Thanks for regular updates and ongoing work you guys are putting into the project
One comment for Slayer's affinities. They are kinda opaque for casual players. The "types" of units (elemental, human, etc) is very weakly communicated mechanic and I don't think that majority of people knows them.  I think some time ago it was mentioned that this is going to be overhauled (together with male/female) - I think it would be good to avoid adding new traits regarding types until this is done/fixed.
  2. VolvoxGlobator liked a post in a topic by Cocofang in Spore Launcher - Upcoming Changes
It would be SO MUCH cooler if the Treespirits got spawned from the projectile, not from the unit itself. I mean, it is literally called a "Spore Launcher".
Having it on every auto attack (or every few ones) would be amazing but it would have some wonky quirks to work out. The amount of spawned Treespirits could even scale with the amount of spores shot and therefore with support, as far as I have seen. They'd have to be temporary though.

Imagine if attackers got swamped like that. Could take Spore Launcher into an entirely different direction. Nerf the amount of default spores it shoots from 3 to 1 but let every attack spawn a Treespirit, amount of spores and Treespirits scaling with support. Unfortunately, the Treespirits would take up pop cap as we don't currently have a way to introduce new pop-counts per unit ...

Hello again Skylords, Skyladies and other Skybeings; The contest is over, and it's time to announce the winners!

But first, I’d like to thank everyone for making the Crappy Community Contest #2 happen – no matter in what way: participation, sponsoring prizes, spreading the word or helping me to organize it. Of course, the extra-special-thanks goes to Mynoduesp, who did a fantastic job on the map.
In total, we reached a total number of 92 participants – thanks to the Skylords Team for sponsoring the code CCC2_SAVE-THEF-ORGE

Here are the fastest Skylords of CCC #2:
    1st place          00:54.4       RadicalX
    2nd place         01:00.7       Treim
    3rd place          01:00.7       Donaar
    4th place          01:04.3       Dolewan
    5th place          01:05.2       Juntti
    6th place          01:05.5       Hiko
    7th place          01:05.5       Wanky
    8th place          01:06.7       Dutchy
    9th place          01:08.2       Arabika
    10th place        01:08.2       Pritstift
Short reminder: Three times two entries have been exact the same, and as written down in the rules have been decided on who submitted the entry earlier. If your Sherlock Holmes-mind kicks in that this is highly unlikely to be a coincidence, I agree. I will investigate and post something about that in the next days, either with answers how this happens or with more questions.
As an additional information for those who are interested, RadicalX went through the Bandit camp and killed the Stonekin Warlord (details about that see below), the fastest submission that took the other route (Stonekin camp / Twins boss) was Juntti’s 5th place, so both sides had the potential for a top time in the ranks.

    Winners of the Random Draws:

    Draw 1      Killbuster        Infect
Draw 2      Lans               Church of Negation
    Draw 3      Donaar           Overlord
    Draw 4      Nmy               Brannoc
    Draw 5      Tinuvien         Juggernaut
    Draw 6      Dolewan         Worldbreaker Gun
    Draw 7      McRibwich     Grinder R
Draw 8      Damo             Shrine of War

Draws for 9-13 for 1 General Booster each: itap, Jaroddampsey, houkai, Nyakyua, Hrdina_Imperia

I will send you the prizes as soon as possible through ingame mail.

    In conclusion
Thanks again to all who helped to make this happen. CCC #3 has already been discussed with the Event Managers, and will be something completely different, far far away from the realm of 'fastest time wins' – but before that we will see some other events.
If you have a crappy idea for future CCC's you may share and discuss that with me, maybe you can host your own Crappy Contest! Feel free to contact me anytime. If you want to discuss or host a non-crappy contest, contact our Event Managers Hiko and/or Metagross. They are super supportive and will help you to organize your event!

Hope you enjoyed the contest, I see you in the Forge!

