  1. Eirias liked a post in a topic by Ultralord in Battle of Tactics #7: This isn't even my final form - PvP Tome Tournament on: 11.05.2024
Great greetings, People of the Sky
For Battle of Tactics 7 we are revisiting BOT 5 and doing another Tome Tournament, but with a new set of rules!

Format and changes to the Tome format
We will play 6 rounds of Swiss-System followed by a normal tournament for the best 4 players.
Every Round will be a Best of Three and the maximum number of players will be 32.

    The twist this time:
    1. Public visible boosters
The content of all Boosters of each player will be visible publicly
    2. Increasing the card pool after every round
All players will start with 8 general boosters and after every round every player will receive two more.
After Round 1: 1x Fire booster + 1x Twilight booster
After Round 2: 1x Nature booster + 1x Stonekin booster
After Round 3: 1x Frost booster + 1x Lost Souls booster
After Round 4: 1x Shadow booster + 1x Bandit booster
    After Round 5: 1x Amii booster + 1x Fire/Frost booster
    3. No Duplicates
Since we are using my website to organize the event, I added a rule that players can´t get the same card again.
So after you receive one Eruption, it's impossible to get another one from any other booster.

    Managed via Website
To support this event and future Tome games, we will once again use my website:
    https://tome.t1421.de
On this website, players can open their boosters and have a public view of all opened ones.
There is also a filter code that can be added to your "custom_filter_extensions.json" for easier deckbuilding in the game.
I have made a video about the features of the page, as well as how to use it:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMLBZydTQPE

    Tournament Rules
The tournament will be on the test server, so all players have all the cards.
To be sure that there are no random/old files clear the content of your [BF]\base\pak-test folder and then start the normal launcher.
It will then download all needed files (may take some minutes so do the day before the tournament)
Feel free to ask me or other staff members if you are unsure what to do.
To start the test server, use the " StartBattleForgeDev.bat " in your BattleForge folder. The tournament will be on the Live-Server! You will have access to all (non promo) Cards during the event in the Free-PvP-Version.
That means you can only use them in PVP Games. To access them you can switch your collection from "General"  to "Free-PvP" in the top left of the Collection window. Disconnection during a game results in a default loss. If both sides agree, it is possible to have a remake. Not showing up to your match after 15 minutes results in a default loss. The plan is to play a round of matches every ~30 minutes. After your match, go to Challonge and insert the result. That is done by clicking on your match and selecting the winner/stats.
The brackets/match list will be updated automatically after all finished their match. The Map Pool is: Haladur, Simai, Elyon, Lajesh, Uro and Yrmia. The map of round one will be Haladur, after that its losers choose.
Against the second opponent, you start with Simai. third Elyon, etc.
(I will make notes in Challonge) The first deck lock is done by a coin flip. (/roll 1)
After that, the winner has to lock in first.
    How to join and schedule
The event starts on                            11.05.2024 16:00 CEST
You can join till                                  11.05.2024 13:00 CEST
I will stream the event starting at      11.05.2024 15:30 CEST Here is my twitch.tv/ultralord_t1421
Player can start opening boosters at 11.05.2024 15:40 CEST
You can join the tournament via challonge but you have to contact me directly over Discord or the forum!
This is necessary so I can send you your Player ID and the Game ID.

Link to the discord is not advertised? I didn't get a manual invitation to the discord, and no notification that the forum post was edited.
I had no idea the discord even existed until I stumbled onto your comment on another channel. Came here to check if it was public or staff-only.

Unfortunately, there are many maps that require ranged attacks to beat (for example, the boss on Oracle can't be accessed by melee units). While it's probably possible to beat these maps by spamming spells and buildings, that sounds more tedious than challenging 🙂

As this is sadly a singleplayer contest, you won't be able to participate with a team of 4

Yes, I corrected this in the goals.

Theoretically yes, you would need to leave 1 enemy alive tho to build up your t4 as reaching t4 is one of the goals.

