Greetings Skylords!
It's been two weeks already since our last community update so it's time to bring you up to speed with everything going on in Skylords Reborn!
Deep Dive: Rarities
As our development of new cards continues, a frequently asked question is the upcoming rarities. These will be the first brand new cards for Skylords Reborn, so we want to have a system in place to provide insights on what makes a card common, uncommon, rare or ultra rare. We have explored this in a document, providing a deep dive into the rarities EA used in their first edition for the game: the Twilight Edition. Even though these are not always consistent, and expansions have not made things any easier, we still can take some lessons from the current distribution and apply it going forward.
If you are interested in the thought process behind card rarities and how we will decide them for our new cards, you can read the full document here: Designing_for_Card_Rarity.pdf
And in case you missed them, here are the rarity icons for our new cards:
Test Server Patch Notes
Iteration 17 of our test server is here! Check out the patch notes. This patch mainly finalizes the PvP changes which will soon hit the live server. Please keep in mind that these changes are all relative to the previous iteration. The final PvE changes will go live in the next iteration.
There are also some noteworthy requested general changes in this iteration. We fixed the inventory sorting, which should now properly sort the cards as specified. We also added a power well and a monument for each player in the forge. You can now test out all your damage combo's without the need to find a building that has exactly the same amount of health as these buildings.
We also made another change to the game that will certainly be the topic of many conversations in the future. We added a preliminary fix so units in PvE maps always have correct orb and power costs. This means that certain abilities, like e.g. Nightguard Swap or Mindcontrol cannot ignore the orb requirements anymore. Please note these changes will not be included in the next live server patch. We want to test and gather feedback before making a change like this, but first had to figure out if it was even possible. You can discuss these and other changes on our balance discord.
Next Live Patch Delayed
Because of a delay of the Test Server Patch we sadly also have to delay the Live Patch we were hoping to release this week. Since this is going to be a big one, we need a little more time to make sure all the bugs (not you Scythe Fiend) are taken care of before we patch to live. Please be patient a bit longer, we are still hoping for a release in August.
Special Effect Tool
Last Community Update we gave you a sneak peek at our new special effect tool. With the this tool we will be able to create fancy new spells and effects. Even though we are currently not able to add new models to the game, this is a great step in allowing us to create new visually appealing content.
We are looking for players who are interested in learning how to create special effects and give feedback on how to improve the tool. If you are interested in this, please reach out to Ladadoos on Discord for a quick explanation. We have plans to open source the editor in the future.
Tournaments & Events
• NEW: Feedback official PvE events
Now that we have hosted two official events, we are looking for some feedback regarding both the events and the stream to improve upon them where possible. Feedback is anonymous and can be provided here. Please keep the feedback constructive and understand we do this in our free time.
• Finished: Community Tournament: Toggy's Tome Invitational
If you played BattleForge back in the day you might remember Tomes. In this gamemode you get a selection of boosters that you have to use to build your deck with, after which you play PvP matches. While Tomes got discontinued around the end of BattleForge and are not available in Skylords Reborn, Toggy hosted a limited-access event last weekend to relive the experience. It was a great success, with crazy off-meta plays and is bound to return. For now you can rewatch the stream in case you missed it.
• NEW : Community Tournament: Toggy's Tome Tournament - August 22th
A new tome tournament has been announced! This one is open for everyone, but you need to sign up in advance by contacting Toggy. This will be another Tome tournament, meaning you will build a deck with a selection of random cards and play PvP matches with them. Sign up and read the details about it here.
• Host your own event / tournament
Want to host a tournament or event? Please reach out to our Event Organizer Hiko to have your event prizes sponsored by us. If you have a cool idea for a PvE event, or want to host a PvP tournament, please don't hesitate to reach out to us, we will gladly assist you.
New Team Members / Open Positions
We are happy to welcome a new member to the team: Kerkk has joined us as a web developer!
We could definitely need some more help with the Skylords Reborn project however.
Below are three roles highlighted, but you can find more information, desired traits and all our open positions here.
Open Position - Map Tester
As a map tester you get early access to new maps and gamemodes and are responsible to playtest them and provide feedback to the other map developers about possible issues or improvements. This includes check how balanced the map is, how fun it is to play, if there are any exploits, if areas on the map need to be prettified etc. Map developers/designers/artists should be able to rely on you to make sure maps that are released or changed are done so properly.
Open Position - Marketeer / Outreach Coordinator
As a Marketeer / Outreach Coordinator you are responsible to spread the word and create awareness about Skylords Reborn and to attract veteran and new players alike. This includes actively researching and reaching out to potentially interested streamers, youtubers, Discord channels, game magazines, among others. You will be responsible for the communication to and from interested parties and for any promotion deals (for example involving scratch codes). Please note that Skylords Reborn cannot do any paid promotions.
Open Position - Artist
As an artist you are responsible to create the visuals required for new content. This is a broad position and there are many areas where you could help in, depending on your skills and interests. Think of loading screen artwork for new maps, card artwork for new cards, visual UI elements for new features that involve adding UI to the game, banners for events/tournaments/community challenges/large game updates etc. Our current artist Tweeto is hard at work on new cards, but he can only do so much. If you have the skills and want to speed up the progress, please reach out to us.
In Conclusion
Thanks for reading!
Is there anything you wish us to cover in upcoming community updates? As always, we are open to feedback so please let us know!
Here is a scratch code you can redeem in-game for 100bfp. COMM-UNIT-YUPD-ATE9
The code is valid till August 28th.