  4. VolvoxGlobator liked a post in a topic by WindHunter in The Current State of the Economy & Reforging
    Hello everyone,
As everyone knows, the in-game economy shifted massively after the advent of the Reforging system. This has led a number of players to express concerns about the health of the economy, and as such we would like to share some relevant economic data with the community.
Some important information on the data: When it says "Fire Pool" it includes every card in the game which includes a Fire Orb. The data was collected and presented in this manner because this is how Reforging works when it tells you that the output card has an X% chance of containing a Fire Orb. Additionally, all price information presented is an average of actual sales in the auction house over a given period. While some extreme outliers were removed from the data set, such as 5 bfp Harvesters and 400 bfp Northguards, in 99% of instances the data was accepted as-is without tampering from our side.
Control Data Set: Contains data prior to the release of Reforging, from June to September 2021.

Post-Reforging Data Set: Contains data from two weeks after the release of Reforging, approximately December 25th 2021 to January 5th 2022.

    Initial Analysis of Data Set:
At first glance, you can quickly see that after the update the following changes occurred:
The average, median, and minimum prices of Common cards increased across the board.  The minimum and median prices of Uncommon cards increased across the board, while the maximum and average prices decreased. The decrease in average prices can be attributed to 1-2 outlier cards in most factions, such as Frost Mage and Shaman, which substantially increased the average price of Uncommon cards in their respective factions. The same thing happened to Rare cards as happened to Uncommon cards. Average, median, and max price of Ultra-rare cards decreased across the board while minimum price increased.  General booster worth decreased from 378 bfp to 311 bfp. Given booster prices are still discounted by 100 bfp until January 18th, this means it is actually more worthwhile to open boosters after the update than it was before. On average, the daily discounted booster will profit a player 61 bfp post-update versus 28 bfp pre-update. How this data will move after the discount is removed remains to be seen, but we expect a slow creep up in prices for cards across the board. Reforging established a minimum base worth for all cards dependent on rarity that did not exist prior. For now this seems to be: Common: 4-5 bfp Uncommon: 14-16 bfp Rare: 62-64 bfp Ultra-rare: 153-165 bfp  Neutral Cards - A Control Set
    Control Data Set: Neutral card prices;

Post-Reforging Data Set: Neutral card prices

Neutral cards were purposefully excluded from the Reforging feature. As such, they can only be put into the Reforging system but can never come out. This makes them a good control for examining the data because their prices should only increase when combined with Reforging. While this happened with the Common and Uncommon cards, the same is not true for Rare and Ultra-rare cards. The only increases to Rare and Ultra-rare cards seem to be in-line with those cards increasing to match the base value of other cards of their rarities. This can be seen with Curse Well and Curse Orb and partially in Queek Queek, though it is possible due to the low trading volume of QueekQueek the numbers were simply erratic in the period examined.
This decrease in the value of Rare cards and the value stagnation of undesirable Ultra-rare cards we see in Neutral cards was a consistent trend among all card values pre-update. If you look above, you will see that the maximum price of Shadow Pool cards in the control data is shown as 3865 bfp. As many of you might have guessed, this data point refers to Infect. Now if you were active in the weeks before the update, you will also know that the price of Infect at the time was actually in the 4500-5000 bfp range. In only a 2-month period, the average price of Infect inflated by between 700-1200 bfp. This trend was not confined to only Infect but to every desirable Ultra-rare card in the game.
The market trends pre-update (not shown here) were that Common cards were largely worthless, Uncommon cards were following the same trend, Rare cards were steadily decreasing in price (even among sought after cards such as Overlord, Bloodhorn, and Amii Monument), and desirable Ultra-rare and promo cards were increasingly inflating. This was because Ultra-rare and promo cards were the only remaining sources of value left in the economy. Reforging changed this by condensing the total price range of the market and by giving each card in the game a base level of value.

Both sides have pros and cons, they seem quite well balanced and I hear good times from both.
Use hero abitlities and those you get from the crystals.
No matter what side you decide for, get in asap, ged rid of the bombard asap and destroy the crystals. You don't need to clear all. Kill things (units/buildings) until the Boss triggers.
    Focus only the boss.
Hope this is not a Cpt Obvious post, else please get more specific and we can see if we can help.
  6. VolvoxGlobator liked a post in a topic by Majora in Community Update #17 - January 8th 2022
    Greetings Skylords!

Welcome to the first Community Update of 2022! We hope you had a blast playing Skylords Reborn in 2021 and hope you will continue to do so in this brand new year. Even though we just released a major content patch, there is already a lot of interesting things to talk about, so let's get started!

