  1. Erm . . . I don't think I would be remiss in claiming to be better than FarRock... or was that a joke? Yeah, that's why I just mentioned LagOps as "One" of the best bandits. Equivalent to honorable mention, except nobody to actually take the spotlight. What was cdkillroy's main? Were any of those guys primarily pure fire (and I'd say 80% counts 1v1, 20% counts 2v2). Yeah, I know you and MaranV have nothing in common. Still play the same faction though Your 5 common cards... surge of light, roots, hurricane, burrower, curse of oink, stone shards, homesoil, ice barrier...wait that's more than 5...for sure SoL, roots, burrower, oink, stone shards.
  2. So we've debated for a long time who the best player of all time was. But who was the best player for each faction (only considering the current metagame)? This way we're comparing apples to apples. It would also be nice if you guys just listed people who were among the best at each faction (so I know who to ask for help on what section of my guide). To start, I'll propose MaranV as the best stonekin player (with honorable mention to xAragornx) xHighTech as the best twilight player (honorable mention to myself and FarRock) Freemka as the best pure frost player (honorable mention to Morathyls). Dekka as the best pure nature player (honorable mention to beijinguy) TBPeti as the best shadow nature player. xTakerx as one of the best pure fire players. Matos as one of the best pure shadow players. LagOps as one of the best bandit players. Hirooo and CDKillroy as some of the best players in general (did CD main a deck? I don't think Hirooo did) RadicalX as one of the best lost souls players. Who else? Or do you think someone else deserves the title of the best of a particular faction?
  3. Anyone want to reformat these images so we can see them in the new forum? @Mental Omega?
  4. No, it's more complicated than that. XL units' damage statistic isn't over 20 seconds either, which makes it even harder to tell. Generally the easiest way to do it (quickly) is to just memorize things. If you want to know if a ranged attack will kill in one shot (more practical), the card will always list in the description how much damage is done per shot, and the frequency of shots. Damage is not done in one second though If two of the same units are attacking each other, one usually wins unless they are XL or ranged. For instance, in a 1v1 scavenger vs dreacharger (which doesn't happen), the unit that attacks first wins. The unit that attacks first depends one where the animation of each card is in the running cycle and can be manipulated, but it never is because nobody just spawns one dreadcharger or one scavenger to fight. Occassionally, however, the technique is useful when you're trying to rush t2. For instance if I have a scav and my opponent has a dreacharger and I want to go t2, I will attack his dreadcharger and try to micro such that my unit hits first. If it does, he'll need to spawn a forsaken to kill my scavenger (if he doesn't I will be left with about 5 health in the end, which I can heal up and use to harass him later, still provoking a power expenditure). In a real fight I would summon sunstrider or thugs to kill the forsaken (or erupt) but in this scenario all I really wanted was for him to spend an extra 50 power on t1 so that I can go t2 a smidgen earlier.
  5. There were some PvP maps that could be Live. Haldur was the most notable. Idk aout any 2v2 maps though, and I don'k think there were for PvE. Live or not though, it's pretty much the same....
  6. Continuing my guide . . . a few thousand words at a time . . .

  7. I must not have seen them. Oh, you mean those 7 or so vids by Phenomic? I saw them but I sort of felt they were a waste of time. It looked very cheesy and didn't include much actually useful information. I'd be happy to include them if you think I should though.

    Fire/Frost deck

Yeah, I think rageclaws would be a good addition. The problem with removing eruption is that it's very good anti-air. You might be able to get away with dropping it and using stomrsinger instead of glady because the lightblade does L counter, but there are ways around stormsinger for your opponent. I'd also suggest against shield building--even rally banner is more useful to drop ready tremors in t3.

