  1. Loriens liked a post in a topic by PrimalVice in The Guns of Lyr - 2 players farming
    Hi,
    I'd like to share a strategy to farm coins by playing The Guns of Lyr on expert difficulty with a friend which is more fun and more profitable than playing rPvE plus you get some experience for your profile to look cool and get High Lord rank (10) to be able to upgrade ultra rare cards to tier 3 with gold. Since we don't have 2 more friends playing BattleForge as much as we do, we felt it would be easier to find a scenario we can play with only 2 players rather than looking for 2 more everytime to play Bad Harvest, explaining what to take in the deck and what to do in-game to finish quickly, furthermore there's no time wasted in-between games when lobbies crash or it doesnt load up the game. Few people in-game have requested some help with the map so I decided to make a post on the forum. We managed to beat the map in 16:25 with quite expensive decks but the way of playing leaves some room for mistakes and doesn't require all the charges we used. The map itself grants many ultra rare upgrades so after few finishes when you get most of them in case you get them again you'll get gold instead, which results in getting 9000-14000 per player for finishing the map. I've included the replay and the rewards in the post.
    To watch the replay put the file in Documents\BattleForge\replays, go to your in-game profile and replays tab.
    If someone can tweak our version of this to do it more efficiently or quicker let me know. Also if requested we could try to finish the map without charges or some of the more expensive cards.

    Actually, there was one player...I'm probably mixing things up, but I think his name was MutantFischeCZ or something like that. Of course he didn't use only twilight minions, but he did use several twilight creatures in t2 and t3 instead of more optimal units. He was about on my skill level; I often won but he beat me enough to keep me frustrated at losing to his garbage deck
    @Loriens if you want to see a deck in action with twilight, I played this game with 4 twilight minions:

    Actually managed to make some nice fire/nature and fire/frost decks with 6cards in t1 and 3 in t3:

    (Still need upgrades and charges though)

    What do you mean by "they don't do well with all the must have cards"?
    And I'm not a big fan of bandits but I might try it out one day
    Fire has a pretty strong t1 so I love to play it long if I can, and if you're opponent goes t2 and you're not in a disadvantage you can easily rush him, so I don't want to cut out to many cards on t1 - otherwise I think I should always play pure fire to allow myself that big t1.
    Your post looks extremely detailed, thanks, I will defiantly read it later. I read their faction overview and realy liked it, agreed with the most and learned alot,  I even found out the fire/frost deck I made was almost exactly as their fire/frost deck, I just replaced firesworn with sunderer. In most cases you will face in t1 shadow or fire and sunderer is realy helpful in t1 rushing against them. And firesworn is a pretty useless card imo, not only he cost alot of power for what he does, he dies very fast. Is just better to use other counters -> in t1 for example against sunderer you can use scavanger to bodyblock and sunstriders at same cost(110), and in t2 you can use t2 cards, which are much stronger, like enforcer and gladiatrix for example.
    However the fire/nature was'nt the same, they did'nt put thugs which imo can give you a disadvantage in some t1 fights. Also as much as scythe fiends is a strong card I found it unnecessary as a S counter, because you have hurricane and ghostspears which are pretty strong and they can even killed buffed commandos or defenders, and if that's not enough you can even use mauler. Also because you can only use 1 brannoc at a time I would replace scythefiends with virtuoso, which is not only strong against buildings it has very high dps against L units as well.

    About wrecker I agree is not always necessary, but beside fire/nature is realy helpful against scavengers and is also nice to pop out a sunderer and rush, his ability costs only 20 and lasts for 30 seconds, which is kinda insane imo. Still had to take him out though.
    About the t3 if you take virtuoso, giant slayer and brannoc is pretty decent, I wish the twilight units will get buffed one day so they won't be that weak, would also be cool if the transformation was realy worth it.
    About 2vs2, I agree but in some maps is a split 1vs1 so you can't always count on your teammate and you could use the help of thugs for example.
    Thanks for the reply! will defiantly check your guide later, and btw keep with the videos, they're very helpful and fun to watch.

    A few of my funmaps in the needed .pak format.
    Put those into the ../Documents/BattleForge/Map folder to be able to select them in game. If you don't have a folder called 'Map' in your BattleForge directory simply create it.

    Hey Loriens
    Fire can be played in T10, no problem there. But lets focus on level 9.
    Deck seems very good in my eyes  Disenchant is only needed when you play Bata in T4, so I would remove this card for sure and I'm not a huge fan of Eruption, so I would also remove this.
    Add Gladiatrix for Eruption and Cluster Explosion for Disenchant. And you're good to go.
    As I'm also not a huge fan of Wheels, I would also remove this card and add Healing Gardens to the deck.
    Maybe switch out Surge of Light with Ravage. But if you dont have all charges on Regrowth, go with Surge of Light (+ Healing Gardens) cause SOL really heals much with HG.
    And I like the Protectors Seal, very usefull for LS maps.
    The other cards looks good in my eyes. Should work for the most maps.

    Cheers, DNY

    What do you mean by twilight? Fire Nature? That's addressed; it's a good deck

    Let me go on a a lecture about naming conventions for a moment
    We name decks based on the first 2 orbs. Pure decks are easy. Just "Pure" + the orb type.
    "Fire Nature" and" Shadow Frost" are named like this (instead of twilight and lost souls). That's because in PvP, fire and shadow are the most common t1, so saying it like this communicates the orb order. Same goes for Fire Frost and Shadow Nature, which don't have names (except for Amii phantom, which makes people sometimes call shadow nature "amii")
    "Stonekin" and "Bandits" are usually named like this (instead of frost nature/nature frost or fire shadow/shadow fire) because there are disagreements about which t1 to use. (Actually, I think most bandits players would use fire first, which is why you might see fire shadow).

