Hello fellow Skylords!

It is that time of the year, so let us show our compassion and love to our fellow skylords...by beating them in single combat!  Who will win the Stress Test Open#3?

Format?

It will be a 1vs1 Single Elimination best of 3 tournament. Semi finals and finals will be all played on stream. (Do not start the semis without me)

Prize Pool! (subject to change)

1st place  - 1500 BFP

2nd place - 1000 BFP

3rd place - 700BFP

4th place - 500

When?

On 08.12.18 starting on 4pm CET, the stream will start about one hour in advance.

Where?

In the Sparring grounds, get the community observer maps to enable observers/streaming.

LINK

Extract the folder to Documents/Battleforge/

Please test if the maps are accessible for you before the tournament. Use the bracket list in Challonge to contact other participants if you need help (or contact me).

Organisation?

The tournament brackets will be on Challonge, so register and join the tournament there. Please use your in game account name to make communication and finding your enemy easier.

Rules!

-No bugabuse, cheating or insulting the other players. Penalties may vary from a warning to default loss.

-Disconnection during a game results in a default loss. If both sides agree it is possible to have a remake. Should there be severe server problems matches will be posponed.

-Not showing up to your match with a complete team after 15 minutes results in a default loss. The plan is to play a round of matches every 30 mins.

-To make sure we can handle your situation correctly or determine who won, save the replay of your matches. This is performed by going to Documents/Battleforge/replays and altering the name of autosave.pmv (Do this before playing another game or the Autosave will be overwritten). Please use a descriptive title.

-After your match go to Challonge and insert the result. That is done by clicking on your match and selecting the winner/stats . The brackets will be updated automatically.

-The Map Pool is: Haladur, Simai and Elyon. The first match of the round will be played on Haladur, then it is loser's choice. Second round will start with Simai, third one with Elyson then Haladur again.

So again in short:

-Decide to play and register for the Tournament in Challonge.

-Download and extract the community observer maps.

-Be online before 4pm CET on 08.12.18 and contact your enemy, invite him into a party and then host the first map (Haladur) and play the match. Then the loser picks a map of the pool above, play that. Repeat until one player has 2 wins. If you are not able to contact your enemy and he is not contacting you, proceed as if you have won.

-If you win, go to Challonge and confirm your win and update the bracket. It will show your next enemy. Save the replay of the match.

-Relog, contact your next enemy, invite him to a party and then host (Simai/Elyon). Repeat until you are in semi finals and do not start without me.

-Semi finals and finals will be all played on stream. Communication will be via Battleforge, the stream and Discord.

-Win the tournament and eternal glory. Also some BFP and cards.

Reply in this thread if you have questions, I will check it out later. This was a lot of text but as described under "So again in short" it is not a lot of work.

I would love to see this community grow again and the competitive scene develop as well. This is a third step.

Please recheck this thread before the tournament in case the map pool, rules or staff/mods will change.

Best regards,

DasToggy

Wouldn't it be more interesting/fun for new players to split tournaments up in "pro" players like MaranV,hirooo, radical X and inexperienced players?

Since now everyone knows who will win by just looking at the brackets

Hey,

I thought about hosting a "rookie" Tournament for upcoming players but there are several problems with that.

-Who to in/exclude is rather difficult since i know several very strong players who did not yet make their tournament appearance.

-I simply do not think we would have more than ~5 Participants since everyone who is not participating because they want to win the tournament will not join anyways...because he knows one player in that tournament who is stronger than himself.

Personally I would prefer everyone to compete in the same tournament and for more inexperienced players to try and get their skill up. I mean you do not have to win the whole thing, just go in for a few games.

Also we have the weekly "Battleforge Fightclub" on Wednesday evening to give everyone who wants to learn PvP or improve a platform.

Greeting,

DasToggy

I like the idea to spread price pool down to reward most participants in some way. If possible with time concerns in mind a losers bracket would also help to increase the minimum amount of matches a player is able to play.

Hello there,

4 Players out of ~16 already get a reward but if it is demanded it would be possible to downscale rewards in further tournaments.

A Double Elimination Tournament is planned and will take place in the next year :-) .

See you all later for the tournament!

Greetings,

To spread out the prizes, I would suggest running something that is known as "sections." In chess/battleforge once rankings are in, you can split the tournament into smaller sections based on ELO, so there is not such a high skill gap between players.

I would suggest self-selected sections, with section A having prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, and section B only having a prize for 1st, which is lower than the 3rd place prize. This way players can choose which section to be in, but there is a strong incentive to be in the top section, so only rookies would choose section B.
