Frost with theyr shilds is unice themself, no other faction can get a 2nd helthbar. (from the main fractions).
in Fire, u have many high dmg speels, like no other faction have. (e.g. eruption ---> fire sphere)

i think its one of the most importent things that every faction have theyr own UNIQUE stuff.
In Nature u still have good healing, and shadow is the faction about void and playing like killing yourself.

tbh i know what ur talking about, there is a reason why high end decks looks many times similar. There is a reason why in some speedruns decomoser is used. (mostly just cause there is no room for 2 carrys) So its have to be clear that the energy from the "suport" is going to the carry player. In many speedruns (for our team) Suportplayers have a huge jop todo with speels, and guiding. Thats why i would first like to see other stuff come better playable before nearfing the most used things in this game. I rly think if we are going to change stuff about the moste using cards in this game, many many players will get "angry" and maby delet this game. There is already a little playerbase, so why make the playerbase mad with things like this?

I hope u understand my "anger" about this discussion.

I agree, most of the arguments of nerfing decomposer can be easily fixed. No real big reasons to nerf it.
  3. Sheepmonster liked a post in a topic by Soulharvester in Decomposer Rebalance *Poll*
why are ppl concentrating only on Decomposer, what will be the next card ppl will go for ? We need more questions like "will you change maps so BH cant be done as it can be done now?" then who gives a shit about decomposer if you fix the map. Pls dont change stuff 1by1, but sit down brainstorm what you wona do with maps cards and balencing.  What if developers would make a list with changes to the maps and cards they would like to make?
Always remember ppl, some bugs ended up as a final gameplay, dont remove stuff ppl like but improve upon it mybe make some more cards that when die, give others void not just you ?
You can do so much with this game pls be inovative not just listen to the ppl with small brains and no vision that see 1 card as the enemy of the game. If you ask me this Poll is meaningless and at least add 1 more to vote on "more info".

I think we have a problems with terms here. Some are speaking of speedrunning and some are speaking about speedrunning - but you mean complete different things.
I would rather call the one speedrunning and the other farmrunning or something like that. And ofc all farming tactics are based on speedrun tactics, mostly in the way that is a most easy version of the speedrun.
However, this exists in almost all games I've played, and if an instance/dungeon whatever is disarmed, then the next best farm possibility is sought. There will always be players who just want to have everything as fast as possible and fall back on such tactics.
Unfortunately, I think that the intersection with the people who scream after a short time "I've seen everything,I have everything and I need new content" is very large.(assumption of me) They have seen nothing and know as much about the game as John Snow does.
But in my experience... you can't really do anything about this, that has more to do with attitude
Btw - nothing against a bit of farming from time to time. But of course also have to smile a bit too when 3 feeders are looking for their runner

I'm quite shocked that an experienced player like you is writing nonsense like this.
Do you really think all of this restrictions are going to solve the problem? I can assure you, it's not going to solve anything, more than that, it's going to destroy the game we all love.
Another thing you are completely wrong on is that a good time is not associated with good players. There is tons of replays on YouTube how to do speed runs and yet none has ever even come close to this times.
-Take for example Encounters with Twilight, Coldmind did it in 12 min 10 fricking years ago and still less than 5 players did that time.
-Another example would be my replay of the Treasure Fleet in 15:30 on YouTube, between this time and the No1 spot at the moment is around 40 seconds, and very little difference in the strategy and yet none of the players have done it, unless I told them.
Speed running doesn't lack skill, it's just other players doing claims when they have no clue of the strategies that are being used there. All of you are comparing speed running to only 1 map: Bad Harvest.
It's very sad that I have to defend speed running every single day, otherwise it's going to be gutted for good.

The only thing that I would change in the speed running aspect, is that it would be less appealing to new players for Gold/Experience farming.

I don't mind for a poll like this, but this is not the correct way to handle it in my opinion, since there is a big noob inflation for whatever side.

    Hello Speedrun Community,
starting from January 2019 MephistoRoss kept track of the fastest speedrun times for each map. Some month ago he stopped to update the rankings and after this point the rankings were just rarely updated by members of the dev-team. Therefore i got the official approval to create a new topic with the same content that  will be updated by myself.
All matches were played on the highest difficulty (expert).

