    Greetings Skylords!

    It's been two weeks already since our last community update so it's time to bring you up to speed with everything going on in Skylords Reborn!

    Test Server Patch
    A new patch has hit the test server, including another batch of balance changes and adjustments. This patch contains many balancing changes and experimental changes for both PvE and PvP, with Frost specifically getting some love this time. We have also sent the first reworked versions of the 2vs2 maps to the test server!
    Please take a look at the patch notes, test them out on the test server and take part in the discussion.
    A detailed list of changes with images will become available in the wiki in the upcoming days.
    There have now been a couple of patches to the test server, resulting in a big difference between the current state of the game on the live server and the card adjustments on the test server. Which brings us to:

    Upcoming Patch
    We are now preparing the next patch for the live servers. It has been a while since our last patch, so expect this to be a big one with tons of balance changes for both PvP and PvE. Because of this, we have quite a bit of work ahead of us and we expect this patch to release in the beginning of August. We hope you are looking forward to a new meta with new strategies to play with. 
    We will share more information about the specific changes in our next community update on the 31st of July. 

    New Cards development update
    To manage expectations: we will not release new cards in this upcoming patch. As mentioned in a previous community update, we are currently creating new cards for Bandits (Fire/Shadow), Amii (Nature/Shadow) and Pure Frost.
    New card development is going well, but we are treading new territory here and want to take our time to make sure our first new cards are the best they could be. This still could take quite a while, but please rest assured we are working hard to give you some cool new cards to play with!
    Meanwhile we are continuing rolling out balance patches to give underplayed cards some love, and offer you new strategies and options for all the factions in the game. New cards can be tools to help fill these specific roles, but we are also looking at adjusting existing cards to reach the desired result. 
    We are also taking a deep dive into each faction separately, spending a lot of time figuring out what makes the faction tick, its strengths and weaknesses and where it could need some help to allow for a more diverse play style. 
     

    Deep Dive: Pure Frost
    Frost has been our primary focus for the past several months and our team is excited to finally get to share our work with the community. Attached you will find a document exploring the Frost faction in detail, including upcoming changes and a tease of our first new card!
    While Frost has been the first faction on our list, in the future other factions will also be receiving major changes. As our focus shifts from one faction to another we will continue to provide insights into our thinking through future documents like this one.
    We hope this look into Frost has helped you to understand both the faction better and our reasoning behind the upcoming changes.

    Upcoming Tournaments
    • NEW: Official PvE Contest#2 Slave Master
    Our second official PvE contest is running! Play Slave Master on Advanced but with a twist! Go back to the roots and put in your best time using only cards from the first edition (Twilight Edition). The contest is running until the 28th of July and you can win multiple prizes. Check out the full rules here. 

    • NEW: Skylords Open #10
    Next week (25th of July) the 10th edition of the Skylords Open will take place! Battle it out in a 1vs1 community tournament hosted by Toggy, open for everyone, and with prizes! If you want to participate, it helps a lot if you sign-up in advance.
    Last tournament had some great matches on all skill levels, so whether you are a new player or looking to break the win streak of RadicalX; join us for a day of PvP-fun!
     
    New Team Members / Team Changes
    Another new member has joined the Skylords Reborn team. We are happy to welcome ddrazard as a Discord Moderator.

    Iteration 16 of our test server is here. This patch mainly includes lots of new changes to cards, and an overhaul to the 2vs2 maps!

    How can I join the test server?
    To join the test server you simply need to launch LauncherTest.exe located in your BattleForge installation folder. It is important you run the updater first, so you download the latest test server files. In the future we plan to make it easier to join the test server.

