  1. I can't give any estimation yet as of prices and such, but I'll be sure to make an announcement thread when we have such an indication.
  2. It's called a soft cap. Say, the first half an hour you get 20BFP, the next half hour you get 19BFP, so you'd get 39 in an hour. Then going to 18BFP the next 30m, 17 half an hour after that, so after 2 hours you'll have 74BFP etc. etc. It means you'll get more BFP the more you play, but the reward per timeslot decreases slowly. This makes sure that infrequent players will not have too much of a drawback from being unable to play a lot, and rewards players for coming back the day after. This way you can play the game the way you want without having to depend on a certain strategy to get enough out of your playtime. This is described in my post.
  3. Hey RidenE, Obtaining BFP and cards won't be solely reliant on completing daily quests. The current proposal is that up to 9 quests can stack up so you could complete them all on said weekend or Sunday. Additionally, you will be rewarded for playtime as well, gaining high rewards for playing the game, slowly getting less over time. You can review the reward proposal in detail over here:
  4. If I and/or others are willing to help host and set it up, I would definitely do something along the lines of that.
  5. Yes, this is definitely true. It'll not just be about mass grinding, but also about daily rewards. The exact ratio of that or booster prices are still TBA
  6. If anything I would personally prefer to balance Lord Cyrian out a bit more rather than to exclude him from the promo drops. However, Lord Cyrian is a special case as the only way of obtaining him would be through the promo system, therefore he either needs to drop regularly (which makes little sense), be given out by default, or remain some kind of a niche card in general that is not utterly essential or strong for use in PvP. Lord Cyrian is the only non-seasonal card that solely exists as a promo. Since it's got its own model and looks impressive on its own, I'd rather balance it so that it becomes at least a bit more useful than it currently would. If this is not a possibility, I may decide to turn it into a seasonal promo instead. That's what I had in mind at least. Santa Claus and Easter Egg won't be in boosters. The rest will be, as we want promo cards to become more accessible to everyone without requiring to win a tournament. We may still give out promo cards for such purposes though, and they would be obtained faster. The 0.5% is pretty experimental, but up to now has resulted in a decent ratio among testers. We aim to accelerate the process of obtaining rare items, more so than conventional games. Some items in games such as Unusuals in TF2 (1%), Legendaries in vanilla Overwatch (5%), or Ancient Legendaries in Diablo 3 (~2%) drop at higher rates, often with more frequent ways of obtaining them. 0.5% seems reasonable so far, especially considering the community size as of right now. But hey, if promos drop way too much, we may alter this for enjoyability's sake. Actually, UR cards and promo cards already were at relatively low chances in the original BattleForge by means of generating income. We increase the drop rates to compensate for this, give players a quicker start-up and a more enjoyable and safer grinding curve. As I said in my post, all boosters used to contain 1 UR or R, 2 UC, and 5 C. Getting an UR had a 16% (1/6) ratio. You sort of contradict yourself here. You want a 1/6 chance, which I assume you mean UR rates, which is a lower drop rate than I proposed, and pretty much exactly the same as the old "p2w" ratio. As for 0.4, which I infer as the promo ratio, see the above response to wojt5's comment. I posted them over here. While I appreciate you consider I know what I'm doing, feel free to be a judge to that
  7. That would mean more programming and stuff added to the game. It's an idea, but we might just stick to doing that on the forums instead if we do it and if it's impossible or too much work for our dev team.