And I can also bring in here the point of view of those who are trying hard to follow the spirit of the speedrunners without really contributing creatively to this scene.
Many many of these tactics can be found, be it here in the forum, on YouTube or through personal contacts. However, as Radical said, it is necessary to look deeper into the subject. I guess that many small details of such runs are simply not understood by a large part of the players.
Especially knowledge on the subject of BG speedruns is available without end - he who seeks finds, sources see above.
And if I think of Treim's speedrun gallery, or the wonderfully commented alltime BG speedruns by @Lebovin on Youtube, just to name a few examples, then you really can't complain that people don't share them there. And if someone has put a lot of work into a completely new tactic on a map, no one can hold it against him if he first lets the other teams puzzle over how this new record came about again.
I'm a slow learner and not a bit creative, but there is more than enough knowledge online, with which you can work your way very close to the top - provided you have the will to practice a lot.
I can also understand that not everyone enjoys this style of play - of course! But then please don't complain.

I feel like you need to turn this comment into a whole thread on the forum because many non-speedrunners fail to realise that you can't just reach the top without any knowledge. I myself can admit that I lack some knowledge of the game( both map-wise and card-wise) but I atleast have basic idea of how most maps can be done on expert and that knowledge I gained mainly by the simple "trial and error" technique to find MY style of deck for the map I am trying to complete. I strongly support speedrunning though, because I have seen what it looks like, I have experienced certain speedruns, I have participated in test runs where the actual speedrunners brainstorm their strategy and openly discuss it with the rest of the participants. And if there is any way that I can help a speedrunner do a noteworthy time on a certain map, then I would do my best. As for sharing strategies/replays, since the strategies for the runs that I participated in are not mine and because the actual creators of the strategies don't want any information to be leaked then I do not intend to share how we did the runs. You better belive me when I say it, everything in this game is possible as long as you invest a lot of quality time in the game. But to the people who still want to talk trash about speedrunners, I DARE YOU to be as knowledgeable and skilled as true speedrunners are. They are allowed to write these tons of paragraphs right know because they have already spent a lot of time ingame and EVEN NOW they keep perfecting their strategies while you sit here whining that speedrunners are so secretive. How about you sit your ass down and try to learn how the game works all by yourself.
Couldn't have said it better myself, mate!

QUOTE: "When bugs like "accepting group invites causing the crash of the world server" got fixed just now, then it seems like there is still a very long way to go until the game is ready for an OB release."
ANSWER: There is a lot of context missing from those kinds of changes, because I tend to simplify and generalize those changes for the public so people can read nice changelog instead of the one few pages long, which is pointless and boring, both to write and read.

QUOTE: "The "in no time" line was already a month ago."
ANSWER: So? "in no time" is not a valid period/interval of the time itself, thus can last anywhere from 1 month to 1 year (in my point of view).

QUOTE: "I'm obviously not a programmer but to me it seems very possible that it could very well take another few months until the game is ready for an OB release. "
ANSWER: Yes, sorry for trying to make this game as bug free as possible. Rather have a stable and working game with satisfied community than unstable and crashing one with people raging for the inability of having servers up for consistent 12 hours.

QUOTE: "Statements like the above cause unnecessary hype, and when hyped up expectations can't be fulfilled there will be disappointment and ultimately hate. "
ANSWER: That statement was not intended to create any more hype, I just can't see how you got that feeling out of it.

