No card will be removed from the game. We can talk about how to fix certain cards which are too strong in any way but I have not read any good reason for a card to be OP in the whole forum atm.
I've yet to met someone that can explain me why curse well is not broken and why he likes the card or how it adds any skill/fun/thrill to a T3 fight.
Please tell me how you delt with defensive stonekin or lost souls who only turtled to T3 to use it's OPnes. Let's say you are fire/nature, have no power disadvantage and all you have to do is break through that timeless one/shield building/glacier/kobold/AoC/grigori/silverwind defense. How to not get cursed well to a disgracing, slow death.
And save me from that ,,you can play it yourself'' crap. You ether didn't play in 2013 or you are ignorant if you were decently ranked and say curse well is not OP.

Sorry if i raged a bit, but if i hear one more player saying:,,everything's totally balanced'' and then see him playing lost souls with as much broken/Op cards/combos as possible i lose my faith in mankind.

2. in BFs last state i found the most OP thing to be a defensive frostsplash with curse well , especially OP with cultist void return. Other relatively OP things were somehow counterable with a certain amount of preparation or skilladvantage (you could have destroyed pure nature early T2 before SOM or EPs paid off; good iceshield towers or primal defenders negated phase towers etc.).
BUT defensive lost souls with a 5 card T3 was practically uncounterable by most decks that made sense in the meta.

3. Eventhough i would love to see 500 viable cards in PVP, i would still be very careful about buffing.
This is especially important for cards that tend to scale dramatically like ,,X-times void = damage'' or anything that doesnt bind power in combination with powermanipulation.
When useless backlash became buffed, it was OP all of a sudden and there was no way around it if you were an ELO-greedy skylord.
Sunken temple is really strong wit SoM, it's just that out of the 3 pure nature players nobody tested it or found a slot for it. It's also the last card needed in a faction with already UP early T2 and OP late T2.
Cards like rippers and northguards are cards that aren't too weak in my opinion, they simply have not the right concept to fit in the deck they're supposed to belong. Northguards for example have amazing stats, but unfortunately MAs and frostmages outshine them, buffing them might leave them OP in some scenarios and still useless most of the time. Same goes for rippers: DAs > any S-counter in a shadowsplash. I read earlier that shadow insects were useless !? With support from fallen skyelfs ability they could almost instantly kill a Juggernaut !
I think there might be 50 - 100 cards that had the lable ,,useless'' but were infact relatively strong, just outshined by ,,easier to use'' or even stronger cards. I would be really carefull about buffing one of those. Also with such a low highrank population there wasn't enough testing going on.
Even if there's the chance to balance weekly or monthly i would still be very cautious and take a approach like:,,how to balance this faction?'' instead of:,,how to make this card see more PVP?''
I find the thought of having a new ,,freak of the weak'' after every buffing quite unpleasant.

Well, I think just generally cards might need to be buffed for pve but stay the same for pvp, just to give decks more diversity in pve. And even then, I think that some possible nerfs for pvp cards may affect the cards pve use. So I think that these kinds of changes are still very relevant.
+ 1 for buffing PVE cards for more diversity
+ 1 for seperate PVE/PVP card-changes, if that's possible
still i don't really see how future PVP-balancing (i.e. nerfing energy parasites, buffing parasite swarm, buffing bandit stalker) could ruin someones PVE-experience. But well, if there can be different stats for cards in PVE and PVP as suggested, it wont be an issue anyway.

And I'm not restricting this to mortar tower either, it's just a good example, heck, the 95% damage reduction aura that my avatar has is pretty much the definition of OP.
I know you're not, I just got the feeling that Sun was saying Mortar didn't need the nerf.
my argument was more like:
PVE-player thinks future nerfs might destroy cards for PVE --> i think there's no need to bother because future nerfs will/should be only fine-tuning.
Mortar tower was just an example. Even a card like this, wich is steadily critizised by nature and frost players is now ALMOST balanced and won't need harsh nerfs like it did in the first patches.

