For what it's worth, I've introduced half a dozen completely new players to the game, and they all gravitated towards playing only PvP after a few co-op campaign games.
None of them would be able to play PvP so soon without the free decks, so I am 100% against removing them as I firmly believe it would do more harm than good. Losing new players because they can't play a preferred game mode without first grinding for hundreds of hours doesn't seem right, does it?
But, including something like a fee to rent the decks, like some have suggested here, wouldn't be such a bad idea. Then you don't really "own" the deck or cards, so I'd support that.
Having different PvP streams, like ranked with free decks & ranked without free decks does not seem to be a good solution with a small playerbase. At that point, it looks like the Tomes game mode from the original game, and we know from experience this mode failed.

Yeah thx ill keep the endless defence in mind for when i finished other projects. @RuneSeeker  i know the 1pl map of Kaldra. Name is "survive". At the moment we are allready working on a defencive rpve mode as u suggested @Danol
    Kind regards

This is so amazing. Thank you all so much for allowing the community to be even more involved in the amazing work you all have done.
With this I can finally expand my project and create the site that I envisioned. Again, thanks so much!

It's very unfortunate that many cards just don't have any use in RPVE. Most of them are defensive cards, like Razorleaf, Stronghold and the like, but also some very slow units like Battleship. This is mostly because these Units/Buildings are stationary, slow or mostly geared towards defense, while RPVE is all about offense.
To counter this, I suggest adding a new RPVE-Mode where you have to mostly defend youself against waves of enemies, unlocking access to new orbs and generators by defeating boss waves.
I know that this is hardly a priority so short after launch and that it will be a ton of work (map generation, scripting, testing ...), so I don't expect to see anything like this for the next months, but I do think it would be worthwhile to add variety to RPVE in the long run.

You could if you want an all-around tower that does everything at t3. Paired with a skyelf sage, it's pretty good! Worldbreaker gun will still be your best tower at t4.
I'd also recommend getting a Construct, as they can be used both offensively and defensively.

    Hey @delcarm
For defensive play, I'd recommend grabbing skyelf templar for building heals in t2, and kobold engineer for stronger repairs in t3.
Worldbreaker gun with a skyelf sage is amazing, and does an absurd amount of damage. Try it out!
You could also pickup defenders to have a stronger unit on walls, who will do more damage to L-sized units which are your only threats aside from XL-units.
A fun strategy would be to use White Rangers if you have only 1 chokepoint to defend, because their ability lasts forever and does AoE damage.
If you want, you can experiment with adding 1 nature orb for crowd control, breeding grounds, and some long-range towers like hammerfall.
    Cheers!

I mean, you can still grind? But now you can also play (2) decks while you wait
And so you are not at a disadvantage vs someone just because you didn't grind enough, and newcomers can get directly into PvP without having to grind their way around.
There are still many cards missing that can't capture every possible deck combo; I probably play 3-5 pvp decks every day, and many times I change out another 4-5 cards each deck depending on how I'm feeling
The free decks give dedicated pvp players access to pvp with no barrier except if they want certain tech cards. Anyone interested in grinding for pve must still use the regular, unupgraded cards.

    Greetings Skylords, Skyladies and Skyfolk,
We are about one week away from release and with that we would like to share our schedule and plans around release. This way you know what to expect.

December 16, 2020: We will reset everyone's progression in preparation for the reset on actual release day. This allows us to make sure our systems work properly after a reset and to potentially fix any remaining issues that could be caused by resetting the progression of all our players. A progression reset means you will lose your gold, BFP, cards, boosters, PvE and PvP ranks, friends lists, auctions etc.  Both the main server and the test server will stay online and you can continue to play the game. Any in-game items gained after this initial progression reset will not be carried over after release.

December 17, 2020: The main server will be closed until release. This will give us time to prepare the server for release and to fix any potential issues found with the reset from the previous day. During this downtime everyone's progression will be reset for release and you will be asked to create a new in-game character when you login for the first time after release. You do not need to create a new account for release and can login with your current account after release. The test server will still be open throughout the release period. The server will likely be closed in the evening (UTC).

December 18, 2020: Release date. This is the day we will put the servers online again and is the day you can join and start playing again with a fresh start. After this day there will be no more resets so you can play/grind all you want. Depending on how drastically the player base suddenly increases, we might have to resort to putting a limit on the number of people allowed on the server at a time. Our current server is very performant and should be able to handle a lot more players than it currently is, so even though we don't expect to need to do this, you never know. There will also be a countdown livestream on our twitch channel https://www.twitch.tv/skylordsreborn, after which we will open the servers again. The release will likely happen in the afternoon (UTC).

We hope everything is clear. If you have any remaining questions feel free to ask them and we will update this post accordingly.
Have fun playing and hope everyone is looking forward for release!

    - Skylords Reborn

  12. RuneSeeker liked a post in a topic by Weak1ings in Skylord's Edition Rarity Seal Concept Art
I was curious what the rarity seal for a card introduced to the game would look like so I started drafting up a concept of what I thought it'd look like and found my work good enough to share:

I chose a Phoenix-type bird because it is kind of representative of this project; bringing something back from the dead a little like a Phoenix but considering all the work our glorious devs have done, gears might be more representative as it didn't come back on its own and took many years of hard work to create.
    Anyways Here's a question:
Is there already a planned seal and could I view it somewhere?

    About said image:
Everything is original except for the bird and as such is not completely my own work in this iteration. I am willing to design something and the process to implant it on this image is rather simple but something like that was outside the scope of my original scope at the time. (will be linked in spoiler) It seems rarity colors are affected by a Hue excluding Twilight Edition in which there are four different seals.

