Based on wiki facts that you posted, reverse engineering does involve taking code from software, or any project source code, and making adjustments to establish improvements, or understanding the purpose of the code, should there be any provided at all. In which case we are both correct, but according to what you're saying, you have nothing on terms of coding that was applied to Battleforge when EA had it, otherwise I wouldn't be missing anything from what I've already pointed out. This is all good to know, and at least the suggestions are here if they ever get implemented into this game. Otherwise, I'm enjoying the collaboration involving my own game design project, and some popular youtube streamers involved as well who I met at a Pax event a few years ago. From what I can tell though, there just won't be time to do what I've suggested, and maybe you'll do your own similar project to this, once you're finished with Battleforge, so additional content seems unlikely at this point beyond touching up already existing mechanics.
Fair enough, and understandable. Furthermore, what I pointed out was the difference between a developer, and the game designer, since I was asked to do the coding of the suggestions, but the game designer designs the foundation through conceptual design and illustrations, in order to establish how everything is intended to turn out. Simply put, the designer works with the developer, and I'm a game designer, but I don't have time to work on Battleforge myself, therefore I posted my knowledge of improvements that can be made.
At the end of the day, it's about pitching the projects effectively to investors, or opening our own business to have complete control over the process of the projects. Something I've prepared my projects for, and goodluck with yours as well!

We all freelancers, doing this in free time, with no source code. We had to reverse engineer binaries for over 2 years to be able to pull some of the updates you already see on the server. It's not matter of weeks or a month as everything we'd like to do takes enormously large amount of time due to the lacking of source code.

Heya Skylords, Skyladies, and other Skyfolk,
Spring festivities are upon us again, and this year it's a rather strange one for all of us. With global lockdowns and measures taking place against COVID-19, millions of people are currently in self-isolation at home. For those who have recently discovered Skylords Reborn, or even for those long-time veterans who want to complete their collections, we're going to giving everyone 5 boosters to endure the grind a little better in these trying times. Use them as you wish; perhaps you'll be able to try out something new, perhaps it'll give you that well-needed collection or economic boost, perhaps it's just a fun time opening them!
Of course, Easter time is something not to be forgotten, and so we're also giving all of you an Easter Egg card, as the tradition goes. You can find these gifts in your in-game mailbox to redeem and spread the happiness with!
In the meantime, now more than ever are we trying our best to get the game and the ever-awaited reset to you as soon as possible. Despite the current circumstances, we've actually been increasing progress speed in the past few weeks and we've got some solid ideas and improvements planned to head your way in the near future. We're getting there, Skyfolk, and we're going strong.
Be sure to stay tuned for further developments, updates, and status reports coming your way soon! We've got much in the pipeline.
Please do remember to stay safe, stay inside, maintain your distance, and look out for yourselves and those in need in these awkward but ever so important times.
Enjoy your rewards, stay tuned, and as always, Nyn is ready for you to be ruled and protected!

    Hello there,
currently, the old 12-player scenarios Ascension and Passage to Darkness are disabled due to synchronization problems. In fact, these 12 player scenarios were not actually maps with 12 players but each just three connected four-player maps. I will try to make independent four-player scenarios out of them, thus create 3 individual maps out of Ascension + 1 out of Passage to Darkness.
As of right now, Passage to Darkness already works. Remember that the audio instructions by Moon may not be correct as there are no longer any connected maps and you are alone in Western Akylos. Just as back then, the two main goals are to first destroy all Shrines and then all living Aspects. Fortunately, the Wrath of the Souls is not targeting you.

You can download the original version of the map in-game. Along with it comes also a modification Emmaerzeh and I created, which makes the scenario a little tougher. In order to play either of those make sure to have only one of the respective .pak files in your map folder at a time.

Many thanks to Emma, Mephisto, and Kubik.
    Best regards,
    LEBOVIN

Fiki never said in game, he explicitly said on Forum.
Well the only sugestion I seen here (unless I forgot anything) was to kill trading card game by removing trading, or at least making it completely irelevant.