Comet Catcher & Lifestream Removed initial cooldown. Core Dredge Increased damage from 2240/2295/2400/2665 to 2880/2930/3050/3325. Increased the blue affinity's bonus damage against frozen units by 25% on each upgrade Reduced the fire affinity's siege damage by 35% on each upgrade (damage against buildings unchanged).     Danduil Fixed an issue where you could not spawn units on one side of the outer edge power wells. Remove the walls surrounding the monuments at the side. Added two power wells each at the orb positions in the top left, top right, bottom left, and bottom right. Gorgasch The wall near the starting monuments will now start as unbuilt. All players start with 25 energy more. Adjusted the position of the walls, monuments, and powerwells in top and bottom bases. The wall now cannot be built by enemies anymore if you have a amii structure in the base. Removed all walls in the center bases of the maps. Increased power costs of all walls to 50 energy. Moved the power wells near the outer left and outer right bases closer to the center. Removed two power wells in the center well cluster. Adjusted the player starting positions so they are symmetrical. Fyre Increased the cost of all walls to 50 energy The side walls at the top left, top right, bottom left, and bottom right cannot be taken by the enemy anymore if you own the power well closest to the wall. The power wells in the top left of the upper starting base now provide spawn presence for units and buildings. Nadai Adjusted the positions of monuments and walls, so the walls near the monuments cannot be used by enemies to attack the monuments anymore. Added two power wells with 1200 power near the middle. Turan Opened up center orb by creating a connecting path to all 4 diagonal well clusters. Yshia Opened up and expanded various ramps Adjusted the positions of the starting walls, monuments, and power wells, so offensive walling is more difficult. Increased the cost of some walls from 25 to 50. Koshan Change the starting position for each player. It is now swapped with the position where the inner orb was. Added a ramp behind this inner orb, to make the power wells more accessible. Opened up plateaus with ramps to each side in the corners, and moved the walls away from the walls. Bug Fixes
    Altar of Chaos Bomb no longer requires an orb to spawn. Aura of Corruption Fixed upgrade description. Bloodhorn Fixed description and upgrade text for stampede. Bloodthirst (red and green) Fixed U0 to U2 and fixed internal name of the green affinity. Comet Catcher Change "their target" to "its target" in description. Core Dredge (blue) Fixed description variables. Dryad (green) Fixed description text for English and German. Grim Bahir (green) Now shows 3 stars on U3 next to the ability. Portal Nexus Portal exist no longer requires an orb to spawn. Offering Fixed an issue where the card sometimes refunded two charges instead of one. Queek Queek Improved description and fixed a bug where he couldn't attack some buildings. Text Not Found Error Fixed for Soul Splicer, Elemental Crystals, and Sunken Temple Tremor Fixed description text for English and German. Worldbreaker Gun Change "their target" to "its target" in description. Corrected an error in German text. A big thank you to our developers for their work in implementing these changes!

    Thanks to everyone providing feedback for these Events. Rest assured we are definitly taking this into account, and Hiko is really looking into what works and doesnt. This is only our second official PvE event, so its still a bit trial and error. We hope you are still able to have fun in this one!

    Hello Skylords, Skyladies and other Skybeings.
    We are back with yet another official PvE event since release.
    We hope you will have a lot of fun with this event!
     

    What kind of event will it be?
    PvE - Slave Master - Advanced Solo or with a teammate

    Slave Master on Advanced Difficulty with a twist! Follow all restrictions and requirements to finish this map as fast as possible.
    For example, one of the restrictions is you are only allowed to use cards from the First Edition. See below for more information and all restrictions.
    There are 5 different submission types, which differentiate between Fire, Nature, Frost, Shadow and Mixed.
    Each has their own prize pool.
    That's not all! There are other awards like the Quirky Defence, which is a Community Award that we will be voting for live on stream at the end of the event.

    When will it start?
    We will accept entries starting from 12.07.2021 00:00 CEST.

    The event will run for approximately 2 and 1/2 weeks, so you have time until the end of July. To be specific: 28.07.2021 23:59 CEST.
    You can send your replays through DM to me on Discord (Minashigo Hiko#1126) or through a PM to me on the forum.

    How can I participate?

    You just have to send in your fastest replay, including the player names and the submission type. [Note: your entry has to be a victory/in the ranking]
    For example: "Hiko,Majora - Pure fire Deck"

    Please note: You are allowed to send in three different replays, but not more than one per submission type (this will be counted per player, not per team).

    Nice, but where is the difficulty?

    This event will not have a point system, but there will be some requirements/restrictions you have to fulfill to successfully participate in the event.

    Restrictions:
    You may only use First Edition (Twilight Edition) cards. If you participate with a friend, one can only defend the twilight waves, while the other one can only attack (see below for more information). The defender is only allowed to defend and attack the left side of the map. The attacker is only allowed to attack the right side of the map. Players are allowed to cross the line to the other side, but are restricted from attacking or using offensive spells there. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Requirements:
    Destroy at least one of the patrolling Battleships on your own. No member of the Treasure fleet can die. Collect all 6 gold chests. You can find the location of these chests at the "Chests" tab above the map:

    as a "Mixed" entry. For example, if Player A uses Pure Frost, Player B will also have to use Pure Frost for the run to count toward a Pure Frost run.

    Sounds fun! What's the prize pool?

    There will be several prize pools: Fire, Nature, Frost, Shadow and Mixed. Submissions will be categorized in one of these groups depending on what kind of deck you play and submit (a submission without a submission type will be automatically counted as "Mixed")
    Both teams will be rewarded in case of a draw.
    Each submission type gets different rewards and all rewards are per player.

    The Special Rewards (without restrictions) can be achieved by everyone.
    The Community Award and the Special Rewards will both earn you bonus rewards.

    The voting for the Community Award winner will take place on Twitch, where we will reveal the contest winners as well.

