Majora
Greetings Skylords, It has been a good while since we had a stream! With the introduction of seasons, modifiers, and a new campaign map, we figured now would be a great time to sit down and go a bit more in depth about the creation of our latest content, and of course answer your questions! Our Lead Game Designer Windhunter and me as Project Coordinator will go over various topics, like map design, our thoughts behind seasons, how our first season has been received, and what changes we plan to make for future seasons. While the focus of the stream will be Q&A, we will also be revealing some of the new content coming with our second season. The stream will take place on our official Twitch channel on Friday the 29th of August at 20:00 CEST. While we will also take some questions live, be sure to leave your questions below! We hope to see you there! Metagross31, Dutchy, Bini Inibitor and 5 others like this

Metagross31
I will potentially edit this post in the future to add more questions. - To what extend will PvP be incorporated into future seasons? - Thus far all new campaign maps use unique mechanics to unlock new orbs (Amii Monument on UV, hidden monuments/wells on ITJ, Crystal mechanic on HoT). Will future campaign maps contain more traditional orb spots or do you plan to have more unique orb-obtaining-mechanics? Edit 1 (2025-08-18): - What are currently the biggest technical hurdles/roadblocks in terms of things we cannot do in new map design, that you wish to overcome in the future? - If those roadblocks get solved in the future, will you incorporate some of that into the existing campaign maps (UV, ITJ, HOT)? - When the four main elements (Fire, Frost, Nature, Shadow) all had their season, will it loop around and it is fire season again or will there be other plans? Edit 2 (2025-08-20): - Do you plan to release new 4p or even 12p campaign maps in the future? Edit 3 (2025-08-27): - What are the long-term plans for new campaign maps? Will it be mostly one-offs added to existing parts of the world map or do you plan to have a sort of standalone Rebirth campaign? Edit 4 (20205-08-29): - drPvE when? Kapo
Concerning the seasons: What's the plan for the next season? If one comes directly after the other, wouldn't it be smarter to have 3-month-seasons with 1 month break, since new content inside the season unlocked in a 3-month-scheme anyway? Did you already decide on the order of seasons (fire, then frost, then... ?), and if those 4 are done what will come after that? Do you think the difficulty of the harder challenges was appropriate, without making them a chore that might suck then fun out of the game even for veteran players? And same question, but with the repeatables, isn't it some hard cut into the more casual playerbase "asking" to do dailies for months? (of course they just can't do it, but implementing an achievement means kinda "asking" players to actually do it) Concerning the map: You must have anticipated that the new map is so susceptible to shadow phoenix, was there a discussion around an already strong unit getting to eat into one more map? The friendly attacking groups seem kinda underwhelming, are there considerations to beef them up a bit to make the map solvable with more supporting playstyles like Stonekin supporting them so they actually can kill some camps? Ultralord
ATM there are around 70 Players with all Collectibles in the track, 100 Players with the Promo Sunderer and top 200 Players are at > 660 Points (with around 6 Weeks of Season left) -> Is that progress / the amount of players matching your expectations? Would you consider to switch the Unlock of new challanges from Monthly to (bi-)weekly?
Treim
I personally enjoyed the very specific challenges (e.g. Ravens End/Empire with fire + only t2+ neutral units only or rpve with only t2) way more than the "play 10 maps with/without ...." I felt like the latter type of quests mostly lead me to just complete them quickly on the ever same quick and easy maps (Encounters, Crusade, Sunbridge, Insane God, Soultree, KotG,..). I admit that is partly my own fault aswelll though. >> Do you already know what type of quests you want to add more/less in future seasons? Do you have any data on what was popular and whats not? Are there any plans for a "play the whole campaign with specific deck restrictions type quests" (maybe for Nightmare?) in the future? Vrizz
I would like to know: 1) the order of cards in queue for rework (I love so many cards were put to use - altar of nihil, shrine of memory old change to remove void return limit, fire force, global warming) - garbage turned to gold 🥇 is sick!!! 2) what are design and development plans for maps / cards / seasons / achievement and quest UI / cosmetics / more rpve factions and tweaks to existing ones? 3) any plans for new 1p maps? So far all have been multiplayer except Hot 4) I love quests and challenges to beat campaign with various weird restrictions. Playing same map 100th time is boring. Playing same map 101st time but without buildings is fresh, new, challenging, exciting and fun. Since it is conflicting with UI clarity, are there any plans (maybe even player contest) to figure sth out and not kill Ult? 😭 5) any chance to have extra buttons on cards UI (e.g. among tier/color/rarity filters) that u can bind specific filters to? So I can 'permanently' bind those !(Class name:primordial | class name:...) or copies>1? 6) many community features maps are for me close to campaign quality yet they still remain less popular due to different menu/lobby which is also not very convenient in use. Have you considered making a new place for them e.g. alternative 'map' like there is campaign? 7) are there any plans for adding more bandit cards to make t3 stronger and less relying on fire/shadow cards? 😎 how is Twilight rework or whatever its called going? 9) Are there plans/resources for more meta achievements like promo mana wing or very unique like promo WBG? More to come 😛 Edited August 18 by Vrizz