  8. Greetings Skylords, Skyladies, and Skyfolks! XLink here coming with another game design update. Now, it has come to our attention that a lot of you have been wondering what your booster odds are in Skylords Reborn. That is to say, what are your chances of getting different rarities of cards? I will provide you with answers to this debate, as an official ratio has been set up. We've had many questions as to what the exact rates are, and so I'll clear things up a bit, and explain why the ratio has changed. The original BattleForge used a system where rare cards and ultra-rare cards are difficult to obtain. Boosters would give you 5 commons, 2 uncommons, and a rare or ultra-rare card at 16% (1/6) odds. This seems like a reasonable ratio. However, when I looked into the amount of cards in the game over the rarity given, it's noted that about 40% of all cards are Rare or Ultra Rare. This is a significant portion of all cards, that have a very low chance of being obtained. Since we will not be exploiting a microtransaction system to siphon your money out through booster rarities, as well as with the spirit of being able to obtain cards quicker, easier and in a more satisfying and enjoyable manner, it's been decided that we increase the chance of getting rare cards in boosters, to let that 40% flow to the players more efficiently than by 16% of a booster at a time. It'll be easier to get that shiny loot! This has been the case since closed beta, and has been tested within closed beta, which has been quite a success. Many of you have asked what the exact ratio was, and we decided to keep it under the radar a bit for testing and changing purposes, but now that we have established a solid ratio, I'm publishing your odds right here. (this has been published before, but not definitively, in a beta thread) This does not mean that these are definitive. They are close to definitive, but in case of design flaws or the odds not turning out as we would have liked them to turn out, these ratios are subject to change; especially the promo ratio. With these ratio changes I'm officially introducing our way of distributing promo cards; every booster will have a very small chance of granting a promo card. This way, everyone will have access to these elusive, extremely rare cards. We will also possibly use them as rewards for tournaments and official events. Seasonal promos, like Santa Claus and Easter Egg, will not be available in regular boosters. With that all being said, here are the general odds for the card boosters in Skylords Reborn! The cards go from top left to bottom right. Card 1: 0.5% Promo, 19.5% Ultra Rare, 80% Rare Card 2: 15% Rare, 85% Uncommon Card 3: 20% Uncommon, 80% Common Card 4: 100% Uncommon Cards 5, 6, 7 and 8: 100% Common This means that every single booster will provide you with up to 1 ultra-rare at a time, up to 2 rares at a time, and up to 3 uncommons at a time. If you get an Ultra Rare or a promo, there is still a chance you will get a rare. Getting 2 rares and 2 uncommons will therefore not be a strange sight, as it would have been in the original game. Remember that the promo ratio especially may be subject to change if we deem it too high or too low of a chance. We hope that these new ratios will provide a quicker, more enjoyable and way more satisfying way of collecting cards, to kickstart the game more efficiently and make grinding and collecting a little more bearable, whilst sticking to the game's original mechanics. In the nearby future, we will discuss the possibility of different types of boosters (e.g. editions, elements) and potential odds and card pools for them, internally. Stay tuned for more information on that in said nearby future. Booster prices will be discussed in the even more distant future, when the programming team is ready for it. I hope to have informed you sufficiently on the new booster ratios. Be wary that this booster ratio has been calculated quite thoroughly and is pretty much definitive. Even small changes could throw the booster rarity ratios off balance; we have found these values to hit the sweet spot. Feel free to let me know what you think and to discuss the topic below, taking the aforementioned statement in mind. Stay tuned for future design updates, and may the forge be with you!
  9. Please note that this is not a thread to spam your twitch channels. If you want to advertise your channel, make a collective thread or your own.
  10. We have in no way stated we will provide or guarantee any sort of reward for open beta testers post-beta.
  11. Drops and loot lists may be subject to change in the future. We will make sure to convey this whenever deemed appropriate.
  12. You're free to push the hype now that it's offtopic
  13. This is a countdown/spam thread and while you're free to count down to whatever related date, this topic belongs to off-topic and should not increment your post count. Also, please refrain from consecutively posting after yourself all the time.
  14. I'll just make sure this thread doesn't get revived anymore. I did warn you. /closed PS: Please don't make another thread about this. If I see one I'll have to take more permanent action.