    Fire/Frost deck

homesoil? And I'd rather drop the stormsinger for gladiatrix. There are probably more useful cards than lightblade also... And I think that's 21 cards? For your t1, I think you will have a lot of trouble against nature w/o mortar. Possibly frost as well. I tried a fire-frost deck once and I went t1 frost because sorceress/shield building, lightblade, homesoil, ice barrier, and frostbite were all very useful in t2, meaning I was only "wasting" 2-3 cards in t1. I never actually played fire-frost though, so I'm just making predictions about these things.
  10. I'm in for 1v1 and 2v2. Just to clarify, we can't use tome cards? And I suppose no upgrades at all? Not even like a U1 surge of light? Also what time will the tournament be? Times that are convenient for the majority of BF are rarely convenient for me.
  11. Yeah, definitely a common choice. NC has swift though, which is usually fast enough to reach the dancers with building repairs. Many LS players much prefer to use that deck slot for some lame t3 card though I'm trying to be as careful as possible with the word "must," because I don't want people to think that they have no options on certain cards. Like, scavenger or forsaken are a must, but there aren't so many cards that you have no choice but to play.
  12. I thought shad-frost used a reaver or nightcrawler to reach the dancers while kobold or glacier shell on the well? AoC also works, doesn't it?
  13. Thank you for the comments! I shall make note of these when I get around to those factions. I'm a bit stalled out right now because I don't have access to allbfcards, but I hope to continue this when that gets back on the site. I'm not sure if shadow phoenix is essential with lost souls though. I knew lots of players that didn't use them.
  14. +1 Very good suggestion, esp about the page on the website. After we get a good bit of guides done we should see if the dev's would let us put them somewhere on the website in pdf form.
  15. I thought there was a reference to the forums in BF? But it wasn't very prominent. I totally agree with these though, if we can't link the forum and in-game accounts. Big, bold advertisements and mentions on hints of the day. Here's another idea: You remember how we got Lord Cyrian for playing Lord of Ultima, and then getting that code and typing it in to the marketplace (that's how we got it, right?)? What if we made incentives like that on the forum. When you create a forum account you get a minor reward (if the changed starting cards aren't implemented, this could be a good way to get those fire and shadow t1 cards to people--or maybe even just give Lord Cyrian), and maybe you get a free booster when you get a certain rank (not too high so people don't spam, but high enough that someone would be familiar with the forums...maybe 50 or 100 posts). Rather than directly linking that to the account, you could get a code which you type in to claim your reward.
  16. The first time I played BF, I wasn't active in the forums at all. I didn't even realize it existed/it was important. I think the best way to help new players is to make the forums an essential/important part of the game...for instance, I heard that our forum accounts would be linked to our in-game accounts and that BFP would be distributed through our forum accounts. If that's true, I think that would go a long way towards solving this problem. That way when the new player is already on the forum, he might check some things out by curiosity and find a guide (I made a thread with a list of all the guides on it...if that gets stickied it will make it even easier for new players to see what guides are available). Yeah, when someone in game asks for help you should help him, but I'm pretty sure we did that anyway. The BF community was really nice. I think a better tutorial might help, but that won't change at least for a while. Even if we make videos, the number of new people that will see it will be very low, unless they are all directed there (like from a thread with a list of all the useful guides on it). In reality though,I don't think it's the lack of skill that hurts the NPE. I think it has to do with the fact that they feel such a disadvantage in cards when they face other players. The two ways to help this would be to make the starting cards better (see here for my discussion about that: http://forum.bfreborn.com/index.php?/topic/653-starting-cards/) or if we allow the option to rent cards (again, not going to go into detail about that but you can check it out here: http://forum.bfreborn.com/index.php?/topic/833-renting-cards/) But as far as helping new player skill increase (which I don't think is that big a deal because I don't think most noobs mind being bad), the best guide in the world will not help the player who doesn't read it. The trick is just making new players encounter guides by force (like, somewhere they see it and have the option to click on it), whether that be a link in the game itself (I don't think that works) or just making the use of forums mandatory (or beneficial--even if the accounts aren't linked, maybe you can get tokens or bfp any time a post gets a like or something to just encourage users to visit the forums). The theory is that once the new player is here, he'll peruse guides out of curiosity. Just like the game itself, it wasn't the lack of quality guides that prevented player from improving, but rather the lack of advertisement for those guides. In the title.... is says NPE is New Player Experience.....
  17. Moved. @WotdeFack I'll just keep updating it until it get stickied
  18. It's already on there I put it under PvP general beginner guides, but I think I should organize it better.... maybe just put it under "other gameplay?" Or should I make a new category....
  19. @WotdeFack and @XxAndroidxX have requested a nature and shadow t1 guide. Does anyone want to make one? From the players I knew, I think dekka or beijinguy would be the best for nature, and TBPeti for shadow. I don't know if they have the time or inclination to do it though, so this is an open call for guides in those areas. In the future, this should be the thread where you request guides.
  20. Added this to my guide navigation thread. Good job!
  21. I agree with this statement so much. Remind me to quote this somewhere in my guide. @LagOps, how would you characterize the bandit deck as far as the metagame goes? Like pure fire is about aggression, stonekin is patient strangulation, pure frost is about the one-hit-wonder war eagle, etc. I'm trying to fill out the metagames for the different factions in my guide, but I don't know much about bandits. If it's alright, I'll PM you what I have? Supposing you have 100-200 bfp to spend on a bandits deck, what would you take? And would it be playable?