RayG liked a post in a topic by The Harbinger in New Card: Bandit Warlord
This is fully upgraded:
Lifesteal: 20% of damage dealt by the unit will return as life points.
Banditry: 25m-30m range.
• Fire affinity: Increases damage dealt by nearby bandit units by 25%.
• Shadow affinity: Increases lifesteal of nearby bandit units by 10%.
Banzai Birds (150): Summons two banzai birds. These birds have 1k HP and banzai into enemies dealing 750 damage to target and all enemies within a 20m radius, up to 3000 damage in total. Knocks back small and medium units. Affects ground targets only.
Reasons for implementation:
• Bandits lack a devoted t4 unit.
• Bandits also lack an equivalent to Grinder, Abomination, Lost Warlord, etc. Bloodhorn is an excellent card but its functionality differs from those options in most cases.
Initial ideas for unit:
• A summoning ability would be useful but I was thinking if a Bandit King legendary card was created it might be ideal to have it similar in design to this w/ a banzai bird spawning ability as seen in the Mo campaign.
• Due to his lifesteal ability and aura buffs I don't think his HP should be very high, I put his HP at the 5000 range ideally because while the lifesteal is nice I'm not sure if it would be quite as good as Grinders sustain.
• Due to lifesteal relying on damage done I'd put his damage as higher than Grinder as well but certainly lower than Abomination, especially considering he has support abilities.
• Based on initial design I wouldn't place him as better as a unit than Abomination or even Lost Warlord but I think the aura buff to surrounding units would make him worth placing.
• It should be noted that the increased lifesteal and damage would benefit a group of two+ Bandit Warlords but I've no idea how substantial an effect the auras would be.
• Banzai birds are basically better shadow phoenix's as an initial concept. Since bandits already have access to the Shadow Pheonix I figure making them somewhat better, and cheaper per unit, would be an incentive to use the ability. I imagine reducing the amount spawned to 1 would still be useful due to the increased stats.

Simple answer to the poster and everyone complaining about that: G-R-O-W - U-P
Next you gonna make the developers ban people for the things that you complain about which frankly you have 0 understanding of.