  15. Not sure what you're inferring there. My reasoning is quite simple; this is a tense atmosphere and I am noticing what exactly is aggravating people, and therefore I have to keep things in order. I'm speaking for all of you when I ask to keep the discussion at a civilised and understanding level, as you do, and pointing out what is causing trouble and against the rules. There have been rep issues in the past for exactly the same reasons, and that's not how the system is meant to be operated. There's no premature judgement here, just trying to keep the thread at ease. Additionally, regardless of context, there's no need to call people jerks or pinpoint anyone. This is one of the many reasons why topics like this should be discussed in PM. If you want to show your sympathy and understanding by calling others out for being jerks, stupid, childish or whatever, don't do so publicly as it's causing uproars and it breaks forum regulations. You need to potentially insult people to make your point? Keep your discretion and steer clear from public defamation. I hope we are clear.
  16. Or maybe he is trying to help out by saying your position won't be any better by creating topics like this. I'm asking all of you to try and be a bit more understanding towards each other. Regardless of the situation, going on about downvoting and justifying it by saying they did the same or worse is not the way to go. If you have a problem with this, refrain from using up- and downvotes in the first place. Stop stirring up arguments, and for your own sake, stop being so aggressively defensive of your own opinion. Last warning until I will have to take measures.
  17. Can we not start turning this into a downvote argument? Also, this is exactly what I mean with accepting criticism. Someone thinks your thread is not the right step to take and doesn't like the way this is going. Your response to it is to downvote them back repeatedly, whereas you can just take the downvote as an indication that some people may not like the way you're approaching this problem and may be trying to tell you something. By downvoting back you're not only acting as what some, including yourself, would consider to be childish, but you're also not really improving your "position" on the forums either. I'm not a fan of a topic like this either. It radiates a request for attention. I get you want to come to a point of understanding with people and I sincerely hope that you are doing that through mutual adaptation rather than convincing others your opinion is right, but a topic like this really comes across as attention-grabbing and really generally does not make the situation any better, let alone if you start discussing about why other people's criticism is not in accordance with what you consider to be right to do. This is really a topic that should be discussed with people individually through PM, rather than blowing it up to a forum-wide thread. It may just be making things worse for yourself that way. If you continue writing in this topic, which you all have the right to, please refrain from turning this into a rep slaughterhouse, and keep things civil and flame/troll-free. Try to understand each other, rather than to enforce opinions regarding why you have to be right and they have to be wrong. That's not the point of discussing something like this. You come to a point of understanding together, not by forcing someone to keep up with your behaviour. Rep abuse, name-calling, insulting and other targeting behaviour is punishable as stated in the forum rules. Steer clear from making us take measures.
  18. Greetings, Skylords, Skyladies, Skyfolks! Following our 28-10-17 stream regarding our open beta announcement, we have uploaded our stream to YouTube! If you have missed out on our stream, and want to catch up on all discussed topics and FAQ questions, you can find it here: Open beta release date has been set to January 2018! Now postponed to 3-4 weeks from March 26th 2018 with no set date. Thank you all so much for attending and for the support you've shown and are still showing today. Thanks so much for making the project the success it currently is. Stay awesome, stay hyped!
  19. Paypal sadly proved to be no longer a valid option. This has to do with some recent changes and the limitations paypal has on their accounts, and terms we currently cannot meet. I fully get that a subscription on Patreon isn't the most efficient or great-feeling thing for many, but Patreon's regulations are way more flexible, to the extent that we decided to use it over paypal. In our stream next week we will further cover why patreon is a thing and why paypal currently isn't. As for patrons, we do want to encourage people to donate, but we still treat the community equally no matter what. No in-game advantages will be given, but we will have to get some rewards in to make the system more appealing so we can keep servers and development up for longer. Also know that though it's a monthly thing, you can just donate and then unsubscribe so the monthly payment is not a must at all.
