    Greetings Skylords!
This Community Update is a few days ahead of schedule because we have two events that we don't want you to miss! From today until 2nd of November there is a special Halloween event, and on Saturday 29th October we have a PvP tournament with a participation prize! Let's get you up to date.

    • Halloween Event

The Lost Souls have altered the timeline for a special Halloween event! Instead of Encountering Twilight, Rogan Kayle finds himself in the face of new horrors. Enjoy a spooky experience on this adjusted map to celebrate Halloween, and the upcoming release of the new card "Evil Eye" with us!

You can find the full event details here. This is a temporary event which ends on 2nd of November. Check it out now to not miss out!

    • Evil Eye release and adjustments

Evil Eye will release next week in a small dedicated patch (which will not break replays).
Players participating in the Halloween event will have the chance to be rewarded with the new Twilight card the moment it comes out! After the event is over Evil Eye will also be eligible to drop from General and Twilight boosters as an uncommon card. So save your boosters till then!
Since its original reveal, we have made some adjustments to the card based on testing feedback.
The original design had a couple of issues, including a lack of splash damage, squishiness, mobility issues and increased susceptibility against crowd control. While the damage output of the card has a very high potential peak, in practice the card turned out to be hard to use and didn't add much to the Twilight faction besides a new transformation effect.
To make the card feel more rewarding to play, we gave it a new mechanic; a unit being attacked by Evil Eye explodes if it dies (thematically its insides are superheated and explode), dealing damage in a small area. Having on-enemy-death mechanics is already part of Twilight's identity (i.e. Twilight Warfare) and we found this could solve the splash issue in a more creative manner.
While this addition goes against the single-target attacker role we originally had in mind, it makes the card more fun to play and gives the player the option to either focus on a strong unit (i.e. a boss) by making use of its passive Rage ability, or micro it to benefit from Searing Sight's new on-death ability.
Lastly, we gave the card a much-needed health increase from 3300 to 3800. We are happy with how the card turned out, and hope you will enjoy playing it!

    CHANGED: Searing Sight
Casts a superheated beam that deals 200 damage to a target enemy every second. If a unit directly attacked by Evil Eye dies, its corpse explodes, spewing forth boiling liquids that deal 1000 damage in a 15m radius, up to 3000 in total.

    Transform
Evil Eye has the faction's ability "Transformation", allowing it to transform into other Twilight units. Because Evil Eye is already a strong tier 4 card, it has a special passive ability to make transforming it worthwhile.

    Conjuration
If the unit is transformed, it will restore spell card charges. The card of every Fire, Nature, and Twilight spell will be granted one more charge and will be immediately reusable. The maximum number of possible card charges for a specific card will not be exceeded.

    ADDED: Rage
Unit does increasingly more damage the longer it attacks, up to a maximum of 300% more damage, but falls back to its original damage output if it doesn't fight for 5 seconds or changes target.

    • New Card Reveal: Raven Walker

While Evil Eye releases in the coming days, there are more new cards in development. We are hard at work adding a new legendary card into the game: the infamous Raven Walker.
Raven Walker is a powerful tier 4 Legendary card, meaning only one can be summoned on the battlefield at a time (like i.e. Viridya or Ravenheart).  Besides being a strong ranged unit, Raven Walker has the ability to corrupt the very air around it, causing played out cards to backlash, dealing huge amounts of damage to both allies and enemies, including buildings! If Ravenheart or its summoned Raven Ships are nearby, Raven Walker will lose its slow passive ability and move like a general XL unit.
Please note: We are still testing the card. While we are generally happy with it, numbers and effects might still change before release.

    Slow
    Unit has Slow movement.

    Blackpowder Turret
Every 4 seconds, unit fires an explosive shot that deals 920 damage to enemies in a 10m radius around its target, up to 1380 in total. Knocks back small and medium units. Affects ground targets only.

    Corrupting Aura (100p)
Activate to cast a destructive aura of 30m radius at the target location. Every card played out within it will backlash, dealing 10 times their power cost times their orb count as area damage distributed among all hostile and friendly entities, up to 10000 in total. Lasts for 30 seconds. Reusable every 60 seconds.

    Fleet Support
If Raven Walker is within 25m radius of a Raven Ship or Ravenheart, it will lose Slow.

Some of you might be wondering why Raven Walker is a Legendary card, instead of a Bandit card. While exploring our options, we found two issues with a Bandit approach. First, we feel Bandits as a faction is currently quite complete in terms of T4 units, and this unit would not add anything interesting to the faction; it would not be much different from Construct-decks which already use double Shadow for Nether Warp.
Additionally, Raven Walker's Corrupting Aura ability works on buildings. This means it can be used even with healing spells to destroy enemies and important structures, allowing for a wide variety of decks to build around it. But because of how Corrupting Aura works, it can be stacked infinitely, which is problematic from a balance point of view. It does not come up often that we want something to be limited to a single instance, making this the perfect Legendary. It is also a good opportunity to expand the existing Legendary deck and slowly add Blight's entire raven squadron to the game.
Raven Walker is planned to release in an upcoming content patch. We are not ready to announce a release date yet.

    • Team changes

We are glad to announce two new members to the team behind Skylords Reborn. WaterMelonLord has joined us as a Global Moderator. Cool.

Mynoduesp has also joined the team as Quality Assurance (QA), helping with maintenance and player friendliness, for example by improving descriptions.

We also had a couple of replies to our translator roles, thank you! We could always use more translators, so if you are fluid in French, Russian or German, please consider doing some translations for us.

    • Contribute to the Project

We have opened up a new staff role: Social Media Manager. We heard multiple times that people are intimidated to join the team as a marketeer, so we split up the responsibilities and tasks, making the entry barrier a lot lower. As a Social Media Manager, you are responsible for keeping our Social Media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Reddit) up to date. Help with our Twitch and Instagram account would also be greatly appreciated.
As always, we hope you will also consider helping out the project. Please take a look at all our open positions on how you can do so.

There are also a variety of contributor roles like translator, that don't require you to join the staff, but still allow you to help out now and then. Please take a look.

    Greetings Skylords!

We are very excited to tell you about our newest patch. Welcome to this special Community Update!

