Monday in a group of friends, a cousin mentioned the name "Battleforge", after reading a news on a certain website about the evolution of the RTS style of games.
Curious with the progress of the game today (I knew that the original server had closed its activities) I went in search of possible servers (unofficial ones) and to my surprise I came across the Skylords.
I would just like to thank those involved in this project for the dedication and great work you have been doing.
I've had time to play for only 2 hours..... but I'm really enjoying what you've done, and the game community seems to be very receptive to who's coming back.
It's good to be back. I miss this game so much... i had too much fun with BF in the past, i hope i can have good times here.
And... Sorry about my "bad english", my native language is not english, and the few about english i know.... i learn from games.

Expanding the afk time? One of the worst suggestions I ever read. Beeing afk for more than 5 min is totally disrespectful to anyone you play with. Ok it can happen that there is something in real life that makes that necessary but then you should live with getting kicked, especially because you are the one that dont play and why should you even get rewarded by being pushed by others while you take energy wells and monuments but dont do anything in return? I even suggest to decrease this time to 1 or 2 min. And if being afk happens on a regularly to consider bans.

Gold, upgrades, chances to get a card from a booster pack... probably everything you get for playing missions.
Refer to saying for PVE players with friends both only there won't be a change for not doing a reset as far as i can see it (i might be wrong or miss something here). And before someone says: He might be right, devs go release the game with no reset: If i'm right it still only count for a small group of player base and devs can't act only for them.
They could make 2 servers (PVP and PVE): The PVE only could start now, but that would mean deactivating some quests the devs put into the game (good for me i don't want pvp daily quests) and deactivate PVP on this server (yeah also good for me and those PVP hater like me XD). Sounds nice and simple... if not every change like deactivate PVP on a server could cause more bugs and problems. Also it means splitting ressources for taking care of 2 different servers with different settings, which is not good for a small dev team (remember they ain't a big gaming factory with hundreds of employees and millions of dollars flying around).
Conclusion: The best thing for the people that want to play the game without reset like me is: Do what you don't like. Wait for it to be finished, trust the devs, stay nice to motivate them (yeah being nice = boosting morale of people working for free = working better/faster thats how morale works... -> doing the opposite: flame and rage = demotivate the devs = you get it and if not simply don't make a post in the forum, it will help i assure you, thx).
And now i want to say something that doesn't sound like i wanted to become a preacher: I want a cute little turtle riding on the construct (the t4 stone siege turtle) for giggles. Theres a small open temple on it, how adorable it would be if there was a happy turtle inside XD (devs don't do i would feel more and even too sad if one of my construct dies)

Have you ever written a program?
If you can measure how long it will take you to fix bugs, you are probably the only one on the world.
I work over 40 hours per week on it, how can I count how long it will take from that?

I can understand that someone really wants the game to come out without progress reset. The loot count and table won't change as far as i have read it. The point of not doing it is for the sake of PVP for balancing non cheat fair games (I may be incorrect, sry in that case). I don't want to play PVP. I don't want to play with random people, because I got some friends that will never cheat and i plan playing only with them PVE. The reset is not good for me and my friends that are waiting and want to start after no more reset.
But if i keep thinking that way i go full ego mode. The devs have a reason. They can't and won't make decisions for some individual, but for the sake of the whole game that they are working on unpaid for. If I want it another way the answer is: Do it yourself! And i won't be able to it. And without you devs i would never be able to play this great game ever again. Yeah i have to wait, yeah i don't like it but that's my personell problem. There will be people that want to play PVP and this game mode will be bad and frustrating if it is full of cheater. I have to respect that, even if i don't care to play it. Decisions can't be made only for me but for the whole. Keep up your good work devs i keep on waiting for release

After having had the chance to play the current version for a week, I am happy to say that I have to retract part of my criticism.

The reason for this is that at first, I didn't realize the upgrade system had been reworked to allow purchases of upgrades for gold, which is an excellent idea.
Initially, I just saw that tokens were removed, looked at the huge loot tables per map and assumed I would have to farm all upgrades by playing the same maps over and over again (which if I remember correctly was a major PITA back in the day before tokens were available, especially in cases were a certain upgrade just wouldn't drop and you had to endlessly farm the same multiplayer map).
Now, given that upgrades can be bought for gold and the prices are indeed reasonable, it makes sense that card acquisition can't be super fast as well.