@Cocofang Thank you for bringing a topic worth discussing to this place!
There will always be some polarity within a community, and friction between avid fans and nay-sayers but it's true that this doesn't usually extend to include dev teams. I understand that it is frustrating to be doubted and that it can be difficult to rise above that, but it really is what must be done when you are leading a community. The role as devs/mods/any other position of power is to ensure the success of the game, which is best done by creating a good atmosphere and welcoming everyone into the fold. Ok, not everyone, there are people who take things too far and whom the majority of the community would not want to see 'welcomed' but these are exceptional cases, not simply people who question things. Trolls and others who are here to destroy the experience can (should be?) excluded, but others should be brought on board and the best way to do that is to keep heads down, carry on with the job and prove your work to them.
At the end of the day, tensions are high on all sides right now: devs are tired of being questioned, a lot of the community are sick of hearing "open beta when?", and the people desperate for open beta are exhausted from the cycles of hype and disappointment. We all need to get along here and it is everybody's job to try to make that happen. Fortunately, I do think that @Cocofang is wrong on one count, I don't believe that there is an "us vs them" culture here, or indeed close by. It is, however, something we need to be aware of because at times like this it's a slippery slope into it.
As for the second point, that is a much more real issue (or as real an issue as the colour of a dot below your forum avatar can be - #1stworldproblems) as demonstrated nicely by the posts of @LeSighduck and @Cocofang above. Both perfectly well made posts expressing valid opinions in a non-inflammatory way, but both downvoted because they aren't positive. To me a discussion forum should be for exactly that, discussion. And discussions are really, really dull when everybody agrees with one another.

I am fine with no dates and I know that delays happen. Whatever happens happens, the only stake I have in this is that I would like the opportunity to play BattleForge again.
But honestly, I am getting more worried about the general atmosphere and by the fact that some devs themselves can't keep their hype in check. What's with the
in the update? Can you be more polarizing? I understand that there is passion behind the project but it just goes off the far end. People take this whole thing way too personal. And inflammatory swipes like this aren't helping anyone. Neither do I think the heartfelt apologies are having the intended effect. I would mainly just aim for a lower profile, keep it interactive and transparent but don't go overboard either way.
What kind of community do you want to foster? I see it steering towards "Us VS Them". Just a hostile environment with angry mobs that attack anyone that dares voice doubts. Do not get your ego involved. Technical issues can be resolves easier than a broken community. And let's not forget that a BIG focus should be on a welcoming and friendly community as it will most likely be relatively small and needs every active member it can get.
On a related note, the up- and down-vote system does not help it either. It discourages voicing controversial statements because of the possible retribution of red pixels and encourages just preaching with the choir creating an echo-chamber and generally a more volatile environment for discussion. Especially since it is not anonymous. It also just brands people that may have had one post that others didn't like among other neutral ones to the point where creating a new account is easier than trying to get positive standing again.
Again, at this point I am less worried about the state of the game than the state of the community from top to bottom and where it could be headed.

Frankly, the fact that this decision was delayed is the most disappointing thing here. F**k the hype train: don't make promises you can't keep; it's really that simple. We're all perfectly willing to wait and have been for many years. But because it has been such a long time, any promises you make aren't going to build into hype, they're going to be instant hype bombs with just as severe disappointment if you can't deliver. Respect that we're going to be ecstatic about release entirely regardless of when that happens as long as you deliver. And if you don't think the few of us who've been chatting and lurking here for years aren't going to tell literally everyone we know that BattleForge is back, you're sorely mistaken. So forget about us. Forget about hype. Forget about community management or transparency and all your bullshit excuses. Just deliver.
  20. Sheepmonster liked a post in a topic by Slon in Important: Open Beta Status Announcement
As i see most people don't whine about a late release, but more about passed deadline just like this:
Hoenstly, i expected the first deadline to drop, because that's how projects work :). But now i got disappointed that they could not deliver. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate what they are doing and i know they are no big company and don't earn money an bla bla, but if I see them make a mistake i feel free to say it. Letting a deadline pass hurts the community and even more the deveopers, thus the project. Of course setting a date pushes your productivity beyond limits, but it's just not worth it in my opinion.

Thank you for the update, i am not mad, just disappointed...
If the game is not ready to be released for the public, it is understandable and acceptable, but making promises and then failing them is something else. If You are not sure about the release date then better not to say anything about it, because this way I believe I'm talking in others' name as well when I say we are just losing hope...
I still support the project and still can say I can hardly wait for it - we could say I'm part of the #f5sect if you know what I mean -, so heads up and don't worry about the time you need to fix it, just don't make false statements...