    • Patch Release

We are currently hard at work finalizing the upcoming patch, which is planned for release later this weekend. We do not have a specific time yet, but we expect the patch to hit the live servers this Sunday. We have also created a special video for this patch, be sure to check it out!
In this community update, we will show some of the changes that will be included in this patch. For a full list of changes, please check out the patch notes, as there are many changes not mentioned here.
If you start the game after the patch has released, you will be greeted by a new loading screen. This is a combination of the wallpapers drawn by our former artist Nano, and additions and alterations by Tweeto. We hope you notice all the attention to detail and love they poured into it!

    • New Cards

We are excited that you will finally get your hands on the cards we have been working on for the past months. With this patch, three new cards will be added to the game:

    Wasteland Terror
Wasteland Terror is finally here! This awesome Bandit-take on the dragon model fires streams of sand that will lay waste to your enemies.
This card has been long in the making, check out the original announcement for an overview of its abilities.

    Transcendence
Transcendence is our first Amii spell, and provides a powerful buff or debuff as long as you keep its target alive, rewarding careful management of the fight. Check out the original announcement for more information.

    Burning Spears
Burning Spears joins the Fire faction to battle an age-old weakness of its pure deck: L and XL units in the early game.
Check out the original announcement, for more information and an artwork spotlight.

    • New Promo Card: Mana Wing

Alongside our new cards, we have also added a new promo card to the game. Every player will be able to get a promo Mana Wing by completing the new achievement "A Force of Nature". The promo will not be available in boosters, but it will be trade-able.

    • New Achievements

This patch will add 18 new achievements into the game. Those are aimed at improving the new player experience, while also giving our more veteran players something to work towards. • Map Changes

    Campaign Maps
We have made adjustments to a couple of campaign maps. These changes include standardizing gold chests (adding or removing them on maps that break the standard) and adding extra power wells or additional capacity of current wells to improve the early game of maps like Nightmare Shard and The Dwarven Riddle. For a full list of changes, please reference the patch notes.

    Rebalanced 2vs2 Maps
The rebalanced 2vs2 maps can now be played on the live server. Changes include removal (or adjustments) of walls, wells, slight changes to the layout, and making certain areas immovable for flying units. This should result in a better play experience and more balanced maps. These maps also have observer versions, and we have updated the minimaps to be accurate.

    • PvP changes

We have implemented multiple changes that should make playing PvP easier and more rewarding. If you need any help to get started, remember that you have access to free and fully upgraded PvP decks, and we have a great guide available, written by top players. The following changes have been made:
    New Player Protection
To protect new players from facing top players when they are just getting started in ranked play, it is no longer possible to get matched with players with a base ELO above 135.000, if your own base ELO is below 102.000.

    Made Player Names Anonymous
To prevent players from dodging bad match-ups, player names have been anonymized in the ranked lobby. This does not affect the sparring lobbies.

    Losses Are Now Hidden
It has been proven in other competitive games that showing losses on the ranked ladder results in demotivation and higher entry barriers. We have therefore removed losses from the ladder. The information is still accessible on your profile if you so desire.

Updates To The Free PvP Decks
We have made some changes to the cards contained in the free PvP decks to compete with the new meta. If we made updates to the free PvP decks you have currently selected, you will now have the option to either swap to the new cards, or keep your current set up. Changes have been made to Pure Nature (Parasite over Shrine of Memory), Twilight (Twilight Minions over Ghost Spears), Pure Shadow (Executor over Nightguard) and Pure Fire (Burning Spears over Scorched Earth).

    Improved Rewards
We have removed the gold penalty that was currently active for playing sparring games. Quests that require you to play 2vs2 games, now also count 3vs3 games for completion.

We have also allowed you to drain the reserve while looking for a match. If you queue for at least 5 minutes, even if you don't find an opponent, you will earn BFP as if you were ingame, meaning you get BFP not just for playing, but also while searching for matches.

    Happy Hours
Happy Hours are specific time periods where players will receive additional gold and BFP for playing PvP. During Happy Hours, there will be an in-game announcement and the icon on the world map will indicate Happy Hours are active.

Happy Hours will take place during the following times:
    - 1vs1 happy hours: 7pm-9pm CET
    - 2vs2 happy hours: 9pm-10pm CET
    - 1vs1 happy hours: 4am-5am CET
By clustering players together during certain time frames, players will have an easier time finding matches more frequently.

    • rPvE Fire Balance Changes

We have rolled out some balance adjustments to the fire faction for rPvE. The Fire faction in rPvE can be extremely strong, but due to its high attack and low defense, it is extra vulnerable to Crowd Control spells. We tried to counter this weakness with a brand-new building that removes Crowd Control effects from nearby units.
Some major enemy damage dealers have been rebalanced, which should result in an improved experience for all skill levels. For more information on exactly what was changed, please reference the patch notes.
We have also expanded the wiki to contain information regarding the various bosses you might encounter.

    • Balance Changes

This patch also contains rebalancing of over 40 cards, with a large focus on Nature cards. These changes follow the mindset written out in our Nature Deep Dive. While already a great step forward, our work on (Pure) Nature is not yet finished, with some of the more complicated changes (f.e. Abyssal Warder and Grove Spirit) still being worked on. Regardless, these changes should have a positive impact on the faction.
Players will enjoy seeing a Forest Elder on the battlefield, since the card now has a mobile Breeding Grounds effect, reducing the cost of friendly units spawned by its side. Promise of Life has gone down a tier, now requiring only 3 Nature orbs, while Shrine of Memory has gone up a tier, now costing 2 Nature + 1 Neutral orb but increasing its effect greatly.
These are just a couple of examples from the many changes that will be included. You will be able to check out all the details in the patch notes soon.

    • Tournaments / Events

    • NEW - Official PvE Contest #6: The Soultree Faction Battle - Until 19.06.2022
In this event, you can show off how much you like your favorite faction. Beat the single player map 'The Soultree' on advanced difficulty using only mixed-colored units and buildings! The event will start after the new patch is live. More information.

    • NEW - Skylords Battleship Kahoot Quiz - June 12th 2022 16:00 CEST
Dallarian and Volin are hosting a Skylords Reborn knowledge quiz! The quiz will be streamed on Twitch and use Kahoot, which is easy to access by phone or PC. There are a ton of prizes up for grabs, so the majority of players should win something. More information.