    In conclusion
    This event focuses on your speed and forces you to play the map in a special way at the same time.

    To summarize the new event in simple steps:
    You play on the Slave Master map in Advanced Difficulty. Look at the Awards (keep in mind, these have the sole purpose to add complexity and are optional) and prize pools you wish to submit. Do your best to clear the map, while being as fast as possible and fulfilling all restrictions and requirements. Once you are satisfied with your result, DM (Minashigo Hiko#1126 on Discord) or PM your best replay to me (in the forum).
    You can submit up to three times, but not more than one per submission type. Make sure to add the submission type you went for in the replay name! Make sure to mention if you want to apply for a community award (The Quirky Defense) or one of the Bonus Awards. Wait until the end of the contest (28.07.2021 23:59 CEST) to see if you have won some prizes! We will announce the winners in a stream on the 31.07.2021 (time to be announced).

    Greetings Skylords!

    It's been two weeks already since our last community update so it's time to bring you up to speed with everything going on in Skylords Reborn!

    New Logo
    Already teased in the updated Discord icons and Facebook profile, we also have a new logo! We are very happy with our fresh new look, which inspired us to also take another look at our landing page. Nothing to share yet there, but we are currently in the first stages of a redesign, and hope to share more with you in the future.
    We'd also like to take this time to let you know we are going to post these Community Updates on our Reddit as well. Please make sure to follow us there if that is your preferred platform to stay up to date on Skylords Reborn. 

    New cards are now in development
    As mentioned in the last Community Update, the exciting moment has come to design brand new cards for the game. We will release these new cards in batches, instead of a full expansion. Our plan for the first batch is to create new cards for 3 different factions, with up to 9 cards added in total. We are also planning to add affinities to some, if not all, of these cards.
    The past week, patrons with the Moon tier or higher were able to vote for their favorite factions. We are excited to announce the 3 factions that will receive new cards:
    - Frost
    - Amii (Shadow / Nature)
    - Bandits (Shadow / Fire)

    Don't worry, we plan to add new cards for each faction over time, the voting only impacted the order of our release. Since this is new territory for us, we are currently not able to say when new cards will be ready, and when the vote for the next batch will be. We will be actively working on this, but we don't want to rush out new cards.
     

    Expansion Icon

    New cards need a new expansion icon! The community was able to vote for their favorite icon on our social media (Twitter, Discord, Facebook and Reddit). All icons (from left to right: Phoenix, Ouroboros, Triskelion and Lotus) were symbols of Rebirth, which we found fitting for the current stage of the project. The votes were extremely close, with our Discord community heavily leaning towards Ouroboros, while the other media were rallying behind the Phoenix icon. Here is the icon you can expect on our upcoming cards (not just the factions mentioned above):


    Until further notice, all upcoming Skylords Reborn cards will have this icon. We are also looking into creating multiple versions of this expansion symbol, depending on the rarity. And of course not all cards will be ultra rare. Please note again: new cards have now started development, but we have no specific cards to share at this moment.

    Upcoming Tournaments
    • FINISHED Official PvE Contest#1 Siege of Hope 
    The first official PvE contest on Siege of Hope is now finished! We will announce the winners in a stream on the 26th of June at 19:00 CEST.
    We will also do some giveaways, so even if you did not participate; we invite you all to join us!

    Besides a new Logo and Icon, our artist Tweeto has been working on adjusting the art of Firesworn. As most would agree, Firesworn always felt a bit off compared to the other fire cards. Tweeto made a few changes to make it feel more in line with the rest of your deck. We hope you like it!

    The artwork has not yet been adjusted in-game yet. We expect to add it in an upcoming content update to the live server. 
    There are still some cards we would like to give a slight upgrade, but we will only do so if there are no other tasks with more priority to work on. With new cards in development, new artworks for those cards currently have more priority. 

    New Team Members / Team Changes
    Our moderation team welcomes a new (old) member! Bradley will be helping us out with moderation again.
    We are also happy to announce our first official Map Designer: Hodron! 
    Right now he is spending a lot of time on designing the new rPvE presets mentioned in the last community update; specifically what units and or bosses you will encounter. 
    Our developer _empty_ stepped down from his position. He worked on creating the installer used by new players to more easily be able to install and play the game. We would to again thank him for his contributions!
    Additionally, we will soon be adding at least one new server developer. 
    We have also added a new role into our open positions; Marketeer/Outreach Coordinator. As an Outreach Coordinator you are responsible to spread the word and create awareness about Skylords Reborn and to attract veteran and new players alike. This includes actively researching and reaching out to potentially interested influencers, streamers, youtubers, Discord channels, game magazines, among others.

    Iteration 15 of our test server is here. It contains a lot of descriptive changes to card and ability descriptions, bug fixes, quality of life changes and balance changes to PvE and PvP.

