As you might have known, BattleForge used to be available on Steam both as a demo and a full game. Even now that the game has been removed from Steam, you can still download the demo (the original version that comes with the retail DVD). This is a short guide on how to play SkylordsReborn on Steam using that demo.
    1. Download and extract SkylordsReborn to your PC, say D:\BattleForge.

    2. Run Steam in background. Open up your browser (Firefox, Chrome, etc.) and type this into the address bar: steam://install/24770
A popup menu will ask if you want to open that URL with a specific application, select Steam Client Bootstrapper.

Steam should start downloading BattleForge demo (~2.2GB).
    3. Run the demo from Steam once to start the installation process. Once the launcher shows up, close it.
    4. Copy everything inside the folder from step (1) to the demo installation location, replacing any duplicated files.
    e.g. from D:\BattleForge
    to D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Battleforge
    5. Delete any extra files that are in the demo installation folder but not in the SkylordsReborn folder (from step 1) except these 3 files:
    steam_appid.txt
    settings.ini
    Bootstrapper.exe
    6. Rename Bootstrapper.exe to Bootstrapper.exe.org (think of it as a way of backing up).
    7. Open a command prompt (as admin if you installed the demo in drive C:\), type this and press Enter:
    mklink "D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Battleforge\Bootstrapper.exe" SkylordsRebornUpdater.exe

This should create a new symbolic link called Bootstrapper.exe that will run SkylordsRebornUpdater.exe.

    8. Done. You can now launch SkylordsRebornUpdater by launching BattleForge demo from Steam (just click Play). Steam will try to run Bootstrapper.exe which will just run SkylordsRebornUpdater.exe.
Steam chat should display your profile as "Playing BattleForge Demo" (not playing non-Steam game) and will continue to do so until you exit BattleForge (exact behavior as any other Steam games).

Your playtime will also be recorded in your Steam profile.

There are no vision generation tools in this game, and there is very slow, fragile economy.
If fog of war existed, you'd end up having T1 rushes all the time, or would need to significantly buff towers/other defensive tools. Neither is a good situation.
PvP in Battleforge is a lot of about game knowledge, you must react correctly to what your opponent does. Game would lose a lot of value, if a single unit spam became significantly stronger due to lack of vision - few would invest 100 power into power well in this situation. Game could became "rock paper scizzors", and from my experience it's a very cancer design.

Game meta would change significantly, and probably in a bad direction, or would require new maps pool with significantly larger battlefields. If such maps had much larger starting power, vast area, then perhaps even T4 could be viable in the game. That would be different experience, though.

I did not see a single comment/post/thread similar to yours that states that the game is remotely unplayable, let alone completely.
Even other players tell and prove otherwise, so the only straight out lie here is the one claiming that the state is completely unplayable.
I will not even address other stuff as you fail to realize differences between hardware and software impacts/problems. Hardware as a whole is pretty beasty, however the software is not so much, which you you would expect from a server that was reverse engineered using client binaries, but then again I don't expect that to be understood too.

    Hello.