    • NEW - The Skylords Open #15 - June 19th 2022 - 14:00 CEST
The new balance changes and addition of Burning Spears should shake up the PvP meta, so what better time to host another Skylords Open? This 1vs1 tournament is open for all players, and will be streamed live on Twitch. If possible, please sign-up in advance. More Information.

    • FINISHED - CCC #5 - Prophecy, Prophecy, PROPHECYYY!
Kapo hosted another successful Crappy Community Contest© on an altered Oracle map. Players had access to 16 orbs and 10.000 power to beat the map as fast as possible. As with all CCC, the more players attend, the better the prizes are, resulting in a free booster for the whole community. View the event and the code.

    • FINISHED - Skylords Bounty: Spring Forge
A Skylords Bounty is an open-source task for the community to create something needed in one of the departments of Skylords Reborn. For this Bounty, we asked the community to help us create a spring-themed Forge. We got multiple submissions, and will now work together with the most promising candidate. Every serious attempt will also be rewarded with a Nature booster. If you participated, you will hear from us in the coming week.

    • Host your own tournament / event
Want to host a tournament or event? Please reach out to our Event Organizers Hiko and/or Metagross to have your event prizes sponsored by us. If you have a cool idea for a PvE event, or want to host a PvP tournament, please don't hesitate to reach out to us, we will gladly assist you.

    • Team Changes

Hirooo has joined our team as Faction Designer / Balance Developer. He has already been helping us a lot with testing and balancing PvP, so we are happy to welcome him to our team!

Sadly, MarcoMaar (UI Developer) and RookieN (Map Designer) will leave the team due to long inactivity. We do want to thank them for their contribution to the project!

    • Contribute To Skylords Reborn

We are currently looking for more people to help us create new content. Many upcoming features are on hold or take a long time due to a lack of volunteers, so we encourage you to take a look at our open positions.
For example, we are looking for a Map Artist to help us with Defense rPvE, and a Map Designer to work on creating new Campaign Maps. And we could always use more developers to improve the game in general.
If you want to help with creating new cards, we encourage you to consider our Artist and Balance Developer roles. We can always use more people in those departments to speed up progress. Adding voice lines to our new cards is currently on hold due to us missing an Audio Editor.
We would also like to improve our marketing; you can help out as a Marketeer, but also a Video Editor, creating short card reveal videos and exciting trailers would be greatly appreciated.

If you don't want to join the staff, you can still help with proofreading, testing our maps or creating a community event.

    • In Conclusion

We really hope you will enjoy our latest patch "Force of Nature"!

To celebrate the release, and to help you out with your Nature decks, we have a special scratch code for you.
This code will reward you with two Nature boosters! SOIL-ROOT-TREE-LEAF
Feel free to share this code, but please do so by pointing players towards the Community Update instead of sharing the code itself.
The code is valid until July 1st, when we will bring you our next Community Update.
Going forward, we will bring you these Community Updates monthly, on the first day of every month.

What changes are you most excited for? What decks will you build around the new cards? We would love to hear in the comments!

    Greetings Skylords!

Welcome to the first Community Update of 2022! We hope you had a blast playing Skylords Reborn in 2021 and hope you will continue to do so in this brand new year. Even though we just released a major content patch, there is already a lot of interesting things to talk about, so let's get started!

    • Yearly Recap 2021
On the 17th of December we had our Anniversary Stream, celebrating the 1-year anniversary of Skylords Reborn. Sadly, something went wrong with the playback of the stream that we were not able to fix. Instead of doing a rerecording, we decided to record a recap of 2021 instead.
In this yearly recap video we go over everything that was added to the game in 2021. Use it as an easy catch-up or as an introduction video for your returning friends!

A lot was added in the patch on the 18th, so we can understand you might have missed something in the overload of changes and new content. To make things a bit more easier for both current and new players, we have also collected information into a handy overview.
We grouped all the documents (deep dives, behind the scenes, PvP guide, etc.) we have released last year, and collected every community update thus far on a single page with highlights. Especially Community Update 16 went into all the changes added in the last major content patch. We hope this will make it easier for you to keep track of progress.

    • New Voicelines Implemented
With some help from our friends in the C&C community, we were able to fix the issues we had with the sound converter needed to implement new voicelines into the game. We are happy to announce we added English* voicelines to Banzai Lord and Amii Paladins!
Banzai Lord is voiced by Dreamlord. We tried to create a character that is both sinister towards his enemies, and caring towards his birds. Because both Tortugun and Wasteland Terror (soon™) are non-humanoid, we hope he will give some flavor to the lategame of Bandits.
Amii Paladins is voiced by Rothriel. The Amii can go into multiple directions; they are full of energy as part of their elemental nature, a joyous unrestraint and/or an excess of emotion. At the same time they are a race still shrouded in mystery. We went with a serious and calm vibe for these Amii soldiers, and we plan to lean into the more energetic approach for Amii Phantom.
In the near future we plan to also add voicelines to Bandit Sniper, Dryad, Mountain Rowdy and Amii Phantom.
Additionally, there are already plans for other cards that are currently without voicelines, like Bandit Lancer or Warlock.
*Adding voicelines is a ton of work, both for the voice actors and those implementing. Because of this, we currently are only able to provide voicelines in English. We have added these English voicelines into each version of the game, no matter what language you play it in. We would like your opinion on this. If you play the game on German, French or Russian would you prefer your cards to be without sound, or with English voicelines? Fill in the poll here.
If you want to help with the implementation of voicelines and have experience with video and audio, please check out our open position for Video Editor below.

    • Creating New Lore and Campaign Maps
We are excited to announce that we are planning on expanding the Skylords Reborn lore! This will include future story expansions as we work on adding new campaign maps and new in-game characters, as well as new Legends pages (for the Lore book).
The initial goal is to add 5 new Legends pages for each faction, including the hybrid factions. Yet we cannot do this alone, so as part of this endeavor, we would like to invite anyone interested in the lore and in writing to join us in a new official Lore Taskforce server! Any member of the community will be able to submit proposals for new Legends which, if approved, will be included in the game. So if you have ever had a great story idea for your favorite unit, now is the time to put pen to paper and give it a try! Join the Lore Discord here.
We will share more about our plans and progress for campaign maps at a later date.