This is a voluntary project, no one is getting paid. When did you volunteer for something for years?
You thank us and are grateful in start of the post, just to throw random accusations and bashes with no provided facts in the rest.
We all are amateur students/developers, so I don't know which level of Triple A company organization you expect. Most of us aren't even near 30.
Performance of our code is widely affected by the core game, made by EA and reverse engineered by us for years. Not all bugs will be fixable as there are limits to what can be done when you don't have the source code.
No progress being done, yet the server restarts for the updates every now and then. Just because there is no changelog, doesn't mean no work is being done.
Just because you got handled in a certain way by a moderator (who I'm sure did nothing wrong), it does not give you right to render us all "unprofessional it's just sad".
Everyone has a right to give their opinion on card balancing, whether they have 50 hours or 50000 hours of gameplay. Just like you gave your opinion, they have the right to give theirs.
Don't think we didn't look for new developers elsewhere, yes we did but guess what - so far no one is willing to invest themselves for free or they got near acception phase but just ghosted, meaning they were probably in for the code. It isn't as easy to recruit trusted and skilled developer, but I guess you know better than us doing this for almost 5 years straight.
Balancing of the game hasn't even had it's surface scratched, yet you're caps-locking that we will fudge up the game beyond recognition.
No, the player base won't be even smaller after the wipe, it will be few times bigger.

It was considered, do you really think we just blatantly ignore suggestions of this scale?
Can you count how many players disagree with it? I can just say that Russians at vk.com/skylordsreborn and some Polish guys at mmorpg.org.pl are definetly waiting for wipe, and them alone are around 2000 players.
You knew there was going to be a wipe when wilfully signing up for an account here.
To make things clear, I'm refering to the "no wipe please" and not the change suggestion you're refering to.
  13. Dion liked a post in a topic by fiki574 in Is a hard reset really needed?
There is nothing to win or lose with these arguments.
Wipe was mentioned years ago, and we keep stating it ever since. I don't know what must happen to change that fact.
Just because some of you strongly disagree with the decision, it doesn't mean the decision is bad by default.
Nowhere else are you going to see an inventory transfer from Closed Alpha / Beta / Stress Test to Open Beta / Release. Nowhere!
Needless to say, the conversations here got pretty out of hand, no need for calling names and insulting, so keep it polite please.

  16. fiki574 liked a post in a topic by Ultrakool in Introducing .. The entire team !
I guess this is a bit overdue now but better late than never  . I'm Will or otherwise known on-the-line as Ultrakool. I'm from Vietnam, currently living in Germany. It was a silly name I chose a long long time ago for BF and it kinda just stuck. Now basically I use that name in every single online game I play(It comes with putting up with those jokes about my name :D). I enjoy mostly PvP in BattleForge, but back in the days didn't take it so seriously, being younger and all. PvE is fun too but not my main interest. I remember back in the days, getting into BattleForge because of a friend, then he left after several months but I stuck with it on and off until the unfortunate demise in 2013. Like many others here, it was a game I always come back too, even after taking a lot and rather long breaks. In addition to playing the game, I was also involved with the battleforge forums, in the trade section mostly, but in other sections too. Furthermore I was also asked to be a moderator in a fan-made forum by a Dutch person who was known as Lithaladin. I was so involved with the game and the community in fact that, after the game was shut down, were invited to join a Skype Group by MrXLink I think. I wasn't ALL too active in it, but I remember sometimes popping in to reminisce the good ol' days. I moved on to other games but none could compare to BF. Furthermore, I really came to appreciate the community that is BattleForge, mostly compromising of happy and helpful individuals. Compared to other games, playing and conversing in the battleforge community was a breath of fresh air.

