We consider the collection PvP mode to be optional and are not looking to incentivize players for playing it rather than the unlimited mode. We do plan to add more incentives to encourage playing PvP in general this year (e.g. ranked seasons with rewards at the end).

Honestly, this sums up the fact that the people have clearly voted with their interests on the whole free pvp decks/collection debate.

  6. RuneSeeker liked a post in a topic by Torban in Players don't want to play Collection PvP
It's time to give up pointless collection pvp and stop trying to pressure the devs to force people to play a terrible mode no one plays for a reason. There just isn't a place for it and it's not worth development time as proven by it's failed addition.
  7. RuneSeeker liked a post in a topic by Tweeto in New Amii Units Artwork (Sorceress DONE)
yo guys, i saw around here the developers mention they currently only able to reskin current models in order to make new units.
so i was thinking about it and actually most of the factions have similar models already, with maybe minor differences but generally most of them change the texture and call it a new unit.
with that said i took upon my self a little project to try and design new Amii cards that can be made in game with only changing textures hopefully that could give the devs some direction.

ill keep updating this Topic as i get more progress, so let me know what you guys think
for now here is the first sketches of an Amii Sorceress card art based on the fire dancer/frost sorceress model
btw if you have better name im all ear lol, was thinking either Amii Sorceress or Night dancer, but they sound generic af :\

    Done!!

    Rules!
-No bugabuse, cheating or insulting the other players. Penalties may vary from a warning to default loss.
-Disconnection during a game results in a default loss. If both sides agree it is possible to have a remake.
-Not showing up to your match after 15 minutes results in a default loss. The plan is to play a round of matches every ~30 mins.
-After your match, go to Challonge and insert the result. That is done by clicking on your match and selecting the winner/stats . The brackets will be updated automatically.
    -The Map Pool is:
1st round: Haladur, 2nd round: Simai, 3rd round: Wazhai, 4th: Elyon, 5th: Lajesh, 6th: Uro and 7th: Yrmia (same pool as in ranked duel). The first match of the round will be played on the fixed map, then it is losers choice.  The winning player (who won the last match in this bo3) also has to lock in his deck first.
-The brackets for the tournament will be shuffled before the tournament starts.
-Use your Battleforge name for the tournament. If your Challonge account differs from your Battleforge account name use the "Sign up with an alternate name" feature or change your name for the tournament in the settings. Finding your opponent will be a LOT easier this way.

  9. WindHunter liked a post in a topic by RuneSeeker in free pvp decks maximum number of a player can use them.
We've seen this topic appear from time to time, but I honestly don't think anything will satisfy players who don't like free PvP decks other than good intentions that will destroy the gamemode. I know all the new players I invited to the game would stop playing PvP if they had to grind 10's of hours in PvE first, and I know many others share the same view. It's honestly not a huge community, and PvP can realistically become unplayable with too few players.
I don't think it is productive to tell the entire PvP community how to best play the gamemode they can already enjoy with no restrictions. Everyone is on the same skill level now, there is no more pay-2-win, and there are even balance updates. Life is good.
Plus, the more you play PvP, the more you want to experiment with new strats, adapt to the meta, which leads you to buy and upgrade new cards. It's just a different grind cycle than PvE, which does not depend on fully upgraded decks to be balanced.

Likely our biggest and only form of advertisement for now will be contacting youtubers, magazines, streamers etc. to write or talk about our project, or even better to play and share that experience with others. The open stress phase was very useful to fix prominent bugs, but now we need to also first make sure our servers still work properly when there are many more players online. Since release me and zyna have already fixed a couple of issues that were not easily detectable with lower player base. The servers are handling it very well and release could almost not have gone better, but we just want to make sure that any possible issues due to the increase in players are fixed first before we start actively advertising using the previously mentioned methods.
  14. Ampo liked a post in a topic by RuneSeeker in Booster discount - no reset until activated
Currently, if a player plays 45 minutes and gets a booster discount, but does not activate it on that day, then the next day they are reset back to zero.
Is it possible to keep the discount active until the player claims it, even if it is not the same day? This way, if someone forgets to buy a booster after a long play session, they still have the opportunity for their earned discount. May help a lot of new players with not getting penalized for forgetting to buy a booster on the same day.
  15. RuneSeeker liked a post in a topic by Zyna in Unlimited VS Collection PvP
It was our goal to make PvP accessible from the start without forcing players to grind for cards and upgrades. If you are satisfied with only having two decks in PvP, then yes, you do not need any more cards next to the free PvP decks.
Let's say it's the year 2022. The game has been out for a year and plenty of people have been playing for a while now. A lot of them have multiple level 120 collection decks. Now, let's suppose you are a new player who exclusively wants to play the PvP mode. What sounds more appealing:
    1. Constantly losing against other players because they have a high level deck and you have a low level deck, while completely ignoring any skill differences.
    2. Having the same high level deck as all other players and have the skill difference actually be the decider of the match.
I'd argue the first option will essentially lead to a PvP environment, which will be unwelcoming for all new players. Everyone will be forced to grind PvE or play sparring before they have a reasonable deck. Considering sparring PvP only grants one third of the ranked PvP rewards due to it's potential for abuse, grinding PvE will be the only reasonable option again. In this scenario, does the first option really sound that much more appealing to you than the second option? To me it surely doesn't. PvP will end up with a dead player base after 1-2 years since new players will have a very hard time getting into it.