    • Yearly Recap 2021
On the 17th of December we had our Anniversary Stream, celebrating the 1-year anniversary of Skylords Reborn. Sadly, something went wrong with the playback of the stream that we were not able to fix. Instead of doing a rerecording, we decided to record a recap of 2021 instead.
In this yearly recap video we go over everything that was added to the game in 2021. Use it as an easy catch-up or as an introduction video for your returning friends!

A lot was added in the patch on the 18th, so we can understand you might have missed something in the overload of changes and new content. To make things a bit more easier for both current and new players, we have also collected information into a handy overview.
We grouped all the documents (deep dives, behind the scenes, PvP guide, etc.) we have released last year, and collected every community update thus far on a single page with highlights. Especially Community Update 16 went into all the changes added in the last major content patch. We hope this will make it easier for you to keep track of progress.

    • New Voicelines Implemented
With some help from our friends in the C&C community, we were able to fix the issues we had with the sound converter needed to implement new voicelines into the game. We are happy to announce we added English* voicelines to Banzai Lord and Amii Paladins!
Banzai Lord is voiced by Dreamlord. We tried to create a character that is both sinister towards his enemies, and caring towards his birds. Because both Tortugun and Wasteland Terror (soon™) are non-humanoid, we hope he will give some flavor to the lategame of Bandits.
Amii Paladins is voiced by Rothriel. The Amii can go into multiple directions; they are full of energy as part of their elemental nature, a joyous unrestraint and/or an excess of emotion. At the same time they are a race still shrouded in mystery. We went with a serious and calm vibe for these Amii soldiers, and we plan to lean into the more energetic approach for Amii Phantom.
In the near future we plan to also add voicelines to Bandit Sniper, Dryad, Mountain Rowdy and Amii Phantom.
Additionally, there are already plans for other cards that are currently without voicelines, like Bandit Lancer or Warlock.
*Adding voicelines is a ton of work, both for the voice actors and those implementing. Because of this, we currently are only able to provide voicelines in English. We have added these English voicelines into each version of the game, no matter what language you play it in. We would like your opinion on this. If you play the game on German, French or Russian would you prefer your cards to be without sound, or with English voicelines? Fill in the poll here.
If you want to help with the implementation of voicelines and have experience with video and audio, please check out our open position for Video Editor below.

    • Creating New Lore and Campaign Maps
We are excited to announce that we are planning on expanding the Skylords Reborn lore! This will include future story expansions as we work on adding new campaign maps and new in-game characters, as well as new Legends pages (for the Lore book).
The initial goal is to add 5 new Legends pages for each faction, including the hybrid factions. Yet we cannot do this alone, so as part of this endeavor, we would like to invite anyone interested in the lore and in writing to join us in a new official Lore Taskforce server! Any member of the community will be able to submit proposals for new Legends which, if approved, will be included in the game. So if you have ever had a great story idea for your favorite unit, now is the time to put pen to paper and give it a try! Join the Lore Discord here.
We will share more about our plans and progress for campaign maps at a later date.

    • Advanced Filtering Survey
In our last patch we added advanced filtering options, both for the inventory and the AH. We are curious if you are aware of it and/or use it.
To gather data and figure out how many of you are aware of the new options, we have created a very small survey. We hope you will take the time to fill it in.
You can find the survey here, it should only take a few minutes of your time.

    • Pure Nature Rework
After Pure Frost and Bandits, the balance team has now set its eyes on Pure Nature as the next faction to receive major changes. On the balance discord you can already see some of the proposals for multiple cards, ranging from Nerfs to Deep One and Energy Parasite, to buffs to Ghost Spears and the Root Network. Cards like Grove Spirit, Forest Elder, Mind Control, Abyssal Warder, Colossus and Grimvine are also being looked at.
The Root Network is an interesting yet complex Nature mechanic that is often misunderstood (and poorly explained by the game). Some of the ideas currently being discussed are changing Thornbark to count as multiple entities for the Root Network and reduced power costs for cards like Spikeroot and Treespirit. After the changes are a bit more fleshed out, we plan to provide you with another Deep Dive document, going into what makes Nature tick, its strength and weaknesses, and how we plan to tackle them.
Alongside changes to Nature, we are also going to test out a couple of nerfs and buffs on the test server in the near future. Some of the cards that are currently being looked at are Nightguard, Executor, Phalanx, Ice Guardian, Warlock, Stoneshards and Twilight Minions.
You can find all our current idea's and join the discussion on our Balance Discord.