  20. @Kaliber84 of course we will keep doing what we already do! We will keep listening and talking to everyone, that was never the intention to set aside. The meeting is meant to be like being together with several devs talking live about SR or whatever, but it does not make said patrons have any more value in their opinions or suggestions. I'm so sorry my reply made you believe otherwise. We are and will always be a development team that listens to its community and their feedback and suggestions, and I try my best to take everyone into account and to make design and development decisions that are best for the community as a whole. We will never change our mentality on this and I will personally represent the entire community as best as I can towards the development team, and our Patreon programme will not at all influence the validity, value or meaning we derive from community members. Every voice matters: members, testers and patrons alike, and we will make sure to treat all opinions equally. Don't worry, we've got you, SR community! ^.=.^
  21. @LagOps If we end up being able to support more than 5 $50 tiers, we can always look into that later. It's not something that's forever set in stone, but it's the limit we're sticking to for now. If we require more high-value donation slots then we may add those in the future. The $25 tier calls for meetings that are intended to be private. Streaming said meeting would take away most of the privilege of being in said meeting. Also note that suggestions in said meeting will not at all be guaranteed implementation or increase authority in development discussions. As for your alpha/beta tester inquiry: Alpha and Beta testers have been willingly able to help our development of the server, in exchange for being able to play the game. This is the main reward that people were interested in, after all you'd get to play the game way before it would be released. This was at the condition of testing said game, and helping around. In addition to this, you will retain your forum ranks as well as your Discord ranks, and will be listed and thanked in the game credits. We understand and greatly value your commitment to the game and its development, and if you are an active and helpful member with Alpha and/or Beta experience, of course we will take this into account in development if the situation calls for it, but there will be no special meetings, no priority in developer decisions, and no additional benefits as what is already mentioned. We also mentioned in the start of the alpha phase that additional benefits would be unlikely as we simply can't offer a whole lot more. Any advantage over regular players would be out of the question; as would providing this through Patreon, for example. Your alpha/beta ranks bear quite the weight; it shows that you've been here from the get-go, from before the open beta even launched, and have served and supported this project massively to make it a reality. Without you alpha and beta testers the game would be way further away from the state it is in now, and that idea itself is quite an impressive and valuable trait to carry along into Skylords Reborn. You will reflect this on Discord as well as the forums, and even within the game itself. I understand your concern about this, I truly do, but for now this is the best we can do.
  22. I've been setting up a request a while ago to make a new BFCC with new graphics and a lot more options, but I still need someone willing to code it. I can provide all the graphics necessary. Check out my thread and maybe we can bring the wonderful card creator back into our realm.
  23. Araxes took one look back at the burning remains of what once was the guarded passage to Akylos. The smoke and teal flames gave away his position from miles away. Hopefully it would not attract too many fire troops. Ruthless and direct violent onslaught wasn't really his style anyway, but the only way to get things done as soon as it concerns stubborn fire guard patrols. Frost defenses, however, that would have been a completely different situation. They had machines of war, frozen cannons and high-impact ice spikes ready to immobilise whatever gets close. Fire troops just had their rage, their tactical awareness, and their brute force. But brute force alone from a small-sized army would barely scratch his hide. As the glow faded away in the distance, his neck and back flares extinguished. Remaining hard to see, walking carefully northwards. He would have to get to the Lyrish Reaches eventually, he recalled. Not only were the Lyrish adept at tactical defense, but they also are known for writing events down, recording history and being capable of gathering powerful and useful information about the war. That, and something just seemed to... resonate with him to head to Lyr. Something so faint and distant, that he found it hardly possible to recall what dragged him there. Would there be bloodshed? Not unless necessary. Of course there would always be fools targeting him just for being from the spirit realms, but they would soon know their place. The dragon had not walked the world of Nyn for centuries. Nobody would remember him in person. Nobody to know, nobody to believe. Everybody lies. No soul to be trusted, but the Lyrish settlements would remain as close to honest as it gets, especially with the warmth and hospitality of the groves of Nature being far beyond the horizon.
