Ok I have been around BF since early Beta... and by that I mean 2008.  Love the game, love what its about and I hate Phenom for not doing more of a marketing campaign in the US  ( And Root Network Nerf! ).
    With that said.....
WTH are we waiting on in regards to implementing changes to some of the cards.  Those of us who have been around know damn well that SOMETHING needs to be done to cards.  This project has been going on what 4 or 5 years now and how many have been changed?
I am sorry but I have a problem with this.  The community has come up with several ideas which honestly are GREAT.  Why are they not slowly being implemented.  One of the things that hurt this game is there were cards that flat out needed to be NERFED and many that needed to be buffed.  Having worked on a project I know that most of the changes are simple edits to the scripts that change the cards as well as an edit to the card itself if it is not an auto update based on the script.
We are in Open Stress.... and have been....... for a long..... long ....... time now.  We need to start pushing changes to cards forward and get it done before we go live whenever the hell that will be.   I have seen the posts about a single person holding up card balance.  I do not know how true it is.  But we need to start implementing it.  Imagine just how many we could have done in 4 years. ....... And had time to get it right!

Honestly if you want Hype.... Especially for those of us that have been around for a long long long and I mean ancient times.  I would suggest balance the cards we have first.... At least some of the Major ones for each faction.

That alone will change the dynamic of the game and allow for a fresh breeze.
  4. Darian DelFord liked a post in a topic by Eirias in Proposal: Gold Sink by Voting
We've had lots of discussions regarding gold sinks and what to do with too much gold (this one recently)
and I have a (maybe) solution.

The idea is that all players could vote on something by spending gold. These votes would be mostly trivial and affect some in-game reward.
For example (now that we know re-skinning is easy and we can add new promos), each month there could be a vote for a new promo. Perhaps each month someone (could be devs, or just random decision) chooses 5 cards. All players can "buy" votes by donating gold in the marketplace, and whichever card has received the most donations will get a promo release. The 2nd and 3rd place cards will stay up for votes next month, and 2 new cards will replace the 4th and 5th place card.
This gold sink would be ideal because it would be completely optional, but players would also feel proud to know that they saved up a ton of gold and were able to influence the voting so that we now have a promo ice barrier or something  Once a player has all upgrades, they have an easy way to spend any amount of gold that they want.

Sorry never played MtG nor do I care to.

BF is unique in that you build a deck, and then there is no randomization to how they are drawn other than power.  Your deck literally comes to life.  There is no other game out there like that.  This allows for some very interesting uses of cards both in PvP and PvE.
I had ALL the cards in the original BR in about 6-9 months.  (2008-2009)  And I still played until the day they turned the servers off.

Fire T1 has no chance against Nature T1,..... we must spread this so the fire T1 Players auto resign when they see the first set of swift claws ;ppp

While by no means an official answer my best guess is, when they can get to them.

For a fully powered Root Network, it is a 6:1 ratio if you have a fully upgraded root anything.  The nerf you are referring to was a reduction from a 9:1 ratio and the radius in which root networks can root to each other.  I believe the reduction was 10 meters.
The advantage of using more than 6 supporting units/structures for a root network is the ability to spread it with a few active units.
  12. Darian DelFord liked a post in a topic by Kaliber84 in BF Font alternatives
TL, DR: I looked for BF fonts and these are the ones I found that share similarities.
In my quest to create a logo for the Battleforge Creator's Guild channel (formerly Skylords Reborn Community) I have been on the lookout for fonts that are similar to the one used in the original logos of BF. As I have already experienced when helping with the creation of the "Battleforge Reborn" banner it is incredibly time-consuming to create every letter by hand. You need to determine or recreate the core shape, add background layers, colouring, shading, and then fuse all of the letters together into a whole by texturing and blending it together. So for new projects I'd like to have a font at hand where I can at least use the shape without the need to do major adjustments to it. Someone with more typographical knowledge than me might find something even better than I have. But these are my results.

@Darian DelFord Your thread from 3 years ago might be a bit outdated but if you`re still interested here you go.

    Disclaimer:
All of the fonts are licensed and need to be bought for official use. As I don't have any commercial interests I take the freedom to use them as templates and modify them as needed. Just keep in mind that this is not open-source or freeware per se.
    Ravenwood - https://www.fonts.com/de/font/aerotype/ravenwood
This one really stood out as it is almost exactly the same in many regards. While at first it might look a bit weird when comparing it to the BF font the single letters share many characteristics like general shape, thickness, proportions and even the edges line up in most places. If anyone ever has the ambition to recreate a Battleforge font as a whole this would be the place to start and adjust.
    Gottar - https://www.fonts.com/de/font/intellecta-design/gottar
This one is not really that similar to the BF font but then again it shares a lot of details with it where the Ravenwood font is lacking. This font should not be used as a direct alternative and can't be used to predict what letters would look like that are never seen in the original BF banner. But it can be used to complement the Ravenwood font with parts and details.

New deck button in the left corner of Forge interface.

It is a combat timer.  Units are still considered to be in combat and can not open chests for about 5 seconds.  Once the timer is done there is no problem opening chests.
  15. Loriens liked a post in a topic by Darian DelFord in Balancing Discussion: The T1 imbalance in PvP
If it works the way I understand it to work, it will not affect the AH at all.  The card abilities are merely a script.  Each card has a script(s) that controls it.  All that needs to be done is flag the PvP maps, so that the new scripts will take affect.  That is a simple conditional statement.
Also as noted a change for 1v1 PvP can vastly affect 2v2 and 4v4 and vice versa.  If you truly want to balance the game between PvE, 1v1, 2v2, and 4v4 this is really the only way to do it without screwing something else.  BF is NOT an easy game to balance.  However This is a change which can be done.
Its really not that difficult to do, I have done it for games in the past.  The question is, how are the scripts stored, how they interact with each other.  The hardest part of this whole thing, believe it or not would be the forge.  As that is neither a PvE or PvP zone.

However any further discussion I would like to have in the other thread as to not derail this one, hence the reason I put the link in my post there :>
  16. Loriens liked a post in a topic by Darian DelFord in Card Database Duplication for PvE and PvP
I can nay remember the answer to this question so will ask.
Is it possible to duplicate the card database?
I ask for this reason.  One thing that destroys RTS games which have a PvE and a PvP using the same materials is they can vary in mileage greatly depending on which you play.
If you make a PvP change in the name of balance, it can royally screw the card in PvE.  So is it possible to duplicate the database then somehow make changes to the PvP database which would not affect the PvE database.  I am sure it is not an easy change.  But in the long run, may be the easiest way to bring balance changes that does unintentionally affect one or the other.

I to have to stress that I never had a bad time with anyone on the forums or in game.  Even with all the Fire/Shadow/Frost players who refuse to go to the light of the Nature side, they have been nice and formal.
As mentioned above just look for other players.  The vast majority who have been here for a while, understand the game is trying to get new players and will go out of their way to help them, myself included once I get everything working again.