    Where are balance changes discussed?

    How can I join the test server?
    To join the test server you simply need to launch LauncherTest.exe located in your BattleForge installation folder. It is important you run the updater first, so you download the latest test server files. In the future we plan to make it easier to join the test server.

    Balancing Changes
    Amok: Added green affinity similar to red affinity with increased charges from 4 to 8, increased duration from 15 to 20 seconds and additional damagebuff of 20% to all targets. Bloodthrist: Added green affinity: Will trigger the healing for every 600/500/400/400 damage that the unit dealt, heals 185/185/185/200 for 4 seconds. Core Dredge (blue): Its Shatter Ice effect also affects buildings now. Grim Bahir: Added Knockback resistance to the crawlers and gave them L counter. Ironclad (green & purple): Reduced duration of active from 20 to 15 seconds. Magma Hurler: Now deals +30 more damage per hit, 45 in total. Additionally, now properly displays the mean attack interval of 3.9 seconds and brings its attack value to 1730 instead of 1700 (the miniscule increase is because of the previous value being higher than it should be) Plague (Purple): Changed Orbs from 2 Shadow + 2 Neutral to 3 Shadow + 1 Neutral. Removed the effect on allies and added another spread wave that will infect another 3 targets with the same effect when one unit that is infected by one of the original parasites dies. Changed visual effects. Now the befallen's curse effect will indicate which unit will spread the parasites on death and which won't. QueekQueek (superpig): made attacks consistent with the normal version. Now has the same base attackspeed (3 seconds instead of 4,5) and damage per attack (76 to all targets instead of 106 to units and 70 to buildings and structures) (ofc still has the buff from super powers). Additionally, made the range of the teleport global instead of having a range of 500m. Overall the changes result in a slight buff to super pig. Shatter Ice: Removed the purple affinity and reduced the cooldown of the default version from 30 to 20 seconds to match the removed purple affinity. This was done because of a bug wih the purple affinity where it didn't ignore the 50% damage reduction of frozen targets. Shrine of Martyrs, Embalmer's Shrine, Willzapper, Lost Disruptor: changed it so that the own team and the enemy team can have one each active at the same time Stone Warrior (blue): Made ability usable on frozen buildings. Tempest: Streamlined U3 so that it deals 100% more damage to frozen targets on all upgrades (was only ~92% more for U3, while 100% for U0/1/2). Thugs (red): Removed Looter Void Maw (red and purple): Changed attack from 380 single target to splash with 10 m, 380 single dmg and 420 max dmg. Also increase charges from 8 to 12. Warlock (nature): Now properly ignores the 50% damage reduction of frozen targets and additionally deals 50% increased damage against them White Rangers (no affinity and blue): Home Defense now properly deals 100% damage against units, 50% against buildings and walls and no damage against monuments and wells. Quality of Life Changes
    Comet Catcher, Mana Wing, Soul Splicer, Decomposer, Timeless One: removed the min range of 1 Gladiatrix (purple): now does not apply the buff-immunity to allies units the ability was cast on Incredible Mo: Can now be switched back from every mode but the first one (there it is still automatically switched back after the ability is done). Abilities now also use the mode change icon to explain that 100% of the power used is gained as void power (as with all mode changes that cost energy). Adjusted the description accordingly Lifestream: U3 duration buff now won't also increase cooldown of the ability Moon: switched around active abilities on cards and description to fit her hotkeys Northstar (blue): now gives a debuff to hostile units when they will be frozen longer (only visualisation) Overlord: Reduced the hidden unhealability during the cast of Blood Sharing from 5 seconds to only 100 ms (= 0,1 seconds) exactly when the healing takes effect. Resource Booster: Can now be placed like a normal building and is not restricted to own power wells anymore. That was done because the restriction to be played is 15m and the aura is 20m Slaver: now triggers the eruption animation on death as the PvE version does. Stone Warrior: Now shows a debuff for the freeze/paralyze duration increase on attacked target. Voodoo Shack: now shows preview on being built Worldbreaker Gun: removed the min range of 1, changed the icon of the Giant Snowball active ability, made it possible to switch back into the normal mode (on switching into the Gaint Snowball Mode there is a 30 second delay on the active ability to keep the initial cooldown intact (would have been skipped after the second mode change else)) Bug Fixes
    Frost Shard (green): Fixed a bug that prevented the interaction with shatter ice on units. Grove Spirit: Fixed a bug with her U2 upgrade description. Infernal Chain: The given ability can now be properly used every 20 seconds. Lost Evocation: The blue affinity now also effects an unlimited amount of targets (like the red one) Mark of the Keeper: Aligned the range for cardplay block and mode change block to the range of the ability/ranged attacks block (30m to 35m) Mindweaver: Couldn't attack walls for whatever reason. Now can Mo (Promo): Fixed a bug where Promo Mo's Better Blues would only buff damage against units and not also against structures Northern Keep (frost): fixed a bug where the damage reduction from the ability was constantly active and not only while activation of the ability. Parasite Swarm, Stonekin Critters (the ones summoned by Deepfang), Twilight Parasite Swarm (PvE): Can now be properly slowed QueekQueek (normal): can now attack buildings (couldn't before for whatever reason) Sandstorm: Aligned card block radius (15) and corruption radius (20) to both 15m now. Also fixed a bug with the purple affinity that let to it not correctly applying the corruption leading to it only being active for 1 second every 6 seconds. Time Vortex: Gave it 40m attack range like every other tower in the game (except the long range ones) WindHunter, LostSpiritShip, Viridya (+ Promo), Shadow Insect (ability), Swamp Drake (+ Promo), Lost Vigil, Grim Bahir, Skycatcher, Twilight Creeper (the Projectile), Ironclad, Satanael, Infected Tower, Bandit Sorceress: Fixed a bug where the damage radius was applied at the center of a squad and not on the unit hit. They would then deal no damage when the targets were split up enough. Most noticably with projectiles that split squads themself (e.g. WindHunter) Winter Witch: fixed a bug where U1 would cast the ability of U2 Descriptive Changes (and changes to U0/1/2)