    • Update to Skylords Marketplace Journal
Maze has been hard at work and released a new version of the website Skylords Marketplace Journal. On this website you can easily track prizes of cards. The redesigned site is now at a stage of development where he felt it is viable enough to replace the old version, which broke with the anniversary patch. The old version is and will probably stay available, but it won't receive any more updates. It can still be found here.
There are a bunch of exciting features in the new website, including a larger variety of filters, more price details for each card, general card info and other interesting QoL features. You can even find the average value of the reforged card when destroying 4 of the same card and on what map you can find the upgrade for the card.
Read up all about the changes, or go directly to the new website here.

Maze is not the only one who provides market statistics through his website however. Some of you might be aware of the Auction House Archives, created by DraginMaster. The goal of this site is to track each card's journey through the in-game auction house and beyond. Since it tracks each individual auction, it can deduce when a card has sold in the auction house and for how much. More information can be found here.

    • Update to the Stats Website
The Skylords Reborn Stats website also received an overhaul. Here you can find interesting and up-to-date stats from Skylords Reborn, like current number of players online and running matches, but also fun stats like unopened boosters. It now also contains Auctions and Leaderboards!

    • Tournaments
    • NEW: Official 2p rPvE Contest#2: The Bandit alliance UNTIL 31.01.2022
For this challenge, we want to see your adaptability in unique situations.
We are looking at the fastest time with only one rule: each player may only spawn one single unit with ground presence through the whole run!

    • FINISHED: Official PvE Contest#4: Winter is coming
The fourth official PvE contest has ended, and the winners were revealed in a stream you can rewatch on our Twitch channel.

    • FINISHED: CCC #1 Hunt Down The Stragglers
Kapo took the initiative to host the first in a series of ''Crappy Community Contests'' This and future CCCs are meant to be super-small-scale contests with weird challenges, hopefully luring you away from well-trodden paths. They are small scale on the organizers side too: there is no stream, video or event announcing the winners. Because of this, the entry barrier was low, and this resulted in 130 players participating!

    • Host your own event / tournament
Want to host a tournament or event? Please reach out to our Event Organizers Hiko and/or Metagross to have your event prizes sponsored by us. If you have a cool idea for a PvE event, or want to host a PvP tournament, please don't hesitate to reach out to us, we will gladly assist you.

    • We need your help!
We are in dire need of a Marketeer / Outreach Coordinator!
As you are probably aware, Skylords Reborn does currently not have anyone who helps actively promoting the game. We would love to promote and increase the player base for Skylords Reborn. To do so, we have two open positions. If you have the time and the required skills to help, please consider having a chat with us. We would love to get help in these area's!

    Open Position - Video Editor
As a video editor you are responsible for creating exciting video content for Skylords Reborn. This can range from short card reveal videos to exciting trailers and cutting up Twitch-stream content for highlight videos on our Youtube channel. If you have any experience with audio post production, you can also help us out with the process of adding new voice-lines and sound effects into the game. Click here to read more and apply.

Open Position - Marketeer / Outreach Coordinator
As a Marketeer / Outreach Coordinator you are responsible to spread the word and create awareness about Skylords Reborn and to attract veteran and new players alike. This includes actively researching and reaching out to potentially interested streamers, youtubers, Discord channels, game magazines, among others. You will be responsible for the communication to and from interested parties and for any promotion deals (for example involving scratch codes). Please note that Skylords Reborn cannot do any paid promotions. Click here to read more and apply.

    • Team changes / Open Position
The position for  Community Manager has opened up, which might come as a bit of as surprise. Over the past 10 months I have been in charge of bringing all of you these community updates and enjoy doing so. However, I have taken on more and more tasks lately, resulting in a shift to a new role; Project Coordinator. In this role I will put a bigger focus on streamlining our workflow and planning of patches. Because of this, we are now looking for someone who can help with some of my previous responsibilities. If you are interested, please check out the description below.
    Open Position - Community Manager
As a community manager you are responsible with aiding the communication to and from the community. You will work closely with the Project Coordinator (previously Community Manager) to communicate staff and project decisions to the community through, for example, The Community Updates and self-written announcements. Furthermore, you will act as a contact person for the community to share project feedback and suggestions and are expected to keep the staff informed and be up-to-date with the state of the community. Click here to read more and apply.

