    Hello everyone.
    I'll keep it short. Past few months, I've been working on our web API that is completely public and available for everyone to use. I've also created simple, functional (but stylistically not very pretty) user interfaces that visualize and consume the said API.
    User interface applications are open-sourced on my GitHub. The repository also contains complete instructions on how to consume the API yourselves, if you were to decide to create your own frontend applications. But, you have to be somewhat profficient in web development to understand and begin doing stuff on your own. 
    Issues tab is to be used freely for any and all suggestions and bug reports.
    Pull Requests that improve and extend the existing UIs are more than welcome. After manual review, they might get merged into the master branch and appear as a part of the next website update.

Have in mind these applications are also the first version, they will definetly get improved and extended, as well as the API.
    For some of you, these applications and the API open up whole lot of possibilities.
    For example, now you could create an application that tracks the average price of every card and makes a nice graph. You could even extend the search options with card orbs, expansion, rarity, etc. 
    Or you could create an application that tracks all auctions for a specific card and sends you a mail or push notification when a card appears on the auction house, but is equal or below the specified price.
    Average concurrent players/matches graph could be visualized by querying the Statistics API every 2/5/X minutes.
    Those of you who understood everything said and know what you're doing, will use this to its maximum potential.

    What RuneSeeker said. Another option that we have is to make the random chosen map as equal as possible for all players for a a given quest, instead of choosing it random per player. So during a certain week, if someone gets the quest "Play map X on difficulty Y", we can make everyone have the same map for that quest (as much as possible, because not everyone has all the maps unlocked). This map would then change every week or few days.

    I think they are trying to soften that blow by making you pick 2 decks at a time for one week. So you don't have *everything* at once, always only one part.
    I guess it depends on what you consider the bigger issue. PvP being virtually locked for you until you have upgraded cards and can even begin to compete on a raw power level? Or the economical impact of providing a set of cards for free and undermining of the collection aspect?
    You also have to consider that originally all these things were baked into the monetization model. Want more charges? Pay up. That means that being more competitive in PvP was an incentive to spend money. That's not the case anymore, you can't just buy progress. So they have to somehow try to dissect these methods out of the game design.

    We might be able to talk about this in a few years, but right now it would create more problems than solutions for balancing.
    Only a few decks do have sufficient options, that really improve decks at higher slot numbers. If almost every deck has 35+ truly viable cards for PvP, an increase might be an option, but for now most decks would just overload their T3's or add oppressive conditional strategies rather than providing more interesting game dynamics.  
     
    Stonekin is the only exception right now as it has many different unique and viable T2/3 cards, that are not used for slot reasons. Adding them would improve options in T2 and allow different game styles (Attacking f.e. can revolve around different core units, that work against specific factions: Burrower, Mountaineer, Stonetempest, Crystalfiend, Stormsinger, Razorshard) or stick with current options, but with an actual T3.
    Standard meta deck Lost Souls has a very solid core deck structure, that wins scaling games consistently once you are ahead of the curve. This playstyle would be totally unaffected by increased slots, you just increase the options of getting that little lead throughout the game by adding counter cards like Lost Reaver, Lyrish Knight, Skyelf Templar and solidify the raw T3 power level by slot increase (6 slots are really powerful). 
    Some decks Like pure Pure Fire could add something like Global Warming or Spitfire, but these cards don't really add anything and don't reduce any core issues. Relative to other decks pure Fire gains nothing new, while facing some more versitile decks with specific counter units (Twilight Brute, Skyelf Templar) and much more oppressive attack patterns (heavily supported L units, undead army etc.). 
     
     
    Playing off meta decks is always possible, but people usually prefer to stick with the most powerful and most well rounded strategies. 25 slots won't change this. They won't randomly start playing things like Tower of Flames + Architechts call even at 40 slots, because these things are bad and not situational sleeper combos, that are restricted by slot investments. Stuff like Enlightment + Earthshaker might be more realistic, but that's just another toxic basenuke.
     
    PvE implications are also huge on a sidenote, since it makes deck building much more efficient and alot of speedruns are affected by this too. Makes the game much easier in that department. 
     
    Creating more strategic options through card balancing and removing opressive matchup imbalances should be current priority. If we ever reach that goal in a couple of years and get to a larger healthy card pool, slot increases might be reasonable as a result of this.

