Thanks for the tournament, especially to organizers, casters, players, sponsors, mods and viewers! Had a lot of fun participating  GGs to all!

My glorious exit series (lol) from the tournament in the lower bracket semi finals vs Alphabet got featured on the stream ✌️ next time morklay with the proper upgrades will be there  😄 honestly didn't imagine I'd make it this far, props to @desconhecido and @Eirias who played good games! Until there's an offical replay hub, i uploaded my replays on http://bfleague.com/?view=PVP .
maybe some other players had some notworthy games that weren't on stream? Feel free to share

  6. qudekRa liked a post in a topic by Cocofang in QOL and multiple accounts
Not to mention Activision Blizzard is more than happy to let people use multiple accounts because that means multiple subscriptions. They are multi-dipping individual power users for extra cash. And even then they eventually decided that they have to at least crack down on automated multiboxing because, you guessed it, it provided too big of an advantage over anyone not doing it. Sure, in their case it was purely a business decision. They probably noticed increasing dissatisfaction among the population with only one account that threatened their bottom line more than the multiboxing population benefited it. This simply proves the point that multi accounting that is tied to progression can be extremely troublesome.
You already got an answer from me regarding that but if you want more, I enjoyed the restrictions of having to work with unupgraded and random cards just as much as I now enjoy having a wealth of resources to build decks from. I even often intentionally restrict myself during deckbuilding, using cards that don't normally see use. I liked trying to make what I had work. Overcoming the difficulties despite suboptimal cards. The short- and mid-term goals were really enjoyable. What progression is more lacking are long-term goals and something to do with excess resources.
Please stop pretending like people are getting banned because they innocently want to play the game more. They are getting banned for actively and intentionally undermining the intended design of the progression system in an extremely drastic fashion that would have them advance many times faster than someone that does not. They are not needlessly getting banned. It's not like they are merely trying to get the most out of the progression on their own account. They want to circumvent it entirely.
The example about someone wanting to start fresh because they invested their resources into things they didn't end up enjoying is a bit outlandish. You won't get more gold on a new account, so in both cases, you'd start from 0. On the contrary even, you won't be able to do the content that nets more gold in the beginning, so you'd be even slower. And the "failed" collection can always be liquefied into BFP to buy something else. That scenario you try to sell as the "innocent rookie case for multi accounting" doesn't really exist in that form.
But one big issue I am seeing from this thread is the disregard and lack of understanding for the underlying psychology that game design strives to adhere to. Almost reducing it to surface level statement like "more stuff faster = better" with little context. Psychology is an extraordinarily important aspect that the current design aims to take into account. What is also missing is, more specifically, an analysis about what the current progression system aims to do and how it tries to achieve that. There are also too few to no critical examination of what the issues of proposed adjustments would be. They're merely presented as being "better", which isn't the case at all. Everything has pros and cons, it's a matter of priorities.
One can definitely feel the frustration about progression speed but then it's mostly unguided ranting. It lacks elaborate specifics. All in all, I don't really feel like a lot of helpful thoughts can be salvaged from this. Best anybody can take from this thread is "dissatisfaction noted, guess we can try to figure out something reasonable, maybe". Which, to my understanding, is something that's already actively being worked on.

Hi Skylords, apologies in advance for spelling & in case I picked the wrong subforum.

I recently posted a status update encouraging people to use the replay-website bfleague.com.
5 days ago I got ingame modmail asking me if it's my site or if i'm just using it (see screenshot attached).
Note to devs: It wasn't possible for me to reply ingame!

I'm making this thread for two reasons:
I'm not affiliated with bfleague.com in any way and just stumbled over it in the forums  I think an offical replay hub should be high priority for stronger community bonding , higher player engagement overall and a healthier pvp scene
As mentioned in some forum threads, there has been a replay repository that existed in the battleforge days. Frankly, I do not know who ran it and how much it was really used.
Anecdotally back in the day, my bf homies and I ended up on bfcards.info to check how to beat an expert campaign map. We all started to use the site regulary and watch high rank PvP replays- probably the most defining factor that made us try competing in 1vs1 instead of PvE and 2vs2 only.

Shortly after the skylords release in 2020, i vaguely recall some dev account posting they are "working on their own solution" (for a replay site). I checked the community updates so far, but am not aware of any follow up.
Today, (forum search) the current and "most offical-seeming" reply found on this specific topic was:
If there are any other projects or developement updates i am not aware of please let me know!
I feel the skylords project would be well advised to launch an offical version of this service, and not put in on the usual skylords timeframe (no offense, thanks for all the amazing and time-consuming hornorary work all of you do, but you know what i mean).
Suggestion: set an offical replay site — even if just barebones —  to be a priority to release with the next balancing update.
As @dreaddy has shown, the technical part is already covered. His site just lacks some structure and maybe some bonus features like "show winner". A replays.skylords.eu site like this could also be a good place to feature replays of bigger events like the PvE Community Contests or Toggy's tournaments and make skylords.eu more of a community hub for the playerbase as it currently is.