    • In Conclusion
And that's it for this Community Update, thanks for reading!
As is tradition, this community update comes with a scratch code.
The code will reward you with a mini-booster: COMM-UNIT-YNEW-S17B
The code is valid till January 29th, when we will bring you another Community Update.
Please keep in mind that the 100BFP discount on all boosters is still valid until January 18th.
As always, we are open to feedback so please let us know if you have any questions, suggestions or comments!

  9. VolvoxGlobator liked a post in a topic by Majora in Community Update #12 - October 2nd 2021
    Greetings Skylords!

It's been three weeks since our last community update so it's time to bring you up to speed with everything going on in Skylords Reborn!

Adding new voice-lines into the game
In our last Community Update we made our new Sounds Converter open source in the hopes of improving the sound quality for adding new voice-lines and sounds into the game.
We are happy to tell you we discovered a different, albeit non-optimal, conversion method. Using this new method, we are able to convert certain files in the mp3 format into the snr format required by the game. This allows us to improve the sound quality to a state where we start to feel confident in adding new voice-lines into the game, especially for our upcoming new cards.
There are still a few things to figure out, for example the fact that some sounds are hardcoded into unit models, or how some special voice-lines are triggered. For the former, we are still in need for volunteers for the "3D Tool Developer" role.
However, in the following weeks you can expect a post asking for volunteer voice actors. If you want to make your mark on the Skylords Reborn legacy, this is definitely one way to do so! We will be in need of both male and female voice actors, and will share more info on how to apply soon.

    Open Sourcing effect editor
After our success with open sourcing the Sound Converter, we will now also be open sourcing the Special Effect Editor. As mentioned in a previous Community Update, with this tool we are able to edit the special effects of BattleForge and create new ones from scratch. This is particularly useful for spells, since they are for the majority special effects. Many units also have special effects on their models though, like the flames of Batariel or the frosty cold effect emitted from Frost Mage.

    An update on Defence RPvE
As we mentioned in a previous Community Update, multiple game modes are currently in development. One of them is Defence RPvE. Instead of the normal RPvE where you attack to clear the map of enemies within the time limit, here you have to defend waves of enemies.
We are not ready to release this game mode, since there is still a lot of work to be done.  However, since a lot of people are curious about how it will work, we figured to give you a glimpse of what the mode will look like. Keep in mind these features and mechanics might still change in the future.
DRPvE will be playable by 1 to 4 players. It's a co-op scenario where you will all work towards the same goal. If you play alone or with 2 players, the other spots will not get enemy waves.
You play against one of the 8 enemy factions, randomly chosen. Each of those factions has one custom final boss. For each phase, 3 out of 5 units are randomly chosen from the available options for that faction. This means that even if you play against the same faction twice, you might have a different experience on both runs.
There are 4 phases of enemy attackers, with each phase being concluded by a mini-boss. At this point the current wall will be destroyed and you will unlock the next tech-tier. During the small break you can advance to the next wall and build up new defences.
Each player will also have a switch that can be activated as soon as the mini-boss of the current phase has been spawned. If all players press it, the new phase starts immediately, allowing different timings of RPvE runs.
Each position/lane (see the picture) gets a free unit or units at phase 2.
    Optional objectives
    - There are 2 guarded shrines that cast spells to defend themselves. Destroying those will reward you with global buffs and energy.
    - There are 4 bases, one for each of the dual color factions. Defeating those will reward you a free unit of the corresponding faction.
Below you can see the map. You spawn at the bottom, and slowly make your way to higher placed defence positions.

As mentioned before, we are still hard at work on this game mode. We are currently working on the bosses for this mode and are in need of a Map Artist to work on the look and feel of the map. If you want to help, please reach out to us!
We are curious what you think so far, so please let us know in the comments.

I want to aks/suggest if to rework or atleast reduce the "crystal fiend" sound volume. It's a great unit/card but me and I think many others find it to be pretty noise. Making it tiring to use.

