    Fellow Skylords,
I have recieved a lot of entries! Here some important pointers:
    * If you posted your entry just here on the forum thread, this DOES NOT count as an submission - those are ment to be sent via a DM. It is enough to drop me a note "please take my entry from the forums", then I collect it from here.
    * Some of you forgot to use the template. I dopped you a note with a copy of it, to complete your submissions.
    * Only 3 days to go! 😃

Also, at this point I collected all valid submissions that I recieved until now. If everything worked out properly, you should have recieved a message that looks something like this:

As soon as the number of submissions crosses a certain threshold, its easy to overlook an entry. If you didnt recieve such a message, your submission could have been lost in the Inter-Nether. Please contact me, so we get this done in time 😃

    Name: Shrink
    Tier & Orbs: T1 Nature
    Type: Spell (utility)
    Power: 60

Spell Effect: Miniature Warfare - Curse target hostile squad or unit within 'x' metres in a way that they go down one unit size for the next 30 seconds.
Target(s) under the effect of Shrink cannot be cursed again.

Explanation: I think a spell like this fits the color perfectly. It's a fun way to engage with units (in both pvp and pve) in a way like never before.
I don't know about the technical difficulties/limitations but it'd be cool to see an L-sized Juggernaut.

    Name: Element of Surprise
    Tier & Orbs: T3 Colorless
    Type: Building
    Power Cost: 150
Hit points and Size: 2750, Large
    Attack value and Type: -

    Abilities:

    Control the Elements!

Element of Nature - Powers the Crystal with the element of Nature, healing all friendly units within a 'x' radius for 'y' value every 3 seconds, for the next 30 seconds.
Element of Frost - Covers the Crystal in frosty mist, greatly reducing the movement speed of all hostile units caught within a 'x' radius, for the next 15 seconds.
Element of Shadow - Coats the Crystal in dark energy, poisoning all units within a 'x' radius, dealing 'y' damage every second, for the next 20 seconds.
Element of Fire - Engulfs the Crystal in flames, greatly increasing the damage of nearby friendly units for the next 20 seconds.

Master of All: (costs 100 to activate) Pick one of the elements. However, using the Crystal this way quickly depletes it's power; each use reduces it's Hit Points by 1000 that cannot be warded off with the help of another card and it cannot be repaired in any way.

Master of None: (costs 50 to activate) Let the Crystal pick an element for you, at random!

    Explanation: I like RNG.

Welcome to the Official Anniversary Card Design Contest!

    THE CONTEST HAS ENDED.
To see all winning entries, CLICK HERE

Anniversaries are special opportunities – and we like to take this head-on and really show that Skylords Reborn is for the Community, by the Community! A contest like this has often been suggested, now is the time to ask you for your card development ideas.

In this contest, you are called to submit your idea for a new card,
which will be presented to high-ranking jurors for judgement.

The jurors for this will be the designers @Hirooo, @RadicalX and @WindHunter – for those who don't know, these are the guys who are calling the shots in the SR Team about what makes the cut for new content.
Important note: Of course, there is no obligation for the SR Team to make any entry into a real card. But, a good idea that really fits into the game has a lot of power, and your idea will be heard, seen and judged anonymously and without any barrier of entry.
The contest starts with the reveal of this post and ends on the 1st of January 2023, 23:59 CET. Submit your entry through Discord (DM to Kapo#0116) or the Skylords Forum (DM to @Kapo). I will anonymize the entries, present them to the jury, and after a voting phase the winners will be revealed.

    Rules:
Your idea must be a new card (NOT a rework of an already existing card or a Promo card) Units and buildings must be fitting for an already existing model (this is a technical limitation, but re-texturing can do wonders) Unfortunately, we also can't allow for Fire/Frost or Rainbow-cards (or any other outside the known factions, due to technical limitations) You are asked to create the fully upgraded version (see below: Things you don't need to add) By entering, you are giving away your card idea with permission to modify it  – the final design may differ from your submission here You are limited to a maximum of TWO entries - if you win on both, you will recieve the higher price You are asked to use the following template:

Things you don't need to add:
Rarity Upgrade Levels (submit a fully upgraded design) Number of Charges Artwork for the card At the end of the contest, we may make a compilation of the entries – by participating, you automatically agree to be included in that.

