What is Tome?

Tome was a PvP game mode in the original BattleForge where players had to build their decks with cards from boosters.
Aka: Random cards. It often happens that you can’t play the way you like because you are missing cards, and sometimes, this leads to the birth of new strategies.

Special Rule

1. All players will have 8 general boosters + 2 Wild boosters (you can choose if you want to take a faction booster for example)
    and can reforge 5 times.
      

2. If you advance to Stage 2 (Top 4 of Swiss), you will get 2 more general + 2 more Wild boosters and 2 more Reforges
      

3. Reforged Cards and the result of it is visible for all players.
Keep in mind you can´t use cards which have been reforged!

 Organization

For easier management of boosters, we will use my website: https://tome.t1421.de

On this website, players can open their boosters, see the progress of opened boosters of all players and reforge if they want.
There is also a filter code that can be added to your "custom_filter_extensions.json" for easier deck-building in the game.
As well as a newly added deck checking function, with the Export-Deck function.

To join, you will need Discord. All Players will be on one Discord server for easier communication.

Format

Stage 1 is 4 Rounds of Swiss, which means you will play 4 matches, regardless of whether you win or lose.
Stage 2 is a Single elimination for the Top 4 players from Stage 1. We also play the match to decide the 3rd place.
All matches will be Best of 3, which means you play against your opponent until one of you gets 2 wins.
The pairings will be shuffled before the start of the tournament.

Rules

1. The tournament will be held on the Test Server! Because you have all the cards there.
2. Disconnecting during a game will result in a default loss. If both sides agree, it is possible to have a rematch.
3. Not showing up to your match after 15 minutes results in a default loss. The plan is to play a round of matches every ~30 minutes.
4. After your match, go to Challonge and insert the result. This can be done by clicking on your match and selecting the winner/stats.
    The brackets/match list will be updated automatically after all players have finished their matches.
5. The Map Pool is: Taros, Haladur, Simai, Elyon, Lajesh, Uro and Yrmia.
6. The map of round one will be Taros. Against the second opponent, you will play on Haladur, third Simai, etc. (I will make notes in Challonge)
7. You can only win prizes if you play your matches during the event.
8. Have fun and don’t be an idiot!

Tournament Format

We play 1vs1, Best of 3, with double elimination.
So if you lose your first set, you are not out! You can make your way to the final in the lower bracket.
The grand final will be a Best of 5.
The bracket will be shuffled before the start of the tournament.

2. Disconnection during a game will result in a default loss. If both sides agree, it is possible to have a rematch.

4. After your match, go to Challonge and insert the result. This is done by clicking on your match and selecting the winner/stats.
   The brackets/match list will be updated automatically after all have finished their match.

But now that the Season has changed, we don’t know what to do with them and run out of space.
So it’s time to clean up and start the:

After The Bandit Hunt in 2021 by @Minashigo Hiko and the The Stonekin Hunt in 2023 by @Volin i'd like to continue the tradition with the same set of rules:

1. Play the 4 Player RPVE Map Of the Season Advanced++ against the Pure Twilight Faction
2. Each player has to play a different Pure Coloured Deck (Fire, Shadow, Nature, Frost), No colorless cards
3. Open all Gold Chests
4. Be as fast as possible and end the game with a victory

The answer is yes if one of these applies to you:
- Do you have a Silver rank PvP or lower? ( <112.000 ELO)
- Is your PvP - Win/Loose ratio below 60%?
- Do you feel like a rookie?

Free PvP Decks and Getting Started

There are free, fully upgraded decks for playing PvP. I highly recommend playing with one of these.
You can select 2 every 24h with the button in the bottom left corner of your deck overview screen.

If you want guidelines on where to start with PvP, feel free to leave a message in the "PvP-Talk" channel on the official SR-Discord Server.
There are many players happy to help out. @Eirias Streams PvP matches on YouTube where he answers questions and expands on things, as well as doing live coaching if you are interested.

All you need to know

You can join here on Challonge. (check rules beforehand)

Challonge is set up for Team Registration: That means one player registers and will receive a link.
Send this link to your teammate for registration.

