  1. Be  sure, some of the long term beta players lost way more. Some of us had the complete collection and all U3.

But I can only heavily encourage you to give the new start a try. Starting with only some basic cards and without upgrades was, at least for me, again a big fun. Alot boosters can be accessed through achievements quite fast and in addition there is a temporarly booster discount of 100 bfb. If you already have a clue where you want to go deck-wise, a decent deck can be buildt in no time.

    Give it a try ?

If u post your replay I am curious to see how u did it :) Time was not bad either !

Thanks, yeah, when I provided my replay I was quite sure to be third :P Then you came :) But when I see the huge difference between the top3 runs and mine, I am glad to be fourth anyways.

I used more or less the same approaches that I have seen in the 4 above linked replays. I think the biggest difference to the 10min times is that I need more spells and units due to lacking micromanagement :D

Ah and I am the only one in the field of the first 5 ranks that used a green start. Volin_BeL_Contest_12min21sek.pmv

Last thing: The first Disciple in the south should be encountered earlier - I was braindead in the end and made "new" mistakes all the time :)

  3. In my experience, the 4 factions have never been equally distributed. Most maps on 9 were bandits, the fewest LS.

So you rolled a die with 4 "different sized" sides, just 30 times, and it fell 1-4 times less on the smallest side than in a normal distribution.

Even if I see 50 rounds of ONLY Bandits in a row, I wouldn't worry about the random distribution because the sample is too small.

I once sat in a poker tournament (Hold'em) where a friend started 3 times with 2 kings within 4 rounds. Think about what a statistical outlier this is.

  4. I personally don't like the fact that each quest can only be re-rolled once. This has led to a PVP quest in my log, which I can't get rid of - but also can't and don't want to complete.

I think it's ok that you can only re-roll one quest per day - that should probably be the case. But if you remove the limit that each quest can only be re-rolled once, this would probably lead to less "dead" quests in peoples logs

So during a certain week, if someone gets the quest "Play map X on difficulty Y", we can make everyone have the same map for that quest (as much as possible, because not everyone has all the maps unlocked). This map would then change every week or few days.

With a look on the playerbase perhaps the ideal solution - I like the idea on the first view!

When choosing a new map for a challenge I walk a fine line: Either take something conventional so experienced players have nothing new to explore but are comfortable or take a weird map which is less played and chase away some potential participants. This can be mixed up with more rules/restrictions which will come in the future.

And you did very well again! :)

I just thought it might be a good idea to mention my (failure) fears in public, just to show others with similar feelings that they are not alone.
I've been pretty high up in almost every BG10 ranking I've wanted to participate in over the last few months. What should some "casual" (not derogatory!) players think when they see the top times in your contests.  :D

I just wanted to encourage others that have the same first thoughts to participate.

  7. Jesus, and once again one of those maps I never understood before.

Your challenges, Toggy, have grounded me really well again. I realize more and more that I know even less than John Snow if I can't copy any known tactics :D

Actually, I should take the competition as an incentive, but unfortunately the first time I see it, it's already demotivating. But I will still give it a try if I find some time the next weeks.

Thanks for your efforts anyway @Toggy!

  8. Missing the dislike button, regarding the above post.

You knowed about the rules, you accepted them and then you broke the rules -willingly and knowingly

Imo it would be unfair to reset bans and I see NO reason for it.

I don't know your personal life, but maybe you have some issues, who knows what's going on. You do not show kindness. I think most of your stuff is living in his own reality, life sucks etc.

This alone is rude - and reason enough...