Obekidi
I have quite a bit of mixed feelings regarding the seasonal event. I have very much enjoyed the game and everything that's been put out until the fire season started. I am very grateful for the new content that is being put out and the community engagement, especially since this is a volunteer-run project. It must take a lot of time and planning to develop this content, and I am very glad that this game that I have enjoyed for so long is still receiving updates and new content. However, as someone who plays the game more casually, I have found many of the challenges to be too difficult for me. Some of them have been fun, but some have been more frustrating. A lot of the time when I finish one of them, I'm not thinking "Oh, that was fun!" but rather "I'm glad that's over, I hope I never have to do that again". I've only done two or three of the nightmare challenges (I've tried doing more of them, but they're way too hard for me). So even if I complete all of the regular challenges, I would still have to grind a bunch of the repeatable challenges to get to the end of the reward track, which doesn't seem like that much fun at all. I guess my question is, will anything be done to make the seasons more friendly for casual players, or are they supposed to be this hard? And will all new content be released through seasons? I'm really not trying to be a downer here, I truly do enjoy this game and appreciate all of the hard work that the developers and other staff put into it. But from the perspective of a casual player, I'm just not sure if these seasons are the best way of putting new content into the game. Armatores
Hey! What are your thoughts about adding more of movement speed/any attack speed buff mechanics into the game to make it more dynamic? I enjoy clearing rpve with global warming stacking on batariels but in rainbow decks you rarely want to build double fire orbs and I think it would be great to have some alternative (its very hard to find a good use for mutating maniac speed buff). Crier
Hello, how is polishing the original stuff coming along? Are there some more plans to reduce/fix tedious leftovers from the original game like the flying green brains (e.g. one of the nightmare shard maps) which have a very VERY big click-box?
Zarkray
I also think some nightmare challenges are difficult. Unfortunately, I can't play that much. I have almost 700 points doing basically normal challenges and I really would like to get the sunderer promo, but I don't know if I can by the end of the season, there's only one more normal challenge for me to complete. I Complete Agree here, i played the game quite a bit but im not really good at it the missions with timer specific stuff is way to hard in my opinion and is absolutly no fun to try 20 times just to get it almost. i would deffinitly wish that on the next season you dont have to do the stuff on expert to get to the end of the track but maybe have it that you get bonus rewards for how much points you went over the seasonpass so people who love to do stuff over and over again have something to grind for idk but the cards should deffinitly not require you to do everything on expert and with perfect times. Devilzwirn
How is the development status of rPVE Defense? I'm looking into it since it got announced and it would add a lot of new variability. 🙂 Thx, for the season. It is awesome. I can understand the feelings about hard challenges, but at the same time I love them. I like that there are hard challenges, and they are named 'nightmare', so I think it is fitting. But maybe it should be possible to get the promo card for casual gamers by just doing the standard challenges and some grind (repeatable)?! I think the nightmare challenges are not engaging because of the points, but because of the challenge itself. Maybe integrate all of them in future leaderboards (e. g. Time of all nightmare challenges combined or something like that).

You will win with me
Please don't be surprised, many of my questions are not essential for you to answer, but I've just always wondered about them. 1. Why does the login screen still say “Welcome to BattleForge” and not “Skylords Reborn” and why is the currency still called “BattleForge Points”? Are you not allowed to change that, is it technically complicated, is it for nostalgic reasons or is the answer simply “Why not?” 2. Have you ever heard anything from the original developers of the game, or do you know if any of them are aware of the game's continuation and impressive further development? 3. Is it just me, or is the time it took to complete the match no longer displayed in the post-game statistics? 4. Is it possible to optimize the deck search so that you can enter the card name and then all decks containing that card are listed? 5. Is it intentional that the colors of the first and last rank rymbols are so similar? 6. Was there ever any consideration of adding further ranks and, for example, reintroducing the golden boots as a symbol for them? 7. Why does it take so long to load the replays? Okay, I just discovered that there are 5000 replays in my replay folder, but why is it not technically possible for it to simply load the relevant replay when you want to play it? It seems as if it loads them all first (which would explain the long wait after clicking on “Replays”) and only then can you play a replay. 8. Is it technically feasible (without too much effort) to implement automatic login (after 2 seconds without interaction) in addition to the “Save password” function on the login screen? 9. We all know that it was the epitome of overpowered, but can I hope for a feature in the future that will allow us to enjoy the "Wheel of Gifts stacking bug" like we used to? 10. And as the tenth question, the tenth unimportant question: Did anyone else notice that, in addition to the new fire unit, there was already the Lost Souls Leader, which is also called “Hellhound”? - disclaimer - I would like to emphasize that I have no knowledge of programming and apologize if my questions seem too demanding. Markus34222
General 1. Have you been able to further crack the original BattleForge code, or are there still “blind spots” that limit you? 2. How close are you today to the original BattleForge code and protocol, has anything been completely rewritten? 3. Which features have been “sitting in the drawer” for a long time, and what is currently preventing their release? 4. The new units and buildings are currently based on existing 3D models from older units, buildings, or NPCs. Will it be possible in the future to create entirely new 3D models, or is this technically not feasible? 5. How do you currently assess the state of the BFP/Gold economy? Season-Related Questions 6. For future Seasons, will players have more freedom of choice? Example: deciding whether to earn more points through rPvE or Campaign maps. 7. Will it be possible to introduce community-wide challenges? Example for Fire Season: “Make Ultralord proud: as a community, play the card Spitfire 50,000 times in official matches.” 8. Could there also be a “Season Endboss Event” at the end of a Season? (for Fire Season Brannoc) 9. Regarding Season challenges like 2.9 and 5.4: will it be possible in the future to choose the faction before generating an rPvE map?
