I find the critters a little anoyying, with their range hit points, and the intreraction with the main units ability, I think changing hp or range will be reaching into card balancing, but can we add a simple summon new stonekin critter button to its abilities, maybe max of 2 as is or maybe 3, dont want the ability to spam them but i find i lose them frequently during fights and this nerfs the unit itself badly. WindHunter Posted October 1, 2023 Share Posted October 1, 2023 The issue we face with Deepfang is that we cannot make the critters respawn without allowing the player to spawn infinite amounts of them. This would make Deepfang into a Stonekin Satanael, which we are not interesting in doing. But if we cannot allow the critters respawn, then there will always arise a moment where Deepfang is permanently weaker because of the lose of the critters. Cocofang Posted October 1, 2023 Share Posted October 1, 2023 Balancing both around a cooldown of the respawn-ability and an automated death-timer for the critters would be a workaround. Similar to how Sunken Temple caps out at a certain number of swarms. It'd just be annoying to micro because the new critters obviously wouldn't be part of a dedicated unit-group. So while technically an improvement, it would certainly be a hit to the gameplay experience. The other option would be to make the respawn-ability manual but that would shift the annoyance from having to pay attention to the new critters to instead having to click the button every now and then. But that could be more easily balanced, I think. If you were to give the critters a much bigger impact when they are alive, they could function as a temporary buff for engagements. Yes, it's an unique mechanic for Deepfang, but seems it's more trouble than it's worth. Sometimes being unique is not an advantage, at all. Or, if we want to keep them, perhaps maybe they could spawn conditionally as Deepfang fights. Ie. units killed by DF will spawn a critter.
