Money Trading.

Recommended Posts

Hi!
I have been lurking around the forum for a couple of years now and was one of the first to sign up to this project and I recently got to play a little bit on the Open Beta Stress Test. I have a concern that i wish to address.
I know this might be a hot topic, but i did not find any clarifications anywhere or in any ToS that glanced this subjected.
So i remember back in the days people used to trade cards for IRL money through Paypal or by hand. Obviously Skylords are not EA thus they might not even have the same rule-set as EA.

Obviously some cards are more rare than others and some people just dont want to spend time playing the game for weeks if not months to get their daily BFP so that they may buy 1 Ultra Rare card.
The initial demand for BFP and trading will extremely high so many people might resolve to the money solution, since the supply of cards are low and limited.
Overtime the demand will decrease and thus many cards will be worth not a whole lot, since everybody gets free BFP and the fact that there will be more BFP around, thus a higher supply and eventually lower demand (because of the likelihood that Skylords wont be a 'massive' thing, since Battleforge was not a hugely popular game in the first place.

I am not personally for IRL trading but i just wanted to raise my concern because i know some people (hardcore PVP and PvE - Ranked Ladder People) will turn to it since its the only way to get a competitive edge in the first couple of days and even weeks.
Hopefully some Mod will see this post and bring it up at a meeting, since this can heavily impact the game negatively.

I don't know what the current ruling on this is. I'm new to BFR. Old BF player and have been following this project for awhile.

My 2 cents.

I think trading cards for $$ is fine, just like in a paper TCG.

It gives value to the cards you collect in game.

I don't see how allowing p2p trade is a bad thing for a TCG/RTS like BFR.

The moment you allow this, the server will get flooded with chinese farmers. Apart from that, it edges on multi-accounting, which I just read is forbidden.

Nice idea, but ...

We will have multiples resets of our account during the Alpha, Beta, ... ,Omega, Release

so, noone would like to buy cards with real money for 5days/5weeks/5months.

Obviously nobody is gonna put up money for ingame content until the game is fully released. I also highly doubt the chinese farmers will target this game as there isn't enough money to be made and the playerbase is nowhere near high enough. It works for games like WoW because they have millions of players as well as a way to use tons of currency that isn't very short lived and finite.

Battleforge on the other hand does not have enough uses of BFP for players to keep purchasing currency from farmers and card purchases will be limited to a max of 4 times. The low playerbase also makes it very easy for bans to be handed out and items to be tracked.

While I doubt real world trading will ever be encouraged, there is little one can do to stop it. In spite of that, unless the devs add a ton of insanely rare cards to the game or a bunch of bfp/card currency sinks, there won't be enough demand for a real world trading market around this game to develop.

So do you know if Multi-accounting is allowed? I dont find any specifics about it, like making 2 accounts, sending the daily bfp to your main etc.

Absolutly no go.

The moment Money flows for cards... EA will put this whole projekt down.
They don´t care if the DEVs sell Cards ord Players, they did forbid it and thats about it.

+ Do you really wan´t Pay2Win, Chinease Farmers and Multiaccount Hackers to flood the market?

"Quick message, but not about the progress on servers, but multi-accounting, cheating etc.. As you may know, we said that our anti-cheat wasn't fully operational for this open stress, and that we're going to work a lot on that before the actual open beta, but let me tell you that on their side, our logs are working and pretty fine. Any cheat attempt or multi-accounting attempt will be punished.

We started banning a few multi-accounting users already, and we'll continue doing that. Having our servers in "stress test" doesn't mean you're allowed to do this type of things, and it also doesn't mean we won't take actions. Because I can assure you, that at some point, we will watch all logs about that and take heavy measures against that, so please, be respectful with the project :D" - @InsaneHawk 14.09.2018 19:35

Iirc it was stated that buying cards with rl money is not appreciated but the devs don‘t really have any way to stop it.

No guarantees given though.

.A) buying cards for real money is forbidden, though cannot be controlled, because, obviously it is done outside of the Skylords Reborn regulations. Plus, project supposed to be Free4All and that fact states that NOONE within this project should gain ANY ammount of real-life money ANYHOW. That was a deal with EA back then.
Note that after Ardent Peak there is a bit new course

Quote
  • We ARE allowed to commercialise the game to the extent that we are allowed to gain money for the project, and this opens up quite some future opportunities.
  • We will never be making the game Pay2Win or Pay2Play.
Spoiler

"Ardent Peak" announce

Right now the patreon money goes directly to server maintenance and maybe possibly to something that'd resolve around the project itself (not our business to poke a nose into). Quote about trading from the given topic (look above, pls). Btw, you can be permabanned for just a "suggestions" of doing it... Consider that.

<...>

5. Trade Rules
As soon as trading applies, in any way or form there are five golden rules that should be followed:

  • No begging
  • No scamming
  • No public reports/blaming of the above (abide by rule 4)
  • No forum or in-game account selling
  • No transfers or suggestions of transfers, transactions, or trades involving any real-life currency, including online measures such as paypal. Trade strictly through in-game currency and/or cards on both ends of a deal.

Failing to follow the last two rules of this section will result in a permanent ban without warning or negotiation. Any violation of the other rules may result in editing or a warning. Consecutive warnings may result in account suspension or restriction of indeterminate length. The final 2 points of this section can result in permanent bans.

Note that abusing or breaking any feature with any in-game medium, specifically trading, is strictly forbidden.

<...>

.B) NO MULTIACCOUNTING. Again quoting

Quote

<...>

3.1 No Multiaccounting
Making duplicate accounts to circumvent bans, to circumvent daily reward or ELO systems, or for literally any other reason, is strictly forbidden, both on the forums as well as in-game. We do not condone making additional accounts to speed up progression, get more points, to hide your identity, or for any other reason whatsoever. Routine and automatic multiaccounting detection will be applied to prevent multiaccounting, and accounts with IP matches may be suspended. Shared or public computers are taken into account, and if you accidentally get caught by our system while you are not intending to multiaccount (e.g. have siblings/roommates/friends on the same IP or network, public PC, shared PC), feel free to contact staff in any other way (e.g. Discord, Contact Form, etc). If sufficient proof is given, we can revert your penalties. Any registrations that closely resemble multiaccounting may have all their accounts banned immediately and without warning.

MULTIACCOUNTING HAS A ZERO-TOLERANCE POLICY. IF MULTIACCOUNTING IS DETECTED, FORUM AND GAME ACCESS ON BOTH YOUR ALTERNATE ACCOUNTS AS WELL AS THE MAIN ACCOUNT YOU USE WILL BE PERMANENTLY SUSPENDED, AND YOU WILL BE UNABLE TO PLAY AGAIN.

Let it be clear that this rule is extremely important, and any infringements before 16/09/18 with no malicious intent after the Open Stress Test may be discussed by PMing me.
