  1. Prize, or price? I think a bfp prize would be good for the top %, in addition to cards for maybe the top 3. For instance, if there are 100 players, then perhaps the prize pool is 200 bfp (possibly accommodated by a 2 bfp entry fee). Prizes might be distributed as follows: 1: 55 bfp 2: 40 bfp 3: 30 bfp 4: 25 bfp 5: 14 bfp 6: 10 bfp 7: 8 bfp 8: 7 bfp 9: 6 bfp 10: 5 bfp (I did this freehand, with no graph, so I wouldn't suggest taking those values for real). Prizes could extend even to the top 20%, for instance. The idea is that the more people who will come out ahead by entering the tournament, the more of a chance everyone feels. For instance, if you only have prizes for top 3, and Silverdragen, RaxicalX, xHighTech, cdkillroy, and Anonymous all enter, not even all of them will come away with a prize. I wouldn't stand a chance at coming ahead, let alone players that are going to try getting into PvP for the first time. Obviously we participate in tournaments because they are fun, but it's much more fun when you feel like you have at least a small chance of winning something. In any skill level distribution, the "unbeatable" players comprise a very small part. When you have, for instance, a Patriarch play against an Emperor, the warchief has very little chance of winning: perhaps 1/20. But when you have an Annihilator play against a Ruler, the lower ranked player might have a 1/5 chance. When you have Devastator vs Crusader, it's almost a 50-50. So basically you should spread the prizes out so that players get prizes that worse players have a possibility of beating. In general, I think that number is around 10%, but BFR has a high concentration of really good players, so at least for the first tournament it might need to extend up to 20%.
  2. The movie is The Sound of Music, the specific piece is "My Favorite Things"
  3. Okay, I think I've got it now: To the Tune of "My Favorite Things" Amazons and a half dozen treespirits, Hurricanes that toss all S units near it. Knocking back units with red razorshards, These are a few OP Nature-Frost cards. Frosty aggressors with L unit knockback, Homesoil buffs to my stormsingers' attack. Fighting off beasts with a fleet of stone shards, These are a few OP Nature-Frost cards. Timeless ones, tremors, and silverwind lancers. Shield building for the most defensive answer. Curse well and Brannoc if feeling try-hard These are a few OP Nature-Frost cards. When the mortars cliff When the juggers charge, When I’m feeling mad: I think about all my OP stonekin cards, And then I don’t flame so bad. (repeat)
  4. That's sort of what I figured. Are juggernauts annoying? How about fire dancers? I'd rather make the stanza multi-factional, but this might work? As near as I can tell, skyfire drakes are a stonekin player's least favorite card, but that's too many syllables. . . When the dancers cliff, When the juggers charge, When I’m feeling mad: I think about all my OP stonekin cards, And then I don’t flame so bad. Believe me, no one wants to hear me sing . But I do live at one of the best public music schools in the world, so I don't think it would be too hard to find someone to sing it, if we got something good. It would be even better if someone from here would sing it though .
  5. oh, well yes, ideas of parodies of any songs are cool
  6. Well, what would it be if it wasn't a parody? If you want to write your own music, all the more power to you . But my skills are in words (I'm a poet) more than music, so all I can help with are lyrics. Also, we need someone to sing for us @Kiwi you're the most famous girl on this site, can you sing?
  7. I mean . . . "glory" and "sundy" are pretty terrible. But that was the best I could come up with (hence I switched to stonekin). Do you guys like "ranged units'" or "stormsingers'" in line 8?
  8. Well . . . they're slant rhymes. (idk why, but almost all of my poetry uses more slant rhymes than real rhymes.) But yeah, I think the stonekin one is better . . . but no idea how to do that last part. @Aragorn @MaranV @thesikaleon What are the cards that stonekin players hate? Preferably not nature or frost cards that they also have access to.
  9. So the forums have been a little quiet recently, hopefully this will help liven things up I was watching a Smash Bros. parody song, and that inspired me a little bit. (It's here, if anyone is interested in smash). So I was thinking: what if we all work together to come up with battleforge parody song lyrics? I was thinking about something for The Sound of Music, to start, and here's what I have so far. To the tune of "My Favorite Things" Amazons and a half dozen treespirits, Hurricanes that toss all S units near it. Knocking back units with red razorshards, These are a few OP Nature-Frost caaaards! Frosty aggressors with L unit knockback, Homesoil buffs to my ranged units’ attack. Fighting off beasts with a fleet of stone shards, These are a few OP Nature-Frost caaaards! Timeless ones, tremors, and silverwind lancers. Shield building for the most defensive answer. Curse well and Brannoc if feeling try-hard These are a few OP Nature-Frost caaaards! I haven't thought of anything for the "when the dog bites/when the bee stings" part (mostly because I don't know what cards stonekin hates). I'm also not entirely sold on the repeating part. Could be "These are a few of the best Stonekin cards," Or just: "These are a few of my favorite cards." I originally tried some lines with fire but ran out of rhymes (shards is a pretty good rhyme for cards). Here's what I had for fire, in case anyone thinks that's more viable: Nomads and Wreckers and Banners of Glory, Firesworn, Mortars, and hard-hitting Sundy, Quick-witting scavengers dart toward the scene, These are a few of my favorite things. When the freeze hits, When the eagle screams, When I’m fee-ling, maaaad: I think about all of my favorite things, And then I don’t feeeeeel, sooo baaad. Post your own ideas for BF music parodies, or help this one out! UPDATE: For those who haven't carefully read through the entire conversation, the lyrics we've decided on (for a "My Favorite Things") are as follows: OP Stonekin Things (we still need to work on the title though) Amazons and a half dozen treespirits, Hurricanes that toss all S units near it. Knocking back units with red razorshards, These are a few OP Nature-Frost caaaards! Frosty aggressors with L unit knockback, Homesoil buffs to my stormsingers’ attack. When the mortars strike, When the juggers charge, When I'm feeling mad: I simply recall the OP stonekin cards, and then I don't flame so bad. (repeat)
  10. @bobfrog Um, I can try streaming? If that would be better than just youtube videos. Did you decide that everyone will need to have a deck level 0? If that's the case, I'm probably not going to remove the small upgrades from my deck (unless prizes are astronomical and I think I can get them), so I'll be disqualified. I think the prizes are also kinda small. Especially if you get backing from the BFR team, it might be nice to have prizes for the top 10-20% (with major prizes for the top 3-10 people, depending on how many people there are). With backing from the BFR team, it would be nice to give every participating player some kind of prize (like 10 bfp, or something) to encourage participation in community events. If the BFR team doesn't assist with prizes, a small entry fee (like 1-5 bfp) might be a good idea, with the pot split exponentially between the top 10% of each category. The biggest problem I see with this tournament is that players who want to play ranked will not want to participate in this tournament because they'll have to give up upgrades for ranked as well. To offset this, you should have enough prizes that every player who is good enough to be inconvenienced by not having upgrades for ranked will be compensated by bfp or cards.
  11. For those interested, I posted a few more replays with YaBro0. One is a nice 2v2, and the other is a Rookie Review Starring @Ultrakool:)

