I mean... I'm dealing with divorced parents, just like a lot of other kids/teens/people this day and age, and Nintendo has always been primarily targeting younger audiences, and also connecting irl which is why they've been in the lead on handhelds for years. Also allows for easily taking it with you when you're going to hang out at a friends place, etc. And it's bigger then a phone lol. And idk, I just like being able to play in my room then, at some other point in the living room, or when the weather is nice just go sit outside. There's really plenty of reasons why the function of easily being able to move can be helpful.