  24. @Defqon looks good to me, simple and not too strong abilities, mainly a lot of knowledge. I can accept this @5MERTN1K Looks okay enough now. I'm going to class you as a tiny shadow worm being part of the nature faction. You seem very underpowered and I am intrigued by how you're going to make a story out of this. Hope it doesn't grow out of hand, we'll see how it goes. For now you're accepted.
  25. A loud, lowly echoing laughter resonated through the Broken Mountain passageway. As sharply and clearly as Araxes could hear, his senses barely required any effort to listen in; even a long-deaf kobold could have clearly identified the clumsy yet surprisingly loud snickers and war cries of a Wrecker from miles away. And that would not even be taking the cavern into account, amplifying the sound to an extent which seemed more than tenfold. "That's right, run home to yer wee ice cream parler, we'll stop by for tea one day, ya hear?" he roared in the distance, following by more laughter. Underneath his bulking voice, faint chuckles of several others could be heard. They were distinctly less obnoxious, but clearly and notably deriving from fire tribes. Enforcers? Thugs? Firesworn? Araxes could not quite place the accents of the living. All he was used to would be the reverberating, ghostly voices of the spirits of Akylos; the accents of the living had eroded away in his mind. Slightly quieter, but still obnoxiously loud, the Wrecker seemingly turned to his group of militia, clearly exerting dominance. "That'd be all of 'em gone. Dumb, posh bastards callin' 'emselves Lyrish Knights." "They had it coming for years." a snarling voice added. "And we just trusted them and let them be here, guarding some wretched passageway no soul has passed through for the last decade. And even now they go run home in fear, as if their beloved queenie were to save them from her grave. Ha!". Quiet mumbling in agreement followed. "Now that they're all gone, all these ice cream towers could prove useful. I've always wanted a new barn." "If we can't use 'em as is, we may as well WRECK EM!" the Wrecker joyously replied. "FOR THE TRIBE!" he screeched. "FOR THE TRIBE!" the crowd responded in unison. As expected, this was the opportune moment to strike. More than opportune, as it seemed like the fire tribes had no clue as of how to operate the frost kingdom's tower defenses, and although being in a minority, the frost troops having vacated the passageway. Nobody would expect a 20m tall flame-engulfed dragon to emerge from the gates to Akylos at this time. Clearly, wrecking ancient defenses for their own good was more important than to guard a passage nobody bothered to cross for over a decade, regardless of pressing times of elemental conflict. Araxes quickly glared at Bardor, who was stood in the exact same position as he was in the moment he told him to be still. Good. At least he knew to never take a dragon's word for granted. Not even that of one used to spiralling his victims' minds into paranoia. He learned that the hard way, as a faint, burnt scar on Bardor's ghostly body would remind him of several endured blazing tail whips. Few troops. Fire tribes, not heavily armed. Selfish, foolish, blinded by greed. Easy prey, Captain. Finish them quickly. Araxes' haunting voice echoed in Bardor's head. He slowly nodded, readied his gleaming dark blunderbuss with lost mana wing shrapnel and cautiously approached the dragon, following him slowly towards the faint gleam of daylight at the end of the mountain tunnel... or was it starlight? It was hard to make out, coming from a realm of eternal night, devoid of any moons illuminating the dark plains of Akylos. Approaching the gateway, the dragon's flames lit up brightly and Bardor held on to his weapon steadily, not shivering or trembling for even a fraction of a second, aside from when Araxes' claws made the earth shake under the weight of his slow, crushing steps, despite being a lost soul. Upon gazing into the world of the living, there were three clear but small groups of several fire tribe members, heading in different directions towards the ancient, inactive frost defenses. Though otherwise engaged, the Wrecker did not take long to realise that danger was afoot. "Ey! Guys! Get yer butts over here!" he shouted, as Araxes rapidly jumped out of the darkness, pouncing onto several sunstriders, crushing them whole beneath his claws, bathing