pcre3.dll issue

Do you have an Anti Virus program? If so you have to make an exception for the installation folder so it leaves it alone.

AV often randomly triggers on Skylords, which can happen again with updates.

The Skylords launcher functions in a way that triggers some AV. But it's harmless for the user yet necessary for the game to work.

By default, the game is meant to send your login credentials to the EA server, just like every other always-online game communicates with the official server. However, EA shut down the official server, there is nothing to communicate with. And without the EA server the game cannot function at all, it's dead. In order for this project to work it needs to use a technique that "steals" the login credentials that you enter when logging in and reroutes them to the Skylords Reborn server instead of the non-existent EA server.

So to be clear, what is being taken are the login credentials that this project already has from you signing up. And those are being sent to the SR server instead of the EA server. Otherwise the game would just try and fail to connect to the dead EA server and not work.

Well I'm computer dumb.

I don't even know what White listing means.

Why is this update so special?

All the previous ones needed the same bypass right?

Seems a bit drastic to whitelist on security programs

if I don't even know what that does.

Oh balls. This is apparently not a new issue is it?

I don't understand what is being said though.

Whitelisting basically means you are telling your Anti Virus program ''hey, these files are okay, don't block them''.

As for ''why now?''We are currently investigating the issues. While Skylords has always worked this way, AV sometimes updates their protocols, suddenly flagging these files.

Our last patch also interacted with some features regarding replays in your Skylords Folder, so one theory we had is this might have triggered a AV response. Sadly, even after reverting these changes, the AV still marks the files as unsafe, so we are looking at other solutions.

Hi there,

have save issue with that pcre3.dll.
Running Win10 and Microsoft Defender. Checked out the pcre3.dll in your "Battleforge.7z" archive, no severe Wacatac(Wacatac.H!ml or Wacatac.B!ml) warning. Downloaded that pearl-dll from an DLL-Hoster also no flagging. But the updater overwrite that pcre3.dll with your new one. So, warning, quarantine - game over. And yes maybe its false flag and I have to whitelist or remove my AV, but honestly always thrusting that guy that says it's save - you're in trouble. Can you please make a roll back.

Regards

edit: I checked out that the battleforge.7z archive contains exact that original gnuwin32 pcre3.dll file from the PCRE7 library. Even the version 7.0.2632.17573 is correct. So my AV was quiet about that.
For someone who's interested you can check out here: https://www.dll-files.com/pcre3.dll.html Or of course in some GnuWin32 documentation..but I really don't understand :).
Back to topic, that file I downloaded with the update has no version number is kind of 6kb and of course has not that MD5 or SHA-1 described on that page I mentioned. Im not a programmer I'm a consumer and for me it looks kind of some Haxor-file on an official GPL file. So,huh, whats going on. I don't know how AV really works but the file integrity verification says nada. Even as I whitelisted the directory you mentioned, Defender puts that file in quarantine after I accessed it.

Our pcre3.dll is a modified DLL that enables the game connect to our server and that also enables including additional features in the original game.

It can't be rolled back.

The game NEEDS the modified DLL in order to work, so replacing with the "original" DLL won't do it.

At this point we are investigating possibilities, you can wait or add the games folder to your anti-virus exceptions.