I hope everyone is fine and noone got hurt by the flooding.
    Short (slightly drunk) question:
why remove frostmage from pure frost PvP Deck?
Edit: There are some more things unclear about the free PvP deck changes. Do you guys have a full explanation of the changes somewhere?
    Also:  for special effects!

The Balance Philosophy document was a really interesting read, but I felt like an important piece is missing: in your opinion, how does each faction look like ideally? You briefly mention how "the game helps us by providing clear archetypes via the four elements", so I was really expecting you to follow that up by describing how you see those four elements and how a mix of them is supposed to look like. You later briefly touch on this when discussing the design goal of "Thematic Correctness" by giving the examples of Stonekin and Lost Souls, but I really feel like it would be interesting if you expanded on that.
In the context of PvE here's how I think the elements ideally look like
    Fire - Pure offensive playstyle
    Strengths:
Units with the best DPS Best bursting spells Extremely good at sieging (think Firedancer, Wallbreaker, Juggernaut, Earthshaker, ...) Weaknesses:
Bad at area defense (lack of good defensive buildings or wall-mounted units) Little to no CC
Frost - Slow and steady playstyle
    Strengths:
Tankiness (large HP, wide access to damage reduction and shielding effects) Access to freezing effects Extremely good area defense (best in class defensive buildings, wall-mounted units and building-supporting spells/units) Weaknesses:
Slow movement Very low DPS (even their main CC reduces DPS) Nature - Supportive playstyle
    Strengths:
Healing (duh) Wide access to different types of crowd control and ways to debuff enemies Better in large groups (Linked Fire mechanic, chain effects, ...) Weaknesses:
Not particularly high stats in either damage or HP Unimpressive damaging spells Tends to depend on other elements/players to get the job done Shadow - Daredevil playstyle
I think it's hard to define Shadow via a comparison of strengths and weaknesses, because this element is all about having drawbacks to each strength. It's also about bending the rules of the game and forcing you to play differently in order to not hurt yourself. Shadow cards also tend to be better at working alone and impatiently.
In my opinion, examples of quintessential Shadow cards are Lifestealer, Stone of Torment, Shadow Phoenix, Ashbone Pyro, Church of Negation and Soulshatter. These cards are all extremely strong when used adequately, but they can be terrible when used carelessly.
So I guess in a way it's all about high-risk and high-reward, which rewards good micro execution.

But then it gets a little more complicated to describe the hybrid factions. As you pointed out, Stonekin indeed feels like a very good mix of the characteristics of frost and nature... but then Lost Souls has none of that "playing on a knife's edge" feeling that Shadow is supposed to have. I think ideally Lost Souls would have some of those Shadow mechanics that bring drawbacks to its strengths, but at the same time the Frost element in it would allow a slower less mechanically intensive playstyle. Meanwhile, I feel like Bandits have no good identity other than the lifestealer mechanic (which is good thematically IMO, but not enough to carry the whole faction), while Twilight cards are all about being good stat sticks (they can be strong, but most of them aren't particularly interesting).
As for Amii and the potential Fire-Frost faction, honestly those hybrids confuse me a bit. This is mainly because I see Fire as an opposite of
Frost and Shadow as an opposite of Nature, so I have no idea how they should play like. It seems like it's easy to run the risk of them being
"jack of all trades master of none" sorta factions. Maybe they could be cool if they worked around a cool new mechanic, but I can't think of anything in particular.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on these things!

    Hey everyone,
I have something new that I want to share with you.
In the last two days I tried something new and built a simple Discord Bot that allows you to set notifications for card prices.

    DISCLAIMER:
Please note that to use the automated notifications you will have to subscribe to the bot, meaning that you need to confirm that your publicly visible Discord ID and all your personal notification settings for this bot are stored in one of my databases. You can unsubscribe at any time, which deletes all your user data including all notification settings for this bot from the database, never to be recovered.