    Fire and Shadow are very equal t1s. They are classic, strong, and frequently used.
    Nature and Frost both have unattractive drawbacks (too expensive vs no swift). They are viable, but if you can choose a fire or shadow t1 instead, 95% of players would choose fire or shadow.

    Here is a quick overview of the tweaks you'll find in this post:
    -    skip intro videos
    the one you can't seem to get rid of no matter how hard you keep smasing the Esc key
    -    set a custom resolution
    you don't have to make due with the in-game defaults
    -    snap cursor to window boundaries (recommended in windowed mode)
    confines mouse cursor inside the game window

    Before we start:
    The configuration file titled config.xml is by default found under C:\Users\<username>\Documents\BattleForge
    You may open this file by right-clicking on it, then selecting Open With > Choose Default Program… and selecting Notepad, though you may use any other text editor.
    - do not try to edit this file while Battleforge is running, otherwise the settings you made might get overwritten
    - do not make the file read-only otherwise the game won’t start
    - do not forget to save the file after you’ve made changes to it, and before you start Battleforge again

    -    Skip intro videosThe Battleforge intro is unskippable and gets annoying rather quickly. Open the config.xml file as described above and find the following entry:
    skip_intro_movies="0"
    Then change the number between the two quotation marks to 1, as the example shows below:
    skip_intro_movies="1"
    The third-person camera (click to preview) is included in all three modded files as a bonus. I’ve lowered the default minimum camera angle so you can zoom in real close with the mouse wheel to admire those… assets… *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge*

    -    Set a custom resolution
    Since the game engine only supports hor+ and can't handle ver+ (to utilise 16:10 and other vertical widescreen ratios), the wider screen you have, the better.
    Having a larger horizontal viewing area will give you an advantage in both PvE and PvP at the expense of vertical image size. You have to make a decision whether this trade-off is worth it.

    First, open the config.xml file as described above and find the following two entries:
    screenheight="####" and screenwidth="####"
    Between the quotation marks you'll see numbers, instead of # signs. These are the current vertical and horizontal resolutions (respectively). Change these to whatever you're comfortable with but don't reduce screenheight below 650, as GUI elements that don't scale will be partially cropped. My advice is to always maximise the horizontal resolution, then decide on the vertical number of pixels depending on your preference.
    Note that if you were to use the in-game Settings menu after this step, Battleforge will reset the resolution to default (screenheight="768" and screenwidth="1024") therefore you'll be required to modify the config.xml file again.

    Next, find the following entry:
    fullscreen="1"
    This might already be set to 0, buit if it isn't then change the number between the two quotation marks in order to enter windowed mode, like so:
    fullscreen="0"

    By using a smaller vertical resolution nothing gets lost or cropped, however everything on the screen will be that much smaller to allow for additional horizontal screen space.
    Here is an example of a 24:10 window ratio that - in essence - gives you 50% more horizontal viewing area by reducing vertical image size by 33% (i.e. running the game in 1920x804 instead of 1920x1200).

    -    Snap cursor to window boundaries (recommended in windowed mode)
    Whether you have to, or choose to play Battleforge in windowed mode, you'll notice how awkward it is to scroll around the map by using either the arrow or WASD keys. Moving the mouse cursor to one of the screen borders requires way too much precision, as there is nothing to keep the cursor within the boundaries of the game window. Fortunately there is an application called Cursor Lock created by SnakeByte Studios. It's purpose is to confine the mouse cursor inside a specified window.
    You may download the tool by clicking on this link: http://www.snakebytestudios.com/download/cursor-lock/
    Once downloaded and installed, double-click on CursorLockSetup.exe to launch the application. You need to change some of the settings before running Battleforge:
    1) While on the Shortcut tab, click Program Mode. This should be selected by default.
    2) Under Program Options, tick the box next to Open Program and click the browse button on the right to navigate to the location where you've installed the Battleforge client. Select BFRebornLauncher.exe then press OK.
    3) Under Program Options, tick the box next to Lock Program and click the browse button on the right to navigate to the location where you've installed the Battleforge client. Select BattleForge.exe then press OK.
    4) Under Standard Options, tick the box next to Lock Region and select Window Interior from the drop down box.

    Finally, click the Create Shortcut button in the bottom right corner of the window. Save the shortcut to your Desktop, or to your preferred location. You'll need to run Battleforge using this shortcut from now on.
    However, you don't need to run Cursor Lock ever again (it starts and shuts itself down automatically as required).
    The mouse cursor will now snap to the inner part of the game window, allowing you to scroll around the map by moving the mouse cursor to the edges - just like in full screen.
    Below is a snapshot to guide you with setting up Cursor Lock:

    well for me is one of the major fun and gameplay parts in a trading card game the farming and trading but if you have them all on max its for me a bit like using a cheat the game looses something improtent. hope ther will be some sort of a reset to set the account back to start. so you can enjoy the full game once again.

    @GenetixX I would say it will stay free not even such micro transaction since EA has forbidden to make profits with the Game (its in the gray zone but can be very risky maybe after 1-2 year later an option but not at start) there can also be the option that later on players get bigger and better starterpacks to start with the game. right now will it only be common or a few uncommon.

    so what if you cant login or play, you waited this long so waiting obviously isn't a problem to you. I just try to enter every now and then, since it started i wasn't able to get in once but i see people commenting that they play and thats enough of a satisfaction for me, just knowing that all of this is going somewhere and knowing that at some point we will all actually be able to play like in the old days. I do hope to get a chance to login at some point but i'm happy nevertheless.
    Cheers to all