    • Advanced Filtering Survey
In our last patch we added advanced filtering options, both for the inventory and the AH. We are curious if you are aware of it and/or use it.
To gather data and figure out how many of you are aware of the new options, we have created a very small survey. We hope you will take the time to fill it in.
You can find the survey here, it should only take a few minutes of your time.

    • Pure Nature Rework
After Pure Frost and Bandits, the balance team has now set its eyes on Pure Nature as the next faction to receive major changes. On the balance discord you can already see some of the proposals for multiple cards, ranging from Nerfs to Deep One and Energy Parasite, to buffs to Ghost Spears and the Root Network. Cards like Grove Spirit, Forest Elder, Mind Control, Abyssal Warder, Colossus and Grimvine are also being looked at.
The Root Network is an interesting yet complex Nature mechanic that is often misunderstood (and poorly explained by the game). Some of the ideas currently being discussed are changing Thornbark to count as multiple entities for the Root Network and reduced power costs for cards like Spikeroot and Treespirit. After the changes are a bit more fleshed out, we plan to provide you with another Deep Dive document, going into what makes Nature tick, its strength and weaknesses, and how we plan to tackle them.
Alongside changes to Nature, we are also going to test out a couple of nerfs and buffs on the test server in the near future. Some of the cards that are currently being looked at are Nightguard, Executor, Phalanx, Ice Guardian, Warlock, Stoneshards and Twilight Minions.
You can find all our current idea's and join the discussion on our Balance Discord.

    • Update to Skylords Marketplace Journal
Maze has been hard at work and released a new version of the website Skylords Marketplace Journal. On this website you can easily track prizes of cards. The redesigned site is now at a stage of development where he felt it is viable enough to replace the old version, which broke with the anniversary patch. The old version is and will probably stay available, but it won't receive any more updates. It can still be found here.
There are a bunch of exciting features in the new website, including a larger variety of filters, more price details for each card, general card info and other interesting QoL features. You can even find the average value of the reforged card when destroying 4 of the same card and on what map you can find the upgrade for the card.
Read up all about the changes, or go directly to the new website here.

Maze is not the only one who provides market statistics through his website however. Some of you might be aware of the Auction House Archives, created by DraginMaster. The goal of this site is to track each card's journey through the in-game auction house and beyond. Since it tracks each individual auction, it can deduce when a card has sold in the auction house and for how much. More information can be found here.

    • Update to the Stats Website
The Skylords Reborn Stats website also received an overhaul. Here you can find interesting and up-to-date stats from Skylords Reborn, like current number of players online and running matches, but also fun stats like unopened boosters. It now also contains Auctions and Leaderboards!

    • Tournaments
    • NEW: Official 2p rPvE Contest#2: The Bandit alliance UNTIL 31.01.2022
For this challenge, we want to see your adaptability in unique situations.
We are looking at the fastest time with only one rule: each player may only spawn one single unit with ground presence through the whole run!

    • FINISHED: Official PvE Contest#4: Winter is coming
The fourth official PvE contest has ended, and the winners were revealed in a stream you can rewatch on our Twitch channel.

    • FINISHED: CCC #1 Hunt Down The Stragglers
Kapo took the initiative to host the first in a series of ''Crappy Community Contests'' This and future CCCs are meant to be super-small-scale contests with weird challenges, hopefully luring you away from well-trodden paths. They are small scale on the organizers side too: there is no stream, video or event announcing the winners. Because of this, the entry barrier was low, and this resulted in 130 players participating!

    • Host your own event / tournament
Want to host a tournament or event? Please reach out to our Event Organizers Hiko and/or Metagross to have your event prizes sponsored by us. If you have a cool idea for a PvE event, or want to host a PvP tournament, please don't hesitate to reach out to us, we will gladly assist you.

    • We need your help!
We are in dire need of a Marketeer / Outreach Coordinator!
As you are probably aware, Skylords Reborn does currently not have anyone who helps actively promoting the game. We would love to promote and increase the player base for Skylords Reborn. To do so, we have two open positions. If you have the time and the required skills to help, please consider having a chat with us. We would love to get help in these area's!

    Open Position - Video Editor
As a video editor you are responsible for creating exciting video content for Skylords Reborn. This can range from short card reveal videos to exciting trailers and cutting up Twitch-stream content for highlight videos on our Youtube channel. If you have any experience with audio post production, you can also help us out with the process of adding new voice-lines and sound effects into the game. Click here to read more and apply.

Open Position - Marketeer / Outreach Coordinator
As a Marketeer / Outreach Coordinator you are responsible to spread the word and create awareness about Skylords Reborn and to attract veteran and new players alike. This includes actively researching and reaching out to potentially interested streamers, youtubers, Discord channels, game magazines, among others. You will be responsible for the communication to and from interested parties and for any promotion deals (for example involving scratch codes). Please note that Skylords Reborn cannot do any paid promotions. Click here to read more and apply.

    • Team changes / Open Position
The position for  Community Manager has opened up, which might come as a bit of as surprise. Over the past 10 months I have been in charge of bringing all of you these community updates and enjoy doing so. However, I have taken on more and more tasks lately, resulting in a shift to a new role; Project Coordinator. In this role I will put a bigger focus on streamlining our workflow and planning of patches. Because of this, we are now looking for someone who can help with some of my previous responsibilities. If you are interested, please check out the description below.
    Open Position - Community Manager
As a community manager you are responsible with aiding the communication to and from the community. You will work closely with the Project Coordinator (previously Community Manager) to communicate staff and project decisions to the community through, for example, The Community Updates and self-written announcements. Furthermore, you will act as a contact person for the community to share project feedback and suggestions and are expected to keep the staff informed and be up-to-date with the state of the community. Click here to read more and apply.

    • In Conclusion
And that's it for this Community Update, thanks for reading!
As is tradition, this community update comes with a scratch code.
The code will reward you with a mini-booster: COMM-UNIT-YNEW-S17B
The code is valid till January 29th, when we will bring you another Community Update.
Please keep in mind that the 100BFP discount on all boosters is still valid until January 18th.
As always, we are open to feedback so please let us know if you have any questions, suggestions or comments!