My unique username on the Internet is fiki574. and my real name is secret. I'm 20 years old male student attending Technical university (Programming part) at my hometown /agreb, Croatia. I've been intersted in coding/scripting with 14 years already. As soon as I turned 15 I got myself involved in a bit serious programming, and then my real learning started. To this day, I've been part of numerous projects, some of which, unfortunately, died or didn't make it living (for those interested in some of the projects: IW4M@fourDeltaOne, APB emulator, IV:MP and COD6@GammaForce). Ever since 2012, I've gotten myself involved with emulation, and now - here I am, pretty experienced in C#, satisfyingly good in C++, decent in reverse engineering. Needless to say, I am self-taught freelancer at this moment, used no books or lessons during my programming education whatsoever. How did I find about this project and why did I join, you may wonder? Well, I found a thread on RageZone forums over a month ago, seen that BF Reborn is looking for new devs, I said hell, why not, I'm just sitting home doing nothing and wasting my skills, could rather help out this people since there are so many interested in this and could keep my programming skills/stamina at peak point. Sent message to @InsaneHawk, applied, got in touch with @Blank, passed his test, joined a week ago, already did ~12 updates to the emulator (read: completely done numerous social features). I kinda like this game's concept since as a kid I used to play a lot TCG and even collect cards. While developing, I'm slowly understanding how this game works and what are the goals of the actual game. From my point of view, I don't need to know/play the game to enjoy developing a server/emulator for it whatsoever. Pure fact that I'm bringing a dead game to life so others can enjoy this long-dead masterpiece is enough for me. Even though I never played this game, seems like I'll be here. Long-term.
  5. Sekij liked a post in a topic by MephistoRoss in UPDATE: BFP Reserves and Boosters
The total bfp you can get with this system is dependent on several factors, like if you didnt play the day before.
So if you didnt play 2 days before the specific day, you can get 550 from daily boost and 450 from quests (1000bfp) in total for 1 hour of playtime. After the first hour the reserve starts which is really depending on how much time you play exactly that day and the breaks inbetween. I would estimate about 350bfp in one day if you play really a lot (which I dont think many will reach in practice), so that would make about 1350bfp in total.
You dont need to play the full 60 minutes with this system to get a reward, if you play 40 minutes you will get the reward for the 40 minutes (unlike the current booster-quest where you get nothing if you play 29minutes). So 40 minutes playtime will let you drain 166bfp from the daily boost if nothing was carried over from previous days.
With these values you need to play 48 minutes to be able to buy a booster each day if nothing was carried over from previous days and you finish 2 quests in that time. The next day you would need to play even less because a part of the leftover daily-boost is transfered to the next day which let you drain the daily boost a bit faster.
Several suggestions like this have been made, but nothing concrete has been decided yet. It is not a priority right now but it will be on the agenda in the future for sure.

It's not our own fault that EA failed miserably and had to shut down this game. Is there any other alternative to playing this game? No, there isn't, so I guess you'll have to wait a tad bit longer for this to come out, whether you like it or not. I've been working on this project for almost 3 years now, and still getting bashed by "people" like you.  We don't owe anything to anyone, let that sink in first!
No one is a passive aggressive b***h, I don't know how you people making psychological assumptions based on a single sentence.
Also, better watch your mouth, you're certainly breaking forum rules.

I agree with you bro, older consoles are a lot better story wise and have had some amazing games as you mentioned. I am just looking forward to see what they do with the ps5 and Xbox 2? (If they call it that). Since ps4 and Xbox One have introduced stuff like VR gaming etc.
I would also like to see more portable consoles, especially with the technology we have today. The Nintendo Switch is an awesome example of game visuals that could rival console games.

B..But new Consoles are shit D: i mean the 8th Gen Consoles where so horrible they had to upgrade midgeneration and the best games for those consoles are remakes, ports from older consoles or sequels that didnt really changed much.

I voted personaly Microsoft and Sony but i think it took only for Sony the vote.... i love the OG Xbox and also the 360 which brought us Achievements which is an awesome feature  and the OG Xbox brought us a good controller (perfected with Xbox 360 release) and nice new IP's also Microsoft pushed the hardware part with Xbox and Xbox 360... not so much with Xbone tho.

Sony mostly for Ps1 similar story as with Xbox brought alot of new games and also i love the ps1 graphics flaire only problem was shitty controller which felt like a ripoff from SNES. And the other Sony console i really like is the PSP .... nice Ps2 Quality games like Valkyria Chronicles 2 and 3, Tekken 6, GTA or even 1 to 1 Port of Star wars Battlefront 2 + beeing able to Emulate a TOn of Systems, all 2D Systems, to some level N64 and Sega Saturn + full perfect emulation of Playstation 1 ALL that for an Portable Device (without shitty touch controlls but having really good button layout) makes it one awesome and unique systems. Only matched by the Ps Vita IF ... the Ps Vita had a stronger homebrew / modding scene but right now its not that advuanced but give it 2-3 years and it will beat the PSP as the Ps Vita should be able to emulate the same systems as the PSP + the PSP it self + having of course the PS Vita games, but still needs time.

I personaly feel that home consoles are obsolet at least the new ones, i love to collect older but new console... dont even understand why to bother they dont even focus on Physical game copys anymore so its like a PC with steam but without cheap games because they sell consoles games even digital version like 10% more expensive.

