloy (Stonekin buildings).
    New & Existing Achievements
Skylords Reborn released with a base set of achievements, including 3 achievements which reward players for draining their BFP reserves. Unfortunately, since release we have seen that contrary to encouraging more play, these reserve achievements are actually driving players away from the game. Players will grind many hours in a row to finish all three achievements and in the process completely burn themselves out. Given this situation, we have decided to remove all 3 reserve achievements and replace them with general in-game playtime achievements that the player can complete at their own pace. These new achievements will be available to everyone, even those who previously completed the reserve achievements.
Sadly, our newest achievements were also not free from issues. "A Wrinkle in Time" caused a lot of confusion with its description and has been updated accordingly. Our new RPvE 10 achievement "Abandon Hope..." has proved to be quite popular, even with brand-new players who attempt it without being properly prepared. This has led to frustration among our more veteran players, who the achievement was meant to help by increasing the RPvE 10 player pool. As such, we have locked the achievement beyond PvE Rank 10, to prevent unprepared players from joining lobbies in hopes of easy boosters. Our Pure Fire achievement "Never Thought of Him" has had a very low completion rate and after talking to players we decided to reduce the restrictions. Now, only the player pursuing the achievement is required to use a Pure Fire deck, instead of the entire team. While not mentioned here, see PvE map changes below, we have made changes to Defending Hope to allow the player to activate Rogan with a building and not just a unit. While the fact Rogan required a unit to be activated was intended to be a fun puzzle-like challenge for the "A City Strongly Compact" achievement, we noticed this caused substantial frustration among players, especially those who were also trying to complete "The Long Journey Home" simultaneously.
    [ New Achievements ]
Thirsty for More  [1/2/3 General Boosters ]
Spend time in matches. (5/15/30 hours)
    Up and Coming  [1 Mini-booster]
    Complete the 1-player scenario Introduction.
    Gym Rat  [3 General Boosters]
    Win 20 sparring PvP matches.
    Moon's Disciple  [6 General Boosters]
Win 20 ranked PvP matches. (Locked until Gym Rat has been completed)
[ Changes to Existing Achievements ]

All 3 Reserve Achievements (Drink Up, Me Hearties!; Thirsty for More; To the Last Drop)
    - Permanently removed from the game
    A Wrinkle in Time
    - Description changed to clarify it requires Lost Souls cards.
Abandon Hope All Ye Who Enter Here
    - Achievement is now locked until a player reaches PvE rank 10 (Gold 2)
    Never Thought of Him
    - Only requires the player to use a Pure Fire deck instead of the entire team.
    A Force of Nature
    - Reward description changed to "1x Promo Mana Wing" to clarify it is not a normal Mana Wing being rewarded.

    Greetings Skylords!
A new month; a new Community Update! It's time to bring you up to speed with everything going on in Skylords Reborn!

    • September Patch Release + Feedback Thread

Our latest content patch released on September 14th and brought three new cards and many balance changes to the game. You can check out the patch notes here. We hope you are enjoying the many hours that went into creating it.
As always, we would love to hear your feedback on the changes we have made to the game with this patch.
What do you think of our first PvE nerfs? Do the various decks still feel usable? Have they changed much at all, etc.?
Do you like the changes to card and factions (PvE and PvP)? Why or why not? Where did we hit the mark, and implement something exciting you'd like to see more of? Where did we miss the mark, and what should we avoid in the future? Do you enjoy the new cards, are they balanced, do you like Hybrid Orbs? And what about our map changes?
While these are some of the topics we are most interested about, feel free to offer any suggestions regarding the patch and the current direction of the game. Please provide your feedback here, or you can also join us at our balance discord to further discuss changes to cards.

    • Follow-up Achievement Patch

In a small follow-up patch, currently planned for this upcoming Monday, we will make changes to some achievements in the game (and add some new ones!). We know players really like achievements, so we plan to continue adding and improving the experience. This patch will also contain some QoL changes.
These new achievements will be available to everyone, even those who previously completed the reserve achievements.
Sadly, our newest achievements, added in our Force of Nature patch, were also not free from issues. We have also made changes to Defending Hope to allow the player to activate Rogan with a building and not just a unit. While the fact Rogan required a unit to be activated was intended to be a fun puzzle-like challenge for the "A City Strongly Compact" achievement, we noticed this caused substantial frustration among players, especially those who were also trying to complete "The Long Journey Home" simultaneously.
You can check out the full list of changes here. The patch is currently planned for release on Monday the 3rd.

    • New Card Reveal: Evil Eye

While we just released our latest patch, we are already hard at work on creating new cards and content. Stay tuned to our Community Updates for more information about their release.
Our last content patch already contained two new Twilight cards; Twilight Slayers and Twilight Crawlers. We might have kept the best for last, and are excited to reveal another new card coming to the faction in the future; the long requested Evil Eye!

Please note: We are still testing the card. While we are generally happy about it, numbers and effects might still change before release.
Evil Eye is a new tier 4 unit for Twilight decks, requiring two Nature and two Fire orbs. The card will be uncommon, and won't have an affinity. This ranged Demon Dominator deals increased damage the longer it can focus its sight on an enemy.

    Searing Sight
Deals 200 damage to a target enemy every second. Evil Eye's sight deals increasingly more damage the longer it attacks, up to a maximum of 800 damage every second, but falls back to its original damage output if it doesn't fight for 5 seconds or changes targets. Has a range of 30m.

    Transform
Evil Eye has the faction's ability "Transformation", allowing it to transform into other Twilight units. Because Evil Eye is already a strong tier 4 card, it has a special passive ability to make transforming it worthwhile.

    Conjuration
If the unit is transformed, it will restore spell card charges. The card of every Fire, Nature, and Twilight spell will be granted one more charge and will be immediately reusable. The maximum number of possible card charges for a specific card will not be exceeded.

Evil Eye has been requested as a playable card many times over the years, and we hope you look forward to playing with it in the future!

    • Art Spotlight

The artwork for Evil Eye was created by SpiritAlpha. As always, it went through many iterations; work on the card started as early as June 2022! We collected some sketches to show a behind the scenes look at the work that went into the final design.

First, SpiritAlpha provided 9 possible art compositions for Evil Eye. Our Art Critiques then voted for their favorite designs. The three top voted designs were picked to expand upon. Here you can see some of their exploration:

In the end, we went for the first design, which is a take on Nano's Wrathgazer wallpaper. We then spend a ton of time getting the colors and scenery just right for the card, making sure it fit with other twilight designs and the card frame.

    2009 / 2022
What do you think of the artwork? And do you enjoy these behind the scenes sections? Please let us know in the comments!

Four of each color, four of each tier, five of each card type, and every card has to be played out at least once (meaning you can't put filler cards into your deck). Keep an eye on the event calendar on the Forum or ingame news for the full rules and map!

We are happy to welcome R4bitF00t to our team as Map Artist. He will help out the map department with the graphical side of things, which will greatly help our map projects that are currently in development.

    • Contribute to the Project

As always, we hope you will also consider helping out the project. Please take a look at all our open positions on how you can do so.
There are also a variety of contributor roles like translator, that don't require you to join the staff, but still allow you to help out now and then. Please take a look.

    • In Conclusion

And that's it for this Community Update, thanks for reading!
As is tradition, this community update comes with a scratch code.
The code will reward you with a Twilight-booster: ISPY-WITH-HUGE-EYES

The code is valid until November 1st, when we will bring you another Community Update.
As always, we are open to feedback, so please let us know if you have any questions, suggestions, or comments!