What do you guys think? Any of you used a replay site back in the day? Do you think a site like this is negligible?

If there have been any offical updates on this topic that were missed, I humbly apologize

    Kind regards

  8. qudekRa liked a post in a topic by Xanatoss in How to make PvP more attractive (Discussion)
I disagree that the solution to pvp attraction is "obviously and simply" more rewards, because if that would be the case, devs would have amped it up already (and gladly i guess).
The main issue is, that pvp for many players is stressful, especially 1v1 because it puts you on the spot. Nobody to blame (except balance :>, though devs doing a great job of improving it) and your opponent preys on your errors unlike the AI in PvE. As I read though, there are PvP-Modes in development which are more like Arcade (like Deathmatch Arena) and therefore less stressful. I think that is a step in the right direction.
There was a chat-discussion recently where players interested in pvp argued that they would get roflstomped by veteran players if they would queue up. I responded that if at least two of those rookie players teamed up, they could play sparring games against each other instead of feeding their ladder points.
Following that thought, I started a format this evening called the "Rookie-Fightclub"  (shameless copycat) and repeatedly invited players via chat to join my spectator 1v1-lobbys to either play, observe or discuss pvp-questions. Main issue so far was driving out the seasoned players who would "just watch"; but by doing so blocked the lobby and startled the rookies away.
Nevertheless my first attempt went promisingly and I am going to continue this format during the next weeks.

NAME: Script on Slave Master doesnt count Slaves correctly
DESCRIPTION: When doing the Solo Challenge for the contest, I'm always late so the Twilight creeps near the slaves. Not just now, many times before I found that the mission ends very abruptly with the "All Slaves have died!"-Message - and I was always thinking "what what, just a moment ago it looked allright? This time I had the camera pointed the right way: The Twilight Dragon cracks the first Cage open, kills the first Slave and the Mission ends with the message mentioned above - but the other cages are still alive and well.
    REPRODUCIBILITY: I guess always.
    SCREENSHOT/VIDEO/LOG:  Overwrote the replay 😞
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: A simple dirty fix would be that you just change the message from "All Slaves have died!" to "The Twilight reached the Slaves!" or something. The other option would be to check how the scripts counts the living slaves, maybe it doesnt find the units while they are still in the cages I guess.

    Greetings Skylords!

It's been two weeks already since our last community update so it's time to bring you up to speed with everything going on in Skylords Reborn!

    Test Server Patch
A new patch has hit the test server, including another batch of balance changes and adjustments. This patch contains many balancing changes and experimental changes for both PvE and PvP, with Frost specifically getting some love this time. We have also sent the first reworked versions of the 2vs2 maps to the test server!
Please take a look at the patch notes, test them out on the test server and take part in the discussion.
A detailed list of changes with images will become available in the wiki in the upcoming days.
There have now been a couple of patches to the test server, resulting in a big difference between the current state of the game on the live server and the card adjustments on the test server. Which brings us to:

    Upcoming Patch
We are now preparing the next patch for the live servers. It has been a while since our last patch, so expect this to be a big one with tons of balance changes for both PvP and PvE. Because of this, we have quite a bit of work ahead of us and we expect this patch to release in the beginning of August. We hope you are looking forward to a new meta with new strategies to play with.
We will share more information about the specific changes in our next community update on the 31st of July.

    New Cards development update
To manage expectations: we will not release new cards in this upcoming patch. As mentioned in a previous community update, we are currently creating new cards for Bandits (Fire/Shadow), Amii (Nature/Shadow) and Pure Frost.
New card development is going well, but we are treading new territory here and want to take our time to make sure our first new cards are the best they could be. This still could take quite a while, but please rest assured we are working hard to give you some cool new cards to play with!
Meanwhile we are continuing rolling out balance patches to give underplayed cards some love, and offer you new strategies and options for all the factions in the game. New cards can be tools to help fill these specific roles, but we are also looking at adjusting existing cards to reach the desired result.
We are also taking a deep dive into each faction separately, spending a lot of time figuring out what makes the faction tick, its strengths and weaknesses and where it could need some help to allow for a more diverse play style.

    Deep Dive: Pure Frost
Frost has been our primary focus for the past several months and our team is excited to finally get to share our work with the community. Attached you will find a document exploring the Frost faction in detail, including upcoming changes and a tease of our first new card!
While Frost has been the first faction on our list, in the future other factions will also be receiving major changes. As our focus shifts from one faction to another we will continue to provide insights into our thinking through future documents like this one.
We hope this look into Frost has helped you to understand both the faction better and our reasoning behind the upcoming changes.