Not having access to certain cards in the beginning is also easier to deal with, if in turn the other cards you have in your deck are upgraded.
I understand this doesn't solve the issues for PVP players and speedrunners, but the situation for regular PVE players is certainly much better than I thought in the beginning.

A few additional observations from my perspective (might be well-known):

    - The best strategy in the beginning seems to be to never open a booster, but instead always sell them for BFP and buy cards on the market. I don't know if there is a solution, but it feels a bit weird.

    - As has been discussed, currently the rate of card acquisition is almost completely linear. I agree with the people who feel that it would feel more motivating to speed up card gains in the beginning and slow it down later. Total time for completing a collection could stay the same, but the pace would change.
I think the achievement that awards additional boosters for completed quests in the beginning has that goal, but currently it slows down very fast.

Okay so I think there are several points being addressed/mentioned here
1: A lot of you are talking about the reset. I agree that there is a lot of players waiting for reset and as such right now is not an accurate representation of how the player base would be after reset. There are still things to be done before reset but I feel we should wait for that before implementing/testing any changes to be able to fully see the impact.
2:  Having a collection faster (Not in weeks/months).
There are 2 main groups here. One that want a solid progression line and the feeling of building their cards from scratch, trading to get better cards and the other who want most(all) of their cards they previously owned without a lot of effort. Now before there was the possibility of buying BFP/gold to close this gap, however now we have to make a conpromise between these 2 types. The basic cards should provide a solid foundation, and they do, we have added t1 cards for every color, and a very reasonable base for building decks of all colors, on top of 2 premade decks. So if you compare the F2P experience with skylords compared to the original BattleForge you can see that skylords is much more beginner friendly. I think the idea of a temporary full collection in the beginning may seem like a good idea, however there is the downside that new players may be intimidated by the sheer amount of cards that there are. Not to mention the very immense game mechanics present in this game that are even more important to understand for pvp rather than pve. Therefore it is unrealistic to think that even with a full collection they will stand any chance against a more seasoned player. The way I see it there is only one good solution for this, and that is a healthy influx of new players. That way every player can find newbies at their card collection/upgrades/game knowledge level to have a taste of pvp. Mind you, it will not be a full pvp experience but at least it will not lead to as much(any) frustration compared to being roflstomped by old(er) players.
    3: Auction House:
These are free markets, so with the auction house it may seem like the price is high simply because there isn’t enough supply of cards in the market, with the current model people are inclined to sell boosters, which means the net supply of boosters is much less as less boosters will be “bought” from the auction house itself. The high prices just reflect on that. I agree with the suggestion to make more BFP rewards/rather than boosters available and to scale up the BFP price and reward price. However, there is 1 unimplemented feature which will help with this abit We plan to release different edition/booster types which should also help a lot with specific card supply.
All in all these are very important things to think about, but I think you guys are rather biased based on the nostalgia and for a new player, it will not be the same experience or mindset. It is nearly impossible to increase progression while still maintaining some form of progression as with the current rate many have already complained it was too fast( we received some requests to reset people’s collection already)

Thx @Kubik nice to hear. For me that 0,5 % u can edit allready feels like 80% if it includes card changes. No more questions for now from my side.
I can't imagine what the other 99,5% could be. Turn Bf into a shooter? Or Bf meets street fighter? Just foolin around here...
All I wish for Bf server is stable all cards that are in the game are somehow viable and balanced and featured community maps with loot (more pve content).
Since beginning of stress test you improved the game allready a lot.
    Kind regards

Why? I actually know a lot of people that don't play and rather wait for the next reset and an update of the quest system. For different reasons. Some don't play games that have daily quests cuz it interferes with their time management. Some don't like bugs and crashes and wait for everything to be as stable as possible. Some just want to start at the same time as everybody else cuz they missed the Stress Test start.
The second part of your post is damn right tho.