  5. Tanktiger liked a post in a topic by MrXLink in We're Releasing Q4!
Greetings once again, Skylords, Skyladies and other Skyfolk!
First off, thank you all so much for showing up to the major announcement stream hosted today! We couldn't be more grateful for all your support over the years. For those of you who haven't been able to see it, here's a brief recap and a very important announcement:
You can re-watch the stream to catch up over here! We have released a huge update to live servers! This includes the following: 12-player maps are now a thing! We finally got them to work. 2vs2 Ranked is now also a thing! Lots of QoL changes to the Auction House, like refresh rates, setting up multiple auctions at once, and 48h auctions. The ability to play cards from the marketplace in the forge without actually owning them New faction boosters that will help increase your odds for cards of a faction that you like! All 2-color and pure factions now have their own separate boosters costing respectively 475 and 500 BFP. New BFP system that replaces the 30m free booster quest. This system will allow you to earn BFP over time rather than hitting a wall after 30m of play, and will allow those with jobs or less time on their hands to catch up on others in order to give them a chance at auctioning and partaking in the economy. For more details on the BFP system and how it works, check out its most recent thread here. BFP and quests that are missed can be stored up to 3 days (6 quests max, 550 BFP stored max, 100 per day.) Numerous fixes and improvements Please check out this thread for all the details and full patch notes!  We're going to get a brand new updater in the near future, which gives easy access to things such as server selection, the map editor, social links, and much more! Check it out on-stream! PvP players rejoice! We're planning to introduce several pre-built decks to PvP that will be level 120, fully upgraded and charged to get the full PvP experience of being on the same level as your opponents. In the meantime, you can use your rewards earned through PvP to collect and build other decks or refine your current one. These decks cannot be used in PvE. And last, but certainly not least, we are proud to announce the following: We have finally progressed far enough to announce a release time!
Skylords Reborn 1.0 will be released in Q4 2020! Along with one and only reset.
That's October, November or December, depending on how well we progress and how many bugs and difficulties we still encounter. We are confident we can actually get this done in time, after many years of holding back on release dates.
Recently, our developers @fiki574, @Aviat0r, but most notably @Ladadoos and @Zyna, have done massive work towards the project, as you can see, and thanks to them we have come very far throughout the past few months despite losing a great help to the project, Kubik. We've made a lot of progress too on design decisions thanks to @MephistoRoss and @Ultrakool and of course we wouldn't be anywhere without your support, be it through helping us by reporting bugs, by supporting us on Patreon, or just for sticking along this long!
Please enjoy the fresh new patch that we released on live servers today, and keep up the positivity! We're ever closer to that sweet gold status and to that final reset, and we're insanely grateful to have come this far. We'll keep you updated on all of our developments through the forums, discord, and also our new Trello! Here you can follow the latest developments, future plans, and our roadmap to 1.0!
    https://trello.com/b/vvpUdT3b/skylords-reborn-roadmap-to-release-2020-q4
That covers it all for now! For some more information you can refer to the Q&A that we did on-stream!
Stay frosty, stay healthy, stay undead, and stay burning, guardians of Nyn! See you in the forge!
  6. Tanktiger liked a post in a topic by Emmaerzeh in UPDATE: BFP Reserves and Boosters
    @MrXLink
Bfp per min is awesome but  IMHO you should also add gold per min  playtime for communitymaps and pvp or I still have to farm gold in maps that I not wanna play anymore.
Pls not force me to farm Gol, Soultree or rpve over and over again.  :-)
Your bfp gain is only half of the real deal to the way to make all game modes worth playing. Bring to an end what you started.
Check it's a communitymap or pvp  then activate extra gold over time gain. Use same system like bfp. Just have to choose the gold gain rate.
Communitymaps have unlimited potential and content and you not have work creating them.

    Kind regards
  7. Tanktiger liked a post in a topic by Kubik in Is a hard reset really needed?
4000 people is not enough for you? And what about people that say they are waiting for the reset?
Have you looked at AH prices recently? New players can not buy much there because cards are priced for players with 10 000 BFP or more.
Do you really mean more cards, or all cards, and fully upgraded, so they can use all the BFP they get to manipulate market in any way they want?
I will not list technical reasons, because no one want to hear those.
  8. Tanktiger liked a post in a topic by MrXLink in Skylords Reborn - All you need to know!
    Greetings Skylords, Skyladies and Skyfolks,

After five years of development Skylords Reborn has finally hit full release, we want to thank every single one of you for joining and supporting us on our journey. This topic will provide you with all the information, details, and answers you need.
How can I play this game?
You can find instructions for downloading and installing the game here.

How do I log in to the game?
First, you need to create an account on this forum, here. Afterwards you can simply login with the same account in the game. A game account will automatically be created and linked to your forum account. Do not make multiple accounts for yourself. You are allowed to play with your family/friends in the same house.

    What is Skylords Reborn?
Skylords Reborn is a project which started off as a 2-man team working on allowing the community to play BattleForge again. BattleForge was a Real-Time Strategy Collectible Card PC game (not a MOBA) made by EA Phenomic in 2009 that got closed down on October 31 2013, disappointing many players. The ever-growing Skylords Reborn team has been working hard to make BattleForge playable and accessible for its still large community and new players once more! You can read more about our project on our wiki.

Can I upload content of Skylords Reborn?
Yes. You are allowed to make Youtube and Twitch videos and streams of Skylords Reborn.

Will I be able to use my old account?
No. As we are not EA we do not have access to your old accounts and never will, so you will have to create a new one and start from scratch. We know this is annoying but there is no way for us to retrieve account information. At least you can play the game again!

What is the difference between Skylords Reborn and old BattleForge?
Everything from the original game works but there has been a number of changes. (see list below)
    Cards
Balance changes and new cards Economy
Free to Play (no payments for game progression) Daily time based BFP rewards Daily PvP and PvE quests (Resets daily at 10:00 UTC) Seasonal & Lifetime Achievements Faction Boosters Removal of Tokens. Gold is now used instead and is untradable. Removal of Elements of Conversion/Creation. PvP
Free PvP deck rotations Official Tournaments (BFP rewards) Spectator versions for all 1vs1 maps PvE
All campaign maps available again (including 12 player maps) New high-quality community maps And many other quality of life improvements.
Can I buy/sell BFP for real money?
Absolutely not! People who are noted to sell or attempt to buy BFP or any in-game content with real money may be banned from playing the game at all, or have their accounts reset. We take no responsibility whatsoever in any lost money or in-game content. We don't sell BFP for a very good reason as this project is allowed to exist due to the fact that we are making zero profit or income from the game, which would be using someone else's ideas and content for claiming money. If you buy or sell in-game content, you are essentially doing the same thing and this could put both you as well as the entire project at risk of being shut down.