Don't worry. Just leave a message here, and I'm sure we can find another player with the same problem for you to pair up with.

Tournament Format

Round Robin means your team will battle each opposing team in one set of matches. So if we have 6 Teams total, you play against 5 opponents.
Best of 3 means you need to win two out of three games to decide the winner of that set.
The pairings will be shuffled before the start of the tournament.

Rules

1. CARD BAN:
   - Each team is allowed to ban 2 Cards from the opponent's team. (affinities count as two separate cards)
   - The card ban applies to all matches of this Bo3.
   - Card selection happens alternately, so Team1-Card1, Team2-Card1, Team1-Card2, Team2-Card2
   - The team that locks-in the deck last in the first match starts the ban sequence in the subsequent match. (See rule 😎
   - Tier 1 cards can't be banned!

This event is mainly for fun. If you are at the top of PVP you most likely have all the cards you like. So we decided to do something new and special:
The winner will be rewarded the "Grandmaster" Title in Discord and in the Forum.
The title will move to the next Grandmaster at the start of 2027 (or stay with the winner if he wins again).

FAQ

Let's start the Event year of 2026 with a kind of event were everyone can win.

The Challenge:

• Play and win the Community map "The Soultree Bounty"
  The map "The Soultree Bounty" is identical to the normal Soultree map, but ends as soon as you kill the last unit of the first big wave.
  Right when Viridya travels to the Soultree.
• Play on expert difficulty
   
• You are only allowed to play up to 2 different cards.
  You can summon / cast / build these two cards as often as you like.
  The amount does not effects any ranking.
• You may only use cards from Tier 1 and Tier 2.

The Ranking:

Mini Ranking:
   If you upload at least one valid run you receive one Mini Booster.

General Ranking:
   If you upload five or more runs with different decks the mini booster will be upgraded to a General Booster.

Unique Deck Ranking:
   Each card in your deck receives points equal to the amount of uploaded runs with that card in it.
   For example your deck contains Pyromaniac which was used 100 times, and Sunstriders with 20 uses. Your points would be 120.
   The lower your points the higher your rank. (Tie breaker fastest run -> then upload date)
   There are separate rankings for one and two card runs.
   There is one Point-Pool. That mens the 100 uses of Pyromaniac also apply to a One-Card-Run!

The SR-Team, as well as the Team of Phenomic back then, did a great job in balancing the PvE Maps.
But have you ever asked yourself, how it would feel to do a solo map with 4 Players?

The Challenge:

Play and win the Community map "TEAM - Behind Enemy Lines" on advanced or higher
It's that simple 🙂 

The Ranking:

Main Ranking:
   Beat the map as fast as possible on a difficulty you feel comfortable with.
   An Expert run always ranks higher than an Advanced one.

Synchronisation Ranking:
   The cost of all played cards will be compared to each other, and the biggest difference will be used to rank your run.
   The lower the difference, the better the ranking. Example:
       Player 1 = 1.000
       Player 2 =    800
       Player 3 = 1.500
       Player 4 = 1.200
   The highest difference is between Player 2 and Player 3, so the Score would be 700.
   -> YOU CAN ONLY JOIN THE RANKING AS A 4-PLAYER TEAM <-

Changes to the Map:

- 1 Player -> 4 Players
- Starting wells 3 -> 2
- Starting Power / Void increased
- Reposition Buildings in camps
- Removal of 2 Power Wells in the middle

   Each Player can only have one Orb in each of the base groups - so Max T3

Important note: Of course there is no obligation for the SR Team to make any entry into a real card – but a good idea that really fits into the game has a lot of power. All card designs will be heard, seen and judged anonymously and without any barrier of entry.

As seen in the video, we mean serious business: Three entries of the first card design contest made it into the game, and the designers valued the creativity and ideas of several other entries. You might want to check out the previous card design contest for inspiration.
 