    Suggestions:
In preparation for this contest, we asked the jurors to drop some hints on what is needed for a good design.
You might not want to create a new super-powerful card, but a card that's interesting. Maybe it fills a special niche case in a faction (like Burning Spears), or it is special, or meme-worthy (like Easter Egg). Balance is important! The best cards are useful, fill essential roles, and are not overpowered. If you design a T1 or T2 card, think about PvP implications. Fit the card to the faction: Think about the intentional strengths and weaknesses of each faction. Potentially, you see an extremely missing card in an arsenal, but that could be part of that faction's design. Also, breaking core rules of the game requires a very, very, very good reason. For both topics, see: Design Philosophy Document. You are allowed to submit a legendary (neutral) card, but please note those are much harder to design and balance properly. You may present some optical aid to the jurors: On https://smj.cards/creator you can easily create your own card-mockup:

    Voting and Prize Tiers:
    PLATINUM TIER
Platinum tier are creations that REALLY could be considered to be added to the game. They must not be all-around perfect, since someone who is not on the SR team cannot know about every problem faced when implementing cards. Platinum entries are cool, captivating and would be a great addition to the game.
Platinum tier winners will win a low-grade promo of choice (e.g., Fallen Skyelf, Lyrish Knight or Rogan Kayle) or Ultra-Rare of choice of similar value (Infect, Forest Elder etc.). Should your card some day make it into the game, you will get it for your own collection.

    GOLD TIER
Gold tier suggestions are cool and interesting suggestions, but are lacking significantly in ONE (but only one!) way:
Unbalanced design with no way to repair that Clearly impossible to implement  Too niche to be worth the implementation Not fitting for any faction or into the game Not really a fitting, existing model in the game etc. Gold tier winners will win a Booster, accompanied by an (good) Rare or (medium) Ultra Rare card.

    SILVER TIER
Silver Tier suggestions are solid suggestions, but are lacking in more than one way to make it into the game. For examples of what could cause issues, see the mentioned list above.
Silver tier winners will win a Booster.

We are looking forward to your designs! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

    Best regards,
    Skylords Reborn Team

Thank you for your thorough answer on this matter.
Some of my questions got answered but I need more clarification.
Since you've brought it up let's stick with your example card, Infect. A highly sought after, ultra rare card that's always been expensive and I guess out of reach for some players, especially newcomers. It definitely shines in the right deck and makes life easier. But is it really a necessity? Not to sound like a broken record but I still believe that no ultra rare card is needed to finish the game (on any difficulty). I view it as some kind of a luxury item. Something to work towards to. High-end ultra rares and especially rares will not fill that role anymore. I understand why you ultimately decided to go with it but I still don't like that you've sacrificed this aspect in return.
I also get that opening bad UR's feel terrible, been there. But cheaper rares and ultra rares could have been made more valuable through balancing and not just by nature, having that UR tag. This way nobody would feel cheated when opening any of these cards but they could still remain expensive, relative to other cards.
But alas, what's done is done and I hope it works out in the end. Keep up the good work lads

As a returning player here's what I think about the latest update:
    What I like:
    - new cards - the art on them, their models and the voice samples I've heard are all very high quality
    - balancing - I went through the patch notes and most of these changes make sense, spot on
    - new rpve faction - I welcome every change as it's my most played mode by a large margin and the tower defense mode is by far the most interesting idea that'll happen eventually I guess
    - avatar system - it's cool that you can collect these avatars under a new tab, again, quality work
    What I don't like:
    - reforge system - I like the collecting aspect in card games, having to either pay, trade or grind my way to a specific card I've wanted for a long time, and while Battleforge is not your classic tcg in that sense, this aspect was completely nullified with this system. It makes me want to play less, not more
    - no way to trade for gold - with this update, gold as a currency is much more valuable than ever before and it seems like an oversight that there is no way to trade for it

Overall, the changes are great as far as gameplay and quality of life improvements go, but I do not like the major overhaul of the economy.
  17. Schantor liked a post in a topic by Demiron in Community update #16 - December 18th
The system was already generous as far as bfp gain and card acquisition goes (daily quests, achivements), FAR more than the original design, it did not need a new way to crush higher end / rare card prices imo.
Because of how reforging works, card prices are now tied to rarities rather than their usefulness or the value they provide in games. Bad rares and ultra rares will become valuable craft materials, despite how little they offer during actual gameplay, which is not ok with me. There are essentially no bad pack openings anymore as you can just sell 4 bad ones and buy something good off the auction house or if you're the gambler type you'll roll into something good eventually.
I personally like the feeling of my hard work paying off and getting something rare and valuable at the end of my days/weeks/months long grinding session. Unless we're talking about promos, it's not there anymore. Everything's within reach now. Maybe it's just a me problem, but maybe there are others out there, missing this feeling. I'm happy for everyone enjoying the system though and hats off to the very dedicated dev team.
Sweaty? My post provides actual feedback to the game we both love and care for. Your post is just straight out rude and offensive.
  18. Demiron liked a post in a topic by WindHunter in Patch #400031 - 18 December 2021
Hello everyone, I have a quick announcement about Reforging.