RayG liked a post in a topic by Dallarian in The marctplace should not be a economic simulation!!!!!
Economics (/ɛkəˈnɒmɪks, iːkə-/) is the social science that studies how people interact with value; in particular, the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services.[1]
In other words, economics is attempt to understand what is happening with prices in different environments, and Battleforge is environment with production and consuption of both goods and services. I dare a statement that economics is a simulation based on reality in order to predict many, including Battleforge marketplace.
Can you please explain me why knowledge should be forbidden within Skylords Reborn environment?
Your Death Ray example: Thanks to freedom of market, the action is possible to make, and everyone can make such risk. At my time of writing Death Ray is at 95 BFP buyout and is slowly going back to it's usual price. Even with market manipulation, the price comes back to it's usual. Furnace of Flesh is a great example of that. 5 pages of Furnace of Flesh for 500 BFPs was trully impressive, however it took one day for people to restore old, and right now even cheaper price than before 18th Jan. People who do market manipulation will profit only if. other people buy their cards. Therefore any market manipulation is a risk, and massivly buying a card automaticly freezez large amounts of money.
If you are looking for a particular card, you will be familiar with it's usual price and able to compare prices. Maze's SMJ is great for cards comparision and let you know how prices change over time. Buying in unstable environment like this is risky, however suggested solution will not help you. I can think of workarounds right now, so even with more complex system there will be ways for determined players to continue their procedeer. While I do not find it ethical to sell normal cards for price of Promo cards, or worse affinities for price of better ones, it's a good live lesson - be careful for yourself, because nobody will do that for you. Limits on prices would be bad as well - in-game marketplace is too dynamic for fixed changes and heavily influenced by many trends.
And about trying to control marketplace, buying cards for 3 BFP and selling them for 10 BFP is evil. But isn't 16k BFPs frozen in 130 copies of Furnace of Flesh a punishment on it's own?
As time goes on, most cards will get cheaper anyway, while most expensive ones will keep on gaining value. It is a result of some interesting phenomena, but ask more clever people than me to explain it.

But you have game time. 400 possible bpf to be earned daily by simply playing whatever mode, howerver you like. Having quests is just a bonus.
You can choose not to do them. And i mean not today, you can totally wait for tomorrow and get either new ones to get them stacked or a new reroll. And about those 5 bfp you gonna lose, well that is the toll. You can skip doing quests if you dislike the whole mechanic altogether, no one is forcing you to do them.
But to remove the whole system and simply get the bfp, when you already have the bfp over time mechanic, you already have basically free upgrades with gold and you have free max leveled decks for your pvp. Well lets give everyone every card and be done with it, i already think game is way too generous and all i see in the forum now that the game is released is people trying to downgrade it even more with more and more free stuff.

Woudnt be a simple and effective solution to this problem to just talk in anyones native tongue, inn whispering? Someone not speaking or understanding english can ask something in global or whenever but there is no need to answer in lets say german in the chat as well.
Cause its true that its annoying to the majority having witnessed it first hand the chat filled in german in beginner, global and trade at the same time (no joking), propably cause there is no point in what channel you answer since everyone is watchable at the same time. Someone not knnowing or understanding the languege watching an entire discussion in it while trying to spot a WTS/WTB or whatever in chat just doesnt work out, so the extreme of him putting you in the ignore list is kinda understandable. And surely you dont want people to start using this solution freely as lets say you answer in German once, instantly be put in someones ignore list and then thats it you never trade with him again in chat.
And simply the endgame of people freely using their languege in chat and having a constant flood of English,German and add everyone elses language just makes people not look at the chat anymore. Just the same if you had to watch me talking with someone in constant Greek and having the entire server watch us

In that case i can only assume that choosing your own quests would each give you lets say 50bfp. Since its basically free bfp cause you gonna pick whatever doesnt make you not go out of your way and you can earn while playing however you like.
Still i am against this, i already stated that game is way too much easy already and doing stuff like this only dumbs it down even more. You can have a "too much player friendly" situation which i feel would only work against the game longtime. Seen it in a few others as well, try to make it easier and easier and easier until you dont even have to try basically and then games population dies out. Same as i did quited and never looked back at them.
Almost 1/3 of the posts i see now in the forum in some form just proves my upper point right. "I dont like this so change it", " This takes 15m and i wanna do it in 5m", "This would make me do something i dont like for 20m and i hate it", "Achievement is too hard for me so remove it". There is real feedback and personal opinions that dont have any actual basis.
And in the end, yes we have that option to have a real community-developer relationship but that doesnt mean that everyone gets to change everything however they see fit for themselves only. Cause the more we focus on that the less time they get to develop new stuff. And i dont think anyone would prefer to sit and rework the quests for example cause you cant afford 15m to do something you might not like or reroll (but no those 5 bfp loss will bring the apocalypse) instead of working on the so much anticipated new cards, like the shadow/nature deck that we never saw in the old BF.