Rules:

• You are limited to a maximum of TWO entries - if you win on both, you will receive the higher prize. In case you submit more than two, the last two received entries will enter the contest (unless you state otherwise)
   
• Your idea must be a NEW card idea/concept  (NOT a rework of an already existing card or a Promo card), be aware that this the main criterion for jurors 
   
• ONE of your submissions may be a Meme card, but be advised that the winners on the Meme tier are highly limited and not the focus of this contest 
   
• Units and buildings MUST be fitting for an already existing model (this is a technical limitation, but re-texturing can do wonders)
   
• Unfortunately, we also can't allow for Fire/Frost or Rainbow-cards (or any other outside the known factions, due to technical and/or conceptual limitations)

• Upgrade Levels (submit a fully upgraded design)
• Number of Charges
• Artwork for the card (you may provide one, but this does not affect your winning chance)

At the end of the contest, we may make a compilation of the entries – by participating, you automatically agree to be included in that.
 

Suggestions:

In preparation for this contest, we asked the jurors to drop some hints on what is needed for a good design.

• You might not want to create a new super-powerful card, but a card that's interesting. Maybe it fills a special niche case in a faction (like Burning Spears), or it is special or meme-worthy (like Easter Egg).
• Balance is important! The best cards are useful, fill essential roles, and are not overpowered.
• If you design a T1 or T2 card, think about PvP implications.
• You might want to check out the first card design contest and its entries to be on top of previous, already submitted ideas.
• Fit the card to the faction: Think about the intentional strengths and weaknesses of each faction. Potentially, you see an extremely missing card in an arsenal, but that could be part of that faction's design. Also, breaking core rules of the game requires a very, very, very good reason. For both topics, see: Design Philosophy Document.
• You are allowed to submit a legendary (neutral) card, but please note those are much harder to design and balance properly.

Voting Criteria and Prize Tiers:

PLATINUM TIER

Platinum tier are creations that will actively be considered to be implemented into the game. They must not be all-around perfect, since someone who is not on the SR team is unaware of all the steps required when implementing cards. Platinum entries are cool, captivating and would be a great addition to the game.

Platinum tier winners will win a low-grade promo of choice (e.g., Fallen Skyelf, Lyrish Knight or Rogan Kayle) or Ultra-Rare of their choice of similar value (Infect, Forest Elder etc.). Should your card someday make it into the game, you will get a copy for your own collection.
 

GOLD TIER

Gold tier suggestions are cool and interesting suggestions, but are lacking significantly in ONE (but only one!) way:

• Unbalanced design with no way to repair that
• Clearly impossible to implement 
• Too niche to be worth the implementation
• Not fitting for any faction or into the game
• Not really a fitting, existing model in the game
• Too draining on SR team resources
• etc.

Gold tier winners will win two booster-packs.
 

SILVER TIER

Silver Tier suggestions are solid suggestions, but are lacking in more than one way to make it into the game. For examples of what could cause issues, see the mentioned list above.

Silver tier winners will win a booster-pack.

  MEME TIER

While it is not the focus of the contest, even fierce Skylords value some funny memes. Very few selected, exceptional meme entries will be presented as Meme tier winners.

Tournament Format

We play 1vs1, Best of 3, with double elimination.
So if you lose your first set, you are not out! You can make your way to the finals in the lower bracket.
The grand final will be a Best of 5. The Player of the Main bracket will have one match advantage.
The bracket will be shuffled before the start of the tournament.

Rules

1. The tournament will be held on the Live Server! I highly recommend using a Free PvP Deck.
2. Disconnecting during a game will result in a default loss. If both sides agree, it is possible to have a rematch.
3. Not showing up to your match after 15 minutes results in a default loss. The plan is to play a round of matches every ~30 minutes.
4. After your match, go to Challonge and insert the result. This is done by clicking on your match and selecting the winner/stats.
   The brackets/match list will be updated automatically after all have finished their match.
5. The Maps Pool consists of: Taros, Haladur, Simai, Elyon, Lajesh, Uro and Yrmia.
6. The map of round one will be Taros; after that, it's the loser's choice.
   Against the second opponent, you start with Haladur. Third Simai, etc. (I will make notes in Challonge)
7. The first deck lock is done by a coin flip. (/roll 1) After that, the winner has to lock in first.
8. You can only win prizes if you show up to the event and play your matches.

