I sorta get where you are coming from, but I think it is rather the other way around. With the free decks, you have all the tools you need for a viable deck from the start, of course you would still need to put in the effort to get to know the individual cards and what they do, but that is a much gentler transition than getting to have to know every single card in the game to build your deck, and perhaps missing key counter components, or using wrong affinity cards for example and then proceed to perhaps blame the balance of the game.

Once you learned the basic meta decks, you can then suit the decks to your playstyle, by switching/removing/adding cards.

Hotkeys should rather be for the spells, you want quick use of your spells be it heal, buff, damage, repair buildings, as that can be very split second. I just got started with hotkeys, someone did indeed advise me to use 1-4 changed with f1-f4, you don't need all 20 cards binded to hotkeys, rather just the spells and T1 units. I use my mouse buttons for spells though, w for first ability, s for stop, v to kill my own units, space for latest alert. Tho if you need to use more keyboard keys I think a moba based setup with qwerdf could help too
It could Depends alot on which decks you play too

It worked out of the box with the new Lutris script and the black box
After the first configuration check I also had to remove the line "maxshader": false.

@Ultrakool - your post is weird with double content.
There is Promo version of Snapjaws, you can find it out by custom artwork. All Promo cards have star in a corner.
However, all available variants of Promo Snapjaws are untradable card, and untradable symbol takes priority over Promo symbol.
Yes, Snapjaws from first picture are promo. Yes, they have Promo Star. The Promo Star is hidden below Untradable card bell.

    Example:
All untradable cards spawned as a unit do not have untradable Bell. Therefore, if you spawn starter Sunstriders, they have no symbol in the corner.
However, if you spawn Promo Snapjaws in the game, then Promo Star is visible - since no Bell symbol appears on spawned cards.

    Hi,
back in 2009 I made a ReplayAnalyzertool with a friend.
Just found it (still looking for the sourcecode, i'll share should I find it again).

It features playerinfos(deck, apm etc. ), a replay browser, a basic replay function outside of skylords and the possibility to rename your replays (on buttonpress or automatically) from autosave to something that will be kept and includes maps/playername.

    have fun:
    http://torsten-lueders.de/replayanalyzer/skylords_replay_analyzer.zip
( You will need a Java runtime for the tool and it still misses the maps and cards of "newest" Edition (Lost Units etc.) that will be displayed as unknown card. )

The falso also includes a command line tool (/parser) to get jsondata (orbs, played cards, winner, apm etc. ) from replays.
Used it on my webserver for a replay database and on a battleforge turney page to detect the winner(bfleague.com).
Works on Linux and Windows but you need a (v)server with commandline for it so you can install java and execute the command line.
    Feel free to use it.

Alright, let's clear things up a bit. First of all, you're making assumptions in your entire post, I'm not even sure on what you're basing those, but most of them are entirely wrong, the fact that you're calling our servers 'trash' when most of our playerbase is currently having no issue whatsoever, isn't the correct way to tell things I'd say. You're having issues? That's totally fine and we're open enough to collect everyone's feedback, logs, and comments of your game experience with our services, but you need to do it the correct way. As far as I can see you've never sent us any messages or logs on the issues you've been facing. We've had in the last few days some issues with our servers, which we've been monitoring and fixing over the days, we're keeping everyone informed over our Discord.

Now, let's talk about the rest of your message, as fiki mentioned, our hardware is absolutely fine, we're not even using half of its current capabilities, so this is out of the equation, what could be involved in your crashes is a software related issue, could be related to our proxy/launcher, could be related to our server code, but we're not magicians, if you don't send us logs, your problems won't be solved easily, or fast.

I'm not sure where you're from and what's the ping you're currently experiencing, but having multiple game servers to host games spread over the entire globe, won't be a viable solution for us, we have very limited funds, and even tho we're getting more and more patrons everyday since release, we're being really cautious with how we spend that money, but the survival of this entire project depends on it. Also this may not solve any issue you're facing at all, Battleforge is a very old game from 2009 and you have to remember this, we didn't make this game and its logic, there's not such thing as reconnection system within the game, so the small instability from your connection, can lead to instant disconnect, it could be related to your internet provider, jitter, ping, packet loss.. Anyway, having different games server around the globe might help with ping related issues, if they're even related to these disconnects you're having, and that we currently can't confirm it is.