There are 3 goals and you need to complete all 3:
So, you would still need to win the map after reaching t4 and opening all chests
  6. Minashigo Hiko liked a post in a topic by Eirias in Official 1p rPvE Contest - Resurrection of the Lost Soul - Difficulty 8 - DONE
Probably obvious, but t4 must be obtained by building the monument, not using amii monument, right?

And per @pierakor's question. You could finish the map with all master archers and then build t2-4 when the archers are already amassed, right? As long as you don't summon more of them by the time t2 is available.
Do we even need to beat the map or can we quit once t4 is up and chests are open?

He did not, seed is 51409, and his screenshot shows 45474. It can be also shown in the log, but I am too lazy for that 😛
You need to tick this checkbox, if you want to be on the leaderboard.

    Howdy folks!
As many of you know, I've been streaming my "One Deck" Challenge recently, and I'm almost done with Pure Frost! If you missed these and want to catch up, you can find them in the livestream tab of my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@Eirias_h4/streams
At some point I'll probably clip these videos into their own Youtube videos, but for now I'm just linking them in a spreadsheet, in case you're interested in checking out a specific map.

    The rules of the challenge:
Beat all Expert campaign maps with the same "Pure" deck (no modifications between maps) No Neutral Orb cards (especially Amii Monument) If any teammates join on the map, they also have to use the One Deck At the moment, the only map left in my Pure Frost challenge is Nightmare Shard. I have a couple unsuccessful attempts trying to solo the map, and I'll probably revisit it in the future, but by the time you're reading this I have probably finished it with a partner and am ready to move on to the next deck!
Speaking of which, I promised I'd put it up to vote! I want to take care of the pure decks first, so that leaves Pure Fire, Pure Shadow, and Pure Nature. Vote!

I'll also include my deck lists here, if anyone wants to prepare their own decks to join me in the challenge. Since I haven't started any maps with these decks yet, I'm also open to suggestions for modification. In particular, I might need to adjust the Pure Nature deck to beat Ascension map 2.

The Skylords Reborn PvP AI programming contest - Phase 1
Hello fellow Skyladies, Skylords and other Sky-beings!
We're thrilled to introduce a one-of-a-kind event that combines the thrill of PvP gameplay with the ingenuity of programming. Get ready for the AI Programming Tournament, where your submitted programs will face off in an epic showdown to find the ultimate AI strategist!

    Format
The event will consist of three separate phases, with phase 1 starting now!
In phase 1, we ask all of you, who are interested in participating in this event, to fill out a questionnaire about your previous programming experience and programming language of choice. After the questionnaire closes, we will use this information to prepare an API (Application programming interface) and document it according to your programming skills, such that everyone who is interested will be able to compete! Once the API is ready to be presented to you, phase 2 starts, in which you will have enough time to write and test your programs. Once phase 2 ends, phase 3 will be a tournament, in which all entries we received battle if out to find the best of them all! More information about the technicalities will be presented when phase 2 starts.
    Event Details
Deadline for phase 1: 31.12.2023 Start of phase 2: Not yet determined Link to the questionnaire: *CLICK* Link to the event Discord: *CLICK*
     Why participate?
Participating in this tournament offers a unique opportunity to not only showcase your programming skills but also demonstrate strategic thinking in a dynamic gaming environment. Beyond the thrill of competition, there are fantastic prizes at stake. The specific prizes will be disclosed at the start of phase 2.
In our effort to make PvP more approachable for newer players, we would love to add the option to play and practice against AI opponents. We are currently exploring our options, and your entry could serve as the foundation for this!
Whether you're a seasoned programmer or just starting out, this tournament welcomes all skill levels. We will provide enough documentation, such that everyone can participate with at least a basic program.
    Please note...
We are aware, that this is not a gameplay event and that only a minority of the community will likely be interested in competing. For those of you, who are looking for more gameplay-oriented events, don't worry, we will still have those in the future!
For those of you, who will participate, please be patient during phase 1. We want to make sure, that everything works and all technicalities are figured out by that time, so expect a delay between the end of phase 1 and the start of phase 2. Do not expect phase 2 to start at the beginning of next year, please allow us enough time to prepare everything, which might take some time!
    Special Thanks
Big thanks to @Kubik for providing all the technical stuff necessary to make this happen!