How can I earn Gold and Upgrades?
Since tokens have been removed from the game entirely, you will earn gold instead through playing Randomly Generated PvE, Sparring PvP, and disenchanting upgrades found in Campaign PvE maps. The upgrade drops have been changed, and you can find the new loot list in this topic.

    How can I obtain promos?
You can get promos as an extremely rare reward in boosters, or during special events that we will host.

I found a bug! What now? How do I report a bug?
Please refer to the "Report A Bug" forum, and particularly this topic.

I have seen someone cheat, flame, or severely break the rules. Where do I report this?
You can right-click on a player to report them in-game. You can also report this behaviour directly to the Moderation Team (Global Moderators) on the forums or discord. Please refer to the Ticket Tool thread here when reporting on discord.

Is the game only available in English?
The game can be played in all languages that were previously available. This includes English, German, French and Russian. However, we are mostly focusing our project and any announcements around the English language.

Have you asked EA for help with the project? Do you work for EA?
No, we do not work for EA and we sincerely doubt EA is interested in the funding of the project nor rebooting the game. We do not expect any help from EA. We have, however, been given permission to alter the existing client and make this project a reality until further notice is provided. Former BF staff are likely under NDA as well, disallowing them to help us in the first place.

If this project is completely non-profit, how will you keep the servers up?
We have created a patreon page here. Any donated money will be spent on server upkeep, development and a lot will be saved up for future server upkeep. No money whatsoever will go into our own pockets. You can make a one time payment and then unsubscribe from us or you can pick to pay every month. Please note all Patrons will not gain any benefits in game.

    Where is the server located?
The server is located in Germany.

Will you distribute the server files for private hosting?
No. The project is closed source, which means that the files (code) are not public.

    I have another question!
Alright, that's cool! Before you continue, however, please use the forum's search function to find any threads that may have your question in it. If your question really isn't answered yet, feel free to create a thread.
That's all! We hope you enjoy your time in the world of Nyn and help the game and its community grow together! As always, We're hugely grateful for all your support, and we wouldn't be here without you all. Keep up the good spirits, you're all fantastic beings. See you in the forge, and may the forge be with you!
  9. Tanktiger liked a post in a topic by InsaneHawk in Introducing... Ladadoos and Zyna! Our new Client Developers
    Hello Skylords
It has been some crazy weeks for us on the development side, and we're making huge progress everyday, thanks to all our testers! There's sooo much going on right now that we can't tell you about in the current state the things are, but the next official stream we're planning is nearby!
Also I'm taking a moment to let you know, we have 2 new arrivals in the team! As Client Developers which are @Ladadoos and @Zyna Congratz to both of them!
They've been really helpful since the past months, that we decided to add them officially in the team, they'll work on everything related to the client. Thanks to them, you'll notice when you'll play the game, QoL (Quality of life) improvements, new features etc..
Also, some of you may remember "Tokens" that used to be here to buy upgrades in the past, as we said a few times, this system was a pure mess for us, and really not relevant, and there has been discussions about it being removed. So here's a quick preview (WIP) of the modifications we've made alongside Ladadoos and John, and now golds are being used for that matter.

Thanks everyone, and see you soon in the forge! ♥
  10. Tanktiger liked a post in a topic by MrXLink in Important Progress Update and Clarification
    Greetings Skylords, Skyladies and Skyfolks!
Throughout the past few weeks we have noticed increasingly negative comments and remarks with regards to Skylords Reborn, its progress and its development time. Accusations of us scamming supporters are made on a daily basis, and while that is simply false in every aspect, we do understand that a lot of you have major concerns and are worried about the project, whether it's still a thing, whether we have run off with Patreon funds, and where we are right now after 3 years of development. Don't worry, though! We live, and as you will soon find out, we are doing well and are going nowhere!
The thing is, and beta testers know this, that we are actually making a lot of progress to the point where we are busy stress testing the servers with the Closed Beta testing group, improving server stability and creeping closer to Open Beta with every single test. And by the Old Gods, it took a while to get here. A lot of you have an idea of how long a game development cycle can take, and so it is only understandable that 3 years seems like an awful lot just to bring a game back. However, it's a lot more complicated than that due to this being a passion/voluntary project that we don't get paid for, and finding/fixing bugs being way more complex due to us not having made the client code at all. This makes it an unpredictable process in which we can't set deadlines or promise fixed release times. For a more detailed explanation, refer to the quote below from the Open Beta Information thread:
Rest assured, we are happy to inform you that we don't want to make money from this project (even if we wanted to, it would be illegal), and that your support is not in vain. Supporting the project is also completely voluntary, and we do not give any game rewards to patrons at all. Thanks to every single one of you who has been having faith in this project and supporting us by being a thriving and friendly community, we have managed to come a long way in 3 years, in which we faced managerial issues, legal complications, several server rewrites, and a lot of swapping regarding staff and partnerships. Our team right now is very solid and progressive, though, and we're getting closer and closer to that glorious Open Beta. We are reaching important testing milestones, which is fantastic. For example, @Kubik has evaluated our latest Closed Beta Stress Test, which was held yesterday. He has collected the following results:
For more details on the stress test results, there will be an update on our Developer Platform soon!
"What does all this mean?" you may wonder. In essence, it means that we are ironing out some of the last bugs in the current server code (as far as we can see), are getting further in making 12-player maps work properly, and the server is currently able to handle quite some players at the same time. In other words, progress, progress, progress! Keeping this in mind, we would like to give you the following information:
    Something BIG is coming.
Though we will not be reaching a full open beta state just yet, something large and important will be coming to the Skylords Reborn community in the near future. To present this and to provide you with details on this big development milestone, we will be announcing a new, important official stream very soon, so stay tuned!

Hopefully this update will clarify things and ease away some of the major concerns you may all be having regarding the project. Be sure to check the forums, discord or other social media for the stream announcements, and for weekly updates about all the progress we are actively making, check our Developer Platform!
Thank you all again for your undying support and dedication to the project and the game, and we hope to bring all over 21 THOUSAND of you Skylords, Skyladies and Skythings (*GASP*) more great progress and updates in the near future!

