Help with Bandit Deck

Recommended Posts

Hey folks!

I've came back after a long time away and I was hoping to get myself back to speed on my decks.

Currently I have a complete Bandit deck but I never really bothered in fully understanding it since  I was mostly playing it pretty casually no futher then Advanced mostly, that said I was hoping if anyone could help me out with an updated advice on how to use this deck I'd really appriciate!

Usually I prefer to use cards like the SoulHunter and the Corsairs as my main L units and the Sunstriders with Firesworns as my 1rst Orb ones. I don't have a fixed 2nd and 3rd Orb units and my 4rth Orb ones are still a literal question mark in my deck as well (used to have Bloodhorn in it but not sure anymore).

Magics and Buildings I'm up for complete overhauls

T1 : nomad G, eruption, mine is the safe bet & the heart of a fire start. Rest is more situational (makeshift tower to defend vs S units early game, blaster canon if you need T1 anti air, mortar tower for strong T1 def but it's micro intensive, sunstrikers & suppression & sunderer are all good anti-building solutions, firesworn is seen in rpve & some campaign maps to counter L units at T1). Overall fire T1 is the strongest in Rpve, and in general top 2 start in Cpve depending on maps.
90% of the time it will look like this : summon 3 nomad, approach ennemy units without having them aggro (just need to see them at max vision range), place a mine, run toward them so they aggro, and immediately turn back, let walk on the mine, turn back and charge while they are taking dmg.
The rest you'll have to neuter buildings, defend a spot or face L units (mine are less practical there).

There are some maps where nightguard opening is better than fire (Titan expert pos 4, pos 1 unexpected visitors, …), but overall T1 fire > T1 shadow

T2 : shadow phoenix + embalmer shrine still kick ass. What you need : build 2 embalmer shrine, then wait 1 mn (summon your phoenix in the meantime). Add each of your shrine on a keyboard shortcut (like 2 & 3), send your phoenix kill ground units. The shrine ability will make it laughably easy for your phoenix to respawn. It's a bit micro intensive & you can't deal with air, but it's absurdly powerfull.

Commandos are great, particularly in defense with rioter retreat G, time vortex B can also be used instead. This is for T2  def in cpve. You can add a furnace of flesh if the waves of ennemies are constant (Guns of Lyr for example) so you have void return fixed for the rest of the game.

Bandit minefield is a must have. Same use as mine.
Outside of phoenix combo & commandos defense combo, other units at T2 are playable (skyfire drake, fire stalker, gladiatrix) but you will be far from the efficiency of these.

Lava field is often played as a good secondary damage spell. Ravage & unholy  power are just not really played in bandit.

Fire force B can also find a place if you have good melee units in your deck.

T3 : ashbone pyro, magma hurler, soulhunter & corsair P are all good. Gunners ain't bad also, but a bit more situational because they require corsair support. In spells, you have a bunch of great fire & shadow support : frenetic assault, infect, soulshatter, bloodhealing, unity. You have also access to shrine of war & resource booster as great support buildings, & necro-blaster for defense.
That's a lot of cards, but you must choose if you go either 2 shadows or 2 fire at T3. This will depend on the map (in rpve people prefer 2 shadows, but for cpve it's map dependant), & on the combo you want.

T4 : Bloodhorn or banzai lord as main units are great. Emberstrike can be used as fuel for bloodhealing or offering. Volcano & artillery for T4 defense in campaign if needed. For spells, either you go solo bloodhorn (lifeweaving, unholy hero, blood healing on emberstrike), or mass bloodhorn (unity + bloodthirst, maybe even fire force B if you really want tankiness) or banzai lord (in that case you go for 3 shadow orb & play plague + neither warp). If you play bloodhorn, you'll also want amok & perhaps cluster explosion.

Hey man! Thanks alot for the help!

This helped a great deal in both rPVE and cPVE! Commandos are trully something special when used with the Rioter's Retreat and the Mines are something I never thought about actually using until now, they gave me a whole new perspective on how I can use my Bandit deck more efficiently!

I'm still undecided on the tier 3 cards because I feel the Soulhunter + Corsairs, although quite powerfull don't seem to fit as well as I expected, perhaps I should swap Corsairs entirely and focus in a differet tier 3 (except magma haulers as I do have those already) to provide more melee support for it?

Do you give your T3 units spell support ? Unity is a great support spell.

Both soulhunter and corsair are great at T3.

And for what game mode. Cpve, Rpve ?

I haven't been using Unity lately but I'm testing it as I'm typing this reply and I think I may have overestimated the benefits of using the B version of it.

I've been using this deck to play both actually, I guess this may be limiting me in some way I'm not aware of yet, but so far I feel it's been pretty reliable even if I'm still struggling to find the right cards to make the deck work at it's best. I've been able to complete a couple of expert campaign missions without much trouble and at least  Advanced + (5) rPvE maps too.
