New Game Mode: Capture the Flag

 THE IDEA:

  • Game Mode 4v4
  • The flag spawns in the middel of the map
  • Teams must capture the flag  15 times to win the game
  • If the Flag is dropped it returns to the middel of the map after 30 seconds
  • Timelimit for a whole match is 40 minutes
  • If time expires the team with more captured flags wins the game

     

  • Amount of Resources heavliy increased but they are not unlimited
  • Resources are shared through a combined pool
  • Teamwork is required to manage your resources properly
  • Resourcegathering remains the same as in all other game modes
  • Should a team run out of Resources it is given a final resourceboost

 

  • Unitlimit is decreased from 120 to 100 
  • You can't control  another players unit
  • Cost of Units remain the same 

EDIT:  - cant decrease the unitnumber

         - cant share  resources

should technically be possible to do, I mean the oracle map has wagons that will move towards one goal with your units close and back to its origin with enemy units near.

So all the scripts and technical stuff "should" be in the game. question is just if its accesible for the devs

so if a true capture teh flag isnt possible at least the option is there that certain amount of those wagons need to be controlled to win even if it cannot be moved between 3 checkpoint but only two (being start and goal and not 2 goals)

Anyway, since I have some experience with mapscrips I can pretty confidently categorize your idea points:

Doable in mapscrips:

  • The flag spawns in the middel of the map
  • Teams must capture the flag 15 times to win the game

"Doable" with quite a lot of effort and not really functioning the way you want and unfixable bugs:

  • Resources are shared through a combined pool - voidpower system and unable to be at negative power
  • Should a team run out of Resources it is given a final resourceboost - same reason, power is not trackable in mapscripts, at least not directly which makes this a nightmare to code

Not doable in mapscripts & maybe doable with dev-magic:

  • Game Mode 4v4 - limit is 3v3
  • Unitlimit is decreased from 120 to 100 - global variable
  • You can't control another players unit - if the player should use player cards they will be able to mindcontrol, but with only generated units, this is possible

I don't know if something like this exists - I have never made my own map - but what about just making the unit, that is carrying the flag immune to mindcontrol spells? Would something like that be possible?

i didnt know we have a map editor xD but thanks for reminding me it exists  .