    Hi all,
I would like to thank you for all the  and encouragement you have given us, it has been a pleasure seeing the popularity of this open beta. Unfortunately, like Link mentioned, unforeseen bugs prevent us from keeping to the release date, and for that I am personally really sorry and seek your forgiveness. We all, and Fiki especially, have been working countless hours everyday to try to keep to this promise, but unfortunately in development, the Murphy’s Law often applies and in this case it sadly did. I hope you can find it in your hearts to support us through this, and we will come out of this stronger than  ever together as a community.

I just want to add, thank you for all the recent support, this really means a lot to us, and even if we're not answering every message (which is kinda impossible now) that doesn't mean we're not reading them! We're reading every message you guys are sending us, so as we already, sorry for that, but we're all humans, and we're and will continue to do the best we can for this project, don't lose faith, the end is close ♥

  15. Tanktiger liked a post in a topic by MrXLink in Important: Open Beta Status Announcement
    Dearest Skylords, Skyladies, Skyfolks,
I'm sure most of you have an idea what this announcement is going to be about, given the latest status on Open Beta. As you all have realised, we haven't quite made our promised release goal of week 8. This mainly has to do with PvE breaking way more badly than we expected and fixing taking a lot more time than anticipated. How much time will this take? Well, please allow me a bit more space to explain.
The Skylords community has grown bigger and better than ever before, for almost 3 years now. We are growing closer to the public beta release of the game, and we're growing more hyped and enthusiastic with every development update Fiki posts. This is a fantastic thing; the BattleForge community has always been my favourite community around, where everyone is relatively friendly and inviting, has fun together and creates a warm, comforting atmosphere. However, as with most hyped projects, enthusiasm can rapidly take over and make both community and developer overexcited. This is generally a great thing, except when it concerns voluntary development as is the case with Skylords Reborn. Don't get me wrong, it's great that you are all so excited about the game; it's really mostly on our side that causes issues.
The programming team is just as excited about this as you are, and they are working tirelessly to make Open Beta a reality as soon as possible. However, with great hype and little experiences with such projects and group communities, comes great positivity. As you may know from the past, we have always been quite generous with our milestone and deadline estimations, striving every single day to make you all as happy and enthusiastic as possible, pushing our limits to satisfy you, the community, as well as we can. In our combined enthusiasm and desire to bring back a great game to you all, we have been blind to the risks of game development, and made completion date estimates very positively; but game development doesn't work like that. Something will always break, and several things have broken and put us back, changed things up, turned our schedule around. Real life has interfered, servers have been crashed, and the programming team has generally just been looking at the development cycle way too positively and have given themselves way too little time to work with in case things wouldn't go as planned. This has created a lot of frustration on the team and we have been rushing while we shouldn't rush.
Especially in this week of hype, the entire team has experienced the results of massive hype. Tonnes of repeated questions, lots of enthusiasm, but also lots of doubt, lots of impatience, and foremost, intense amounts of pressure on all of our shoulders. The drive and need to meet our target time got so emphasised, and the expectations were unfathomably high. And sadly I have to say that it is taking its toll on some of our team members, even outside of the programming department; we're being hit very hard, but we remain steadfast, for all of you!. We are doing our utmost best to keep you all informed, engaged, and excited about the project, and the last thing we want to do is to disappoint you; and every single time that we may have to, every single time that things go wrong and Open Beta ETA's have proven to be just a little too generous, we disappoint you. And I am certain that I can speak for the entire team if I say that it sometimes genuinely does feel like we fail you all with these hopes we work up for you and end up being forced to shatter. Please be aware that this was never our intention, and unforeseen consequences have resulted in many delays. This has driven the team to a very important and hard decision.
We are not going to give you any exact Open Beta completion times anymore. We will be more broad in our approach, and development timeframes will be larger.
I regret to announce that this is something that really must happen; but I truly care about you all as a community and it breaks my heart every single time we awaken hopes in you that turn out to be false, disappoint and fail you with declaring that we haven't met our terms... needless to say it hurts all of us, the SR team. We're done making unrealistic promises to you guys, and we are sick, tired, and exhausted of disappointing this amazing community over and over. You don't deserve that, and so we will broaden our estimations widely.
This means that any development estimated times will be longer, but also more uncertain.
This does by no means imply that we are slowing down development. On the contrary! We are working and progressing harder than ever, as many Closed Beta testers can actively tell you. We understand you may be doubting us at this point, we understand you feel like the project isn't progressing enough, and we truly do understand you all want to play; but just short of a hundred testers can tell you that we are making massive progress every day. This project is happening right now as we speak, and those who doubted we would ever get the game online have been proven wrong, and we strive to keep proving doubters wrong as we progress daily. With this new way of announcing progression, it would mean less stress on the team, hopefully no heavy disappointment to the community, and the more exciting and enjoyable the moment is if we finish way ahead of schedule (which is now also way more likely). Hopefully this will give you all a better impression and allow for more realistic expectations.
Game development can take a lot of time, and especially for SR, it is extremely unpredictable. Things can suddenly go wrong, or we can suddenly make huge surges of progress. The most important thing remains that we don't want to rush things. When we release Open Beta we want stable servers, and the best experience for every single one of you. Coding under pressure will only create more bugs, flaws, crashes, and mental problems for our programmers, so we are giving them the time they need. We hope that you can understand this.
That being said, with some of the issues persisting, we will have to give Fiki and his majestic team of programmers some additional time to iron out the remaining bugs, memory leaks, and other annoyances before we allow you all in. Trust us when we say that we don't want you to get hyped, enter the servers, and have an uncomfortable experience or have the servers crash. That would be awful, and we don't want to kill off your enjoyment like that.