  13. Ampo liked a post in a topic by RuneSeeker in Booster discount - no reset until activated
Currently, if a player plays 45 minutes and gets a booster discount, but does not activate it on that day, then the next day they are reset back to zero.
Is it possible to keep the discount active until the player claims it, even if it is not the same day? This way, if someone forgets to buy a booster after a long play session, they still have the opportunity for their earned discount. May help a lot of new players with not getting penalized for forgetting to buy a booster on the same day.
  14. RuneSeeker liked a post in a topic by Zyna in Introducing ... empty, our new Developer!
    Greetings Skylords, Skyladies, and Skyfolks!

With the release just around the corner, I'm excited to announce that a new developer is joining our team!
Our new developer is @mtmt, who is also known as _empty_ ingame. He has been helping us out for the last 2 months already, so him officially joining the team is long overdue. He's been working on an installer application for Skylords Reborn, which will hopefully ease the installation process for the less technical users.
He will also be helping the development team out in various other internal projects, so we're glad to have his help!

    Best Regards, Zyna.

I'm only looking at 1v1s right now. I might do 2v2s later on if the content is popular
Edit: regarding quality... I don't need top tier players, but for lower level games they at least need to be interesting to watch. I'm going to have trouble dissecting mistakes for a while until I get more comfortable with the game again.
  16. waywardstrategy liked a post in a topic by RuneSeeker in Looking for competitive 1v1 replays in order to do gameplay commentary
Hey, I can send you some. Questions: Are you looking for only 1v1s at this time, or can also do 2v2/3v3 replays?
And, do you need the players to be very good (few mistakes), or are okay with players making some mistakes and not playing optimally (not in the ranked top-20)?
  17. RuneSeeker liked a post in a topic by Zyna in Rule updates and permaban policy revision
    Greetings Skylords, Skyladies, and Skyfolks,
with each day we're moving closer and closer to the long awaited release!
In lights of that, we decided to revise our zero-tolerance policy for multi-accounting and cheating. If you broke the rules against 'Cheating' or 'Multi-Accounting' during the open stress test, you might have had the pleasure to experience our zero-tolerance policy! Every Skylord who broke the aforementioned rules was given a permanent lifetime ban. Meaning they were not allowed to play the game at all anymore.
Moving forward, we have decided to be a little less strict in that regard. From now on we'll not be handing out permanent lifetime bans anymore on first offense. Instead, players who break these rules will receive a progression reset and temporary ban on their first offense, and then a lifetime ban on any futher offenses. A progression reset means that all your Experience, BFP, Gold, Cards, Upgrades, etc. will be reset.
Additionally, we have decided to give a all of the players who tested their luck and managed to get themselves permanently banned during the open stress test a final chance. You will no longer be living in the shadows of the forge - you will be allowed to play again, but beware! This is your last and final chance, so please make sure to follow our rules, otherwise you might find yourself in Batariel's grasp again!
You will be able to ask for a second chance on our discord by contacting the SR Staff Mail! Please make sure to include your forum name and the reason why you were banned. If you think you were rude towards anyone in the moderation team in the past: also feel free to include an apology.

    Best regards, Zyna.

    Rules!
-No bugabuse, cheating or insulting the other players. Penalties may vary from a warning to default loss.
-Disconnection during a game results in a default loss. If both sides agree it is possible to have a remake.
-Not showing up to your match after 15 minutes results in a default loss. The plan is to play a round of matches every ~30 mins.
-After your match, go to Challonge and insert the result. That is done by clicking on your match and selecting the winner/stats . The brackets will be updated automatically.
-The Map Pool is: Haladur, Simai, Wazhai, Elyon, Lajesh, Uro and Yrmia (same pool as in ranked duel). The first match of the round will be played on Haladur, then it is losers choice. Second round will start with Simai, third one... you get the drill. The winning player (who won the last match in this bo3) also has to lock in his deck first.
-The brackets for the tournament will be shuffled before the tournament starts.
-Since we play on the TESTSERVER, no cards are banned.

Reply in this thread if you have questions, I will check it out later.
We came a long way in ~20 tournaments in the Open Stress Test and since all good things come to an end....Let us celebrate the start of a new Battleforge era with the last tournament before we go into the full release.

  19. RuneSeeker liked a post in a topic by Mynoduesp in PvE Contest: The Nightmare Shard
@LEBOVIN When you make videos for the next Community Challenge I recommend to talk to the top guys first and ask them what the difficulties were and how they solved them. On a random map like Twilight Shard there are choices made which are not apparent in a single playthrough. As example there's a random change a Twilight Bug heads to the shard at around 1:50. Ignoring the bug will result in a loss if the walls are not defended, that's why two nomades are taking the top route in my playthrough. I think sidenotes like these would add something extra to the replay commentary which already includes sidenotes for the map in general.
I like the videos in general though.

  21. RuneSeeker liked a post in a topic by Ladadoos in New quests and quest pools update!
What RuneSeeker said. Another option that we have is to make the random chosen map as equal as possible for all players for a a given quest, instead of choosing it random per player. So during a certain week, if someone gets the quest "Play map X on difficulty Y", we can make everyone have the same map for that quest (as much as possible, because not everyone has all the maps unlocked). This map would then change every week or few days.

You'll see a lot less players in the game until the reset happens on December 18th. You'll have an easier time finding people to play after Dec 18.

    Shouldn't be too bad
The more I think about it the more I want to start working on one (and to be honest, this modifier feature)

What about the player starts with a random deck? Not completely random of course, but a random deck that satisfies a few conditions to make it playable.

@Yuah I really like this idea. I also think this is not too hard to implement. Maybe we can collect some ideas here for potential modifiers.