    Hi,
I wrote a replay archive based on the replayparser I made last weekend.
    http://replays.bfleague.com/

Uploading a replay takes about 5 seconds and all values are filled in automaticly, so I hope for many uploads ;).

The design is quite ... "basic". I'll improve it, should the archive get some attention.

I like the idea of more diversity within the free pvp decks.
Especially 2v2 decks could be gateway for new pvp players, as it is considered to be less stressful than 1v1, like in most other rts-games (Starcraft is a good example for this). Additionally, each deck could come with a small description (Interface adjustment @MarcoMaar) what its main dynamics are, to guide player choice; as there is relatively few information available about 2v2 matchups and card-combos.
Furthermore I support the idea of "themed" decks, like the suggested rallying banner Fire/Frost or a Soul Splicer Shadow T1 etc, even (or especially) if these decks are not the strongest meta possible, as that does not matter on lower ranks anyways.
FYI: Within the current system, after one rotation I had Pure Shadow and Pure Fire locked in permanently, because they give me two decks with no overlap and some of the most expensive cards (Harvester, Nether Warp, Cultist Master, Firedancer, Disenchant, Sunderer, Juggernaut) and let me focus on collecting only nature and frost cards, which I prefered for PvE anyways (my first buy was Enlightenment, as during EA times).
  18. qudekRa liked a post in a topic by RadicalX in I'm one of the PvP Players who left and tried to come back, here are my thoughts
First of all thanks for your feedback, agreeing on many of your thoughts here.

To give you some input on the current process as the major aspects you point out are being worked on:
    - We expect meta shifts with the bigger balancing patches, that will come soon: Pure Frost and Fire Frost design upgrades will go live next patch, Bandits might get an even bigger overhaul afterwards considering the process of devoloping new cards started recently
    - We will move towards to a seasonal system soon - cosmetic rewards are being worked on, we didn't fully decide on when and how to distribute them yet
    - We also currently are building a new set of free PvP decks, that will be adjusted due the amount of balancing changes we made up to this point (expect them to be ready with the next patch)
    - And on a sidenote: We nerfed Treespirits together with Phasetower & Mortar to prevent the exact type of oppressive gameplay you seem to be worried about 😄

Some other points like expanding the pool of free PvP decks didn't get discussed yet. I think it should be possible to adjust decks to personal needs within a rather short timeframe - still something I will keep in mind. Making entire color trees accessible won't happen in the near future though. Ladder updates and rank/acitivity distributions might be an important topic to discuss before the seasonal system starts, we might consider making some improvements here.
Generally speaking we want to attract more players towards PvP again with fresh content and an optimized system so any feedback in that regard is always going to be appreciated!

You wouldn't know me. Just know i enjoy competitive RTS and had around 60 ladder games on Skylords, but stopped around march(?), when most PvP players left.
I'm posting this in hope of getting some more opponents on the ladder in the future.

I highly appreciate the map and balance changes, though i guess a little too late, as even during EU rush hours, PvP is mostly quite empty - or maybe right now everyone is just catching up on that sweet vitamin D?

I think there could be some other improvements made to make PvP even more attractive:
Major Issues I see with free PvP Decks:
Some decks are outdated  Example: all Fire T1 Decks still have Mortar Tower. Since the changes only usable by very good players and not suitable for free tier imo. Cards that got viable through balance changes are completely absent as well
Decks are too meta  Kind of a Catch-22. I guess it makes sense to give out the top meta decks defined by the successful players to put everyone on equal footing, but this leads to most folks deviating only by a few cards from the decklist, and the meta reinforces itself. I guess players that are still active now are getting quite creative - but during the PvP Surge a few months back, for 4/5 games felt quite stale  vs the same Lost Souls or Stonekin decks and if new players arrived, this would definitely repeat.
Also it feels like some insanely strong cards get disregarded. Maybe i'm just too nooby... but what about Treespirit?! I think since the phase tower nerf this could easily make Nature T1 the strongest. Quite the unfun card though, so guess i'm glad this isn't played.
Minor Issues I see with free PvP Decks
changing free decks = keeping (half-)empty deck lists  Really not a big deal, just a bit messy and not very elegant imo. Did this bother anyone else?
Deck lists discourage deck building  Free deck lists diminish one of the defining aspects of trading card games: Building your own Deck. To be fair you could still tinker up your deck from scratch, but realistically you'd copy a deck list and change it from there. I think it's a bit of a tricky situation: on one hand, i already conceded that the deck lists were a good addition and I also think having a "foundation deck" is benefical for building new decks, but on the other hand it takes away some of the (impossible to quantify) magic & personal attachement to a deck. Does that make sense? Can you relate?