  20. Metagross31 liked a post in a topic by Eirias in No way to easily unlock everything?
In the early early days, we decided that for most players, the "grind" was the fun part. A lot of players said that they played until they unlocked everything, then quit. That said, there's also the test server. You get everything unlocked, fully upgraded, and can even test new cards/balance changes before they go live on the main server. Unfortunately, most people don't log onto the test server, so you'd have the coordinate with someone on discord ahead of time.
But if you want to play PvP with unconventional decks, the "grind" is still at most a couple hours, all of which can be spent doing PvP.
    1. Free PvP decks can be mixed and matched with each other, or even your regular cards. If you build an even somewhat-viable deck, you'll be using at least 10 cards from a regular deck (don't pretend it's a PvP deck if you don't have basics like t1 archers, core spells, etc.)
    2. Of your remaining 10 cards, at least 5 will be common/uncommon (because most cards are). These cards cost only a few bfp. Even 5 minutes of queuing PvP will get you 30 bfp, so getting enough bfp for those cards is trivial.
    3. For your remaining 5 cards (in the worst case scenario) they might cost up to 2000 bfp. You can sell boosters at a rate of 420 bfp per 1 booster, so 4 boosters should get you pretty much any card.
    4. To get the ~20 boosters needed to fill out your deck, you can play every day and get ~1 booster just for playing 30-45 mins. You get an extra 100 bfp discount the first time you buy a booster each day. Do some daily quests and it can be even faster, but we can just assume 1 booster/day.
    5. For beginners, you'll get achievements even faster than the daily quests. if you beat all campaign maps on expert one time (not a grind by a long shot), you get 16 boosters. You'd probably double that in other, smaller quests (like, 1 booster for beating any map with deck level 30).
TL;DR playing 30-45 minutes every day would get you over 50 boosters in a month, which is enough to build a PvP deck from scratch. If you use the free PvP decks as a base you should be able to make any reasonable deck in only a couple days. I see lots of players who have been here for ~1 week and have made their own modified PvP decks. It might take slightly longer if you're going for something crazy expensive like enlighten batariel in PvP, but even that can be easily achieved in a month. If 1 week of regular playing is still too much grinding, you can always go to the test server 🙂

Just to clarify, we moved away from the old rotate-every-seven-days, to rotate-every-24 hours since this original post. This should offer a lot more flexability into finding your deck, especially considering you can combine pools and add your own cards. For example, picking the two decks that contain the most cards you want out of Pure Nature / Pure Fire / Twilight N-start / Twilight F-start and adding your own cards to the result should give you great flexibility to make your own decks. Especially considering the most expensive PvP cards are almost all found in the free PvP decks.
An example; say I want to play Pure Fire, but I prefer Disenchant Purple over Disenchant Green. Then I can select Pure Fire for the bulk of my cards, and Fire Nature, which contains disenchant purple. I can then swap those cards around.
The biggest roadblock I have found ever since I started playing PvP, was not having the other affinity Netherwarp, but that should be a big exception and not the rule of the average PvP deckbuilding experience.
On a more broader note; back when SR got revived, there was a lot of discussion about the availability of PvP cards. Some people complained that giving out free PvP decks would completely ruin the collecting part of the game, and they wanted the experience of slowly building their decks over time. Others opted to have every single card available, which (beside other reasons) would result in choice paralyzis and overwhelming new players without a guideline or framework. In the end we settled on our current system: free competitive PvP decks for every color, with the option to swap between them and add your own cards. This will put everyone on equal footing* from the start, but still allow for experimentation (like me putting Viridya in almost every single deck 😛 ).
*While its common in games these days to have the starter decks be just that; starter decks, the decks provided by SR are very competitive and used by most of the player base. Its more rare to see exceptions then you might think.
Having the rotate system was also another way to allow dedicated PvP players to have a ''point'' in collecting cards and interacting with the market. If you want 3 fully upgraded decks, you would need to collect the cards for one of them. But you should not have to play PvE for months before you can dive into PvP. The old 7-days rotation system was removed however, due to it needleslly block players from trying out decks in their first week(s).