Hi! So great BF is back! I almost wouldn't have believed it.
I'm pretty chilled with the grind. As far as I got the idea, it's still pretty fair for working people.
It always was one of BFs pillars to not having every card easily. I spent more money for BFP than for every other game I consumed and never regretted it.
Just enjoy that you start from scratch and that it will (hopefully) take a long time to get where you want. That'll be the time you'll enjoy the game.

Oh I misread the script output then. You're right. I just took a look at the script itself on GitHub. It's all good.
@Horja Can you maybe try to run the game on another machine? Maybe you do have some sound driver issues which only happen with this game. But that's unrealistic in my opinion. If I get the time, I can write a small script to create a checksum of all the files on my machine. So you could compare them to the checksums on your machine.
I'm working on a new Updater to implement this feature directly, but it will take a while until everything works as expected. Right now there's only the above mentioned method to check if your files are somehow corrupted.

    Hi tymeon,
I'm not sure what the problem is, Windows likes to do funky stuff, but I'll try to help.  Are you on a 4k display?  I would first make sure that your in-game resolution matches your computer resolution.  Then my only suggestion would be to retry number 4.  Here is a picture of my BattleForge.exe and its properties for reference:

Make sure that you have the "BattleForge.exe" file with the DPI override checked.  Also, make sure that the rest of the exe's in the BattleForge folder do NOT have the override checked.  I would then start the game and then quit out of it.  Sometimes Windows likes changing settings automatically, so I would check the properties to make sure it didn't change.  If it stays checked and you are still having mouse problems, then I am not sure what to do.  You can try reinstalling the game, but I'm not sure what the problem is.
Now, for the problem with not being able to give commands, I am not sure what the problem is.  I haven't had that issue.  After selecting your units, you should be able to right click to move them.  You could check in the keybindings.  You may have something else bound to that action, or you may have right click bound to another key.  Those are my only suggestions!
    I hope something here helps!

Hello everyone!  I just wanted to post some random things that I discovered and thought would be helpful to share.  I hope something in here helps you!
If you are getting an error when launching the game that you are missing libssl-1_1-x64.dll, follow this link to get both the libssl and libcrypto files:Then follow this link to get Updater v0.4 if you have an older version: Screenshots can be taken with Ctrl-O, and they are saved in "C:\Users\...\Documents\BattleForge\screenshots".  Also in the same BattleForge folder, you can find your config and keybinding files.  The config file has extra settings that are not available in game.  I wouldn't suggest changing these unless you know what you are doing! If you are getting black horizontal lines or black flickering when you move the screen (different from screen tearing), try turning off SSAO. If you are on a 4k or high resolution display, and notice that your mouse location and mouse input are offset (ex. your mouse is registering as being more toward the bottom right of the screen), it may be a high DPI scaling problem.  To fix it, right click on the BattleForge.exe and select Properties, then select Compatibility, and then check the box next to "Override high DPI scaling behavior."  And have the scaling be performed by "Application".  This fix also works with other .exe's, such as other games or programs. Here are a few hidden controls I found:  Shift+Right Click - Multi move.  Ctrl+Right Click - Multi move / attack.  Alt+Right Click - Patrol. (troops will move back and forth between points, but will walk slowly)  There are probably a bunch of other hidden commands in the game, but I have not been able to find any information about them.  If you have found any sites, you can link them in the comments. Here is a fix I found for having an extremely small mouse pointer on a 4k screen.  Sadly it requires changing your resolution to 1080p.  First, change your ingame resolution to 1920x1080, and then go to Windows Settings > System > Display and change your resolution to 1920x1080.  Your mouse should now be normal sized in the game!  Just don't forget to change back to 4k after you quit the game so you can enjoy your high res display. Alt-tabbing from full screen mode sometimes perma-freezes the game -> play in windowed mode with as high resolution as you want. Force DirectX version 9 if you have trouble with textures, units, etc. If you have frequent random crashes and popups during regular actions in forge or game, you might want to re-download the game and extract it with exactly WinRAR. (7Zip, Daemon Tools, etc. are known to corrupt the game archive files)      #7, 8, and 9 are from fiki574, thank you!
I hope something here helped you!    Let me know in the comments!  And feel free to add more helpful information in the comments!  Thanks.