But i would like to see more Portable consoles they are awesome at least from sony when modable

  13. Sekij liked a post in a topic by Kiwi in what is patreon money used on?
Any donated money will be spent on server upkeep, development and a lot will be saved up for future server upkeep. No money whatsoever will go into our own pockets, and must we have a lot of excess money (beyond our savings for future upkeep), we will make sure this excess money will go to a good cause rather than it being profit.

  15. Sekij liked a post in a topic by rittindentod in Cards Stats - i never understood
As for the first Thing, i don't really know either, but S or M stands for the unit size it is strong against
S = strong against S (small) Units. that means your unit deals 50% more damage to small sized Units. same goes for M, L, XL
The Bow says that your unit is ranged, while a sword stands for melee.
  16. Sekij liked a post in a topic by Treim in Cards Stats - i never understood
The number is the damage/20 sec. A lot of those are actually wrong though.
The bow, sword, star stand respectively for: Ranged, Melee and special attack unit. Special would be considered units with f.e siege bonus.
The letters next to the attack type stand for countersizes. So Forsaken f.e deal 50% more damage against M sized units.

    Really?
Be sure here are people that are FAR older! Always - in every game

I would make a huge bet if you seach long enough you find people in their 60s or 70s in nearly every game

PS: And don't forget, the active forum members are always a small-very small part of a gaming community

There are tons of great moments in anime, it's pretty hard to make a pick, so i will just go ahead and make several.
    SPOILERS AHEAD!
    For me personally:
#1 Griffith's speach to princess Charlote from Berserk (the 97's version and movie version are pretty much on par here imo) (Such a pivotal moment and masterfully delivered, gives great insight into Griffith's character as well as Gutt's reflection on his own dream afterwards. Drives to plot forward in a masterfull way and sets up maybe one of if not the deepest and richest villan character i have ever seen with a whole bunch of forshadowing. This scene gives me shivers every single time and is my #1 moment with no contest)
#2 Zero's requiem from Code Geas 2 (The ultimate redemption of the main character, which also did an incredible job at making himself (seemingly) utterly irredeemable during the last few episodes prior)
#3 Assault of the Boars from Princess Monoke (I legit cried, what a scene! if you haven't seen Mononoke, you haven't lived yet. Was the first anime i saw over 10 years ago and i didn't even know what anime was. What a way to set up high standards...)
#4 The ending of Wolf's Rain (Actually called Wolf's Reign, it's a misstranslation and yes that bothers me. Just when you thought things might actually work out in the end... also that soundtrack gets me every time!)
#5 The ending/tank scene from Ghost in the Shell (Phillosiphical and quite unexpected. Also very nice symbolism and great cinematography)
#6 Naruto vs. Sasuke fight in the valey of the end from the original Naruto (Insane buildup and great delivery. Felt very emotional and personal and the action was amazing as well. Great choreography, animation and cinematography really bring the sheer scale and power in the battle to life)
#7 Final battle in Sword of the Stranger (Again beautiful horeography, animation and cinematography, even better than in Naruto in my opinion and also comes with amazing soundtrack and sound design. Didn't manage to be as emotional as the Naruto fight and that's why i rate it a bit lower)

  20. Sekij liked a post in a topic by Choclateching in too much grinding ?
I think ive never had problems with building decks which are cheap and efficient. Also its only fair that people who play more, get rewarded more. (Ofc. not in an exponential extent)
  21. Sekij liked a post in a topic by MrXLink in too much grinding ?
It's called a soft cap. Say, the first half an hour you get 20BFP, the next half hour you get 19BFP, so you'd get 39 in an hour. Then going to 18BFP the next 30m, 17 half an hour after that, so after 2 hours you'll have 74BFP etc. etc.
It means you'll get more BFP the more you play, but the reward per timeslot decreases slowly. This makes sure that infrequent players will not have too much of a drawback from being unable to play a lot, and rewards players for coming back the day after. This way you can play the game the way you want without having to depend on a certain strategy to get enough out of your playtime. This is described in my post.