    I was thinking of a 1vs1 custom map in which player A plays normally while player B is not allowed to spawn units and buildings, but could only use spells. However player B is helped by PvE units that spawn from buildings in intervals and attack player A. The PvE enemy also has camps with defenses. Player A wins when all PvE camps are destroyed while player B wins when player A is killed or the time runs out.
    So basically it is a PvE map for player A, but the PvE enemy is helped by a real player (maybe he should be able to micro the spawned units as well). 
    Any map creator who wants to give a shot at this idea?
    I think it should be possible to let player B not spawn any units or buildings by setting his starting monument + power wells (and extra monuments and wells to take) on an island with high mountains in between the rest of the map (so flying units cant fly over). The rest is basically a normal pve map, so maybe an existing PvE map could be used as a base to test if this idea is really as cool as it seems to me. If it turns out to be great it could also be done as a 2vs1 map (with better pve units) or as a 2vs2 map I guess.

    Greetings, Skylords, Skyladies and other Skyfolk!

    We hope you're as excited about the upcoming release in Q4 2020 as we are!
    In light of this, we recently had some discussions about our internal team structure and decided that there need to be changes.
    As some of you might have noticed, in recent years our administrators InsaneHawk, MrXLink, Blank, and our Lead Developer fiki574, have taken more of a background role. They did a great job in the past and they will continue to help out the project and the team as before!

    However, we decided that these roles should be fulfilled by the more active staff members, more specifically Ladadoos and Zyna, who will be taking over as Administrators and Lead Developers of the project. Blank and InsaneHawk will from now on be listed under the "Founder" role. They were the ones who started the project back in 2015, and without them all of us wouldn't be here today. They will continue to help out the project, but will take more of a background role from now on. MrXLink will continue his work as a Designer. Our former lead developer fiki574 will now be working as an all-round developer.

    Our moderation team will also be undergoing some changes. We will be retiring Ragenarok from our moderation team, since he has become inactive. We are grateful for his past work and wish him the best in his future endeavours! Additionally, our moderators MephistoRoss and Dexirian have moved away from their moderator role in recent years. Dexirian has been fulfilling the role of a System Administrator, therefore he will now be listed among our Developers. MephistoRoss has been doing a lot of important work concerning progression, rewards, and other game features. Because of that, he will, in addition to his moderation role, from now on officially be one of our Designers. The new roles will look like this:
    ADMINISTRATORS - The SR CEOs. They represent and lead the project.

      Bucky sh0rt DESIGNER - Staff specifically hired to create new game designs, mechanics and systems. Think of balance, reward systems, new content, cards, and so on. While it should be noted that all staff members have input on design, designers were specifically taken into the team for this, and have a degree of expertise/experience. Can be contacted for design concerns, feedback and explanation.

    I think you made a mistake with your calculations. 
    3 wells = 96 seconds (50/(0.35 * 3 / 2))
    4 wells = 72 seconds (50/(0.35 * 4 / 2))
     
    Additionally you get of course void power back from the resource booster once it gets destroyed, so with 2 wells it is even worth it if it stands over 14.3 seconds.

    After the dust in the PvP arena settles there is still evil to slay: We must venture to the Nightmare Shard and take it at all cost! So after a lot of PvP tournaments I want to give some sugar to the PvE community aswell. This is a first attempt to give a little challenge on a map that probably nobody speedruns (and surely not on advanced), so everyone should be able to try some new strategys.

    after reaching a point where it just wouldn't make sense to continue working on the now outdated version of the SMJ-Website, I decided to completely rebuild the website with different tools and development strategies.
    The redesigned site is now at a stage of development where I think it is viable enough to replace the old version, which broke with the anniversary patch of 2021 anyway.

    The old version is no longer available due to changes made by the hoster heroku that would require paying to host it, but it didn't receive any more updates anyway.

    The new site provides a lot of the features the old one did and more.
    There are a few exceptions though, which I haven't implemented yet due to time issues, as I wanted give you access to the new site since the old one doesn't work anymore, but I will reimplement them in a later version:

    Also, just as an info, the features that the site currently provides represent about 50% of the features that I plan to add in the future. 😉
    Just like the previous site, the new one will also only provide information about the prices, the cards were put in the marketplace for and not actual sell prices!
     