    Yes, the Stranglehold purple does include in this.

    We are aware, that some towers, that still fall under the "does damage" category, without having the damage number exist, but didnt wanted to write an exception list and therefore kept it wide spread.

    You will still get those lovely 200 points, as long as the tower deals damage.

    This tower only needs to be completely constructed, for the challenge to be achieved.

    You can destroy it when you like to or just ignore it.

    We hope you will have a lot of fun with this event!

    What will the event be?
    PvE - Siege of Hope - Expert Challenge with a point system. 

    When will it start?
    We will accept entries starting from 25.05.2021 00:00 CEST.

    The event will run for 3 weeks, you have time until mid June. To be specific: 15.06.2021 23:59 CEST.
    You can send your replays through DM to me in Discord (Minashigo Hiko#1126) or through a PM to me on the forum.

    How can I participate?

    No need to sign-up, just send in your best replay including the categories (see below) you think you have achieved. Note: you can only participate with a victory.
    For example: "Low points: a, c, d Total: 800; Medium points: h, i Total: 1200; High points: all Total: 2200"

    Nice and where is the difficulty?

    This event will have a point system: points will be rewarded by completing the following challenges. The goal is to get as many points as possible!
    You don't have to complete them all, but of course you should aim for as many points as you can in a single run.

Submissions will be categorized in one of those two groups depending on how many points the submission has: if the submission has a low amount of points it will be in the Novice group and if it has a high amount of points it will be in the Expert group. We will not disclose in what category a submission belongs, in the case of a draw, the faster time ranks higher. Each group has different rewards and all booster packs are the standard (all-editions) booster packs.

    - Make sure to add a description of the categories (points) you went for and completed!

    Greetings Skylords!

    It's been two weeks already since our last community update so it's time to bring you up to speed with everything going on in Skylords Reborn!
    Some exciting news to start off this community update: 

    New cards development: starting soon

    We have reached a great milestone: we are ready to create some new cards! We will release these new cards in batches, instead of a full expansion. Our plan for the first batch is to create new cards for 3 different factions, with up to 9 cards added in total. We are also planning to add affinities to some, if not all, of these cards.
    As a thank you to our (Moon and higher) patrons, they will have a chance to vote on the 3 factions which we will create cards for. The two most picked factions will receive new cards. The Skylords Reborn team will then pick the last faction to create new cards for, resulting in a total of up to 9 brand new cards (excluding affinities) for the game! 
    Don't worry, we plan to add new cards to each faction over time, the current voting only impacts the order of our release.
    A few things to note:
    • The poll will be open for one week, until the 11th of June.
    • Voting happens on Patreon. Moon tier and higher Patrons will be able to vote. 
    • The factions to vote for are: Fire • Frost • Shadow • Nature • Bandits • Stonekin • Lost Souls • Twilight • Amii (Nature/Shadow).
    • We are currently not able to add Fire/Frost cards.
    • We have not commited to a 3-3-3 split, some factions might get more or less cards, depending on their needs or design space. 
    • People vote for the faction, not the actual cards. Our balance and development teams will look at what cards to add, and what role they will play.
    • Since this is new territory for us, we are currently not able to say when new cards will be ready, and when the vote for the next batch will be. We will be actively working on this, but we don't want to rush out new cards.