Never did I know that I would ever even breath that fresh air again. Alas, the wonderful surprise came when MrXLink linked the new forums in the Skype chat of veterans from BF. Joined the forums few days after it was made and the rest was history. At first it was just @Ladadoos and me spamming for our lives, but people quickly joined. 100,200,1000,5 000,10 000, and now a whooping 57 665. Fast forward to March 2018, when I was (sorta) asked to become Moderator, I was elated, this was my chance to contribute to the wonderful unique BF community I know and love, that never could compare to any other. Being here over the years ( Project started in June 2015) there has been many ups and downs, many lulls, I've witnessed many iterations of the game development, 2 servers, going from only having access to the forge in techinical alpha, to being able to load up maps and entering games, and now with thousands of skylords being able to connect at once. We have improved steadily, and while progress might seem slow sometimes: (The usual reasons of this being a volunteer project and all), like me and thousands of you out there, we always come back to BF, and progress will be achieved once again. The project may slow, but it will never stop. Some time soon I hope to be able to meet you guys in the forge after the reset we have planned! Don't lose hope! Also dont shy away from dropping me PMs if you need anything at all, I'm always happy to help.

Thanks for the nice comment, however no dates are known at this point.
Why would you need to grind though? Play casually just to get the feel of the game, then you won't be sorry or depressed once we reset the progress

Even official servers suffer from disconnects.
And this is not just for BF. Any game can suffer from it.
Pathetic? Pathetic, is a person who enters the forum for the first time and publishes something like this topic.
Are you paying to play? Did you donate to receive "BF points"? I BET NOT.
    Don't judge others' work man.
And if you want to criticize, post something constructive.
This kind of attitude (YOUR) adds nothing to the game community.
A topic like yours does is just the opposite.
And if you find it easy to create something, apply for an "EA authorization" and try recreating the game yourself.
  21. BurningWorld liked a post in a topic by fiki574 in The New Player Experience (Observations & Suggestions)
The game was offline/dead for 5 years. We took over, and we're not professionals. The "hey come to play, we will delete your progress late" period is completely necessary. I know some may not agree or be keen of it, but that's how it goes. There are much more things that we take into consideration behind the scenes, that most people are not aware of.
New player experience is not something we can improve over night (based on a single/few suggestions), slap an Open Beta tag on it and release it to public. That's why we use this stage to test and balance economy, quests, achievements and pretty much everything else.
The quest and achievement amount will be much higher than the current one (Kubik, correct me if I'm wrong) once we hit Open Beta. They should be based around "forcing" (fictionally) specific playstyles and maps.
Rewards gain is currently increased by 244% (iirc, somewhere around here MrXLink said at the start of Open Stress Test). It will be much more balanced in future.
I'm also against some kind of start caps, but as experience taught us, people will use and abuse the cap removals and try to make excuses after they get banned.
As said, this ain't done over night, but I'm sure Hawk, Link, Blank and Kubik will give it a deeper thought, improvement and actualization with some input from the rest of the staff.

NAME: "Connection failed!" when trying to login, and not being able connect again
    SEVERITY: 1
    LOCATION: Login screen
    REPRODUCIBILITY: Always
DESCRIPTION: Error appears, if you happen to enter your password or login wrongly (typo or just improper, whatever). If that happens, then even when you write proper login/password you will still get the "Connection failed!" message instead of "Invalid Account or Password! Please, wait 3 seconds before signing in again" when you do it the first time (write wrongly) (btw, the "Login" button doesn't grey out even the first time). Also when you try to login second time the "Connection failed!" message will appear after game freezes for about ~5 seconds.
So: steps to reproduce it are
    >Start game
    >Enter wrong password/e-mail
    >get the "Invalid Account or Password! Please, wait 3 seconds before signing in again" message
    >write proper Account or Password
    >Get the "Connection failed!" message and blocked entrance.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: 'Hotfix' - enter your password on the first try, either restart your client, if you happen to enter the wrong one. Logs are Added (notes for logs)
Related bug reports: (literally same cause and i think they are related directly)