them into a soothing, crimson pool, rapidly turning darker and hardening due to the heat of his wings. He roared furiously as he glared deeply into the tiny, rallying-staff-wielding demolisher's eyes. The Wrecker swiftly and aggressively responded "Those were good lads, ya blockhead! You got me angry... and you don't want me to be angry... FIRE!", followed by several remaining sunstriders and firesworn soldiers unloading their weapons onto the massive dragon. Most shots simply rebounded onto his sturdy scales, and the few that hit barely left a scratch and a few dents. "Are you done with your little fighting game?" the dragon's voice rumbled over the suddenly silent group of fire guardsmen. "Perhaps you'd have made things more difficult with those towers of yours, but your pathetic little conflict and homeland seem to matter more to you than anything else." "If ya kill me, yer gonna regret it with yer life. If you even have any anymore" the Wrecker stumbled. "I am not going to end your life." Araxes responded softly. Within a mere second, a loud blast launched the Wrecker forwards. Deep cuts and burns all over his back, if you ignored the hole in his chest. "That would be me..." Bardor grinned from behind the Wrecker's corpse, and jumped up right in time to avoid Araxes' tail flooring most of the crowd gathered around them. Paralysed, and burning with searing pain, even despite being fire troops, they found it impossible to get up properly or take aim. Shivering in fright, they looked up to the massive, brightly burning dragon as he opened his maw widely and a stream of scorching fire erupted from it, engulfing them in flames. Their screams echoed against the Broken Mountain as their flesh burnt to a crisp, their final breaths sending their souls straight to the dark realms past it. Bardor in the meantime swiftly managed to hunt down remaining runaway troops, the sharp Mana Wing pins cutting through their skin at high velocity, crippling them and damaging them enough to make them bleed out within a matter of minutes. He was lucky enough to be able to reach the fleeing soldiers due to his slow reloading time, but most ended up being a victim to dragonfire, should they have gotten the chance to run. When at last the final striker buried his own face into the rocky grounds, all that was left was desolation; a vast area of ruin, destruction, but mostly teal flames and crimson blood. Bardor slowly lowered his blunderbuss and sighed softly. Araxes' wings darkened and his flames calmed down, the soulfire rapidly growing less bright and fiery. "Well... that was somethin'..." The captain mumbled. "They barely stood a chance." The dragon nodded, and proceeded to lick the blood of his razor-sharp claws. "Your strikes were brutal. None left alive. None left to flee." Bardor mumbled, taking a knee and getting himself in a more comfortable resting position. "Should give you some time before they find out." "As were yours." the dragon growled quietly. Bardor smiled. "Did the grumpy ol' dragon of fear just compliment me...?" he intimidatingly and teasingly replied. "Don't make me regret it." Araxes sharply snarled, hiding his own excuse for a smile carefully. "Well... You best be off soon, before they find you, ya monster..." the captain chuckled. "Besides, I have no business in Nyn. It was good harvesting some fresh souls for Akylos. Should do it more often. Maybe I'll even rebuild me Osprey, 'specially for you. We could hunt down some crew at some point." Araxes slowly nodded in agreement. "On your way then, captain." he said monotonously. As Bardor stood up and walked towards the passageway, the captain snickered, looking back at the massacre he was partly responsible for. "Good luck out there, Araxes, and see you soon. And I don't mean at the Gate. Let's avoid that bloody thing altogether." "Fear will consume all." the dragon growled. "Thank you for the company. May Ashia be the last place for me to ever find you." As Bardor disappeared, Araxes used his wings to extinguish the blazing array of flames he left behind with a strong wind gust, and with a terrifying roar, he proceeded in the direction the Lyrish Knight had fled to before... the Frost Kingdom, leaving the crisping sound of extinguished fire and the gentle dripping of the blood down his claws and neck to accompany the peaceful chirping of birds and the rustling of trees at the fall of dusk on the way.
