  1. Only been getting this since the patch.
  2. While not a bug persay, this really shouldn't be a daily that's active until PVP is available. Especially as we can't reroll it yet. Sorry about the incorrect formatting, but there is nothing more to this than that. But it is an unintentional 'feature' right now, so I'd call it a bug.
  3. I did have massive ping to the server though. It took about 2 seconds per action before anything happened. But even then... I got to play.

  5. I got to play the ENTIRE tutorial mission yesterday before the login issues. It was all of 5 minutes before I was thinking "Oh shut up, Moon" just like old times. We're back baby! YEAH
  6. Apparently this happens because the login server is down? At least that's what I read elsewhere. About the only thing anyone has said is: Try again later.
  7. I'm going to need a recording of the stream. 6:30am is too early for me to be awake o.o;;
  8. It's almost like some people expect the devs to be Community Managers, and I have to break it to them: They aren't. They're devs. If they want a moderator to wipe things clean for them, they can do that, but once things get to that point, devs have a tendency to stop listening to any other opinions, and often become insular. The gaming community as a whole has become quite vitriolic over the years, but that's just a side-effect of gaming becoming mainstream, and particularly competitive gaming allowing such angry behavior to fester. Overall, I think that while things around here could definitely be handled better, there is only so much you can expect when the same people who are developing the game are also trying to deal with a community. At least they talk to us. They could be insular and our only information could come from Fiki's weekly update. People definitely need to chill out though. Things have been getting a tad ridiculous. Edit: Oh right, and as for the "LEARN 2 SPEAK ENGLISH!" crap: People can stop that. That's just bloody rude. Be happy they can talk to us at all without requiring google translate (which can have hilarious results, but still.) As for professionalism: What exactly is professional about a bunch of volunteers (particularly students) trying to revive a game for free? I've actually been surprised at how they've been trying to keep everything handled. It all could have been a lot worse.
  9. I'm just glad you guys probably won't be ready by August 31st. Holy crap. Path of Exile: Delve Divinity: Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition Dead Frontier 2 (which I'm probably going to have to play first)
  10. This is the most logical suggestion thusfar in my opinion. Would it take more work to figure such a thing out? Sure. However, I believe it would be well worth the effort. Particularly as the original loot system was all over the place. And if we can keep anyone in 12p maps from completely getting the shaft (getting pretty much nothing), that'd be great too. Upgrades to common cards being available early would definitely help newer players (so basically all of us at first) get a solid leg up on the game. Edit: But failing the ability to have the quoted option, I voted for 3. Might as well keep it on theme.
  11. I'd temper the hype. Make it last longer. This could be a while
  12. Ooooh, so that's how you're doing the project. Yeah, with Ragnarok Online, the emulation code was all written from scratch, which then made full use of the original files as written (as far as I remember things working). The best part was, people weren't rewriting the original code or messing with it at all (at least as far as I remember). Instead they were screwing with the software that interacted with those files. For mob stats, the emulator used it's own files based on everything people knew about the original games. Then people made programs that let private server owners alter the emulation files with more ease (which is how I ended up making custom content, though others went the distance with completely new sprites and everything). In the end, I just find all of the different approaches quite interesting. Shame we can't just interact with the original files in the old way. Honestly, RO's private server stuff and the legal shenanigans that happened over it are worth looking in to, even if only for sheer curiosities sake. Anyway, best of luck Fiki and team. Looking forward to playing someday soon
  13. I still wonder about something though. Ragnarok Online's private servers were made possible, despite legal issues, because all of the code that interacts with the otherwise free files was custom made and thus the property of those designing the emulation system. Isn't that basically what you guys are doing? Battleforge was a free to play, so it's files were easily accessible. When the guys who made the emulation software for Ragnarok Online were taken to court over it, the emulation guys won because the only code they were using was their own, which then talked to free files made by the original devs (Gravity). This is why when you emulate games (such as with Ragnarok Online), you have to download the original games files first. This is what we're doing, right? If so, you never really had to ask permission anyway. There is precedence from Gravity vs... whoever the emulation people were, for emulated games to survive (so long as they make no money off it, hence why they live off donations). It really does baffle me that so many emulation groups get scared when threatened with legal issues, when there is precedence saying it's fine so long as the emulation software is entirely your own code :\ Unless there's something I'm missing. (Either way, it was thanks to all of this that private servers for RO could happily make their own content without giving a rats ass about Gravity, whenever we get to that point.)
  14. January 2053 No one said we had to be serious =P
  15. Sounds like some people need to grow a spine, a thicker skin, and grow up. Not everyone is empathetic, not everyone gives a shit. Honestly, people need to stop being such entitled retards.
  16. Hey, at least there is a silver lining here. You learned a valuable lesson on when to set the hype train in motion. Never be afraid to, just be sure you're actually almost ready to go. Then hit the hype train a month in advance and use that month for polish. I don't mean to make the timing sound easy. I know it isn't, but you'll get the hang of it. Best to keep this in mind for if and when you expand the game I mean, don't be afraid to say an expansion is on the way, but temper the hype with a solid mention that it'll take months to complete. Then you re-kindle the hype when it's basically done, give people a month to prepare, and hit them with the expansion. Just don't forget to research other game releases. You don't want to be overshadowed by a super popular game dropping or getting a major update. Hope this helps.
  17. While it is true that you don't owe anything to anyone, you did build hype. Hype is a powerful tool to keep people interested in something, so long as you can follow through. Hype comes with a lot of backlash potential though. Most of us definitely appreciate what you guys are doing, though I do wish you hadn't built hype with the open beta carrot. At least... not until you knew you were ready for it. Best of luck getting those servers up to snuff though
  18. I really hope you guys don't hit next month. Path of Exile's new league hits next month, and Dead Frontier 2 releases in to Open Beta. I'm sure other things hit as well, but those are the big ones for me =P
  19. Which is why they're not giving a date now, except saying it'll hopefully be within the next month. A quick reminder to everyone, but mostly those who are angry over this: This isn't some huge professional team we're talking about here. These guys are volunteers, essentially making an emulator to bring back a game many of us loved. They may have the green light from EA, but they aren't getting any help to do this. Patreon, no patreon, these guys owe us nothing. This whole project was nothing more than a hope for revival. Be grateful they're trying, and stop being such overly entitled pricks.
  20. I know I said I'd rather play with a bunch of bugs still in than wait, but not game breaking server bugs. If we're talking about the sorts of bugs that completely erase progression at a whim, or ones that happily drop people like they're hot for no good reason, or similar scale bugs, then good decision to hold off. Minor bugs, and even some major bugs we can all handle. Game destroying bugs? Hoo boy, that would've kicked a hornets nest. Good call, keep up the good work, and please don't feel too stressed about this. We're all looking forward to seeing your efforts =)
  21. Technically we have until the end of the 26th =P
  22. Yeah, seriously, that was downright embarrassing >.>;;
  23. Ah, there it is. Good show old bean =D I have no excuse for missing that.
  24. Probably should have mentioned Closed Beta in that bit of the post. I just read it before (man, I've been lurking for a while. It's about time I signed up,) and honestly thought it pertained to Open Beta. Especially as this is a thread about open beta =P