Here are some things it can do right now:
Set multiple notifications for different cards with criteria for when there are buyout prices below (for buying) or only buyout prices above (for selling) a set price available Unset all notifications for a specific card, so you can set new ones, if your criteria change Unset a specific notification Show all your current notification settings Show all current buyout prices for the cards you have set notifications for Show all current buyout prices for a specific card, or cards that include a specific set of characters (no subscription needed) I set the Bot up so that it checks for new data frequently and sends notifications each time a previously set criteria is met, which should be not later than 1.5 minutes after new data is available from the API.

If you are okay with subscribing, just want to use it for displaying the buyout prices of a card or simply want to stay updated on changes to my website or bot, join my myDiscord Server and start interacting with the bot in your DMs. If you joined the server, when the bot was not online, simply DM the bot with !help once it is online again. You can join it here:
    https://discord.gg/m5Dm5fweSV
Also, since I haven't spent a lot of time with programming this little bot (or Discord Bots in general) yet, there might still be some issues and other stuff, like a not so understandable command documentation or the nonexistent description on my Discord server.

Nonetheless, I hope you still like it and find this simple bot useful.

Charges have been frontloaded so that upgrades become less mandatory.
    24 charges: 6+6+6+6 -> 12+4+4+4
    20 charges: 5+5+5+5 -> 10+4+3+3
    16 charges: 4+4+4+4 -> 8+3+3+2
    12 charges: 3+3+3+3 -> 6+2+2+2
    8 charges: 2+2+2+2 -> 4+2+1+1
    4 charges: 1+1+1+1 -> 1+1+1+1

I'd invert this. In Ranked, it should be skill that decides where you end up on the leaderboard. Not capacity for grinding. And the reality is that if you fight with a non-optimized deck vs an optimized, you WILL run into situations where you lose against fairly simple unit spams because you don't own a specific key card for that matchup, or it simply isn't upgraded high enough.
Also, talking for myself and my friend group of 4 people who play RTS together from time to time, we play games longer if they're balanced and fun. Grinding purely serves as a barrier to entry. It's much more satisfying to notice how you actually get better at the game and thus win more, as opposed to winning more because you have plainly better cards.
Tbh I have a hard time even understanding the sentiment of wanting grinding for PVP. I can understand liking grinding in PVE, because there you're playing against a (rather dumb) AI and thus balancing makes no sense - if it was balanced, you'd win everytime. But in PVP, adding grinding just means that you're forced to play uninteresting non-games.
I remember back when BF was still an EA game and I started out with lvl ~60, reasonably decent shadow/frost deck on low ladder. Roughly a third of my games, I'd play against a clearly terrible lvl 30 or so deck and completely stomp the opponent, even though I wasn't much better in terms of micro etc. . Another third of the time, I'd play against a lvl 100+ netdeck (often pure fire) and get completely stomped myself and again, not because I necessarily played worse. Actually interesting games, against OPs with similar deck lvls that are similarly optimized, seemed like the minority of matches. Only after I got lvl 100+ myself, reached a higher rank and had all the important cards, games were decided by skill. I don't mind getting stomped if the OP is actually clearly better. But if I had as little time back then as I have now, I don't think I'd have persevered until then.

Yes, because "true PvP" requires a proper deck. So if a player wants to only experience true PvP--without grinding PvE or playing weird pvp games where you don't have half the cards--that player must use the premade decks until they get their own.
Isn't that the whole debate? There are PvP cards I would like to have (substitutions I wanted today: green disenchant, sunderer, vileblood, mo, shadow insect) which I need to grind for, but the PvP decks are still playable right now.
But other players feel that since upgrading PvP cards isn't necessary, they lose something.

When the open beta stress test launched, it was probably at least a week before I played my first PvP game. First, I needed some basic cards (so someone can't just spam frost mages and win), and also because no one else wanted to play with weird cards. I uploaded my first real PvP game in the open stress test almost 2 months after the initial release (not sure when I played it), and its still obvious that we are both missing cards, making a weird game:

The earliest replay I still have is from the OST is September 30, 2018--again, almost a month after OST's initial release. That game is a 2v2 with a still strange deck.
My point is that true PvP is locked behind a "grindwall" without level 120 decks. I am trying to make an analogy of how players would feel if PvE was locked behind some sort of grindwall.
Yes, speedrunners are affected, but they can always go to the test server if they really want to speedrun right now: all they need are their mates, who they communicate with anyway (besides this, there is no possible solution for speedrunners that doesn't affect PvE). And there is no way to play PvP on the testserver without sending a PM to a friend, because everyone else queues in the regular server. For my own PvP enjoyment, I'd rather if all the PvP players just moved to the test server and then PvP effectively died in the real server. But such a split would be very bad for our small community.