It isn't that a map becomes unbeatable, but more that using that unbalanced card in a map would become [s]impossible[/s] disadvantageous. I'll stick with the example of Mortar Tower for now. Say you could take out a ranged enemy spawn camp with it originally because it was able to shoot within 30m - 50m at a cooldown of 20 secs. Then suddenly EA changed it for PvP because that was obviously very strong and made walls almost pointless. But the changes being that you could only shoot nearby your own troops within it's own 30m range made it completely useless in PvE as it would just fall before it's long cooldown (60 secs) of its only attacking ability could come back up, making it a 1 shot deal for very little progress, if any, even as a heavy micro defensive tower. This made it entirely pointless to own as a card if you PvE'd as there were just far better choices to spend your card slot AND points on. http://bit.ly/1TNt6yw

That's the kind of balance destruction in PvE I mean, and my friends all agree, so I don't think I'm alone in that thinking, but maybe I am.
Nice to get to know another point of view when it comes to balancing. When i made contributions to balance discussions in BF i was always one to also think of the effects they would have on PVE. But it seems i was thinking in a wrong direction because when there were nerfs i mostly thought: ,,Okay that wont hurt them because it wont mess up speedrun records, they might even like it because it's more challenging now...they're PVE-players - they like challenges !''
Never thought of the fact that PVE-only-players could lose cards completly. But that's also because of the fact that in my time the game was already fairly balanced. I think those harsh nerfs like the mortar tower example won't be needed anymore.
Can't say i know exactly what to balance, but most of the PVP community agrees that there are only slight changes needed (like balancing nature T2 a little and making bandits a little more competitive, maybe also killing cursewell :) )
I would be surprised if there would be any more nerfs that would kill cards for PVE.
about balancing democracy: Eventhough i would like for everyone to have a choice, i wouldn't want a PVP beginner's opinion to have the same weight as a PVP-vets one who spent nights sleeples because of balancing thoughts. Maybe there's a middleway.

My biggest concern about elections is twofold. First of all, the voters, should everyone be allowed to vote ? If so how do we prevent people from using multiple accounts to vote for themselves or someone they agree with.

I think a restriction like a minimum post count or something like that could help. Can't think of something better at the moment.

Secondly should everyone be allowed to run ? If so you might end up with people who doesn't have the micro/skill to play the game at the highest level.  On top of that how do you ensure that the council is mixed properly, you might end up with two pure frost players and having none on the council that plays pure shadow.
i think microskills aren't important in that matter. Intelligence, experience (knowing the meta as good as possible) and objectivity are more important. Of course the players in the council should have some high-rank experience, though.
I don't think the forum would vote for a beginner, the best PVP players are widely known.
To ensure that every faction is represented, there would indeed have to be some kind of ministry for each one. Luckily there are a lot of quite highranked players who know every deck or at least more than one.

Edit: :D  last sentence wasn't a pun in your direction, i always used to be a fan of your rootnetworks !

9. curse well, anyone remember ?
frost protects plus this spell made frostsplash T3s OP because theres no counter to a one-click-well-destruction. Glacier/kobold/shieldbuilding made a counteroffensive near impossible. That was the most unbalanced thing to me (because mathces with frost splash contribution werent unusual to reach T3)

10. his name is so irritating ... i dont even know why - is it the missing letter...or that it's not frosdestroyer ? It irritated me 2 years ago and it irritates me now !

Edit: just noticed, there's not only one R missing, but two ! Maybe there's a pattern i didn't understand till now

11. Hey, i'm SunWu, ancient skylord who used to love BF, especially for it's PVP.

Didn't really see a chance of BF coming back until i found out about this. I wish the developers of this project the best of luck in succeeding !

My favourite decks were pure nature (played it only in PVE, it was too challenging in PVP), bandits, pure frost and pure shadow. Stonekin was alright, too...somebody told MaranV about this already ?
