I would guess to expand the "latest booster" section isnt much work at all, so I dont think much energy has been diverted to that. If you dont have an direct insider source, I wouldnt assume anything about the work that is done / has been done and how much time and effort this took. Maybe it was a 20 minute thing to introduce the new UI developer with something to show off. Maybe manipulating the UI is much harder then we all think. So maybe, from fellow Skylord to Skylord, it isnt the best plan to start introducing your idea through pointing fingers at the Devs.

Besides that, I like any idea that could reduce inflation, and it was a wise choice to not work something like that out in full detail since most inner workings will be decided by those who do the work anyway - so brainstorming such a idea is awesome. I am still not so sure if introducing a new currency is a good idea. If you get them through gold you can just use gold. If you let them drop randomly after games you have another random element and the RNG gods can be very cruel - you will have voices like "I'm just getting shit cards from boosters and I didnt see one shard for a full month now." In my opinion, in games that already involve RNG, crafting/forging should be the bypass route to get some constant progress, not add another RNG element to get the resource and another RNG element what you get out of spending those shards. Thats very, very risky and such a system will have winners and loser, thats not the spirit of crafting/forging something.

So the most logic thing would be that you combine a card disenchant feature that requires card(s) to be destroyed (which would be healthy for the economy) and a gold sink to get you STUFF. What would be nice is that if you add more/better cards/gold you get more/better stuff. But I would organize them in tiers - add 8 common cards you get one of this minor stuff items, add 8 uncommon cards you get the medium stuff items, add 8 rares and you get one of the major stuff items - so it will be more predictable. I would hand out (mini?) booster as a very rare occation, but your ideas with cosmetic elements or temporary enhancement buffs are very cool. If those buffs and elements could be represented by cards you could even deepen the economy by making them tradeable. I'm a newbie that needs bfp rather then a rare border/avatar/... ? I can sell it to a big fat dude who has everything else already, and the bfp will flow from the rich to the poor. Minor items could (should?) be designed to be minor enough that you can give it to someone you like for free, as a 'thank you', etc.

Long story short - not more RNG please. I see the (large) number of people that sell boosters instead of opening them as a sign that boosters themselves are risky enough.

Very well written post, and a good mixture of already known stuff (at least for those who follow regularly) and new info. If you keep up this style its interesting for the "freaks" but still a excellent summary for those who dont follow that closely.
What I hope for in one of the next updates is a more long-term roadmap for the future, like you already did with information on new maps in this update. Not with any promises when stuff will be done, but what you guys envision for adding new skins, factions, cards etc.
Oh and of course the number one priority on my mind. (Sorry couldnt resist.)

nice, thanks so much for taking care of this issue. a good solution to not screw over those who have been there at the beginning, since they decide if they want to keep it or sell it for the price they deem acceptable. we will see the price I have to pay, but gaining any form of access puts my mind at ease that I make my completionist heart whole. Only one thing left to say:

    WTB Promo Snapjaws
  5. Kaliber84 liked a post in a topic by Kapo in Promo Snapjaws vs. Completionists - and a possible solution...
Dear Skylord, Skyladies and other Skyfolk; Yes - this is my official Whine-Thread about the Promo Snapjaws, begging the Devs for mercy for me and other Completionists.
For as long as I can think, my playstyle of any game was a completionists approach. If there are achievements I go even for the craziest ones, go for every aspect of a game no matter if its PvP/PvE/whatever, in simple words: I gotta catch them all. When I encounter other players, usually I have the expierience that Completionists are not super rare, but not that many players want to do "everything", especially if there are low or no rewards for it.
When I joined Skylords Reborn, my timing was kinda unfortunate: Severy other players said I should enter the PROMOMOUNTAINEER code, and they were surprised that the code has become invalid - so I guess I joined shortly after it ran out. I got myself two good decks and started my usual jouney: unlock all maps, do achievements, do all expert maps while collect all nature cards first, then all legendaries, then all frost cards, and so on. In the collectible card aspect, I'm about to finish with just 3 promos missing, and the closer I get to this finish line, the more my mind returns to the snapjaws. Its "THE MISSING CARD", and people like me are bothered by this greatly. Especially, since there is no information out there if it might return or not. Asking about it brought to light that the devs have not decided upon this.
I totally understand the concept of rewards for a special group of people. Get something very special under this-and-that circumstances, and the rest is left out. Like, "this is the reward for the people who have been there since the beginning". In other games, I am usually on the side that has the reward already, and encountered multiple times that restriction have been loosened or removed, and some special titles/items/... havent been that special anymore. But to be honest, after the first impulse that my "hard work" didnt pay off subsided I didnt care that much for long. Usually you have lots of other stuff to show off, and if some things are devalued, sooner or later it always happens as long developers are still changing and developing the game.
Long story short, here are my suggestions what to do in that aspect, in hope that the devs take this into consideration:
    1. Make an annoucement that Promo Snapjaws will never be obtainable again, and it stays a special reward for those who have been there from the start. While I wouldnt be super happy about this, it gives some peace of mind. Its better then the current state of them, where nobody knows nothing and false hope can rise.
    2. Make them available once a year like Santa or Easter egg, e.g. on the release date as Skylords Reborn "Birthday" card or something similar.
    3. (this is my favourite option) Since only completionists are bothered by this, make an Achievement to "Collect X cards" and the final achievement for having one of every card is the Snapjaws. So, if you really care, you can work towards it. You may or may not include Promos in that achievement, with Promos it would be incredible hard, but real Completionists will work toward it anyway. no matter how hard it is. Sidenote: Since Battleforge has an collectible card game aspect to it, I was very surprised that there isnt a "Collect X cards" achievement already.
    4. Any other crazy Achievement would be welcome too, if it fits more in the general roadmap of Devs plans for new Achievements. "Play X games with Snapjaws in your deck", "Win a expert map with at least X Legendary cards" or whatever - in the style of the Dragonkin achievement.
Of course I talked to several people how they feel about this issue, and in some cases they brought it up because they share the same fate as I do. To be honest I have no idea how much opposition this ideas generate inside the community, especially amongst those who have been really there since the beginning. And I feel those people should be rewarded, maybe with some special title, avatars or something. But for those who joined later its harsh for Completionists that the reward is something important like a promo card.
So, that is my Suggestion/Whine. Hope to hear from the devs regarding this issue, even a statement like (1.) would be welcomed, to put the minds at rest.

You will have to defend a number of attacking waves and defeat the boss to clear the map. You can also choose to let the next attack phase start earlier if you do not need the full recovery break in between waves. The challenge is to finish the map as soon as possible, but you will have to defeat the same amount of enemies.
In the future there will also be a survival defense map where you have to hold out as long as possible.

Your prayers regarding the best promo card in the game have been answered! (see your topic)
As for the roadmap, I actually wanted to reply to that in a FAQ-corner at the end of the update, but ended up scrapping that area since the update was already quite big and I answered the other questions already in the past 2 weeks. (I might make a general FAQ at some point though). Anyway, regarding your question: the team has been changed quite a bit over the last month so we are still trying to figure out what the best workflow will be. Because of that we have not been able to make a clear roadmap, but in the future that will be the plan. Nothing definitive I can share yet, but hopefully in future updates I can shed more light on this.

    Greetings Skylords!

It's been two weeks since our first community update so it's time to bring you up to speed with everything going on in Skylords Reborn!
PvP Balance Patch 2 (Patch 400028)
We released a patch filled with balance changes this week. You can check out the detailed patch notes on the Wiki.
Some 1vs1 maps have also been changed (no more offensive walling!) and are now added to ranked play as well.
In the meantime, we are already setting our sights on Balance Patch 3. You can check out the upcoming changes in the document attached to this post. Those changes will hit the test server much earlier than the previous ones. This is an intended move as it allows us to work with more iterations to make sure a lot of fine tuning can be done. This patch is focused more on buffs, and many of the changes will bring some new strategies into the Forge, that require more testing compared to the previous process. On top of that this will also be an opportunity for you to test the changes a little bit longer as well to provide more playtesting feedback, that we can use to reevaluate our proposals. To join the discussion, please check out the balance discord.

    PvE: State of PvE

This is the second Balance Patch focused on mostly PvP changes. We understand this might give the impression PvE is less important for us. We would like to take a bit of time to assure you this is not the case and give you an idea of things that are currently being worked on.
First of all, you can expect our Design Philosphy to be shared soon. This document was a bit delayed, but we think it's important to have a clear vision of the PvE scene going forward so everyone knows what to expect and give a better explanation of why we do the things we do.
Of course you can always share your personal feedback in the balance discord, even if we don't respond immediately, all the feedback is important to us and is discussed. We are also planning to restructure the balance discord, you will hear more on that subject soon.
PvE is a lot harder to balance than PvP, because the playerbase is very divided on what they consider fun, fair, or part of the coregame. We know not everyone will agree with all the changes we will make in the future. We encourage you to provide feedback, but please do so in a constructed manner. We are all fans of the game, and we want what's best for it.
    PvE: Patch
Speaking of changes, there is also a PvE patch coming up. Just like with our PvP patches, we will test those changes out on the Test Server first and make adjustments where necessary. You can find all the upcoming changes in the document attached to this post.