While reading this thread by diagonal (https://forum.skylords.eu/index.php?/topic/6899-the-economy-for-those-who-have-plenty-of-time-at-hands/), I see that no one mentioned a way to:
1) sink low-meaning cards;
2) boost the price of low-meaning cards;
3) decrease the price of high-tier cards;
4) optional -> have a stable way to use gold at the end-game.
The way to do all that is simple - loot box Reverse booster. Card transmutator.
Call it whatever you like, but have a 10 any lvl cards, add some gold - and you will receive booster you like.
By measuring the color and number of cards used you can generate the booster you want.

RayG liked a post in a topic by Sykole in Seasonal Cycles and Client Handling
Hi, been a while
Here are my two cents. First seasonal cycles, which is about constantly changing cards' stats and certain aspects of the game. Secondly how to possibly find a solution to reconnecting to games.
Let me just say first, I have no idea what you can and cannot change in development, so reject or accept as you may see fit.
Seasonal Cycles:-
Keeps the game interesting and more competitive, especially in the PvP scene, where players should be encouraged to try out new things. Creating the perfect Shadow deck will not necessarily mean it will stay the best, no. Throughout the seasons, cards will receive a buff or nerf in terms of speed, damage and health. Think of it like in League of Legends.
However, this will also be beneficial for the economy as well, since prices will not stay the same. As cards have their stats changed, their prices will drop or increase respectively. It will create a more interesting, to me at least, environment. When you think of it, prices right now in the AH are the same as they were like, a decade ago, so bringing a new dynamic element would definitely aid a game like Battleforge. It died out for a reason after all.
Client Handling:-
Yet again, I do not know how BF handles clients, or how the server does it either, but disconnecting for a moment just to have my 45 minutes progress go to waste is getting frustrating, so why not have a workaround? I assume the game does not accept new client connections, hence the no reconnect option, so why not create a ghost client for every player, and that ghost client "fits the player's shoes" in case they disconnect? Basically it would be one of two things:
1- Ghost client (A) where it is the proxy of the player's client's (B) actions. So (B) takes action -> (A) takes the same action and plays it. Now, if (B) disconnects, and tries to reconnect, it still can (assumingly, do not know if it is possible to send a client into an ongoing game), since the player technically never left the game to begin with, since (A) is still in the game.
2- Basically 1, but without being the proxy. So the moment the player's client disconnect, a ghost client takes place (of course, units will be brought to a halt), until the player's client reconnects.
1 minute to reconnect, if player does not reconnect by then, they surrender. (Assuming any of this is plausible)
Happy new year.

Friend every post that i read that you created is you complaining about something that affects only you. Apart from what Zyna answered to you above you want to match pvp and rpve 2 completely different gamemodes to suit you.
If you want gold specifically then go play rpve. If you did not want to play rpve today then that is on you. Pvp in every game that i have played in 15 years i game is a different mode that does not emphasise on farming something that you can also farm in pve but in fighting other players and what that means.
2 days ago you wanted achievements toned down or outright removed from the game cause YOU personally couldn't do them. Now it is gold issues cause YOU felt like playing a mode that is not the most viable way to earn a resource. Game does not revolve around you pal. We have the chance here for constructive feedback from the community which as proven time and time again is taken seriously by the admins and implemented into the game. Pls keep in mind that that feedback is for the entire community and what the majority likes and not a select few.
Otherwise we will have posts like 'remove a faction cause i dont feel like playing it myself' or 'today is was bored to play pve so you should give me extra gold for playing only pvp'

Or we realize that achievements are supposed to remain what they are: achievements. Not every achievement is for everyone and just because some players cannot finish it, is absolutely no reason to get rid of them. If anything, I would consider the reserves achievement to be the best achievement we have thus far. I have read so many players who had as goal to complete this achievement and felt rewarded once they did so. If achievements are too easy they stop being rewarding or have any meaningful impact. Plus you totally defeat the purpose of having said achievements.
There are different achievements for different people. Calling this achievement not achievable is very unfair, especially considering more than 15% of players have already completed it.