We have been monitoring Reforging and its effects on the economy very closely since release and while we are in general happy with how it has performed we have determined that the system needs to be toned down. As such we have made it more difficult to roll Rare and Ultra-Rare cards. We have also increased the cost of the Mini-booster from 50 to 75 Forge Shards while increasing the general value of rerolling Ultra-Rare cards. Overall it will now be more worthwhile to reroll multiple Ultra-Rare cards.

If you are one of the people negatively affected by the increase in the cost of mini-boosters due to having banked in excess of 33 Forge Shards before the change we will be reaching out to compensate you.

This change has already gone live.

Due to lockdowns, crazy amount of time I might have in the future. I might take your advice and give it a go, thanks!
And sorry for overreacting, you are or were in no way aggressive, I just felt like I was being a target for trying to be objective (or, in fact, brutally honest 🤣) about the patch. Whoops!
    Thank you for your post.
I don"t want to judge too soon so I guess we"ll have to wait and see how things turn out. I trust the dev team and if they and the data they monitor say it"s a working system then I"ll have no problem with it. So far everything has worked out pretty well, I"d say. Let"s see if it stays that way
I"m sure I represent the minority here but I actually like getting new cards the hard way. If everything is within reach from the getgo it doesnt feel rewarding one bit when you get that sexy new Infect or Harvester or whatever. I might be exaggerating or even wrong about everything I"ve said so far though. Guess we"ll have to wait and see how things turn out.

    Hey Demiron,

Just to make sure; we do really appreciated constructive feedback. Please never hesitate to let us know, I don't add the sentence to the community update just for show. And it greatly helps if you combine what you like and don't like, so we can get a better view of where your thoughts are coming from. Just saying ''This sucks'' is not very helpful, but feedback like yours is.

As for the general topic (not aimed at you specifically); I think there is a misunderstanding about the reforging feature and our intend for new players. We had new players in mind when adding the system, but not in the sense of them specifically using it. Of course new players will have less spare cards laying around, but the fact that the main player base is using reforging should adjust the market to a more healthy point for new players.
As mentioned a couple of times already, inflation is a real issue. If BFP are only added to the game, with no way of them to leave, prices will only rise and keep rising. Although the market is currently in turmoil, we expect it to stabilize after the reforge hype and the booster discounts are gone.
  22. Demiron liked a post in a topic by Kubik in Community update #16 - December 18th
    🤔 what "hostility"?
I personally do not like the reforging, so I do not need to hear how people like it.
Position of "Balance Developer" does not require any technical knowledge, and usually applicants get to try it before their application is being processed.
It just need crazy amount of time per card. And there are 1000s of cards.
I did not ask about position of designer that have more to do with re-balancing the cards. I would say these positions also not require highly technical knowledge (depending on how you categorize math).
I hope it will not sound aggressive to you (again), but how you can judge a concert if you are not musician? All concerts I heard in television was just some people doing noise, no useful information, no fun, so I have no clue why would anyone want to watch that.
And to be honest I feel the same about any soccer game, you get score, so you know who win, what else would you want to judge one it?
  23. Demiron liked a post in a topic by Danol in Choosing Daily Missions - Tired of the chores
Removing daily quests is the easiest way to accomplish that. So, if you're not, I'm asking: Please kill the frustrating, pointless daylies - I've never seen a single game that got better by including daylies and I hate them with a passion for exactly the reasons OP mentioned. Either I adapt my playstyle to the daylies, then I'm not having fun, or I don't, then I'm wasting BFP. Except the situations where a daily asks me to do what I'd do anyways. There is no good choice to be made here, just the lesser of two evils. In the best case the daylies are not having any influence on my games at all. To me, that looks like bad game design.
Additionally, daylies can be harmful for completely unrelated players - I, for example, am not playing the campaign much (except for a few missions I happen to like), so I got very little experience and just suck. Whenever I attempt to do a multiplayer campaign map for a daily, someone is stuck with an inexperienced player that doesn't know what to do.
Just increase the BFP pool for regular playtime accordingly.
If you absolutely want to have daylies, make them share the same BFP pool then the regular playtime - this way you could choose how to farm BFP, with daylies as an option to speed up the process, but not strictly neccessary.
  24. Demiron liked a post in a topic by Gnougnou in Choosing Daily Missions - Tired of the chores
I'm not asking devs to remove the quests. We're asking to be able to earn BF on our intended gamestyle. While I agree that there is no rush, having quests that force you to spam cards on 5/10, or do mission on advanced that you already did in Expert is pretty pointless, irritating at best.
Hell, I once had a quest asking me to spawn 12000 worth of power... What I did is play a 5/10 map with Resource Booster, Juice Tank, Furnace of Flesh, Decomposer, Breeding Grounds Offering, Rifle Cultists, Ravenheart, Mo and other T4 units. I sat there for 15mn building T4 units, killing them, offering a Rifle Cultists, rince & repeat. The fun was off the chart ...