    PvE: In Development
Some cool things are also coming to PvE in the future. They are currently in various stages of development.
    - Defensive Random PvE mode
Similar to a 4 player Random PvE, but instead of attacking you are defending against random enemies. We hope this will provide a fun twist to the rPvE scene.

    - Random PvE presets rework
We are reworking existing rPvE factions and adding the 4 basic elements as factions. This means in the future you might go up against Harvesters and Fire Dragons.
    - Polishing Battle Arena
Some of you might already be familiar with Battle Arena, a fun PvP map where you get one random unit and have to score points by killing the other units. Once your unit dies, you get a new one and move slowly up the tiers.
    - New World Map Overview
Still in its early stages, but we are also considering adjusting the world map to include popular PvE community maps. There are some great gems hidden in the community map section and there might be great content waiting for you out there already that you have never discovered.
Most of those things are not ready to go public yet, and we will use the community updates to keep you up to date on their progress. We found it important to share them with you already to show we have definitely not forgotten the PvE scene. We are always in need of map testers, map artists and map creators however, so if you want to help, please check out our open positions.

    Public Test Server
Some of you might not be aware of how easy it is to play on the test server, so here is a quick reminder. To get to the test server, all you have to do is start "LauncherTest.exe" in you Battleforge folder. On the test server you can check out the new changes that are currently being tested and provide feedback on the balancing discord. To get back to the official server, all you have to do is launch the normal launcher again.

    Upcoming Tournaments

    • Skylords Open 7
This sunday (9th of May) you can again battle it out in the Skylords Open #7. A 1vs1 community tournament hosted by Toggy, open for everyone, and with prices!
    • Community Challenge 3
There is also a PvE contest going on until the 31th of May. Try to complete the community map King's Ridge as fast as you can in the Community Challange #3 for a chance to win some prices!
There are also some new events in the works, which brings us to the next point:

    New Team Members
We are happy to announce two new team members have joined the Skylords Reborn team.
First up is Minashigo Hiko, our new Event Organiser. He will be the go-to person for people who want to organize an event in Skylords Reborn. Got a cool PvE contest idea or do you want to host a PvP tournament so Toggy can actually play instead of host? Please contact Hiko and he will help you make it happen! Hiko is also hard at work at creating fun events for you to play, so look forward to that as well.
We would like to point out that the event organizer role is not exclusive. If you want to help organizing events, you can still apply for this position as well.
We are also very excited to have MarcoMaar join the team as our new Client Developer. He will be responsible for adding new features, modifying user interfaces, or fixing bugs in our game client. Up until recently, he was working on a new ingame section, where you are able to see all of your opened boosters. Below, you can see a sneak peek of this new feature

We are still looking for new team members however! For example, we currently have a lack of Discord Moderators, which actually prevents us from being very active with our marketing (in the current state we would risk being overrun with new players without moderators). If you want to see Skylords Reborn succeed, please take a look at how you can help. We will also added new positions: backend web developer, frontend web developer and C# developer.

    List of Discord channels
Skylords Reborn is a big project, and it can be tricky to keep track of everything that is going on. To help you with this we have started these very community updates, but if you want to be right there where the discussions are, discord is the place to be. Below you can find a complete list of all Skylords Reborn discords and their roles. If a discord channel is missing, please reach out to @Majora. We also created a #discord channel in our official server where you can also find the list of servers.

    Hi there,
I didnt have any times yet exploring Community Maps much, but the current Challenge lead finally me to that section of the game. And frankly, the List is a total mess. I just wanted to download and start Kings Ridge, but it took me forever to find it. From what I hear there are some maps that are really good, but I dont want to either test or ask around much, most people just want to "jump into a good game". So long story short, there is a huge accessability wall turning you away when you stare at that list.
My suggestions to solve this would be:
    a) Enforce Naming Conventions for the map, in part they already exist (e.g. RPVE at the beginning)
    b) Sorting the List alphabetically, right now any already existing naming convention is no help at all since all starting with "RPVE" are still all over the place.
    c) Even better, make colums with categories (type of map, number of players, etc.)
    d) Add some kind of rating information - I know taste is subjective, but a Rating how finished the map is would be very appreciated. Just 5 Starts or something. Not how much you like it, but if its bugged or half-finished or in a polished state, like (0 - unplayable, 1 - still completly unfinished, 2 - half-done with bugs, 3 working with minor bugs, 4 working fine, 5 realy finished and polished).
If, due to technical limitations, none of this is possible even a Forum Thread or Wiki-Post containing this information would help ALOT. People wouldnt have to dive through the Jungle and end up frustrated.
Even just a small forum post with 5 or 10 maps that get a "Brannoc approved" badge would help alot.