  16. RuneSeeker liked a post in a topic by Fraxure022 in Unlimited VS Collection PvP
One of the most critical elements of PvP is having people to play against. The removal of free PvP decks would nuke the population of ranked PvP players. Age of Empires Online learned this same lesson; its PvP scene was virtually non-existent until the introduction of Champion Mode, which removed the disparity between players who grinded out gear and those who hadn’t.

This is one of those things that sounds logical to certain people, but it ignores the facts of human psychology. If I, or almost any other player, find ranked PvP frustrating because it is determined by deck level and not by skill, we’re not going to go out and grind for a PvP deck. We’re just going to not play PvP. If we aren’t playing PvP, queue times will increase, which will further lead to player loss for PvP as people who are less willing to spend their limited playtime in a queue quit PvP as well. If we aren’t playing PvP, eventually neither are you, because you run out of players.

This isn’t about rewarding or not rewarding you for grinding out a deck. This is about ensuring you have players to play against with that deck you spent all that time grinding out. History has shown, every time, that allowing for benefits earned outside of the PvP match being played to impact the outcome of the PvP match, in any game, is unpopular and leads to decreased PvP participation. The majority of PvP gamers want PvP to reflect their skill, so even if you disagree with that, it behooves you to enable it, because it gives you people to play with. That’s why nearly every other MMO has moved to equalize stats in PvP and reduced the impact gear has on it. To paraphrase  Metagross, “you think you want this, but you really, really do not”.
  17. RuneSeeker liked a post in a topic by Metagross31 in Unlimited VS Collection PvP
Guess why? It's because the mayority of people want that change.
To quote Blizzard's devs: "You think you do, but you don't."
Without the decks pvp will suck. And people wont play it. Include top lvl people. An this will make it suck even more. See something?

    Greetings Skylords, Skyladies, and Skyfolks!

We are happy to announce that @Maze has joined our team as a web developer. He has demonstrated to have time, knowledge and interest in the project, especially with the card price tracking website and card price notification bot he has been developing. For now he will be working with @freund17 on new tools and services, more prominently internal moderation tools. That being said, he has shown interest in other areas such as Data Analysis, which can for example become very useful to analyze the effect of balance changes in the future.

Still loving the Free PvP Decks.
Was playing with some friends earlier, they've made new accounts recently but they were able to pick up a deck instantly and 1v1 2v2 together and pick up on old strategies.
I also like to introduce actual new friends to PvP without theorycrafting a deck first, but having something to play with.
Not to mention the ability for ANYONE to compete in a tournament
  20. RuneSeeker liked a post in a topic by Dallarian in Expert Campaign - Missions Briefing - Among the Old Gods achievement
    Fellow Skylords and Cute Beings,
As second person to ever complete “Among the Old Gods” achievement in Battleforge, I started using title “The Old God of Battleships”. As we learn from King of the World himself, best way of starting a cult is being friendly and helpful. Therefore I wish you will enjoy this read, aimed at providing you with both comprehensive and powerful knowledge.

    Introduction

The thread is aimed at players who struggle with Among the Old Gods. In order to complete the achievement, you have to win all campaign missions on expert difficulty. You will be rewarded generously in 8 General Boosters. Many maps have different exploits and tricks that may make the map trivial – however, as they feel unfair, require particular cards and may be removed by developers, they are not covered here.
Deck choice usually is irrelevant when it comes to expert difficulty. The important aspect is to specialise your deck for each map, and prepare it for particular threats you may encounter. On my first playthrough I have completed the campaign with  Pure Frost deck, as it is my favourite faction. It was before first balance patch, so back then all factions were weaker and had lower amount of viable cards. Pure Fire still may struggle with the achievement, nonetheless, overall you should be able to finish the campaign with your favourite PvE faction. There is no need to sacrifice fun for playing meta, as there is no “the only correct way” – the only limits are in your head.