      Yay, more BF replays!

  12. Hmm... sometimes I do that to prepare for t2. I'll sacrifice a scavenger to provoke a nox trooper and ability, and I use the extra bit of power to t2. It really depends on the situation, and it probably wasn't the best decision most of the time, but I think I allowed the nox to kill my scavenger more than most people did. Unfortunatly, I don't have many replays saved . I'll be on the lookout for others though! Which maps do you think will be the most likely for that to happen on? That would help narrow my search.
  13. @RadicalX Every time I read this, I lament that I can't give your post multiple reps Btw, if you'd like more replay examples, I can find them for you. I'm not entirely sure what you're looking for here? I'd look for you if I knew what you wanted. Usually I don't see much t1 fighting in Simai, like you said, because usually both players would rather not take that center. But if you tell me a specific scenario you'd like me to find (sounds like you're just explaining how to punish a fire player for poking around with a scavenger?), I'll do it!
  14. Just uploaded a replay sent to me from Taker!

      I'll check it out

  15. I made a post explaining how to calculate power a long time ago: You can also see the associated video: But if you just want a simple answer, then you get 1/50 (2%) of your void power back every 2 seconds.
  16. Some very nice points! If you would like to illustrate your points with graphs, you can use desmos and the equations I used in my math guide. If you would like me to make more graphs for you (such as graph that calculates total power spend if you spent it whenever your power pool reached X), I'd be happy to! I'm also more than willing to correct types or make a video series out of this post
  17. Just uploaded some replays co-commentated with @anonyme0273!

  18. Wait, since you have experience with every deck, would you mind taking a look at my deck building guide?
  19. Yes, Sorry, I meant @Blank. But yeah, that was the thread I was referring to.
  20. According to InsaneHawk, multi-accounting in-game is allowed. I never smurfed. I'm no MaranV though.
  21. I understand this. I just mean that there are very few BF units for which this calculation is useful. Unit-on-unit fighting is rare outside of t1, because both parties usually have different objectives. Usually one player wants to spawn units that kill other units (and counters become very important here) while the other player is trying to do something else, like gain ground presence or drop a well. I can't think of a single scenario where 3 silverwind lancers and 4 bandit lancers would be fighting each other. There are also a ton of abilities that matter much more than the real stats, like the firedancer range and siege. Also, for many units, attack or defense is more important. For instance, skyfire drake has a very low efficiency because it has high attack but low health. For skyfire drakes, especially since many things can't hit them, attack is probably 2 or 3 times more important than health. And even in the most useful scenario: for instance, comparing burrowers to vileblood to firestalker. Sure, you can (mostly) put firestalker out of contention because of its low efficiency, but vileblood and burrowers aren't easy to compare, and they are both used for the same purpose. Burrowers are better because they have swift and--costing less power-they can hit multiple areas at once. That said, vileblood has advantages in things like 2v2 because buffs work better on him. I'm not saying efficiency is meaningless, but there are so many factors that are much more important. I just worry that some inexperienced player might see these efficiency values and make deckbuilding decisions from them, which would be a very bad idea.
  22. Select a the row underneath the ones you want to fix. Go to view-->freeze panes-->freeze panes. This will freeze all the rows above the cell you selected. For instance, if you select the Shadow cell, you will freeze the first 2 rows. For your general effectiveness, did you do (damage*health)/(power cost*1000)? I'm not sure "general effectiveness" (even just in terms of stats) is that simple...
  23. Oh, that's nice. I think more labels might clear up the confusion (btw, you know you can fix the top row to stay there, right?)
  24. Oh, I see now. The numbers on the right. Sorry. What are the 3 colored columns?
  25. @Mental Omega @SilenceKiller99 Might I suggest a U3 spreadsheet in addition? U3 is generally more important than U0.