    Changes to Patreon benefits
    From now on, being subscribed on Patreon with at least the Moon tier will give you a vote for the next poll. Once a new poll is here and you unsubscribed in between, we will reach out to you to ask for your vote. After a poll is done, you will only be allowed to vote in the next poll if you subscribe for at least one month again.
    We hope this new flexibility will make it easier to support the project in a way you feel comfortable with.

    Fire/Frost cards 
    Let's talk about the elephant in the room: Fire/Frost cards. As most of you are aware, EA never released a single Fire/Frost card before the servers got shut down. Because of this, there is no cardframe for a Fire/Frost card in the game, and because of the way the game is written, it's currently not possible to add new cards for this faction.
    We are however hard at work to make this possible in the future.

    More factions for rPvE (on the test server)
    We rolled out a change on the test server which unlocks more factions in rPvE. For example, its now possible to play against Lost Souls in 1 player rPvE. You can read the patch notes that includes this change and how to join the test server here. This is currently still being tested, so please let us know on our rPvE Discord server if you run into anything weird.
    Prior to this change you could only receive:
    • Luminousland, Jungleland, Winterland and Lavaland in 4 player rPvE
    • Bushland, Ghostland and Twilightland in 2 player rPvE
    • Greenland, Frostland and Cactusland in 1 player rPvE
    We also have plans to add Shadow, Nature, Fire and Frost as enemies in the future, resulting in four more factions you might fight your way through rPvE. It's already possible to test these out in the community map section on both the test and live server. 

    We hope you will enjoy this new content on the test server and we hope to bring it to the live servers soon.

    New PvE Taskforce


    In the last community update we shared our design philosophy. In an effort to gather good PvE feedback for the future, we are happy to announce our newly constituted PvE Taskforce! For now, we have decided to include 5 initial members:

    1. Lebovim – Mapmaker, Skylord of Honor, Master of the Skylords Reborn wiki, and one of the game’s top speedrunners.
    2. Keksmonsta – Top PvE player with a wide and deep knowledge of the game who has shown his ability to constructively represent the interests of the competitive PvE and speedrunner communities.
    3. Volin – Very active and helpful top RPvE player. Volin’s knowledge of PvE and RPvE will help us to have the knowledge to make informed design decisions.
    4. Chibiterasu – Our own beloved balancing developer, Chibi has already been partially playing this role in the background, we now want to formalize and expand it.
    5. Bini Inibitor – Bini has previously proven himself full of good suggestions, the initial idea to allow heal/rejuvenation stacking should be credited to him, the further development of the idea to Chibi.
    As you might have noticed, we tried to include representatives of the different segments of the Skylords community, from average players up to the game’s top speedrunners. In the future, we would like to rotate in guest members as well.
    Additionally, in the near future we will be releasing a document detailing our new balancing process. While we are happy with the progress we have made recently, we also think that a more defined process with set deadlines will help us to increase our pace of development, especially as we begin adding new cards to the game. This will also come with larger changes to the balancing discord.

    Upcoming Tournaments
    As we mentioned in our first community update, you can also check out the new tournaments and events happening in-game. Just click the scroll on the menu and check out the event tab for the upcoming events you can participate in. 
    • Official PvE Contest#1 Siege of Hope 
    Our first official PvE contest is running! Play Siege of Hope Expert with a twist! Our Event Organizer has created a point system that allows multiple strategies and hopefully rewards for thinking outside of the box. Speedrunning still gets you points, but speedrunning alone won't be enough to win this one! A promo of your choice is one of the prizes, so make sure to check it out!

    New Team Members
    We mentioned earlier that we are looking into making Fire/Frost cards possible. A key member in this task is Kubik, who has returned to the project as Client/Reverse Engineer Developer.
    We are also planning to add more server developers in the very near future to speed up progress. We are still looking for new team members however! If you want to see Skylords Reborn succeed, please take a look at how you can help.