    My suggestions for free PvP:
I believe all of those issues could be resolved by:
Adding additional Deck lists per faction, like: Themed decks, like Fire+Nature featuring more Twilight Cards Decks built around some specific strategy, like Frost+Fire built around Homesoil + Rallying Banner + Lyrish Knight, Decks with no T3 / Decks with expanded T3 Structure-focused decks A 2vs2 deck with a T4 card "Foundation Decks" with just some core cards + open card slots you could even turn suggestions for new deck lists into a community contest

Giving all PvP Cards // OR // Keeping the rotation-concept, but instead of 2 Decks give 2 complete colours  Again, I'm grateful for free PvP Cards. But overall the "being-locked-out-of-changing-my-style-for-a-week" while not having built up a personal card-/gold-pool yet, + having had a hard time finding a "personal-flair-main-deck" due to the meta staleness  just left me rather frustrated than happy and ultimately lead to me quitting the game once already. Despite being a huge fan of the mechanics.

Introduce a Monthly / Seasonal Ladder + Alltime Ladder  PvE Rankins already have an option to filter the time frame! PvP Ladder right now just shows around 80 active players. For some fresh wind, i suggest a monthly or seasonal (something from weekly to up to 3 months) ladder, that shows just top 100 players (if playerbase is big again maybe 200 again) and starts anew in the next month/season ASAP. At the end of month / season, you could give some goodies like Extra Boosters / Extra Gold / Extra Avatar to high rankers to increase playing incentive. Past Months/Seasons could be saved like in PvE Rankings. Maybe there could even be a non-saved daily ladder ranking with gold/very small bfp reward? I think that could be a better incentive than the PvP daily quests and would would give you an extra pointer to whos active today beside the playerlist in the PvP lobby +maybe we get some interesting rivalries.
Alltime Ladder should be non-resetting and have no activity decay, would be just a acummulation of all seasons(so no extra queue), and show everybody that RadicalX is still boss. Give extra Ranks / Avatar / Frame / Promo to high rankers. Could make a monthly/seasonal ladder feel more interesting when you see an alltime legend is competing.

Edit: Fixed some spelling errors and just some afterthought: Maybe ELO-Rank classes could be rebelanced in general? I remember back in the Battleforge days the highest rank was Legend (Pointy Gold Shield IV). I remember the huge gravitas around the gold ranks. Of course due to the ELO creep gold ranks got common and new ranks were necessary at some point, but with the player base as is, how about balancing the ELO threshold so just around Top 15 Players get gold ranks, and ~top 3 gets teal ranks regardless of ELO ? Could improve the value-feeling of ranks and incite competition

You guys have any thoughts on this?

    First off:
I played Skylords Reborn for almost a month and want to humbly thank everyone in the project for investing so much time to bring back a wonderful game that was ought to be put to rest almost a decade ago  thx.

    Suggestions:
Remove the free pvp decks Replace with every common, uncommon & rare card of the twilight edition, upgraded and charged, (and maybe a few keycards of the other editions) for PvP Reasoning:
Lots of new players starting right now who don't know all the cards yet There's rarely any deeper thought in building your deck when one can pick state of the art meta decks We see lots of orb variety (which is nice) but barely any playstyle variety Building a deck on your own lets new players get a better feel for their cards Base edition still strong enough to build good decks (most free pvp decks consist of 17/20 twilight edition cards) Incentivizes building around your own collection Doesn't bind players to the one week rotation Benefits:
Revitalizes the collecting aspect of the game Giving low ELO players more room for trying out Doesn't really affect high level ELO players who know what to play Opens up the option to bring back edition based booster packs Economic stimulation Bringing back some magic & personal flavour to deck building & the pvp experience Still giving experienced players the opportunity to get quickly into high level pvp I think free pvp cards are vital and I probably wouldn't be playing without them. However, I don't think giving 2 meta decks per week is the best way to go about it. My suggestion for a smarter approach would be to remove the neatly built decks and instead give the players access to a card pool (either all or a core set) - One could argue that it wouldn't make any difference as players would still just build the meta decks, and it would thereby be benefical to keep the system or at least keep the prebuilt decks in the game interface for cloning, but I think this would be a great opportunity to subliminally promote deck variances. I don't think we are neccessarily doing the noobs a favour by just putting the best cards into their decks for them. I'd argue new players should come to the conclusion which cards are good for what reasons on their own. If a player starts getting serious enough about pvp they can still seek out Hirooo's and RadicalX's PvP Guide or any of the other many resources available.
    What do you think?
Big thanks to all the players as well, especially those contributing to the community. Cheers
