  1.  I think the topic is being overblown to a large degree. Nocap, did anyone ACTUALLY use either card at all? Is anyone actually nostalgic for them to any degree? If I had to choose with whether I agree or disagree with the change, I'd go with agree, because I'd rather not worry about the image bothering anybody at all.

@Fimion If you feel like "wokeness" is going to ruin Battleforge, what do you actually mean? I quite dislike the term, because it tends to be used in a way that undermines the important aspects to the movement that haven't been commercialized for profit. What about the image do you think makes it justified that it shouldn't be changed? What does it do for you? Is it because it was from the original authors; therefore we shouldn't change it? Isn't that the entire point of Skylords Reborn?

My mind is just being blown that someone is having a semi-conniption over the change.

Edit: Can anyone change my vote? I actually voted no without reading the post because how could I have predicted what it was actually about lol

Since you've brought it up let's stick with your example card, Infect. A highly sought after, ultra rare card that's always been expensive and I guess out of reach for some players, especially newcomers. It definitely shines in the right deck and makes life easier. But is it really a necessity? Not to sound like a broken record but I still believe that no ultra rare card is needed to finish the game (on any difficulty). I view it as some kind of a luxury item. Something to work towards to. High-end ultra rares and especially rares will not fill that role anymore. I understand why you ultimately decided to go with it but I still don't like that you've sacrificed this aspect in return.

There is a difference between settling with a working strategy, or using the strategy that is fun for you. If all the cards you enjoy playing or want to play with are locked behind either a lottery system or an extremely high grind wall, then that will detract from the experience overall for new players. I don't really think we have the luxury of that for the most part either, being a niche game and all.

The system was already generous as far as bfp gain and card acquisition goes (daily quests, achivements), FAR more than the original design, it did not need a new way to crush higher end / rare card prices imo.

Because of how reforging works, card prices are now tied to rarities rather than their usefulness or the value they provide in games. Bad rares and ultra rares will become valuable craft materials, despite how little they offer during actual gameplay, which is not ok with me. There are essentially no bad pack openings anymore as you can just sell 4 bad ones and buy something good off the auction house or if you're the gambler type you'll roll into something good eventually.

I personally like the feeling of my hard work paying off and getting something rare and valuable at the end of my days/weeks/months long grinding session. Unless we're talking about promos, it's not there anymore. Everything's within reach now. Maybe it's just a me problem, but maybe there are others out there, missing this feeling. I'm happy for everyone enjoying the system though and hats off to the very dedicated dev team.

So you're saying you liked shamans going for 800+ bfp?

I'm being a little shit for that statement haha, but I just like how this let's people gather more of a collection potentially faster while letting people with much fuller collections have something to do. Also, there are still pretty large gaps between useful cards and not useful card, but I'm sure it can be tweeked a little bit to have rares and mythics still be a bit... rarer? As is, I love the mechanic, plus I love more lottery-esque stuff that really gives me that rush of adrenaline. 😄

    What I don't like:

    - reforge system - I like the collecting aspect in card games, having to either pay, trade or grind my way to a specific card I've wanted for a long time, and while Battleforge is not your classic tcg in that sense, this aspect was completely nullified with this system. It makes me want to play less, not more

Why does it nullify the system?

I for one really enjoy the aspect of being able to get rid of all my extra commons laying about catching dust. Idk if you thought you get to CHOOSE what you want, but it's a tiny random lottery that seems very fair so far with my testing.

Just to clarify, the Balance Developer position implements changes to new or existing cards. So for example, I would design a card, say Wasteland Wing, and the balance developer then uses the tool to create that unit within the game. Or we decide to allow Ravenheart to summon ships with X cost, and the balance developer makes those changes. Or the Map Makers need a new boss unit, so the balance developer creates the boss. We have an in-house tool that we use to do this and it is just a matter of spending enough time familiarizing yourself with it to help out in this way.

Oh! I didn't realize. I might actually apply then. 🙂

  6. Amazing new card! Getting all this tier 4 support for archetypes that seemed to be lagging behind in power level is really exciting. I especially can't wait until any potential new campaigns come out to be able to try them on.

As for the name of the card new card:

    Name: Wasteland Scourge
    Ability: Tainted/Infused Cleanse

The ability honestly sounds fine, as it's better to name them something familiar. Otherwise, I think the word Scourge better conveys that this monster is the apex of it's surroundings, rather than naming it Wasteland Wing, which rather sounds like it's implying for there to be many of these kinds. Even if it ends up being named Wasteland Wing, it still sounds cool, and any tier 4 bandit support is SO very welcome.