    Hello Skylords and Skyladies,
    Another month, another PvE Contest!
This time it is something special, because we are going to play community maps!
    The Map
The map this contest is held on is called "King's Ridge". It is a community map made by Spitzkopf and polished by Emmaerzeh.
In order to play the map, you have to go to the community maps section at the very bottom right of the world map and select King's Ridge from the menu.
Emmaerzeh also made a video, in which he shows the map and plays it:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcXKP6QsG9o
    What?
We are having a Speedrun contest on the community map King's Ridge with extra rules.
The contest is split into two different challenges:
    1. The silver challenge:
The silver challenge is the easier version of the contest. In order to compete in the silver challenge, you have to beat King's Ridge on Advanced difficulty without the use of Amii Monument and Enlightenment.
Send me the replay of your fastest attempt via discord or here on the forums. You can find the replays under Documents=>battleforge=>replays.
    2. The gold challenge:
The gold challenge is the hard mode of the contest for those of you, who seek a more difficult challenge! In order to compete in the gold challenge, you have to beat King's Ridge on Expert difficulty without the use of Amii Monument with a pure deck. You are allowed to use Enlightenment in a pure nature deck, but only to cast nature T4 cards.
There will be separate prices for each pure faction, so you are allowed to compete in all of them at once!
Send me the replay of your fastest attempt via discord or here on the forums. You can find the replays under Documents=>battleforge=>replays.

    Until when?
The challenge will be held through the entire month of May. Send me your replay(s) via Discord or the forum until Monday, 31st of May 2021 23:59 (11:59 pm). Please only send your quickest and last replay you want to submit for each category.
Please, also send me your current best time (just the time, not the replay) by Sunday, 23rd of May 2021. This is not obligatory in order to submit a final time. I will post these times annonymously, so that everyone can check, how well they are doing up to that point.

    Prize pool!

Where can I find the winning replays?

    Hi there,
I didnt have any times yet exploring Community Maps much, but the current Challenge lead finally me to that section of the game.

Hi! New player here, I am enjoying game very much so far. I've never played Battleforge before, so this is new experience for me and I can share some feedback from the perspective of a brand new player.
The idea of this game is great and the mechanics are quite simple and intuitive. However I struggled a bit with getting to know cards and with deckbuilding - which is quite common in all card games, but can be more or less improved.
The thing that this games lack in my opinion is the possibility to view all cards available in game, with already owned cards highlited (not only cards that you own, which is the case now). It would greatly improve deckbuilding possibilities and players creativity - you would be able to always check which cards would improve your deck or which ones fits best, which ones would create best synergy and so on. This would also help new players to get to know cards better.
I hope you'll find those suggestions helpful.
    Cheers!

    Hey everyone,

we're glad to tell you we have found a volunteer for a role which has been unfilled for quite a while! We would like to welcome @Minashigo Hiko to the team. As an event organizer he will be responsible to design and organize official events and tournaments from start to finish. He will research new and fun event ideas, design the event and rewards, organize the event and ensure it runs smoothly as a whole. One of the first things he will be working on is a new PvE challenge, so be on the lookout for announcements in the upcoming weeks ! If you are a member of the community who's also interested in making your own events, you can reach out to him if you have any questions, or if you need to get sponsoring for your events. Alternatively, you can also reach out to him if you wish to help him out with the events by e.g. moderating, casting, or designing them. We're really glad he's part of the team now, and are highly anticipating the first official event in Skylords Reborn!

    Best regards, Skylords Reborn Team.

    Greetings Skylords, Skyladies and Skyfolks!
Today we're happy to announce our new client developer @MarcoMaar joining the team! He will be responsible for adding new features, modifying user interfaces, or fixing bugs in our game client. Up until recently, he was working on a new ingame section, where you are able to see all of your opened boosters. Below, you can see a sneak peek of this new feature. We're very excited to have him with us, and are looking forward to his future contributions!

    Best regards, Skylords Reborn Team.

  25. Kapo liked a post in a topic by Xamos in Consistency - Swap affinities of Twilight Creeper and Bandit Artillery
Good point, I think that's something that the SR description team likes to adjust, right?
I found more inconsistencies: Mumbo-jumbo and Frost bite both have a fire and a shadow affinity, tho one does make the unit take more dmg on the fire one and the other one hast the same effect on the shadow one.
I suggest changing Frost Bite - swap their affinitys and also change the one where the unit attacks at a slower pace to frost.