There are free, fully upgraded decks for playing PvP. I highly recommend playing with one of these.
You can select 2 every 24h with the button in the bottom left corner of your deck overview screen.

If you want guidelines on where to start with PvP, feel free to leave a message in the "PvP-Talk" channel on the official SR-Discord Server.
There are many players happy to help out. @Eirias Streams PvP matches on YouTube where he answers questions and expands on things, as well as doing live coaching if you are interested.

Can you believe it? In August 2022, I held the first Battle of Tactics, and today, 3 Years later, we have arrived at Number 10.
And this one is a big one!

The Challenge:

The challenge is quite easy: Take a Teammate and finish a custom version of "Into The Jungle" as fast as possible.
But what is the catch? -> IT IS NOW A PVP MAP!!! 

The Goal stays the same: Beat the map and defeat Terra as a Team.

What is the main difference to a PvE Map?
- You can damage your teammate, but you can´t heal them.
- Both players have their own fog of war and ground presence.
- You need to play the event in the PvP-Sparring section.

Changes to the Map can be found in the FAQ Section.

Ranking:

Collection Ranking:
- Finish the Map as fast as possible.
- You may use any cards you want.

Free PvP Ranking:
- Finish the Map as fast as possible.
- You may only use cards from the Free PvP Card Pool.
  (You do not need to play a preset Free PvP Deck, and you can make your own. Only the card Pool is restricted)

After a lot of feedback at the end of the “Seven Strategy Showdown,” I decided to make a PVP version of the SSS7 Map -> Egg Ball!!!

Rules:

Event Rules:
1. The event's format is Swiss-System. This will include 6 Rounds of play for each player. Each match is determined by 'Best of One'.
    You will be matched with players of equal skill levels.

2. The 4 most successful players will go into the final rounds.
    All matches will be 'Best of One' as well.

3. After each match, be sure to write down the final score/goals so that you can insert them into the Tournament score sheet on Challonge.
    If you forget to record your score, you can rewatch your replay to find it.

General PvP Tournament Rules:
4. The tournament will be held on the Live-Server!
5. Use your in-game username when you sign up in Challonge. This makes it easier to find your opponent.
6. Disconnecting during a game or leaving before the end, results in a default loss. If both sides agree, it is possible to have a remake.
7. Not attending your match after 5 minutes results in a default loss.
8. After your match, insert the results into Challonge. That is done by clicking on your match and inserting your final score / points of your match.

I thank everyone who contributed to this project. I've been working in a voluntary setting for years as well and might have an understanding of what many of you go through. So many improvements and additions. How you managed to do all this, whithout even having access to the source code, is beyond my comprehension. I hope that one day you get that access, even if it's just limited to bugfixing purposes.

One of the latest additions to the game, the Fire Wormlings, caused alot of headache, yet are a really cool unit. They represent many aspects of voluntary work. And sometimes, no matter how much love you put into something, it can't be fixed.

For this whole month, August 2025, I will change my ingame profile picture to honour the work that all the volunteers put into this project. And I encourage everyone to do the same. Pick a picture of any of the changes that were made to the original. Pick one that speaks to you. For me it's the wormlings. The cute little buggers deserve a place in the game. Despite the model causing technical problems that would need source code access to fix, I hope that you decide to keep them in the game wherever they don't cause problems, like artwork. In memoriam of the work that went into them.

May the big Skylord grant access to the code one day. Until then, rest in peace, little buggers ❤️

Play the Community map "Crystal Clear Intentions".
You need to defend waves on different tiers of levels, but without building any structures,
while keeping Crag, the friendly elemental, safe.

The Ranking:

Main Ranking:
   Beat the map as fast as possible on a difficulty you feel comfortable with.
   An Expert run always ranks higher than an Advanced one. The same applies to Advanced and Standard.

Crystal Ranking:
   On the Map will spawn "Anger Crystals". Can you destroy them all in time?.

Crystal Ranking:

When you destroy one Crystal, you get one random common card:

Destroying two will add a random Rare Card:

Three will add a random Ultra Rare Card:

Destroying all Crystals will add 500 BFP:

Random Draw:
For every 10 Players in the event, 5 Fire Boosters will be added to the random draw.
So 10 Players = 5 Boosters, 20 Players =10 Boosters, etc.