    Approach is important
Expert is not meant to be easy.
    Try, lose, improve.
This is how humans become better – by making mistakes and learning from them. Thanks to the guide, you can learn on my mistakes and significantly decrease amount of necessary tries to complete the achievement. Pay attention to which enemies you will face, what is their position, weak points and how to exploit the situation. Check map topography to quickly reach Power Wells and intercept enemy attacks. Learn attack timings and understand triggers. [1] Be prepared and do not leave anything to a chance. You will come across problems – enemy attack too strong to deal with, restricted access to cards or monuments, mechanics that doesn’t work like you expected.

[1]. Trigger is a condition that starts a particular event. For example in Behind Enemy Lines if you destroy any of spawners that are nearby your Tier 2 locations, enemy waves will become significantly stronger and use specialised units. Keeping spawners alive allows you to explore the map and prepare defence in a more relieved way.

    Explore. Adapt. Overcome.
There are many cards in Battleforge that are neglected and overlooked, as they are not as flexible as the most popular choices. If someone told me I would be using Icefang Raptor to complete Ocean, or pre-rework Sunken Temple to win Soultree with Pure Nature, I would laugh, as those cards seemed worthless to me. I was wrong, niche cards are awesome in niche situations. When you will start looking for solutions, you will notice those little gems in your collection.
If you are looking for something cheap and solid, you may want to check @Weak1ings ‘s deck, as he was the first person to complete Among the Old Gods, he used an affordable flexible meta deck.

    Weak1ings' deck:

Make sure to use what you already have to forge your path to victory, possibly in an unique way. Amii Monument may make many missions easier – however, it is easy to get lazy because of it, and majority of maps are difficult due to situations that happen before you reach Tier 3.

  21. RuneSeeker liked a post in a topic by Dallarian in Battleship - on speed and shield change
    Shield is absolutely powerful now!
Winter Witch has been redesigned as well, making it a very powerful support unit - and not as expensive as before. Combine those two and you'll have a great combo.
As far as I remember, with Age of Ice you can have total length of shield around 60-90 seconds, pretty decent and you can easily recast it with Winter Witch. I was using Battleship on Dwarven Riddle on Adv already to carry others (in slow mode), and Area Ice Shield is almost always in my deck, so it is a great improvement to me.

Feel free to try those changes on Testing Server. Shrine of Martyr gets redesign and is very powerful as well.
Howver, I like your "out of combat" mechanics - but it will be very problematic on Campaign maps to quickly pass by enemy towers if you're going to specified location (imagine forgetting about one anti air turret around). Putting shield mechanics still is a powerful buff.

Want to throw my support here too. Or even changing the window from 5 to 10 minutes would help, as a 10 minute window is much easier to handle any irl mini-emergencies.
  23. RuneSeeker liked a post in a topic by Cocofang in Too much grinding
I mean, collecting cards is the entire point of the game. The difference is you can't throw money at progression anymore.
They have to dissect the pay2win aspect somehow and replace it with progression. It's literally the first day, I don't think any arguments about slow progression hold much weight right now. Give it a week or two, you can buy a booster a day and safe BFP on the side too.
  24. RuneSeeker liked a post in a topic by WindHunter in remove autokick if inactive (after 45minute daily quests)
It would be nice if they could implement an inactivity check instead of kicking you. As in, if you are AFK for more than 5 consecutive minutes, you forfeit any achievement or BFP rewards but retain your gold/upgrade rewards as well as level progression.

The site is temporarily going to display no price data, as there is too much data for the site to load, I will work on a workaround today. Also, no data will be lost!
Apart from that I put together a temporary API with parts of the data that I use on my site. Note that the structure and the contents are only temporary and subject to change!
If you are interested, you can find the API here:     https://smj.herokuapp.com/api/temporary

Edit: Despite what I said, some data was lost, not because of was I was working on (which isn't finished yet, so please be patient), but because the device that runs the script to write the data from the auction API to my database froze and I didn't realize it for a few hours... I will try find a better solution and put in some backup scripts, so that this hopefully won't happen again...