    Dear Skylords, Skyladies, and other skyfolk,
    As you may know I've been here a long, long time. 12 years ago on the official forums, and pretty much ever since this project started. Over those years a lot has changed, for better and for worse. Both myself and some of the veterans around here have seen the game and its dev team rise and fall more often than we'd all like to admit, but we prevailed and we held on to Nyn and the wonders of this unique RTS/TCG hybrid. BattleForge has always been a great passion of mine, as a player and as a developer.
    But times change, and life changes, and as Skylords Reborn grew to the size and state that it is now, my own time had to be more and more divided. Graduation, running a full-time job, major changes in my personal life and thought processes, and the ongoing pandemic have greatly jumbled up my day-to-day life, my mind, and my available time and energy. This has had quite an impact on how well I can contribute to this project right now, and so I've come to the conclusion that it doesn't feel appropriate to be a part of the SR team for as little work as I'm able to get myself to contribute. 
    It's with a heavy heart I'm saying I am, on my own accord, stepping down from the SR team for the time being, but I feel that it's necessary. This is purely personal and has nothing to do with the current team, community, or the game itself; after all, we've accomplished so much, all of us! Thanks to all of you we've actually succeeded in what many thought to be utterly impossible; to revive an entire game purely out of passion, figuring out its inner workings, and altering it to make it a 100% free, enjoyable, non-profit game to keep enjoying despite the studio having long been disbanded. I've had the pleasure of working with an already fantastic community and team on a passion project others would dream of, and over time the team's grown so much.
    It's been fantastic working on Skylords for so long and the game and project still are very dear to me. Throughout the years I've learnt tremendously much and have helped to keep things afloat in both bright and darker times for the project; it's been a rollercoaster for all of us. But we got there! We got to a fantastic release and have a whole revitalised and excited team ready to support all of you for a long time to come! This project is now in better hands than I could ever have anticipated, and I am happy and confident to leave Skylords Reborn to some of the most capable people I've had the pleasure of meeting.
    I'll be stepping down after having been a long-time admin, CM, moderator and designer, and though I will keep providing some advice and help in the background, I will stop being a dev and remain a player. Perhaps I'll return if my personal life allows for it in the future, but as of right now I simply don't think I can contribute enough. 
    It's been an absolute honour being a part of BattleForge's development throughout well over a decade, and I want to thank everybody for their continued work, support and belief in the amazing things we've ended up accomplishing. That includes you, no matter how long you're here or if you even know me. We did it! I'm still so proud of all of us, and I am happy to know the project's in great hands. Keep up the amazing work and let the hype train rage ever onward.

    Greetings Skylords!

    It's been two weeks since our first community update so it's time to bring you up to speed with everything going on in Skylords Reborn!
    PvP Balance Patch 2 (Patch 400028)
    We released a patch filled with balance changes this week. You can check out the detailed patch notes on the Wiki.
    Some 1vs1 maps have also been changed (no more offensive walling!) and are now added to ranked play as well. 
    In the meantime, we are already setting our sights on Balance Patch 3. You can check out the upcoming changes in the document attached to this post. Those changes will hit the test server much earlier than the previous ones. This is an intended move as it allows us to work with more iterations to make sure a lot of fine tuning can be done. This patch is focused more on buffs, and many of the changes will bring some new strategies into the Forge, that require more testing compared to the previous process. On top of that this will also be an opportunity for you to test the changes a little bit longer as well to provide more playtesting feedback, that we can use to reevaluate our proposals.     PvE: State of PvE

    This is the second Balance Patch focused on mostly PvP changes. We understand this might give the impression PvE is less important for us. We would like to take a bit of time to assure you this is not the case and give you an idea of things that are currently being worked on.
    First of all, you can expect our Design Philosphy to be shared soon. This document was a bit delayed, but we think it's important to have a clear vision of the PvE scene going forward so everyone knows what to expect and give a better explanation of why we do the things we do.
     Of course you can always share your personal feedback in the balance discord, even if we don't respond immediately, all the feedback is important to us and is discussed. We are also planning to restructure the balance discord, you will hear more on that subject soon.
    PvE is a lot harder to balance than PvP, because the playerbase is very divided on what they consider fun, fair, or part of the coregame. We know not everyone will agree with all the changes we will make in the future. We encourage you to provide feedback, but please do so in a constructed manner. We are all fans of the game, and we want what's best for it. 
    PvE: Patch
    Speaking of changes, there is also a PvE patch coming up. Just like with our PvP patches, we will test those changes out on the Test Server first and make adjustments where necessary. You can find all the upcoming changes in the document attached to this post.

    PvE: In Development
    Some cool things are also coming to PvE in the future. They are currently in various stages of development.
    - Defensive Random PvE mode
    Similar to a 4 player Random PvE, but instead of attacking you are defending against random enemies. We hope this will provide a fun twist to the rPvE scene. 

    - Random PvE presets rework
    We are reworking existing rPvE factions and adding the 4 basic elements as factions. This means in the future you might go up against Harvesters and Fire Dragons. 
    - Polishing Battle Arena 
    Some of you might already be familiar with Battle Arena, a fun PvP map where you get one random unit and have to score points by killing the other units. Once your unit dies, you get a new one and move slowly up the tiers. 
    - New World Map Overview
    Still in its early stages, but we are also considering adjusting the world map to include popular PvE community maps. There are some great gems hidden in the community map section and there might be great content waiting for you out there already that you have never discovered. 
    Most of those things are not ready to go public yet, and we will use the community updates to keep you up to date on their progress. We found it important to share them with you already to show we have definitely not forgotten the PvE scene. We are always in need of map testers, map artists and map creators however, so if you want to help, please check out our open positions. 