I'm also so tempted to try applying for Balance Developer, but IDK if I have it in me to be able to do the job justice, as I don't play much pvp.

Either way, you guys have been doing an absolute amazing job, keep it up!!

I only play true ethical SSF hardcore. I give away every meta card I draw because it is unethical to keep it. When I lose a map, I delete every card upgrade I used on that map because it's not true ethical SSF hardcore otherwise. I disenchant every meta upgrade I land because it is unrealistic to ever get the upgrade I want in true ethical SSF hardcore. I skip XL units because they are unethical powerhouses. Every time a Cursed Orb or Cursed Well drops, I immediately remove a random card from my current deck to increase the challenge. I've had beginner chat and strategy chat disabled since I got my closed beta invite because player interaction gave too much advantage. I've sent at least 84 emails to the Skylords devs over the years asking for unlimited ignore player space so I can make sure that no one talks to me when I'm in the forge. I read and listen to every NPC callout, unit quote and lore entry to fully immerse myself in the true ethical SSF hardcore experience. Every time I go into this general and read the word "meta", "trading", "amii monument", "batariel", "nightguard", "mark of the keeper", so on and so on, I make sure to thrust my giant vibrating dildo one to three times to punish myself accordingly for tainting my TESSFHC experience. I've stolen at least a dozen credit cards from my parents to pay for the patreon to show my support for the Skylords devs and the true hardcore game that they have revived. Why do you self-proclaimed SSF hardcores even try to pretend that you're truly SSF hardcore? You make me fucking sick.

Wtf? A little too hard on the gas there. Also I don't even know what SSF means even after looking it up.

  8. I feel like this is such a non-issue, and that there are other cards that need more attention.

The main mechanic behind the shrines is multi-tasking, since they don't inherently do anything by themselves. I find it very engaging (yes, I am very practiced in it), and I never thought of it as boring or grueling.

Also, shouldn't the argument be that all the shrines be changed in the same way then? Healing gardens is very similar in that you almost always want it to be permanently on in rPvE, especially with Wheel of Gifts regen on.

Hey, i did not mean to be rude or something. I had a very similar idea before and it would be the thing you made just as a nerved amii monument. What i write here is just my opinion and no offense to you. I simply imagined having this option in the game and immediately saw how much more powerful most of my decks would become. Versatility is very important to me, but not if it translates into raw power like this. People do switch orbs but you always have to consider losing the other element and permanetly losing power.

About versatility in this case: Here is what will happen in (for example) t1 if people get this card: They will simply combine the strongest cards of two factions..cards that are already being played most of the time. You will still see nomads mines shamans surge of light and homesoil windweavers motivate etc...just people will get double the power in a combo now. How many cards with more flexible orb requirements would this devaluate in the game? Ever thought about it from this perspective? If i wanted to invent new cards then i would maybe invent one that synergizes with existing cards which are never played. For example i would think if your shrine would make nox carrier a great and useful card to play again, then that would add some versatility.

Some cards add the possibility for a new metadeck and you can call this versatility, but for example look at all those batariel decks in every rpve and almost every expert campaign map. Sure, in theory enlightenment and amii monument add more versatility, but just look at the results they are bringing.

I don't necessarily agree unfortunately, but I don't see us ever coming to any consensus at this rate so I'll just agree to disagree if you will.

Also I had not taken any offense before if you were wondering. It's all a fair discussion.

Use your imagination: An idea for t1 - you could have red nomads now and simply heal them with ray of light. Or windweavers and the minespell or homesoil. Think about a sunderers with shamans in your t1. Harvester plus heals or a bunch of lost shades plus the 2 heals which suddenly are available on points in maps where you should only have 2 orbs at this point. Take 2 chaos knights and let them walk with their ability into an enmy base but shield them from a distance with frost socereresses or simply heal them as you watch how everything dies at its own hands...you wont even need to add befallens curse but you could lol. The maps are not made for such extra thick cheese. If you would ask me, i would turn the amii monument into this thing xD (y come at me bros) ..then at least you had to play the game until t3. Add this to amii monument and you can almost play every card in the game at t3..that is GG on almost every pve map, with no sweating involved - on expert.

It loos interesting at first, but the longer i think about it, the more it looks simply like powercreeping.

But is the added versatility worth over tier 2 that costs 25 more power? Also in pve, you can already use multiple colors by switching out orbs, it just costs 100 power to do so. This card was more of a way to make a more practical way of doing it. Also, rather than saying how op it can be, costs can always be tweeked, this is just my first draft of the idea.