    If you find anything that is not working properly or is irritating, please let me know and I will look into it. Also, if you have any specific feature ideas that you think would be useful, don't hesitate in telling me about them and I'll see what I can do. Design/Layout suggestions are also appreciated, as I'm not a designer and just did what came to mind, especially the boosters and card details tables with their cells that display the prieces, which I am not entirely happy with yet.
    I hope this little project of mine will be somewhat helpful to you all, as that was my foremost goal from the beginning. 🙂

    Change is coming and before we move to the full release...Let us battle it out on the Testserver to try these changes!
    To get to the testserver, get the data (~10mb) in the official Skylords Discord under channel "#dev-updates-test-server" in Technical and Test Section. Please confirm its working and build your decks before the tournament. Direct link to #dev-updates-test-server

    Format?
    It will be a 1vs1 double elimination best of 3 tournament, the grand final will be best of 5 (one match, no reset). Winner and losers finals will be played on stream.
     
    Prize Pool! (The more people participate, the bigger it will get, of course rewards are for the normal server)
    1st place  - 5000 BFP
    2nd place - 4000 BFP
    3rd place - 3000 BFP
    4th place - 2000 BFP
    5th-last place - 300 BFP
    +1 Booster for every participant (with games) after the reset!
     
     
     
    When?
    On 10.10.20  starting on 2pm CEST(Berlin time), the stream will start about 30 minutes in advance.
     
    Organisation?
    The tournament brackets will be on Challonge, so register and join the tournament there. Please use your in game account name to make communication and finding your enemy easier.

    The streaming channel that will be covering the tournament is DasToggy on twitch.tv .
    In case of problems contact me or one of my mods via Discord, Battleforge or in the stream.
     
     
    Rules!
    -No bugabuse, cheating or insulting the other players. Penalties may vary from a warning to default loss.
    -Disconnection during a game results in a default loss. If both sides agree it is possible to have a remake.
    -Not showing up to your match with after 15 minutes results in a default loss. The plan is to play a round of matches every ~30 mins.
    -After your match go to Challonge and insert the result. That is done by clicking on your match and selecting the winner/stats . The brackets will be updated automatically.
    -The Map Pool is: Haladur, Simai, Wazhai, Elyon, Lajesh, Uro and Yrmia (same pool as in ranked duel). The first match of the round will be played on Haladur, then it is losers choice. Second round will start with Simai, third one... you get the drill.
    -The brackets for the tournament will be shuffled before the tournament starts.
    -Since we play on the TESTSERVER, no cards are banned.

    I would love to see this community grow again and the competitive scene develop aswell so before this game goes into the full release.... test those changes!

    As an alternative to the worldmap, I personally would like one lobby overview list where you could see all open game lobbies at once (that also refreshes each x seconds). Preferably with filters for difficulty, amount of players and an option to exclude specific maps.
    This would really help when you want to find an open lobby for any map on expert difficulty for example.

    Thanks so much for putting the hard work of getting this game up and running again! It was always a lot of fun and I'm happy to see it's back available to the public.
    My one comment/suggestion, would be to simplify the installation process for the less technically inclined. Like, package everything into one download file, make the download page not a screen of text, but just a download button, and maybe 3 simple instructions.
    1. Unzip to Program Files
    2. Run microsoft executable
    3. Start game with Updater.exe
    Also, maybe get the word out there that the game is back! (posting to other similar titles forums with download link)

    Hey everyone,

    I'm Zyna from Germany and I'm 22.
    I started playing BattleForge in 2010 and mainly played PvP back then. I didn't really have a lot of cards, so I mostly stuck to playing pure Shadow. A year later I quit playing actively and switched to other games. I was quite sad to see that the game was shutting down in 2013. In 2015 I heard of Skylords Reborn and was quite excited to hear that there are some people bringing this game back! I started out as a beta bester in 2016 and later was granted the Skylord of Honour role in 2018. Later that year I also joined the team and became a client and tool developer. A few months ago I also started helping with the development of the server. I'm a computer science student so I see this project as a great opportunity to learn a lot of new things, but honestly I'm also very hyped to be able to help with bringing back this awesome game