But again, calling our servers (and implying many things with it) trash, sucks, are pointless etc.. etc.. isn't the right way to proceed. You have the right to be mad at something, but try to not make false assumptions and direspect this team's work, which we've been doing for free, on our freetime, for over 5 years now, especially when you have no clue how our infrastructure, code or hardware, looks like.

And last but not the least, no, we don't have any player limit on the server, and we're not kicking players randomly when that non-existing limit is reached, I have no idea why you'd think we would do that in the first place.

Just want to remind people about this youtube channel
    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZLtgBj59SBfIZzcYWbxJVg
The BattleForge Creator's Guild was started back in the alpha testing stage, and its goal is to collect content from all battleforge creators to promote the game. Idea is that 1 big channel will reach more people than 10 small channels. Unfortunately at some point it was mostly me making videos and people just associated the channel with me, so I post more on my own channel to give others room to post here.
If you are interested in battleforge content creation (especially if you're not sure you're dedicated enough to make 100+ videos on your own channel), we encourage you to make videos here! And this is a good central BF channel to subscribe to and promote to friends

    Hey,

Sorry that you are potentially being discriminated for the language you speak, however, it seems to me the message you sent was not a threat or something rude. I can't say for sure if this is happening or not. I understand the point of answering in german, especially because it is much harder to translate ingame text (no ingame translation/copy message to paste in external translator option), as well as answering said question in public channels, because the community is so big, that there is a high chance it could benefit other (german) people.

Adding new language channels is never an easy decision, as apart from the effect on the community, we also need mods who could easily moderate the new language that are added.

I think it makes sense what Metagross said, if enough people truly want this experience, to grind and play collection mode, then you won't have a problem finding and hosting matches with said players. And the current implementation accommodates this in unranked. Due to the already mentioned principles of fairness in pvp, as well as having a healthy pvp population, ranked pvp needs to be decided by skill not deck level and bf grind/trade timel so I don't understand the desire to change that for ranked.
As for longevity, it's just artificial longevity, as players are forced to play modes they don't like, just to get on even footing. Even if it is weeks/months, it's still time that is 'wasted' and would feel like a chore, rather than a game you have fun in.
  24. Ultrakool liked a post in a topic by Fraxure022 in Unlimited VS Collection PvP
One of the most critical elements of PvP is having people to play against. The removal of free PvP decks would nuke the population of ranked PvP players. Age of Empires Online learned this same lesson; its PvP scene was virtually non-existent until the introduction of Champion Mode, which removed the disparity between players who grinded out gear and those who hadn’t.

This is one of those things that sounds logical to certain people, but it ignores the facts of human psychology. If I, or almost any other player, find ranked PvP frustrating because it is determined by deck level and not by skill, we’re not going to go out and grind for a PvP deck. We’re just going to not play PvP. If we aren’t playing PvP, queue times will increase, which will further lead to player loss for PvP as people who are less willing to spend their limited playtime in a queue quit PvP as well. If we aren’t playing PvP, eventually neither are you, because you run out of players.

This isn’t about rewarding or not rewarding you for grinding out a deck. This is about ensuring you have players to play against with that deck you spent all that time grinding out. History has shown, every time, that allowing for benefits earned outside of the PvP match being played to impact the outcome of the PvP match, in any game, is unpopular and leads to decreased PvP participation. The majority of PvP gamers want PvP to reflect their skill, so even if you disagree with that, it behooves you to enable it, because it gives you people to play with. That’s why nearly every other MMO has moved to equalize stats in PvP and reduced the impact gear has on it. To paraphrase  Metagross, “you think you want this, but you really, really do not”.