    Public Test Server
    Some of you might not be aware of how easy it is to play on the test server, so here is a quick reminder. To get to the test server, all you have to do is start "LauncherTest.exe" in you Battleforge folder. On the test server you can check out the new changes that are currently being tested and provide feedback on the balancing discord. To get back to the official server, all you have to do is launch the normal launcher again. 

    Upcoming Tournaments

    • Skylords Open 7
    This sunday (9th of May) you can again battle it out in the Skylords Open #7. A 1vs1 community tournament hosted by Toggy, open for everyone, and with prices! 
    • Community Challenge 3
    There is also a PvE contest going on until the 31th of May. Try to complete the community map King's Ridge as fast as you can in the Community Challange #3 for a chance to win some prices!
    There are also some new events in the works, which brings us to the next point:

    New Team Members
    We are happy to announce two new team members have joined the Skylords Reborn team. 
    First up is Minashigo Hiko, our new Event Organiser. He will be the go-to person for people who want to organize an event in Skylords Reborn. Got a cool PvE contest idea or do you want to host a PvP tournament so Toggy can actually play instead of host? Please contact Hiko and he will help you make it happen! Hiko is also hard at work at creating fun events for you to play, so look forward to that as well. 
    We would like to point out that the event organizer role is not exclusive. If you want to help organizing events, you can still apply for this position as well.
    We are also very excited to have MarcoMaar join the team as our new Client Developer. He will be responsible for adding new features, modifying user interfaces, or fixing bugs in our game client. Up until recently, he was working on a new ingame section, where you are able to see all of your opened boosters. Below, you can see a sneak peek of this new feature


    We are still looking for new team members however! For example, we currently have a lack of Discord Moderators, which actually prevents us from being very active with our marketing (in the current state we would risk being overrun with new players without moderators). If you want to see Skylords Reborn succeed, please take a look at how you can help. We will also added new positions: backend web developer, frontend web developer and C# developer.

    Another month, another PvE Contest!
    This time it is something special, because we are going to play community maps!
    The Map
    The map this contest is held on is called "King's Ridge". It is a community map made by Spitzkopf and polished by Emmaerzeh.
    In order to play the map, you have to go to the community maps section at the very bottom right of the world map and select King's Ridge from the menu.

    What?
    We are having a Speedrun contest on the community map King's Ridge with extra rules.
    The contest is split into two different challenges:
    1. The silver challenge:
    The silver challenge is the easier version of the contest. In order to compete in the silver challenge, you have to beat King's Ridge on Advanced difficulty without the use of Amii Monument and Enlightenment.

    2. The gold challenge:
    The gold challenge is the hard mode of the contest for those of you, who seek a more difficult challenge! You are allowed to use Enlightenment in a pure nature deck, but only to cast nature T4 cards.
    There will be separate prices for each pure faction, so you are allowed to compete in all of them at once!

    Due to popular request, here's a short tutorial on how to disable the autojoin chat funciton in Battlefoge:
    If you follow the steps you'll be able to disable or enable the autojoin function for every chat individually and don't have to type "/leave XY" every time you start up Battlefoge.
     
    1. Open your Battlefoge folder and search for the file config.json

     
    2. Open the config.json file with an editor

     
    3. Add or edit the highlighted part below.
    To disable the autojoin funciton (does not join chat on startup) replace true with false on the corresponding line.
    To enable the autojoin function (automaticly joins chat on startup) replace false with true on the corresponding line.

    4. Save config.json

    Hello everyone.
    I'll keep it short. Past few months, I've been working on our web API that is completely public and available for everyone to use. I've also created simple, functional (but stylistically not very pretty) user interfaces that visualize and consume the said API.
    User interface applications are open-sourced on my GitHub. The repository also contains complete instructions on how to consume the API yourselves, if you were to decide to create your own frontend applications. But, you have to be somewhat profficient in web development to understand and begin doing stuff on your own. 
    Issues tab is to be used freely for any and all suggestions and bug reports.
    Pull Requests that improve and extend the existing UIs are more than welcome. After manual review, they might get merged into the master branch and appear as a part of the next website update.

Have in mind these applications are also the first version, they will definetly get improved and extended, as well as the API.
    For some of you, these applications and the API open up whole lot of possibilities.
    For example, now you could create an application that tracks the average price of every card and makes a nice graph. You could even extend the search options with card orbs, expansion, rarity, etc. 
    Or you could create an application that tracks all auctions for a specific card and sends you a mail or push notification when a card appears on the auction house, but is equal or below the specified price.
    Average concurrent players/matches graph could be visualized by querying the Statistics API every 2/5/X minutes.
    Those of you who understood everything said and know what you're doing, will use this to its maximum potential.