I don't understand? If a player enjoys the grind, then they should grind. If they don't enjoy the grind, they should skip it?
What does the reward of the grind have to do with whether you enjoy it or not?

How would you feel if you weren't allowed to play campaign mode until you won a bunch of PvP games? It is a senseless restriction imo.
  21. VolvoxGlobator liked a post in a topic by Eirias in Remove lending LVL120 PVP decks
And how much worse is it when you don't have a choice about being behind? If there were no free PvP decks, I bet NONE of the top PvP players would have played PvP today. They would have got started on PvE grinding or possibly just completely quit, like so many did in the beta testing phase.
Why are you working for a PvP deck? Do you play exclusively play PvP, and if you do, what is your tag? I have never seen a Cocofang in any of my PvP games.
If you are not exclusively a PvP player, then work for a PvE deck. PvP is meant to be played with a full level 120 deck. Playing without the proper cards is like playing chess without all the pieces. Yes a better player will still win against a worse player if the skill gap is wide enough, but it's just more interesting to play against an even opponent with the proper pieces. Opening strategies and endgame considerations are completely overturned without the right balance of chess pieces, and it is the same in battleforge.
Work for a full 120 PvE deck, and accept that PvP is a different game mode
Yes. I was one of the most vocal adversaries of upgraded PvP cards in the beginning, before the game was released. In the alpha and beta testing stages, I have been convinced that I looked at Battleforge through rose-tinted glass. Even U2 to U3 is a big difference, especially on all 20 cards.
A good player can beat a newer player using just the tutorial deck . But a good player will NOT beat a similarly-skilled player if one has U1/U2 and the other has all U3.
I might go so far as to say that at the top level, the player with U3 forsaken will beat the player with U2 forsaken at least 80% of the time? @RadicalX perhaps you can provide a better estimate on that?
The dedicated PvP playerbase is quite small, so it's not like a good player will beat a ton of beginners with his weak deck, and have everything upgraded by the time he faces someone of a similar skill level. Maybe that worked in the old days, but not anymore....
Additionally, anyone who wants to climb the ranked ladder without premade decks is forced to play lost souls, because souls is cheap enough to build quickly, beats the other cheap deck (fire nature), and doesn't have any losing matchups because no one will have the super rare pure fire cards yet.
If you don't want to grind PvE, then don't haha. That's the point. Why be forced to do something you don't want to do? If you like grinding, grind for a perfect speedrunner deck. But if you are only playing PvE to get to PvP...why not just skip directly to the mode you like
  22. VolvoxGlobator liked a post in a topic by Eirias in Remove lending LVL120 PVP decks
I mean, you can still grind? But now you can also play (2) decks while you wait
And so you are not at a disadvantage vs someone just because you didn't grind enough, and newcomers can get directly into PvP without having to grind their way around.
There are still many cards missing that can't capture every possible deck combo; I probably play 3-5 pvp decks every day, and many times I change out another 4-5 cards each deck depending on how I'm feeling
The free decks give dedicated pvp players access to pvp with no barrier except if they want certain tech cards. Anyone interested in grinding for pve must still use the regular, unupgraded cards.

All those agains free PvP deck - please realize that PvP is endangered mode. It needs certain critical mass to be playable - you need enough players online. During beta this was not the really the case. Something had to be changed and free PvP is it. It does the following
    - removes huge barrier to entry for newcomers (described above multiple times)
    - Hooks players for longer time. E.g. in orignal BF I had to invest some money and time to get one deck. At that point I was very reluctant to do it again to build some different PvP decks. But this barrier made me lose interest gradually. With free PvP decks everyone can "spice it up", try different factions and thus keeping players hooked for longer.
When you are arguing that you like to grind you mean for your favourite PvP deck. Have you considered trying different faction? Add 3+ more "grinds" on top of what is needed for your deck to actually have all PvP factions available.
Also, I dont think that splitting PvP modes is good idea - at least until the plaerbase is really really large enough