    Greetings fellow Skyfolk,
after reaching a point where it just wouldn't make sense to continue working on the now outdated version of the SMJ-Website, I decided to completely rebuild the website with different tools and development strategies.
The redesigned site is now at a stage of development where I think it is viable enough to replace the old version, which broke with the anniversary patch of 2021 anyway.
The new version can be found here:     https://smj.cards/
The old version is no longer available due to changes made by the hoster heroku that would require paying to host it, but it didn't receive any more updates anyway.
The old version was available here:     https://smj.herokuapp.com/

The new site provides a lot of the features the old one did and more.
There are a few exceptions though, which I haven't implemented yet due to time issues, as I wanted give you access to the new site since the old one doesn't work anymore, but I will reimplement them in a later version:
Deals page Filtering/Sorting the cards by powercost, damage, lifepoints, abilities Using URL parameters to set filters/sorters Aside from these, the new site has other things going for it, which are best experienced by playing around with the site, but just a few that may be of interest to you:
Bigger variety of filters (excluding the ones mentioned above) like:   Playable with certain orb setup   max charges, squad size, starter card, gender, etc.  More price details for each card:   1W/2W/3W/4W Median/Mean/Min/Max   7 Days Daily Meadian micro-chart in the main table view   Differences of current price to 1W median / yestedays daily median to the daily median of one week ago   Short Term chart that updates every 10 minutes but only shows 4 weeks worth of data (limited because of data size reasons)   Long Term OHLC-charts that update every day and give a better sense of price development over a longer period of time compared to a regular single point chart   Card Auction details of what auctions currently exist for each card, when the auctions were approximately started, when they will switch and when they will end (still a small bug in the calculation sometimes, but I will fix that independently of the site)   Average value of the reforged card, when destroying 4 of the same card  General card info:   Maps to get the upgrades from for each card   List of cards that share 5/4/3/2 similarities with the selected card for easier reforging decisions   Button to the wiki page for the card   Button to copy the shorthand card url for sharing  Some other info:    The main search field has a "fuzzy" functionality, try searching "LSS" and you will see what it means 😉    I created my own card IDs to not be as vulnerable to changes to official card IDs (Plague), Promo status (Lord Cyrian), affinity (Sandstorm R -> B), as well as potential name changes    In some cases SMJ IDs as well as official card IDs can be used for some things: The following links will all redirect to https://smj.cards/card/grinder-promo-p: https://smj.cards/7z https://smj.cards/[1607]    All card images are automatically generated from their static data through an api that you are able to use as well, but I will explain how to use it at a later date
The site is still in development and some things might still be subject to change in the future, but I didn't want to make you wait any longer, seeing as the old site doesn't work anymore.
Also, just as an info, the features that the site currently provides represent about 50% of the features that I plan to add in the future. 😉
Just like the previous site, the new one will also only provide information about the prices, the cards were put in the marketplace for and not actual sell prices!

If you find anything that is not working properly or is irritating, please let me know and I will look into it. Also, if you have any specific feature ideas that you think would be useful, don't hesitate in telling me about them and I'll see what I can do. Design/Layout suggestions are also appreciated, as I'm not a designer and just did what came to mind, especially the boosters and card details tables with their cells that display the prieces, which I am not entirely happy with yet.
I hope this little project of mine will be somewhat helpful to you all, as that was my foremost goal from the beginning. 🙂
Thanks and I hope to see you all in the Forge. 😉

    PS:
I would also like to mention that I have a discord server dedicated to the whole SMJ project, where I post about the project more regularly than on the forum and where it's easier to get in touch with me regarding everything related to the SMJ.
You can join the discord server here:     https://discord.gg/m5Dm5fweSV
Over there you are are also able to interact with a discord bot that allows you to set price notifications for cards that you want to buy/sell and a few other usefull features.
Most of the features the bot provides are only listed by the bot itself, but you can read up a little bit of info about it in this forum thread: https://forum.skylords.eu/index.php?/topic/7300-smj-bot