    ------TL;DR? Start here-------
The programming department has stated that they will need some more time to fix these issues. Although we consider this to be able to be completed sooner rather than later, we need to take risks and possible further delays into account. If we do end up knowing when we're releasing Open Beta with absolute certainty, you bet we'll have you know when!  -- Remember, we could be done way sooner or later than expected! Check the devplatform for the most up-to-date status of the game and/or release predictions: http://dev.skylords.eu/

Another very important note: There has been some false information that has been spread through the community on several different platforms, causing a lot of unnecessary havoc and stress for both community and staff. We would like to remind you that you can find all relevant and correct news and announcements on our official social media, but most importantly forum posts that keep you up to date. Please do not blindly trust any dates or information given to you by community members that you don't know, especially if it sounds groundbreaking or impactful; if you can't find it on the forums, it's probably not true. Remember, content written by any member with a coloured name are staff posts; official announcements made by them are to be considered as true. Confused as to who is part of the team? Follow this link for a list: https://forum.skylords.eu/index.php?/staff/

But there's some positive news too!
    > The launcher is coming along nicely, and has been worked on separately from the server. That means that once server work is done, we won't also have to start making the launcher from scratch, which will save a lot of time!
    > Many of you have expressed that they missed the original Booster Simulator. Now, the simulator is back in action and better than ever, integrated in our new cardbase, accurately supporting the booster ratios that will be in-game. Find it here: https://allcards.skylords.eu/booster.html
    > Additionally, we have noticed a huge amount of questions for when Open Beta starts. Trust me when I say there will be a giant thread when Open Beta is released that will explain everything to you! Please be patient with your Open Beta questions until it starts; it will all be revealed.
    > Feeling like you may have been too enthusiastic about Closed Beta giveaways? We will assure you that if you have been blacklisted on our Discord server and prevented from entering Closed Beta, your bans will be revoked and you will be given a second chance for Open Beta. Please don't break anything
    > We have upgraded the forums to handle more traffic. You should all have a way smoother experience than before; our server was running at 220% CPU capacity, ouch! We're now running more smoothly, so you should experience faster loading times and a better overall connection to this website.
    > During this upgrade, however, we almost lost the forum database because of all the problems linked to our server. We managed to save it just in time!
    > The next big announcement we will make will be the Open Beta Announcement, which we will stream on our Twitch channel (https://www.twitch.tv/skylordsreborn). In the meantime, it is possible that we will stream some BattleForge on the official channel to give you an idea of how everything runs while we work on getting a good Open Beta working for you.
We would like to once again apologise for yet another delay and future vagueness on estimated times, and we would like to reassure you that it's healthier for the game's development, safety, stability, and enjoyability, as well as it is better for the health of the team, as we can take things easier on the moderation team, and allow the programmers to prioritise quality over time. We will do our utmost best to bring Open Beta to you as soon as we can, without the pains and frustrations and disappointment of further delays. We hope that you can understand and respect this decision, have the courage and determination to be patient for just a little longer, and that we may stand strong as a community, and that we may remain the most welcoming, friendly and comfortable community out there. Together we will soon reclaim the Forge and protect the lands of Nyn once again!
Sincerely, and on behalf of the entire Skylords Reborn Team,
    MrXLink, your Community Manager

"Wasn't there a date in here?" Yes, that is correct, and we removed it for good reason. Refer to this post for details.

    Greetings Skylords, Skyladies, and Skyfolks!
XLink here coming with another game design update. Now, it has come to our attention that a lot of you have been wondering what your booster odds are in Skylords Reborn. That is to say, what are your chances of getting different rarities of cards? I will provide you with answers to this debate, as an official ratio has been set up. We've had many questions as to what the exact rates are, and so I'll clear things up a bit, and explain why the ratio has changed.
The original BattleForge used a system where rare cards and ultra-rare cards are difficult to obtain. Boosters would give you 5 commons, 2 uncommons, and a rare or ultra-rare card at 16% (1/6) odds. This seems like a reasonable ratio. However, when I looked into the amount of cards in the game over the rarity given, it's noted that about 40% of all cards are Rare or Ultra Rare. This is a significant portion of all cards, that have a very low chance of being obtained.
Since we will not be exploiting a microtransaction system to siphon your money out through booster rarities, as well as with the spirit of being able to obtain cards quicker, easier and in a more satisfying and enjoyable manner, it's been decided that we increase the chance of getting rare cards in boosters, to let that 40% flow to the players more efficiently than by 16% of a booster at a time. It'll be easier to get that shiny loot! This has been the case since closed beta, and has been tested within closed beta, which has been quite a success. Many of you have asked what the exact ratio was, and we decided to keep it under the radar a bit for testing and changing purposes, but now that we have established a solid ratio, I'm publishing your odds right here. (this has been published before, but not definitively, in a beta thread) This does not mean that these are definitive. They are close to definitive, but in case of design flaws or the odds not turning out as we would have liked them to turn out, these ratios are subject to change; especially the promo ratio.
With these ratio changes I'm officially introducing our way of distributing promo cards; every booster will have a very small chance of granting a promo card. This way, everyone will have access to these elusive, extremely rare cards. We will also possibly use them as rewards for tournaments and official events. Seasonal promos, like Santa Claus and Easter Egg, will not be available in regular boosters.

With that all being said, here are the general odds for the card boosters in Skylords Reborn! The cards go from top left to bottom right.
Card 1: 0.5% Promo, 19.5% Ultra Rare, 80% Rare Card 2: 15% Rare, 85% Uncommon Card 3: 20% Uncommon, 80% Common Card 4: 100% Uncommon Cards 5, 6, 7 and 8: 100% Common This means that every single booster will provide you with up to 1 ultra-rare at a time, up to 2 rares at a time, and up to 3 uncommons at a time. If you get an Ultra Rare or a promo, there is still a chance you will get a rare. Getting 2 rares and 2 uncommons will therefore not be a strange sight, as it would have been in the original game. Remember that the promo ratio especially may be subject to change if we deem it too high or too low of a chance.
We hope that these new ratios will provide a quicker, more enjoyable and way more satisfying way of collecting cards, to kickstart the game more efficiently and make grinding and collecting a little more bearable, whilst sticking to the game's original mechanics.

In the nearby future, we will discuss the possibility of different types of boosters (e.g. editions, elements) and potential odds and card pools for them, internally. Stay tuned for more information on that in said nearby future. Booster prices will be discussed in the even more distant future, when the programming team is ready for it.
I hope to have informed you sufficiently on the new booster ratios. Be wary that this booster ratio has been calculated quite thoroughly and is pretty much definitive. Even small changes could throw the booster rarity ratios off balance; we have found these values to hit the sweet spot.
Feel free to let me know what you think and to discuss the topic below, taking the aforementioned statement in mind.
Stay tuned for future design updates, and may the forge be with you!