At what point the game becomes 'too much easy'? The guys made everything possible to be on the side of casual gamers that cannot play as much as others and tried to make the experience smooth for them as well since they can't pay up to catch up as in every other game.
But here we are talking about 4 hours around of gameplay. If you can't even afford to give 4 hours of gameplay on a random day of your choosing then I am sorry but how much easier do you want the game to become?
Helping people with time issues is one thing, making the game a bit tonned down to assist the fact that p2w is removed is acceptable and demanded obviously. But dismissing the entire community of hundreds to be on the side of the few that can't even afford a few hours ONCE to get the boosters, then we shoot the game in the foot ourselves.

RayG liked a post in a topic by Danol in Defensive Mode for RPVE
It's very unfortunate that many cards just don't have any use in RPVE. Most of them are defensive cards, like Razorleaf, Stronghold and the like, but also some very slow units like Battleship. This is mostly because these Units/Buildings are stationary, slow or mostly geared towards defense, while RPVE is all about offense.
To counter this, I suggest adding a new RPVE-Mode where you have to mostly defend youself against waves of enemies, unlocking access to new orbs and generators by defeating boss waves.
I know that this is hardly a priority so short after launch and that it will be a ton of work (map generation, scripting, testing ...), so I don't expect to see anything like this for the next months, but I do think it would be worthwhile to add variety to RPVE in the long run.

Has been a few years since i posted a suggestion and actually invested myself again in the project after a few irl difficulties. But as i see that this is the hot topic for now may i offer a solution that might help or simply be the basis for some similar alteration, or just plain garbage xd.
Would it not help if the premade fully upgraded pvp decks were allowed for anything but ranked play? You can use them anyway, anyhow but you can't take them into the true pvp thingy... the ranked games. For that you will actually need to grind the other part of the game as well so that you get the necessary materials to build the deck you want thats it's 'you' and with that you can go and try conquer a spot in the ranked ladderboards.
I am not a pvp guy by any means so i only give this feedback based on what i saw from your own comments. One problem that i see immediately is that game has launched and people have already went into the ranked with the 'op' decks and have already started ranking up.
Hope any of this helps, remember anything and everything here is just to have fun

RayG liked a post in a topic by Ladadoos in We have a release date: December 18, 2020!
Hello Skylords,
The day everyone has been awaiting has finally arrived. After all these years of hard work and dedication we are excited to tell you we have an official release date for Skylords Reborn!
December 18, 2020
As you might know, we will also have a progression reset alongside this release. This means everyone's progress (this includes cards, BFP, gold, upgrades etc.) will be reset on release day. So hold back just a little if you were planning to play before release (or don't if you don't mind losing the progress). We have always said that there will be a reset on release date and it will definitely happen. If you would like to follow what we are up to and what is still left to be done before release, you can do so by looking at our Trello here.
On another note, we are looking for new staff members!
With the game being more stable and bug-free than ever before, and the upcoming release, we will start to look for ways to expand on the current game. This includes adding cards and maps, doing card and map balance changes, holding events and tournaments etc. And this is where we need your help. Listed below are three positions which will be open for applications. If you want to offer your help you can do so by applying in the recruitment section here on the forum. Please apply in the `Development` section and specify what role you would like to fulfill.
- Designer: Design game mechanics related to progression/quests/rewards.
- Map Scripters: Fixes bugs in map scripts, and assists the map designers with map scripting.
- Map Designers: Makes new maps, or polishes existing maps so they can be added as official to the game.
That's it for now! For more information you can watch the livestream we did here. Thank you for your support thus far and we will see each other around.