Every Player with a PvE Rank below or equal to Level 10  will receive a Wrathgazer.

Today I have an exciting challenge for a Team of 3 Players.
All praise The Great Mage Magician.

The Challenge:

You play a Community map, a modified version of Ravens End (changes can be found in the FAQ section)

Positions 1 & 3 are Generals -> That means you can only play Units
Position 2 is the Great Mage Magician -> You can only use Spells

The Orb-Level of the Great Mage Magician is tied to the Orb-Level of his Generals.
So if both are Tier 2, he will gain access to Tier 2 spells.

The Great Mage Magician is a powerful wizard capable of casting spells of all colours.

For additional support, the Great Mage Magician can use a "Life Stream" Building in the center of the map.

Currently Fire Wormlings can cause problems in multiplayer matches, for that reason I sadly have to ban the card from this event.

Ranking:

Main Ranking:
- Finish the map as fast as possible.

Style Ranking (Prizes for all teammates):
- Maximum Support: the Great Mage Magician who played the most spells.
- It's a simple Strategy: The General with the least amount of units (Both combined)

FAQ:

In the past, I organised 2 Tome PvP Events as part of my Battle of Tactics series. Starting now, I will split PvP and PvE.
Nevertheless -> Let's have a Tome Tournament with some special rules!

All you need to know

What is Tome?

Tome was a PvP game mode in the original BattleForge where players had to build their decks with cards from boosters.
Aka: Random cards. It often happens that you can’t play the way you like because you are missing cards, and sometimes, this leads to the birth of new strategies.

Special Rule

1. All players will have 10 general boosters + 4 Wild boosters (you can choose if you want to take a faction booster for example)
      

2. All Common and Uncommon cards will be visible for all players as a pool, so you can't see which player got which card.

3. All Rare and Ultra Rara cards will be visible to all players, combined with the player who pulled the card.

 Organization

Since Tome requires communications with boosters, we will use my website: https://tome.t1421.de

On this website, players can open their boosters, view the cards of other players, and view Special Rules.
There is also a filter code that can be added to your "custom_filter_extensions.json" for easier deckbuilding in the game.

To join, you will need Discord. All Players will be on one Discord server for easier communication.

Format

Stage 1 is 4 Rounds of Swiss, which means you will play 4 matches, regardless of whether you win or lose.
Stage 2 is a Single elimination for the Top 4 players from Stage 1. We also play the match to decide the 3th place.
All matches will be Best of 3, which means you play against your opponent until one of you gets 2 wins.
The pairings will be shuffled before the start of the tournament.

Rules

1. The tournament will be held on the Test Server! Because you have all the cards there.
2. Disconnecting during a game will result in a default loss. If both sides agree, it is possible to have a rematch.
3. Not showing up to your match after 15 minutes results in a default loss. The plan is to play a round of matches every ~30 minutes.
4. After your match, go to Challenge and insert the result. This can be done by clicking on your match and selecting the winner/stats.
    The brackets/match list will be updated automatically after all players have finished their matches.
5. The Map Pool is: Haladur, Simai, Elyon, Lajesh, Uro and Yrmia.
6. The map of round one will be Haladur. Against the second opponent you will play on Simai, third Elyon, etc. (I will make notes in Challenge)
7. You can only win prizes if you play your matches during the event.
8. Have fun and don’t be an idiot!

Currently, Fire Wormlings can curse problems in multiplayer matches; for that reason, I sadly have to ban this card from this event.
If you happen to pull one from a booster, let me know, and you will receive a mini-booster as compensation.

Tournament Format

We play 1vs1, Best of 3, with double elimination.
So if you lose your first set, you are not out! You can make your way to the finals in the lower bracket.
The grand final will be a Best of 5. The Player of the Main bracket will have one match advantage.
The bracket will be shuffled before the start of the tournament.

Rules

This event will test your skill with the cards that all start with on the first single player  campaign map “Encounters with twilight ”.
You can use the filter "*starter*" to see all the cards allowed for this challenge.

Once the event is over, I will analyse the replays as soon as possible.
